Now let's get into today's topic.
Hi, this is Adam Troush. I coach cross country and track
here at Lyon College in Batesville, AR.
Today I'm going to walk you through the Lyon College Elite
Cross Country camp. What it is, why we run it and
what we do. It's just how we use two days in
(00:43):
July to to work, build connection and push young
runners in a way most of them have never experienced.
It's called a Lyon College Elitecross country camp.
It's about building development and it it's it's about being
elite, being the best that you can be.
(01:03):
It's about showing up with the right mindset and the
willingness to grow. We open it up to any athlete
entering grades six through 12. Doesn't matter if you're
varsity, all state stated or brand new 6th grader trying out
cross country for the first time.
If you're willing to work, this camp is for you.
We run the camp in two parts. It it's going to be July 18th
(01:27):
from 5:00 PM to 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday morning on July
19th from 8:00 AM to noon. 2 twodays, two days of running.
We, we split runners up by experience of them, so everyone
gets challenged appropriately. We start with a with a welcome,
(01:48):
we play, we play games, split everybody up into groups, have
some some team challenges throughout the weekend for a
team prize at the at the end, there's a short coaching panel
of of myself, my assistant coachand some coaches around the area
(02:08):
that have won state championships, ran in college,
have extensive experiences and timing meets or meat management,
running races, running themselves, running with their
teams and how they have developed their programs.
(02:29):
Then we trained we we have workout both days.
Friday we typically do a fart lick workout and we tailor to
the individuals. So it's it's out of
one-size-fits-all. The volume is very it's going to
range on your ability. And then Saturday we'll we'll do
(02:52):
a long run starting from our campus.
We, we train, we work on both days, feedback during and after.
We teach strength, mobility, recovery, but we're not just
showing it. We actually coaches as well too.
We'll, we'll get you in the weight room and do a little lift
(03:12):
after the long run on Saturday. We have mindset and racing
discussions and they're very interactive.
They aren't speeches, they're conversations.
There's team challenges too, Notjust to have fun, but to see who
steps up, who leads, who competes and who who
communicates. We coach the whole athlete here.
(03:34):
We get to see, we get to see a lot of growth here at camp and
this is our fourth year doing it.
Started it in 2021 and it has grown and it reaches people from
all over the region, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Alabama,
Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi lot probably 1011
(04:00):
states are represented here at Arcane.
I I see what the athletes reallyare in 2 sessions I'll be able
to find out who lists listens when you coach, who asks
questions, who adjust mid mid run, who drags when they're
tired and who picks up their group.
And coaches are able to to watchas well as we conduct the camp,
(04:24):
bringing your team, you know you're you're able to wear we're
able learn a lot by watching them run and and how they
interact with in the team challenges the the kids get to
walk away a better understandingwhat it means to train with
purpose. A sense of how how college
(04:45):
recruiting works and and how college works, how it's
different than high school. Real feedback on movement,
mindset and their approach. Everyone gets A at shirt poster
on snacks and they get to kind of see where they are and what's
next. A lot of people leave fired up
(05:06):
and, and we we stay in touch with them after they, they, they
go home. And it's also a recruiting tool
for us. And we have a lot of a lot of
people on our team that have came to camp in, in their high
school. So if you coach middle or high
school in in the, in our Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee,
(05:28):
Mississippi, you got a kid who'shungry, send them our way.
We're really excited about our camp.
It's about connection, development and and community
here. Camp gives us a way to start
that early, build that communityand they can change, change the
arc of their, their year or their career.
(05:50):
So Lion College Elite cross Country Camp, September July
