Some of Disney World's best foodisn't found in its restaurants,
it's hiding in the lounges. So from Travel prize at
Steakhouse 71 to the legendary Snob Break service, these
relaxing spots serve up some of the tasted dishes on property,
often without reservation insight.
So tonight, we're counting down our favorite whites and Disney
World's lounges, hidden gems, fan favourites, and dishes worth
planning your evening around. Welcome to the show.
(00:54):
Hello everybody, I'm Ben and welcome to the Great British
Mickey Waffle. So it's quite nice to have a
full house today or near enough pretty much.
And so joining me tonight we've got Becca, John, Claire and
Robin. I'm hope you're all doing well
today. Yes, bit chilly.
And it's a little bit. You've got the heating on,
Robin. I have maybe have put the
(01:15):
heating on, it's the first time it's been on.
I only put it on for an hour though, I'm not succumbing yet.
Just a little hour. Last winter we used to have this
desk over there right next to the radiator, so I'm missing it
already. The heater the other side of me
went up while I'm working. Yeah, I'm very much looking
forward to tonight's show. We all like talking about food.
(01:37):
Who doesn't? I don't know where this topic
came from because I know I thinkwe did.
It was from last week, it was last week when we when we were
drinking ourselves stupid aroundthe many cocktails to be had.
We kind of we kind of came out with this, this sort of verbal
recognition that some of these places that are in resorts and
(02:01):
in the parks that people go for primarily for a drink, actually
serve some amazing food. And so from there we get to this
week and just like it happened in a kind of a blinking of an
eye. And I must admit it's.
Natural progression, isn't it really?
Yeah, but if anyone didn't watchlast week, we had the most
(02:23):
wonderful guest. And I must admit, Megan kept us
right. And actually some of some of the
ideas for cocktails in so many different places.
Go back if you want a plan, a really boozy trip to Walt Disney
World, go back and just just listen and make notes on last
week's week's show because actually there were so many
amazing ideas. And I think this week is a is a
(02:46):
natural progression from that. So one thing is basically it's
in 1 and in the other so you canprepare the food with the drink.
Yeah, I think we had, we had loads of people in the chat
contributing last week. Mark Sheffield was here and
there was there was loads of people talking about different
places and why you should go there and not just for the
drinks. So I think it, you know, there
(03:09):
are so many different reasons togo to one of the lounges rather
than a sit, you know, get an ADRor.
Go for a. Book service and some of the
food you can't get in in the restaurant.
Some of the times it's the only place you can get those
particular things and, and it's,you know, the food is fresh,
it's hot, they make it to order. You don't need a reservation.
(03:31):
And if you're on your own, it's really easy to feel comfortable
sitting there as well. So, you know, there's a couple
of you grab a couple of stools, sit on the bar, have a drink,
grab some food. I just think it's a bit of a
hidden a hidden thing that people don't realize you can do.
We didn't start going to loungestill come be years ago and it
was like what? There's food at the lounge.
(03:51):
Yeah, right. And lots of lots of the big
restaurants have a lounge option.
So you can like places like California Grills, Citrus
nugsies, you can walk up and askto sit at the bar and you can
order from their full menu. So you know the apart from just
the lounge food, there are otheroptions.
So I think it's right kind of exposing that a little bit, but
(04:12):
don't tell everyone. Because.
Everyone. It's a bit like the secret look
the ohana noodles on the Tambu Lounge menu.
Yeah. Or are they?
They're not a secret, but we don't want everyone doing it.
No, I have to say, sometimes I think the food in the lounge is
better. Than the.
(04:32):
Food in the restaurant. I agree.
I agree. There are proportion sizes can
be better as well. And because you're probably not
having it with a full meal, it just depends on what what you
what you want. But it can be the budget option.
Budget friendly. It's like the Disney version of
Piggy Bits. It's cool.
Yeah. It's all three different items
(04:54):
from the menu. Share them.
Are proud to say to you. Yeah.
Yeah, I love that idea. So I should probably get on to
food. There is a few news items that I
think we should probably have a little bit of a discussion of.
So if anyone planning a trip to go.
(05:15):
To can we make a special, not breaking news, but special news
as the first one. Now before you get into the
Disney stuff, we know we've got a long standing friend of the
show who used to be on Ted cast as well.
Claire's Mae Anna and Callum aregetting married at the weekend.
Now Anna usually is working lateon a on a Wednesday.
(05:39):
So but does catch up with the show and also does catch up with
everything that we talk about her and also get into into
trouble from Claire and things like that.
So Anna and Callum, we just wentfrom on behalf of all of the
team, can we just wish you and Callum a very wonderful wedding
at the weekend and a very happy marriage moving on together as a
(06:03):
couple as well. And I look forward to catching
up with you again going. To be good.
But Claire, I look forward to the photos, the incriminating
videos. Please do share.
I look forward to that. That will make my weekend.
I have a clipboard, I have all sorts ready, but yeah, it's
going to be amazing. Just I cannot wait.
(06:25):
It's so close now. Yeah.
You're going to be like Monica from Friends at Phoebe's living
on you. All right?
My clipboards. I've got a clip.
I've got everything. I am, Monica.
This is why we're friends, Claire.
I feel like this is like something you'd find on TikTok
about what friends character areyou.
(06:47):
Hardly. I already know the answer to
that and. Oh.
So yeah, back to me. What I was going to say was
announced, I think it was only yesterday, but the first ever
direct flights between Orlando and Tokyo and have been
announced. So if you want to do a bit of
park. Hopping quite the park hop.
(07:10):
Yeah, I'd. Be interested to see what the
pricing of it is, but it's the airline is called the Zip.
OK. It's the length of that.
I was going to say that must be like 1718 hours at least.
Well, it's going that way, which.
Way is it going? It's not.
It's going to be going. West, yes, going West, it's
going West and. To other states.
(07:32):
There's there's a packed up boyssong.
I really John. I love that.
Do you know what? I'm just going to have a quick
look as I've got the ask for open here.
Ben's got the booking window open.
I love 44 charter flights between MCO and Tokyo between
(07:52):
February 23rd and March the 10th.
So they're just trialling it at the moment, OK.
All right, Yeah. So it's just sales will begin in
December, detailed dates and times, but yeah, that's going to
be very interesting. So it'd be more more to come on
that story. It doesn't say the length of the
the flight duration. No it doesn't.
(08:15):
It just says Orlando to Narita International Airport.
So I'm not sure it was his flights department or east
during the afternoon, arrive at Orlando in the afternoons.
So yeah, no details yet. So I hope people find out next
month, next month. Here we go.
I'm not quick a quick. Google search it's 70 a 17 hour
(08:38):
all right, Scott does it Yeah, connection flight because it
hang on yeah, this is this is where the a slight overlay there
as well. Yeah.
Let's see, we can do math. Because nobody.
Because nobody does it at the moment.
It's about 14 hours, 15 hours. About 15 hours, I would say 15
hours. That's not so awful.
(09:00):
Do you know what? It's 11.
It's 11 to LA. Yeah.
So it's one of those, maybe you add Tokyo to the end of your
trip. Yeah.
Or you just. Like a lot like different.
Trips Consider it is 30 hours toTokyo from here does it all.
Remember what distance was it Disney Advent Adventures by
Disney did a couple of years ago?
Why They did like all six Yeah, sort of castle was then you do
(09:24):
it all the Disney. Yeah, it's like the private
private jet. Yeah, it was a private jet it.
Was it was just the infant dollars?
Yeah, and they sold out like that.
I reckon I could do not for. Me some some people have got a
lot of money. Yeah, not us.
No, no, sadly. And.
(09:44):
As we mentioned before we even the show started, we talk about
things that weren't working. Obviously last week it was
Amazon, this week it's Microsoft.
But in updates that happen, Disney have updated their app.
Let's hope it's working. But there is a new they've
updated the terminology in the app.
So it's no longer the tick report.
It's just called my plans to open the app and they just.
(10:05):
They got the menus. Worth it.
Book a hotel this morning. Was it this morning or the same
morning? All the hotels were like great,
there's nothing. Was the UK site and the US site?
Because I tried to. Maybe it's interesting, but.
(10:26):
Then it said Oh no, bookings aren't available at the moment
and it was till it was lunchtime.
OK. Disney.
IT. Yeah.
Yep. Yeah, they're probably updating
Windows 93, aren't they? Like, you know.
Reverting back so because that'swhen it worked.
Yeah, that's true. Do.
You remember the Magic Kingdom this summer the the cool ship
(10:51):
disappeared into Ireland. Yes.
It is now been revealed as the Ashroof is since had a refurb
and a new menu it. Kind of makes it made sense.
What's it? Got soda?
And it's, I would hope so. That's true fizz.
So yeah, on the menu there's churros.
(11:12):
It's a cherry Kona churro and popcorn and slushies.
That sounds good. I'll give it a go.
Yeah, it's interesting. Well, sure.
Not sure on the name, but yeah, you can get Cotton Candy I.
Like it? Yeah, I like the. 1st.
Permanent favorite churro at Walt Disney World.
(11:32):
And other than churro flavour. Other than churro flavour, yeah.
In Disneyland, they need always to the different flavours.
Oh no, because they did them at Hollywood studios, but only a
lot during Star Wars. That's why I said permanent.
Yeah, true. Well, let's see how long it
lasts. Decca Cherry cola.
I like the idea of cherry cola. That's good.
(11:53):
Yeah. Yeah, I'd keep that.
OK. Doing something different like I
mentioned the other week about the chicken tenders.
Right. All the varieties of chicken
tenders that you can now get up with Disney World.
I only married different. Churros.
Robin, you couldn't knife. And what flavor was it?
It was no, they were disgusting.I tried the the waffle chicken
(12:15):
tenders from restaurant Asaurus and they were very sweet and
they just were not for me. It was like they've been dipped
in waffle and it was chicken with a waffle toting it.
It it didn't really do it for me.
It yes, it was better and it tasted Maple syrupy and sweet.
They weren't. They were.
Very nice. I actually couldn't finish them,
(12:37):
they were that bad, but they were the only ones that I
managed to get. Sad times.
They only it only started on theWednesday and I left on the
Friday so it was only really oneday.
So I got off to Disney World next month to do a little bit of
Christmas 4. And a half weeks and I can and I
(12:58):
think next week should we talk about the menus for Mickey's not
Mickey's very merry because that's they come out today.
And I, I kind of started lookingat them and then got distracted
with some other stuff. So I would quite like to put
them on the list for another week.
Yeah, I think we'll discuss those and also along with
Mickey's for a Merry Christmas party.
(13:18):
November is selling out. There's not that many dates
there. Wow, is that?
Is that maybe because of all theHalloween ones that were rained
out and if you live in Florida, you're basically we're offered?
Amazing cheap. Sorry, sorry.
Sorry I. Don't know if anyone's a shot
Wish. And I think it's just like when
(13:40):
we were there in August for Halloween party, it's like we
booked August ones because they're cheaper.
When you when you're there, it'slike you choose the dates that
might be cheap and you further get closer to Halloween or this
case Christmas, the more expensive it becomes.
You don't have you're not half whipping the kids into a frenzy
early doors there, aren't you? Imagine trying to keep the lid
on the kids. It's just be like, Oh my word,
(14:02):
no, it's Christmas next week. Can we put the tree up next
week? That's because we've Mickey
Mouse has got his Christmas treeup.
Can we have That's how it. Goes in my house though.
Christmas on YouTube inside of the screen.
Do you celebrate Christmas earlier than the others?
So I had nothing to do with this, but we were playing
Christmas music in the office, no?
(14:24):
Oh, no way. Not before Halloween, I do have
at least after Halloween 3 days.I walk in.
Super. I'm walking at the supermarkets
and see they've got loads of Christmas so I'm like, no, I'm
going the other way. Yeah, the worst thing is was
that Heart of Christmas radio starts in like September.
Can you, can you just not, you saw when people say if you put
your tree up, I'm like, yes, in the loft where it should be
(14:47):
until the 15th of December, please.
No, Mine goes. Mine will be going out.
Mine will be going out absolutely.
I love it. I'm in out the loft this
weekend. Madness.
The only time we really sort of did Christmas slightly earlier 1
(15:07):
was COVID but also was when we did the Halloween party when we
come back about 16th, 17th in November.
So we did Halloween party, came home and gone like.
Christmas. Party, yeah, Christmas party,
that's the one. Not Halloween, because we know
in October and we should still be talking about Halloween, so
that's all we should be. Talking about the summer.
(15:30):
Right. I'm hoping that the menus for
the holiday food booths come outthis week as well.
So because I haven't been nice, I haven't seen them yet.
John Self, if you you're in a chat, if you know when they're
coming, could you? That's no good.
I'm hoping that maybe they'll come out this week and then next
week we can do do a chat about, you know, thanks to your band.
(15:54):
Yeah, Desturations on the 15th. I agree with them.
I agree with Sean too. We have a real tree so we don't
have to. Yeah, you're going to good
Steven Trees. In the time to.
Right. Yeah, it.
Should be up on the 1st of December.
Yeah. Bring on the 10 foot real tree
so. I just love every, every
(16:15):
Wednesday you send us a picture of that tree in your living room
and it's like, how did she get that in there?
It's it's hard work. I've just got visions of the
Griswold family Christmas. There's twice we've had to have
it delivered. It's too big to go in my car and
I drive a big car and I'm slightly concerned this year
(16:37):
about what's going to happen with with the new dog.
So, you know, who knows what's going to?
Happen in our Austria. But you know, be an exciting
adventure, isn't it? So.
We'll go tree climbing, I think that'll be it.
I I think that's in our Christmas talk.
For yes, yes, definitely. More next week.
(17:01):
Yes. Christmas food.
I'm happy to talk about Christmas food because that's,
yeah, that's perspective. It's not now.
Yeah, that's true. So, yeah.
So we're talking about lounges tonight.
Should we start lounges that arein the parks or the resorts?
I've got pages. I'm happy to go on.
What's the top of your list? Do you have one that's on top of
(17:23):
you? If I was, if you say to me you
can go anywhere in Walt Disney World, to a lounge for dinner,
now I would actually not be going to a park or a resort, is
his friends. Yeah.
And I'd be going to jock Lindsay's every time.
Yeah. Because Jock's has got the most
(17:45):
incredible appetizers from they have.
During the day, they do a pretzel, which isn't the
charcuterie pretzel. They do like a charcuterie
pretzel in the evening, but after that, I think it's like
after 4:00 PM, which is slightlymore expensive and it's got cold
meats and various stuff on it. But they just do a standard
pretzel during the day, which has got beer, tea sauce, and a
mustard that I throw away immediately it comes anywhere
(18:06):
near me. They also do a queso, which is
incredible. But in the evening after four, I
think they do the potato Criettes, which are amazing.
They do 2 tacos, they do an al pastel Taco and they do a
chicken Taco. And then they also do a bread
dip pyramid, which is a pyramid of cheese breads with dips.
(18:29):
And none of them are particularly expensive.
And actually, last time when we were at Jocks, we did appetizers
at Jocks and then went next doorfor dinner at the Boathouse.
So besides, we did like, I'd like a trailing dinner and then
we did dessert somewhere else. But we decided, you know, the,
the appetizers at Jocks are so good and they've obviously got a
(18:51):
whole load of unique Halloween things at the moment.
But by the time I get there, they won't be there for
Christmas things. So I just think the food there
is a, it's unexpected because ofthe type of place it is.
You don't, you know, you sit down to a really good drink and
we talked about the great drinksthere last week, but I don't
think anyone expects the food tobe as good as it is.
(19:11):
And it comes out and it's just, it's so tasty.
It really is a bit of a surpriseand and I I can't wait to go and
I'll. Probably go there one.
It's a good value as well. It's it.
Is everything's between sort of about 12 and $15.00 for an
appetizer and they're good size, they're shareable.
I think the four of us shared three things and that was more
(19:34):
than sufficient as as appetizers.
Really, but again, really reasonably priced as well,
Claire, I think this is this is the thing.
I think This is why we felt thatthis is worth flagging with,
with with a lot of people. Because I think when you're
certainly when you're within just in corporate team, you keep
thinking food is going to be quite an expensive occasion if
(19:58):
you could certainly go in as a bigger group.
But when you see see what comes out, I remember we were in there
as someone, I'm sure it was the chicken on the egg that someone
had. And actually, I don't, I don't
make a habit of doing this. But yeah, when you
surreptitiously take it, try to take a photograph, you know,
looking the other way and takinga picture of what they've
(20:20):
actually ordered. And it just, it looked
absolutely incredible. And yeah, when you just like,
that is such a good idea. Yeah.
And actually visually, when you you're within that bar
situation, you're thinking that's exactly what if you're
out for drinks, that's exactly what you want.
I've just seen John Sells comment in the chat and I'm
(20:40):
wondering whether the the menu has changed.
That's the problem, John, we can't get the menus to work.
At I wasn't. About to say check the menu.
I actually can get the menus to work on my app.
I can't get anything to do. I just had a look after you said
that because I was like, oh I don't remember it not working.
Yeah. I'm on the phone in the in the
US your your phone's usually in the US, so it probably picks up
(21:02):
on that enough. Maybe.
Book restaurants on the app. It always redirects me to the
website when I want to book. I can never understand why they
can't fix that. If it's in an app, just take or
just have everything on the website.
Don't have an app? Yeah.
It is one of those, but probablywhat What's your choice of a
(21:24):
lounge to go to if you're going anywhere?
I do. I tend to agree with Claire.
I think Jock Lindsay is a great option.
The food is it feels much more elevated than other Disney
resource and Disney lounges. I do think it it feels like a
step above. I always end up back in the
(21:44):
Nomad Lounge. The Nomad Lounge is is such a
good lounge. It's nice somewhere to chill
out. If it's hot, it's really nice.
If it's cold, it's nice to warm up.
It's just a nice atmosphere. The food's good.
You can get food from Tiffin's or they do their own food.
I just think everything in there, the detail is just, yeah,
(22:06):
it's very, very special. So it tends to get my vote.
And the fact that you can log onthe app as well and put your
name down for a table, which I think is really nice.
They are quite strict on the comeback time though.
We've had a couple of times. So we've we've it's said like a
50 minute wait time. So we logged firstly, then we've
(22:28):
got to watch Festival Lion King and then halfway through got the
call back and it's like we get back to nomads and they're like
no, you've missed your window, which is frustrating.
They tend to try and seat you assoon as they can, but it can be
another 30 minutes after that so.
We've had a bit of Disney glitches with that and it's like
the first time we did the ball, oh, it's fine.
(22:48):
It said come back in an hour. It'd been like 2 hours.
And it's like we went up there and they said like we didn't
actually call you back. There was somebody.
It never went through even though the Ambus is still
waiting. So we went there.
It's like, oh, they just sat with a minute and this time we
had something similar where within 30 minutes it'd go.
Back. I'd take it personally if I were
you, Ben. Ask for Robin's table next time,
(23:12):
yeah? This time it worked the food.
Is lovely. Did you have the chicken wings?
Because those chicken wings are probably some of the best
chicken wings I have ever eaten in my entire life.
They they've got like a OK, oh, that's amazing.
(23:33):
But they're similar. They're the chicken wings have
got like a caramel with some peanut and coriander.
Oh. This.
They'd be this. They're seeded and then fried,
so they're that's. The end that was.
Yeah. No, we were going to get the
cheese bread on from the secret menu.
(23:53):
Was there any left? Have really eaten it or?
No, we forgot, but. The cheese bread was available
on the secret menu. So the cheese bread bread
service. So in the bread service that you
get they've changed it. So you now get you get the milk
bread, you get the poppadoms, you get something else and you
get some cheese bread and we. Had these sliders as well.
(24:16):
Half a sliding so Harry came to the table.
I take a bite and you got we need to take a photo of that and
was like. Yeah, I've.
Already eaten my one yeah yeah, I think that the the bread
service at name ad it's not yeahit's a different type of bread
(24:37):
service to what you get so now, but it's incredibly good and
it's not as expensive I think it's only that it's. $2020.00
which is, which is again is. Just super daring and actually
if you if you speak to your server nicely, because we we
were there. I can't remember when it come on
which day it was. We were there and we ordered a
(24:58):
we ordered a bread service and we ate it and then we were like,
we want another one. A million was like, I actually
just want the Brazilian cheese bread.
And there are very few places onproperty you can get cheese
bread anymore. This is and this is one of them
apart from the festival be but in in restaurants there, it's
not really something that is served very, very many places.
And so we spoke to them and said, can you take milk bread
(25:19):
out and just give us like an extra cheese bread?
Because mills was inhaling it. And actually they brought her a
bowl with seven cheese breads inOh, wow.
Alongside the bread service, I think she ate something like 12
or 13 Brazilian cheese bread. And makes.
It like an hour and then she satthere on the sofa just like
(25:39):
that, which she was very happy. Nomad is always high up on my
list. We've been here a couple of
times. Good food could drink us.
Yeah, it's the three things I had around this from there were
the satay, the the wings and theG and the bread service.
Yeah. I have to say the last couple of
times I've been in there, I've not had great service.
(26:02):
And it's been from the same server and it it came to the
third time going in there and I actually asked specifically not
to have a certain particular server because he was, he was
really disinterested. Not very quick, Not very not not
quick. Bringing interest.
(26:23):
Say that again, not interested. Yeah, just not interested.
Yeah, we've had it where they tried to sit us out the back,
you know, in the room that's like a hybrid room that
sometimes is Tiffin, sometimes is Nomad, the one beyond the
bar. I've never been in there.
I've never been in there. I can't remember who I was.
I was with Nicky and Morgan in April and we walked in and they
(26:43):
said, yeah, we'll see you straight away.
And they took us through to thatroom.
It was like, it felt like it wasthe the playroom, you know, when
you have like a thing and you shot them in the back room so
they're not noisy. I was like, come on.
And there was tables in the bar and I was just like.
Why are we being? Sat through here.
I actually said take that personally, right?
I said. I said, why are we sitting
(27:05):
through here? She went, oh, we're just filling
up in the back. I said, no, I'm really sorry.
We don't want to sit through here.
Was we'll wait if there's not another table, but I can see 2
tables in your, in your bar area.
Can we have one of those? There was three of us.
There was a table for three and a table for five and they sat us
at the one of the five. I was like, do you want us to
move across and then you can sitanother part here.
No, no, sit at that one. What is because?
(27:29):
You you busted them on that clarity.
I know, but that backroom I think is a room that they sort
of isn't like an overflow like overflow parking.
Yeah and yeah. Now I I kind of refuse to sit
through there. It's got a good petty.
I do prefer to sit outside and they mad I'm quite likely
outside. Yeah.
I think agent that even in August, I've sat in there in
(27:52):
August and been like cans. It's nice.
Yeah, it's actually quite nice. I think the atmosphere is
probably better outside than it is inside.
I like oaths. Yeah, I think they're different,
but they're good. Yeah.
Becca, what's on your must do lips?
If you're going to go to 1 Lounge, what would it?
Be I'm going to go to 1 lounge where I'm like I don't know
(28:12):
whether it counts as a lounge. OK.
I. Can save Three Bridges Bar and
Grill. Bar and Grill.
Yeah, so you can't sit at the bar.
There's lounge seating they. Haven't got their own menu.
It's. Just the same menu.
Yeah. So I'm not going to include it.
And I'm going to say, say Steakhouse 71.
(28:32):
Yeah. Yeah, that's on my list.
Solid lounge that one. Love that lounge.
What would you order? What's your what's your lounger
in Steakhouse 71 lounge? I would have the onion rings,
yes. Or.
The burger. And and.
The Mac. And cheese.
Yay Mac and. Cheese the.
Trinity of steak most 71 nights.Got to be nice.
(28:55):
Sorry they are. I've got to be got to be honest
with you. Becca, the onion rings are
absolutely spectacular and they are literally getting 3.
Things from this afternoon. Good afternoon, beer.
You have to order. You have to order the onion
rings. They are the best onion rings.
I've ever had in. My life.
Yeah, like life. Changing.
(29:17):
Onion rings, yeah. Yeah.
They are, I just. They're amazing.
There's no other way of describing them.
And. Actually, you when they arrive
and you think, Oh my word, thesehow how can I recreate these at
home, right. So you come, you come home and
then you make that mistake. Or even when you're in the
States and you're actually, you go around the you go around
(29:38):
Walmart or you go around Publix, you go around and you're
looking. No, they don't know.
You can't buy that. You just can't.
They're freshly. Done.
They're not, and they're absolutely.
To the point of actually the waythat the the actual battle that
surrounds them is so beautifullydone that it's it's like melting
(29:58):
them out stuff and and you wouldnever you would.
Never expect you would. Never.
Expect that with underrings. Yeah, I think.
Potentially the rubbish ones. You buy in the supermarket.
I just, I just don't fall. The thing is, there's that
crunch to it. It's only difficult to try and
describe when without, just whenyou buy into them.
(30:19):
You don't end up pulling. Off with the onion out and
being. Left with the batter, right?
It's not stringy, it's fresh, but it's cooked enough to cut
through it. And it's not crunchy, but it is
enough so that when you cut it, it stays cut and you haven't got
like a piece of onion and then just left with the onion in one
hand and the batter in the otherthat doesn't have it.
I I judge all onion rings against the hoops.
(30:43):
Doesn't matter where we are. In the world, any onion ring,
I'll be like that. Don't.
Worry Wendy, I'll I'll have. The onion rings We will have
your share of onion. I'm, I'm kind of with Wendy, I'm
afraid. I thought they were all right.
I, I don't really like a breadedonion ring.
I like a battered, a beer battered onion ring.
(31:04):
So I was a bit like because I don't really.
I'm reggard so. I'll I'll have the Mac and
cheese, maybe Wendy and I'll have a Mac and cheese each.
I'm having all three. You can change.
You can alter the Mac and cheesebecause I've had it with the
bacon taken out. So it's just with the jalapenos
and that's also excellent. And I've.
Had it the other way around. With without jalapeno sort of
(31:27):
extra bacon. Yeah, yeah, I think it's and sit
at the bar as well. It's really nice to sit at the
bar. I love, I love that.
Bar area and actually before thebefore the restaurant opens and
things like that what's really nice is that the bar staff have
got a little bit of time to chatto you and we'll just.
Interact in the way that. You would expect in a place like
(31:49):
ours, don't get me wrong, but weagain, just absolutely on point,
really looking after you And andif you've got any really daft
questions, because when we went,we had our Joe with us and he
was like, oh, so who's the most famous person that you've had in
the bar? And I'm like, I couldn't ask
(32:09):
that. But actually he gets away.
He gets away. What was the answer?
He said that. They have a very famous
Imagineer who comes in regularly.
I can't name him, but he tips very well.
And that was, and he just left it for us to decide and things
like that. And I just thought, you know,
(32:31):
that is that is such a lovely way that he won't disclose
stuff. He won't give give information.
And I just thought, yeah, you'vebeen really professional.
I like that. But he was also placating Joe
with his, you know, because obviously Joe being under 21
couldn't have a beer and stuff like that.
So, you know, was he was either going on the phone or he's going
(32:52):
to add to the the interaction. And he went down the interaction
from there. And I thought that would again,
it's the nice thing to do, but as someone of his age is asking
the barman these questions and he didn't get he didn't get
fobbed off with all I can't tellyou he he got.
Given. A little bit of story and then
and I won't, yeah. I don't know who it was, but
(33:13):
they they do whenever they're inOrlando, they tend to stay late.
Was it was it was the description.
They said Joe will be staking out the yeah, and I sent you a
lot. He's the last one to leave.
Then I yeah, I'm wondering. Yeah, I've been there.
I've been the last. One to leave alone.
I would be a job, yeah. Anna and I and Zach.
Were the. Last three in there and they
(33:34):
were literally cleaning the bar down around us.
But they were brilliant. And actually the bartenders
amazing. And I, I agree with you, John,
They're, they're, they're so good in terms of, yeah, I didn't
know what I wanted to drink. And Zach was like on the old
fashions and Anna's on the gins. And I was like, I just actually,
I think I just want a glass of wine.
And they were like, what do you like?
And I was like, what's on the list?
And they're like the menus massive.
What sort of wine do you like? So I talked to talk to them
(33:57):
about things I like and they read like try these three and
decide which one you want. But they're probably a little.
Bit of three. Different wines, one of them.
So you're on to. You're on to.
Something else. Because I've forgotten this,
because I couldn't make my mind up which beer I wanted.
So they did a little taster of yeah, a few of them.
Wow, not all, but. Not all bartenders will do that,
but they there is something about.
(34:18):
Steakhouse 71. Bartenders who will just make
that effort. They're great.
There's I can't remember his name.
There's one chap who's really loud, but he's he's lovely.
I can't remember his name. It's really annoying me.
But yeah, they're great. We were there on a busy IT.
Was fun to be busy. It would be.
It was Boxing Day, so 27, so whyit?
(34:38):
Was busy, we managed to just. And just get out of bait, get a.
Sea and food was. Incredible, great interaction
with servers, lovely food. I just, I want to go back to
that burger now. I'm really hungry.
Another show that we do that's just.
Making me hungry. Yeah.
Yeah. John.
John. What's on your list?
What's top of your list? Top of the list is actually
(35:00):
quite. A surprise actually, because I'm
not, I'm not the type of person who who would usually end up in
a wine bar, but actually wine bar George, again, following
Claire's example, going to the springs and and the charcuterie
in there is absolutely divine. It really is art.
I'm, I'm a little bit of a stickler for a charcuterie
(35:23):
board. One of the advantages of having
a wife who actually doesn't eat cheese is I get all the cheese
and she tends to do the meat. So we, we found a way of making
it work between us as a sharing dish, but it's actually, it's
actually quite well there. It's $27.00.
So make your mind big though, isn't it?
It's. Massive.
(35:44):
And actually the amount of different cheeses in the
selection of meters is like, is like at least treble what you
get get elsewhere. Because actually another place I
do like going just for people watching more than anything else
is a baseline tap for the charcuterie.
I knew I was I. Thought that's where you were
going to go. I was like, yeah.
But again, that's like, that's another one that you you're
(36:07):
actually going for the people watching, you're not going for
the food. What I found this year, I
actually felt that they changed it slightly.
Just the selection of, you know, the just a selection that was on
the on the trail. I don't know whether it was just
because they didn't have it or whatever.
I just thought it wasn't quite as as on point as it as it was
(36:31):
the 12 months previously. I just thought that I was a
little bit disappointed, I'll put it that way, say.
The salt and vinegar baseline. See, Allison gets them.
I can't. Eat.
We can't eat them. Yeah.
So. It's one of them and and again
that goes by again, it's just one of the things that you go
into places and you know you can.
(36:54):
And This is why I like lounge food because I know it's stuff I
can deal with and I can actuallyeat without, again, without
making a force and without sort of it becoming an issue as I
can't eat stuff that hasn't got much sauce on it, etcetera.
And then and obviously the fact that you can get a load of drink
to just sort of wash it down does help, you know.
(37:14):
But the wine bar George, I actually feel this isn't quite
an overlooked one because everyone assumes and I, like we
said last week, everyone assumesyou just go there for drinks.
And once you once you're there and you start looking at the
food menu, the actual there's lamb chops on that menu as well,
which when you see them brought out and I'm thinking my word,
(37:34):
that looks absolutely incredible.
But again, just a high level of just.
Presentational value. I know that sounds a really
silly thing to say, but you know, yeah, you're paying that
extra amount of money, but you're not just having it
delivered like you would if you were going to a fast food place
(37:56):
and stuff like that. And then some, some places and
eating baseline tap. It is basically fast food
because actually it's all pre cut, pre done.
It just comes out the fridge andit's a bang.
There's your beer where you go and you're paying a premium for
it. But actually it's nice.
And, and, you know, they, they were the two that really sprung
out to me apart, apart from the onion rings, obviously.
(38:20):
I I. Would agree with you about.
Blind Bar George, though, we've been there.
We have the steak and fright take frites.
Yeah, and they were a. Very reasonable.
Price, it's not the regular. Bean.
Actually, no. Neither have I.
Yeah, the one was quite nice too.
I think it's going to throw that.
Out. As.
I say charcuterie boards are a. Bit of a theme.
(38:41):
In some of the languages, you can get them in a number of
different places, and they're all slightly different, slightly
different prices. I saw something online the other
day that said, let's face it, a Sharpie tree board.
It's just an adult luncheon ball.
Yeah, except you could exchange the drink for wine.
And I was like, that's so perfect.
I actually nicked if. I put that him off his arms
(39:03):
because actually I nicked, I nicked the actual meme of it.
I just said brilliant. That's actually on that.
It is so true. Yeah, Yeah.
But. I think that sharky.
Tree boards are death or at least a cheese plate or a sharky
tree board or then sometimes there's both.
And I think, you know, they're easy to do.
They can be pre done in the kitchen.
But actually there is a, a bit of a, a span of them I think
(39:27):
sometimes, yeah, yeah. I think I.
Think it's worth? Saying as well, and I think this
again, sounds a little bit daft given the fact that we're trying
to sort of make food the the, the, the core part of the show.
But actually, yeah, when you go into some of these places and I
think, you know, if you if you look more on the, the appetizers
(39:51):
and look at that and they don't mind you just having an
appetizer, don't feel as if you're there for the big meal.
Because actually if you look at what the actual the price of
some of the entrees become in some of these places, you, you
are paying a hot dollar and maybe, maybe a time of day that
you're not wanting to eat. Either a big meal if you maybe
(40:12):
good afternoon or you've alreadyeaten and then you've done a bit
of theme park walking and you feel a bit bit peckish about
10:00 PM and things like that. It don't feel as if you have to
be there for just a full meal. Go for the fact that you're
going for a drink and you're actually just supplementing that
if you wish with a little bit offood.
(40:33):
And then you then have the choice of how much, how much you
want to eat and at what price ofbracket you wanted to to
actually, yeah, that's somethingis.
Being aware of what time they open because some of them lounge
hours are very different and sometimes your dizzy springs,
you might be to get some in early like 11 onwards because
it's been the restaurants open. But sometimes there's resorts,
(40:55):
sometimes not like 4:00 PM. Yeah, or even like steakhouse.
71 closes in the afternoon. It does closes.
But the lounge? Is still open.
You can still get food in the lounge from the lounge menu, so
it's worth noting. That's my favorite time to.
Go and it's easy to go back to get the onion.
Rings. Ben, did you have anywhere on
(41:17):
your list? We haven't mentioned I did.
Tambu lounge, OK? The noodles.
The right pudding. Yeah, you can get the red
pudding. Get Oh Claire, Honestly, I don't
like sweet stuff. I.
Don't do sweets though. Don't be sweet stuff.
Don't do pancakes, don't do waffles.
(41:39):
Don't be friends. Bring me the salty.
I'm a happy girl. I'll have the sweet.
I just can't do like, I like allthe components of the bread
pudding. It's just so heavy.
It makes me want to go and have a nap.
Yeah. Right.
It feels at home. I just don't like Carrot I.
(41:59):
Don't like a light, a lighter boat standing up and feeling.
Like I'm 3, so heavier on the hot mountain yourself.
Definitely not for me. But.
I just love it. The noodles.
The noodles are just amazing. And we've never actually been to
Ohana itself because every time we looked at the menu and gone,
(42:21):
that's the price. Like I don't want a full meal
pop stick. Is it good as well?
Yeah, yeah, you enjoyed the. Sand.
Tangria, very nice. Oh, that's good to.
Know, yeah. Yeah.
It's sometimes difficult. To get a seat there because it
is so busy and popular. Yeah.
And lots of people waiting for their Ohana dinner.
They'll go there early and get adrink.
(42:41):
Yes, yeah, yeah. So.
Yeah, last time we were there. But.
Yeah. Yeah.
And that one that we. Haven't mentioned.
Actually, I kind of mentioned Bar River at the Riviera.
OK, I like it. I like it then.
Sorry, Claire, you're not going to like it, but.
It's it's oh. Do you know what that?
(43:03):
Is like my idea of hell, but youknow what else you do?
Have they still got the deep fried?
Brie on the menu, Yes, that was brilliant.
That would be his fried break. Was very.
Nice a cookie dough with with ice cream.
Hot and cold isn't no ice cream.Oh, that's an absolutely so
many. Reasons I would.
Melt it. So it's like proper cookie
(43:25):
dough. And obviously in Florida, heat
melts even quicker. But yeah, absolutely, it's going
to be on our list for next time.Yeah, I think my students are.
Going on my list next, I think next time we're out there we
need to just. Do we might just do the lounges,
Yeah. Yeah, any restaurants for
December? I'm going to dinner with a
(43:45):
friend one night but I haven't got any restaurants at all so I
intend to do lounge eating and drinking for for most of my
meals. Just maybe, just sit.
There all day. We've got a day in.
January where we're. Planning to Disney Springs but
I'm just thinking oh we could just go lounges.
Oh, Disney. Springs lack your way.
(44:06):
Through. The bar at Summer House.
Yeah. Yeah, it could actually.
Be a really dangerous place to go.
It is. And just, you know, and just
sort of go from bar to bar to bar to bar experience.
I've done that on my own. We we did it in the summer.
(44:26):
And it's just like and we and westill didn't do them all.
No. And we still.
Couldn't stay. Longer think I did 4.
And. After the.
Margarita Moonshine at Chef asked me.
So I just I did to somehow find a bus back to my hotel.
I don't remember that, but I gothome.
(44:48):
I got I was. That's the main thing you got
there functional. The there's a place that I have
that we haven't mentioned and I'm surprised no one's brought
it up. And I wonder it's because it's
is it a little? Bit hidden, it might be a
little. Bit hidden but I want to throw
in the territory lounge at Wilderness Lodge so.
That. Obviously is next door to Artist
(45:11):
Point. That used to be the best
restaurant and properties. And then, not that I'm sore
about that at all, but. Territory.
Lounge has some really great food options.
So they, I, I mean, they do a popcorn sampler, which I think
is, is amazing and it's really, it's like $12.00 and you get a
(45:33):
salted 1, you get a caramel 1, you get a spicy one more than
one piece of each. And then you get truffle and you
get a BBQ flavour. And it comes in like this little
thing, the five different flavours of popcorn, which is
quite nice if you've got a drinkand you know, just something to
nibble on if you. And the.
Loaded potato flatbread. I know that sounds a bit weird.
(45:58):
That's. Actually, I'm just basically a
flatbread with. Like jacket potato with sour
cream and bacon and. It's.
So good. I've never, I've never been.
I've been in there once for a drink.
I've never had any other food inthere.
That's funny. It's outstanding.
(46:19):
They also do, I mean, if you're going high end, they do like a
almost like an Osso Buko. They do like a bone marrow and
breedish, if that's your thing. They do a Mac and cheese, a
loaded Mac and cheese. And they also do the candied
bacon and the like the wire, thethe drying wire, if that's you
think yeah, when it comes out like closed pegs.
(46:42):
But it's something in there I've.
Asked. Great.
We tried to go in once. But then we realized it wasn't
4:00 at the time, so it was justlike it wasn't open.
Yeah. And it's a really cool place to.
Go, I don't know if you've neverbeen in, go in and have a seat
and look up because on the ceiling there is the most
incredible map. It's it's, it's a little bit
(47:03):
dark in there. And I don't mean emotionally or
you know. As in lighting.
Darker words, darker words, it'sslightly atmospherically, but
it's actually, it's just, it's really because it's a little bit
(47:23):
tucked away. It never feels that busy.
Even if it's if it's full, it's not huge.
I would definitely recommend it and I think people go to die as
a point. Yeah, I was going to say.
That place great of. Territory Lounge and actually I
think the food at Territory Lounge might be better than
that. I don't think that's hard in in
today's in today's world. Geyser Point used to be
(47:46):
incredible for food, but sadly last time we were there it was
really. Really good.
I had black bread. It was.
It was good, The drinks are great.
There. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I just. Service I had difficult. 1.
Rude. Oh, that's not.
Good. Puts you off, doesn't it?
(48:08):
Yeah, I'm not in a rush to go back, and that's sad.
Yeah, but The thing is. They have changed.
Quite a few things over the years and that's the problem.
The entrance which really confused.
Me yes yeah, that confused me aswell we went there and I was
like wait that's that's this is not the weigh in yeah our.
Server was really an ugly. She was part of a college
(48:28):
program, yeah. Our server.
Was. We were with friends who are
part of the Disney Day Drinkers Club and their server, they know
and always go to see him when he's working and he's part of
the Disney Day Drinkers. So we were very well taken care
of. But yeah, the food was mediocre,
(48:50):
which is it's not cheap, It's not cheap.
No, it's not cheap. It's the same food.
You can get as quick service andbut slightly.
More expensive, so yeah. But what I feel like we're,
we're missing the most obvious lounge in Disney.
I mean, we Nomad is obviously everyone knows we love Nomad.
(49:11):
I feel like the most obvious lounge everyone.
Goes to everyone. Turn off Everyone wants to go to
the Polynesian Trader Sands. Yeah.
But the food's not amazing there.
I think the food's great. We did some food when we were
there earlier this year, when inApril, we definitely did some
(49:32):
food. It was OK.
We've always had great food there.
We, we, yeah. Every time we've ordered
something there, we've, we thought, oh, wow, this is really
good. I mean, it might be because I'm
always getting the, the peanut chicken flatbread thing.
Yeah. Thai juice Flatbread.
This is so good. And the pot.
(49:55):
Stickers is. Usually the two things that I
always get not not everyone elsegets other things, but yeah, it.
Doesn't there's enough on the menu but?
Not. Enough that I think it would it
would be. That's dinner.
Yeah, Yeah. I suppose I think it's the one
of those things where you'd get a couple of bits and share it
wouldn't be dinner, yeah. When we were there in.
(50:16):
August, every time we're saying the Polynesian, we never
actually went to Trader Sam's because every time we walked
past them queuing up from 1:00, yeah.
It doesn't open until 3:00. Yeah, yeah.
And it. Was just like. 12:00 Half I was
like, we would hope to monitor. I would like what's this key for
and it was queuing all the way back, all the way through the
(50:36):
lobby. It was like, sometimes that's
mad. Just yeah.
Just like there's. No.
I don't get I'll betray to Sam'sis it's not worth the wait in
that queue and particularly whenyou can.
Go to the. Tamberland City, you can
actually get a similar vibe and things like drinks, drinks.
List is very. Similar, you can get the drinks
out on the. On the and yeah patio as well.
(50:57):
It's a bit a shame. That then because.
Actually, I think that's a really good point because it's
that's put us off a few times aswell.
Just that the fact that you knowso staking out if.
I give you a tip for for the forthe British listeners.
So they take your, you go put your name down and they text
(51:17):
you. However, if you've got a British
number, you can't be texts. So they'll give you a time to
come back. And even if you, so if you have
your, they often give you a timethat's less than what other
people have been told. For example, we've gone behind
another group who are American. We've then talked to them and
(51:39):
we've been near them. And then it's been an hour,
they're still sat near us, and we go back and we get seated
inside because we were. Told an hour I'm writing this,
I'm. Writing this down.
As you're talking, Robin, this is Yeah, you know, that's what
you've done as. Well, it's inside.
The knowledge. This is what I like.
This is why we do these shows. That's exactly.
(52:00):
What we do, even when we were. Nicky and she had, yeah, she's,
she's got AUSL and we're just like, no, don't have AUSL.
They're like, OK, come back in 45 minutes.
Yeah, Yeah, we did that. With him, obviously, Gideon.
'S, yeah. And I find a load of money in
the boutique. While you wait.
Yeah. Yeah, easily done.
Usually. Though sometimes if you're not a
fan of the food in there but youwant to drink, it can be great
(52:21):
to go into Captain Cook's and get something to eat, and then
by the time you've eaten it, it's time to go in.
Yeah, Yeah, that's a good. Show so.
That's that's. Also an option, John says he
thinks I've been quite lucky with the food.
I have to say it's it's not been, it's not been a one time
thing. We've been there a couple of
times and had really nice food. So what should you drug?
(52:42):
Well, you know. Me.
I'm a one drink girl, 2 drinks and I'm on the floor SO1
Nautilus and the food tastes great.
Maybe it's just the. Ambience of everything because I
do love it in there, I really enjoy it so and maybe it's
because that's why they give me a drink.
Of food, yeah. Maybe that's why.
(53:05):
I think as well though I. Think.
We this cropped up last week in so much as the fact that as a
location, I think the Polynesianis the one that ticks most boxes
for experience, ambiance and certainly quality of drink.
And I know Simon last week went into great depth about the
(53:27):
amount, the different rooms and things like that.
And I love that because actuallythat that actually adds even
more detail to to why even if you're staying off site, it's
such a good place to just go andjust just hang out, hang out and
just just soak it up. It is a really, really brilliant
place. And that, yeah, I actually feel
(53:47):
that this is this is one place that.
Yeah. I think it is a drink.
That probably people go for the food is secondary.
I think going back to what you said, Ben, the noodles at the at
the bar are actually for me is one of the things that is a
nice, nice little treat. I know we've got Matt's, Matt's
(54:08):
in the chat as well. So, yeah, yeah.
Lovely. Lovely.
Have you have you watching? What I would say, Matt though,
is, is the fact that just use usas an excuse.
You might have an American accent but you're partly great
British. Meaty waffle.
I haven't got AUS so can I have British British waiting rights?
(54:29):
British. Deal for me.
British accent. I was going to say just get on
your. Best Mary Poppins accent.
Not the Dick Van's icon. Not the Dick Van Dyke.
And Ben I had. Three other.
Lounges on my list. I don't know, I was going to.
Say, does anyone? Else want to go before, can I?
Can I just go back to? The chat and just say thank.
(54:50):
You as always, John Self, a massive thank you because
actually what you actually do isactually give us that
information. I know you're a massive food
person and you write extensivelyabout it, but to have you as
part of the show on a Wednesday,it just adds so much detail.
And we really like the fact thatyou are very honest with us and
(55:11):
know that we have a very Britishway of looking at food grammar
on holiday. And you have a different
approach. And and that's what I like.
I like the fact that if you you prepared the cold places out and
I'll really like that. Charlie, can I just say a
massive shout out to Disney NerdHerd to say, well, I'm sorry, I
thought it's Carlos. It's Carlos.
(55:32):
Goodness mate. Long time nose, Carlos.
I thought it was. Charlie when I.
Just saw Disney house, I need toput my glasses on next.
Lovely to hear from you Carlos and.
Yeah, I need, I need to catch upwith what he's doing.
Not, no, not for a while. I think he's got a very short
countdown. To Disney, it's less than 30
days. Exciting times.
(55:52):
Exciting times, Heather. Yeah.
Just don't fake a British accent.
I think that's that's probably it.
I like that. Wonderful.
Amazing, so I've got. Something on your list as well,
and it's going to round out the one around if you've had to do a
bit of bath hauling around there.
Enchanted Rose. Yes.
(56:14):
Yeah, me too. Oh no.
Can I have it? Noted.
Can I have it Noted that it's Becca leaving people astray on
the back wall? Thank you, John.
It's not We get the blame for this.
Every. Time.
And you know what? It's the Silent Assassin.
(56:39):
That's. Most.
Definitely. The ringleader and the next
time. I'm next time I'm in the the
Grand Fuller idiot, and I've hada few too many drinks around the
monorail. I'm going to blame Becca for the
fact that I go to the Enchanted Rose and I have that that one
drink that just takes you over that coherent sort of approach
(57:01):
and things like that. Yeah.
And then when you stagger back, you stagger back, you get an
Uber, back to the Uber back to the.
Villa and. It was Becca honestly chance to
raise. Next time you have to walk past
the new bar, Yeah. Will there be food there?
Will it just be drinks? I think an opportunity is not
(57:22):
needed. I think we said this last.
Week. As well.
And actually I, I would love to see how this pans out between
how Enchanted Rose continues in its current form and how the
lobby becomes a hangout area. And I don't know if they can
actually sustain both of them tothe extent and, and the
(57:44):
Enchanted Rose is the most exquisite place to just look out
towards Magic Kingdom. And you're now going to be in
this area where you can't feel enclosed.
I don't know it, it doesn't sit right with me.
And I, I really, I'd be intrigued to see what I, I, what
I'm doing. No, I say, I shouldn't.
(58:04):
Especially. With enchanted rose, not that
new carpet. I'm not going to my parents
house. You have to take the sheets off.
Don't don't stand on the new carpet.
Don't eat anything on. Even 5.
Years later, it's still the new carpet.
No red wine, nothing. Like if you like those.
(58:25):
Over shoes to wear. Just the lobby, they're going.
To put cups at that bar aren't. They maybe.
You feel like when? You drops.
Only. You know what you know when you
were a kid? And and your parents got a new
carpet in the front room or so. Yeah.
Every everyone had to take the shoes off, right?
It's just. Yeah.
So I, I swear to you. Is not a lie at the moment.
(58:47):
My parents had the carpet replaced in their lounge about
four months ago and where they said they have spare carpet on
top of the new carpet, it's the new carpet clean.
I think that's what's going to. Happen in the ground.
I was just thinking they're. Going to have the IT is a.
Carpet that people have to like, hop between so that the new
carpet doesn't get damaged. The walkway it's.
(59:09):
Feel like you'd drink COVID, youknow, when we had like, yeah,
walk one way here and follow, yeah.
Yeah, interesting time to the Grand Floridian, but.
What was on the list of Enchanted Rose?
There's a cheese plate and there's a.
Charcuterie plate, both really good cheese.
It's the cheese. It's the truffle fries.
(59:30):
Like they're amazing. There's truffle poquettes quite
nice as well. I won't do that.
I don't like it when people order the truffle fries because
this I don't. It's the smell that really gets
me. OK, I can't.
Bear. The smell of truffle, I don't
mind how it tastes, but the smell of it just is one of these
things that, you know, just likeit gets in your nose and no, no.
(59:54):
Yeah, I can't go. With you, Robin, I'm afraid.
Sorry. Yeah, You wouldn't.
You wouldn't be able to. I wouldn't go with you moaning
about you from the other side ofthe box.
Why did they order 2? Yes, I've just seen.
Heather's comment. As well about the plastic floor
runners as well, Yeah. Remember those?
(01:00:16):
Remember those? Yeah.
I would love it if. They did that.
You're only allowed to. Walk.
On the on the stairs as well thenew.
Staircase as well. I will say with the.
Truffle fries, though they're expensive for a quite a small
portion. Enchanted.
Rows. So why don't you go to the happy
(01:00:38):
hour at at the summer house? Because they're not as good.
I mean, I should do get unlimited travel fries for $10.
It's not as good but but they're.
Unlimited. Yeah, they are unlimited.
They're not as good. And also I'm not, I don't spend
much time in Disney Springs. I will be honest, there are
trips where I don't step foot inDisney Springs.
(01:01:01):
I. I need to spend more time.
There, I always feel like we don't spend enough time there
and I, I. I tend to agree with you.
I tend to agree with you. It's it's.
But it's so busy. Anytime in the evening or the
weekend, it's so busy it kind ofputs me off and you're either
(01:01:22):
there to eat or shop. And there's, I remember when
Disney used to have different shops that have unique things
in. Now every shop sells the same
stuff. Yeah, you walk towards.
The Disney Style Shop, which is now got everything from Walt
Disney, used to be used to be unique.
Brilliant. Co.
OP has. That.
They used to have. What was at Disney ever after
(01:01:43):
actually get stupid headbands? Yeah, but they.
Used to I. Used to.
Hate that shop because you'd come out with another Dooney and
Bourke every time we walks in, but.
It. How, how, how Disney's things
has changed. As.
John. 'S.
Made a good point, why not go ona weekday morning and that's is
when I sometimes if I do want togo to Disney springs, which
(01:02:05):
isn't very often, that's when I'll go.
However, most recently I've beengoing for brunch, which lots of
them only do at the weekend. So you're then still stuck to
the weekend. This is the thing, there's some
great restaurants in Disney Springs, but most of the time
there's some nice restaurants inthe hotels or in the OR, or I'm
in a park. So I don't tend to make it over
(01:02:27):
there that often. So yeah, I always feel like I'm,
oh, I need to spend more time there.
And then I go there and I'm like, oh, so busy.
I tend. To find it's better going
without a car. I think that's, yeah, that's
probably the. Fact that.
You know, if you obviously if you're staying on site, you can
get a bus and, or if you're staying close by, you can walk.
(01:02:47):
But you know, I actually think it's, it's that type of place
you go and you're there. And I'm not, I'm not big on
shopping. So I go for a beer and I pick.
A bit of food. Up and things like that.
We said a few days, Saratoga. Springs I wish we'd spent more
time at Dizzy Springs. We packed.
I think the time fell of Moore like doing the normal park
stuff. So it was sort of actually maybe
(01:03:08):
next time it's do Saratoga Springs, but then that's then
that's. That's another thing though as
well because actually when you, I know we talk about
accommodation in the, in the upcoming 1st, 1st of the month
show, but you're basically the closer you are the springs, the
less time you are likely to be in resort as well.
(01:03:30):
And that's on top, that's on topof your park time.
And so you're really, you're really stretching this whole
notion of if you go for, you know, again, if you go for an
expensive hotel, but you're spending it either in the
springs, in the parks, in the water park, and you're actually,
you're basically in that sort ofscheme where why would you pay
(01:03:52):
that? Yeah, but you're basically
being. Encouraged to be out with your
your resort and out certainly out with your hotel room.
And it's bizarre it because we all fall for it and we all think
well, you know, even go back to the last year that the night we
spent at the Grand Floridian. I can't really recall apart from
sleeping any time that we're actually in the hotel room.
(01:04:15):
And it's just like, it's a bit of a waste really, isn't it?
It's just, it's one of them things I can't get my head
around because you've got so much going on.
And and that's, that's in a way,I think that's the best thing
about the springs at the moment and the reinvention of it.
Because we went through that time when there was very little
there and you were basically nipping in for the shopping and
(01:04:37):
then you were out of there because it wasn't, it wasn't
worth eating and drinking. So, you know, I actually do feel
that that's a really magical place to actually add to your,
to your list. Oh, Matthew.
Matthew, there you go. Look at that.
You see? Please press your buttons.
He certainly is. I.
(01:04:58):
Used. To be.
Used to past tense, love to do stuff for so many reasons.
When it first opened, that wouldbe our place of choice every
single time. We went in at Cop and
conveniently located about halfway around World Showcase.
So if you're there and you know you're spending the whole day
(01:05:19):
there, by the time, particularlyin August, it looks like.
It might. Rain.
You happen to be in Italy and it's a perfect place to shelter
from the rain for an hour. However, the prices in
Teuticusdo have now absolutely made it unacceptable from from
my point of view to even go there because you used to be
(01:05:39):
able to go and have a drink, nowthey want you to order food as
well. Used to go in and have like 2
drinks each million might have some breadsticks or some pasta
or something just to to keep herfull.
But now the last time I went in there was probably, I reckon it
was 2022. There was me, Dan, Morgan and my
(01:06:00):
friend Simon, my cousin's husband.
We had two drinks each and Simonhad a beer because he came
later. We had to order food and I think
we ordered 3 desserts because wereally weren't hungry.
And I swear, no word of a lie, the bill came to nearly $250.
John. Swallowed.
(01:06:25):
They said you had to. Order food if you were sitting
there. Yeah, because it's got so you
can get a drink and you can leave.
So you can go to the bar, you can order a drink and you can
go. There are some seats outside if
you want to sit down outside. But it's table said that you
have to go in and order at the bar and then take and sit
outside. And in the middle of August,
you're going to then metal chairs, just saying you're going
(01:06:47):
to be branded by the time you'vehad a mouthful of your beer if
you want to sit inside. And the really annoying thing is
the theming inside is just perfect.
John, you've been to Verona recently.
It it absolutely is perfectly themed to like a Veronies wine
cellar. It's beautiful.
And it's such a. Great place but.
(01:07:09):
They're in my. View taking the proverbial
prices. I think we met up with.
Barry and Maxine there and they were waiting for us because we
were running late, but they werelike trying to offer them out
like you've got. Yeah, yeah.
It's like, well, luckily we got there, had our drinks and then
just. So yeah.
(01:07:31):
So now. I, I actually just won't go
there anymore. I have to say I've eaten there
only once and I we there was a table of us and we were all
like, wow. Did we?
Really pay this much for this terrible food because it was not
good. Our food wasn't awful.
I mean, I don't like to to Italia.
(01:07:51):
I think it's quite a base. I would rather go to Olive
Garden. I think you'd think it's quite a
basic Italian restaurant saying that.
It has some of the. Best bathrooms in Epcot?
Just saying, but I think the, the, the restaurant itself is
overinflated. I don't know why people go there
in comparison to be an athlete, which is 2 steps away and
(01:08:14):
fantastic. And I just, it's just so
disappointing that it's got to apoint where somewhere that we
really loved and we would alwaysgo.
I now just. Can't I?
Can't bring myself to go there because I just won't pay it.
So yeah, Carlos has said that's everywhere.
It's crazy expensive, but we still keep paying it.
I refuse to pay that now. I just think that there is a
(01:08:34):
point for me where it's like that is not worth it.
And and that and and actually and actually.
Claire, that's saying that is saying something and I don't
mean no, no, you're right at allbecause you're, you're, you're
your cut off point on that is, is actually probably much higher
than mine because like I always be accused of, I am tight and I
(01:08:54):
won't pay over the odds for stuff.
And I, I when we're all getting to that stage, I think it's
quite startling The we all have a point.
And actually, if anyone's listening to this, watching this
and you are going on a budget and you actually you walk into
one of these places and you thenlook at the menu.
Don't be afraid of walking out. Don't feel as if you have to
(01:09:17):
just bust the budget to just think that.
Oh, well, I wanted to come in here and it's not what kind of
what I think nobody will be offended.
It's just like it's not what it's not what I thought, not
what I thought it was going to be.
And just just so just make your excuses and leave.
Don't put yourself in that predicament where you you're
actually, you should stop on thecredit card that you know that
you can't pay when you get home and things are worth it.
(01:09:40):
No, it's not that. Kids, no, you're not missing
out. Yeah.
So yeah. So what were the?
Other ones on your. List that we haven't we haven't
mentioned and one that is somewhere I haven't been, but I
want to go having looked at the options and I don't know if any
of you guys have been and I've never even been to this resort.
So Port Orleans French Quarter scab cat club never been the
(01:10:06):
looking at the gumbo poutine. That sounds a bit of me.
And they do BBQ wings with Cajunfries in at the bar.
And I thought that sounded. Pretty good.
But I've never even been to a French Quarter as a resort to
look around. So I didn't have any of you.
No, I don't think. We have either.
Either. I've been.
(01:10:29):
I've been. For.
Beignets. Have you not been for beignets
because they're doughnuts and I don't get done you.
I wasn't totally you. We we went to Disneyland if.
I'm going to get beignets. I'm not going to Disneyland.
When I go all the way over therefor.
Beignets. Yeah, I've stayed at Saratoga
Springs and got the the boat over to water Lien's from just
(01:10:53):
for beignets. Just for beignets.
Oh, wow, they're nice beignets. Could have to be free beignets
for me to do that. Also.
Not venues. At all?
Yeah. I also went there on Mardi Gras
as well. They have a parade where?
Oh, see, I do. It works better.
Yeah, I got beignets while I wasthere because.
(01:11:15):
Oh yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. And and then the other.
Place that I had on all this, and I'm surprised no one else
has mentioned it, is Dahlia Lange.
Yeah. Because.
You know what the I know I go ona bang on about it.
The paprika chips that you get, they're $9 and it's like a
through full of them and they'reso addicted.
(01:11:37):
They're cooked fresh every day. They are incredible.
They are salty, they are savoury, they're everything that
I love. But they also do a really good
cheese plate there too, so. And they do they.
They. I don't know if they've still
got on the list. They have like an orange polenta
cake which was really nice. Sounds not made it.
(01:11:59):
But it wasn't really a dense tomato.
But we haven't yet made it Italian.
What I know it's quite nice and serious.
You've never been to Dalia? I thought you had.
I didn't realize you've been to the restaurant next door in
Toledo. And toy bridges.
Barcelona Lounge. There's some really great free.
Souvenirs in the bathrooms in between the two place the two
(01:12:21):
places, Yes. Just so you know, they have
like, you know when you dry yourhands in the in the bathrooms
and they have like the individual hand towels and like
a really thick napkin. And they're.
Branded. Right.
They're branded with. Coronado Springs on them, they
have been known. We've still got to dry.
(01:12:43):
My hands. And.
Take a couple. We've got it some.
We've just just just in case your hands get less.
Later on, isn't it like, yeah, we used them?
On Boxing Day, when we last year, I saw on Boxing Day
napkins because they're like infinitely better than Peyton
napkins. It's so good.
(01:13:04):
And yeah, you just love it. And that's one of the reasons to
go to Dali around just to stock up on.
Apparently. Carlos, don't.
Don't. Carlos.
Don't be worried, that's all. Yeah, bathrooms.
Bathrooms in Clara, definitely. It's nearly time to do another
bathroom. Show.
Yeah, yeah, there's been a while.
(01:13:24):
It's the one place that everybody goes, everybody visits
them. Yeah, yeah.
So yeah. I love darling about
Thanksgiving. Going to 1900 Park Fair on our
first day, $300.00 for the four of us.
Oh my gosh, that's a lot. Yeah.
(01:13:49):
Yeah, that, that. Is a lot, but I guess it's
Thanksgiving so they put the prices to the prices go up on
Thanksgiving. Usually they do special dinners.
Yeah, usually lots of them do special dinners and even places
that don't do a set menu, might will often bring in a set menu
like I think Ana Compass sometimes bring in a set menu
(01:14:09):
and and it's set menu on on thatday.
If we're if we're rounding up, can we, can we do a special
mention for top of the world Lounge?
Because that's probably for mostvisited.
And I, I even if you don't enjoythe food there, the food's all
right. The food's OK, It's nice, but
the cake, The cake. The pretzel.
(01:14:32):
Though the pretzel. Was huge.
Pretzel's really nice. Yeah, I.
Mean and bigger than when you get in Pandora.
Yeah, it's really and it. Tastes nice, yeah, but but the
seven layer chocolate cake? Swear.
It's at Can I? I will.
Say I'm not a big cake person and I certainly do not like
chocolate cake. As a rule, however, I make an
(01:14:55):
exception for that cake. We can't go jump.
It's a very good game. You can you.
Can come with us. You can't, Claire.
Didn't they like to say something?
You could have taken us in the summer.
You've. Already been Claire I.
Did but I didn't get to go inside you did they they they
(01:15:15):
have certain evenings where theyhave the like the fireworks to
the the. Additional party about $75.00
for Yeah, yeah, well the. Fireworks that you can go up
there and watch for free. Yeah, not many, not many members
are still paying for that. I don't think so.
(01:15:36):
But. Maybe next time, Claire.
You never know. You never know.
So we would go on all the. Cakes at Disney World and I
would. I thought you'd get a same photo
on all the. Lounges that all the all the.
Places that were not allowed into.
Yeah, yeah, I look forward to that one.
You do do. One on the DV.
On the Club 33 lounges. I'm into all of those now.
(01:15:58):
There you go. Sure.
Me. You're on your own, Yeah.
You might be on. Your own on that one.
Robin, I've just seen Sean's comment.
You're not wrong. The only bit I keep going.
It makes me think we need to. Go out to top of World Lounge.
We went there with Mary Chris tolast year.
(01:16:20):
We did, yes. Most last.
Year. Yeah, that was a nice evening.
We, we spent a long several hours in there and I'm not sure
we'll take Claire and John. I'm not sure whether.
We had the cake or not this. Year.
Well, Claire wouldn't want the cake anyway.
I'll take Claire and John There we have the cake.
It's. Fine, there you go.
Yeah, that's. Good.
(01:16:40):
Are we all hungry now? We've spent like around 20.
Minutes and I think. We're all desperate to If you if
you could pick what? I know we said if you could go
somewhere, if there was one lounge food item right now, you
could have it like Uber, Uber Eats across the Atlantic to you
now, what would it be? I've got a steakhouse. 71 lounge
(01:17:02):
I was going to send a Mac and which?
Type of burger, the burger, the burger.
OK. Becca.
I was going to say cheese and cheese at the 671 John.
I'll go with the onion. Rings at Steakhouse 71.
Robin. I think I'd go with the truffle
Truffle fries from Enchanted Rose.
(01:17:24):
Oh, lovely. And I'll.
Get the chicken wings from Nomad.
There you go. Sounds like a great dinner. 50
bits. I get the throne.
There we go. Right.
I'll just get that ordered for asecond.
It'd be it'd be in like 3 hours 3.
Coming by Concord, 24 hours, you've got this guy cycling.
(01:17:47):
I'm out in the app, it's swimming.
If you sound like you reach. Around there it'll still turn up
cold anyway, like oh. That's brilliant.
So. That's all for tonight's show.
So we've eaten our way through Disney Voice lounges and there's
some incredible foods out there that you don't have to get a
(01:18:08):
dining reservation for. So if you love tonight's show,
hit that like button, share it with your friends and subscribe
so you'd never miss a Wednesday night show.
So we've got a brand new podcastout on the 1st of November,
which is only a few days away. That's a show you might want to
miss as we try and answer how you can make your next trip as
cheap as possible or still keeping the magic.
(01:18:28):
So thank you for spending your evening with us and as always,
we will see you soon. See you real.
Soon. I'm dropping down the highway.
(01:18:49):
Gonna do this my way. I can feel it here.
Try to go.
