In this episode of The Greg McAfee Show, Greg unpacks the hard truth: chasing happiness can cost you everything. Emotional decisions, short-term pleasure, and entitlement can bankrupt more than your bank account—they can drain your purpose. Instead, Greg shares how to build mental toughness, grow through adversity, and value discipline over dopamine. Learn to focus on your mission, make long-term decisions, and find real joy in progress—not perfection. Most importantly, discover the strength that comes from leaning on something greater than yourself. If you're ready to stop chasing and start building, this episode is for you. 💥💪 00:00:00 Intro 00:02:14 Chasing Happiness can Cause Bankruptcy 00:03:03 They Don't Panic When Problems Come and They Don't Fold UNder Pressure 00:03:49 We Focus On The Mission, Not Just Emotion Or Pleasure 00:04:10 We Build Toughness, Not Entitlement 00:05:03 We Grow Through Adversity 00:05:39 We Value Discipline Over Dopamine 00:07:24 We Don't Waste Time Chasing What Doesn't Last 00:08:44 We Make Long Term Decisions 00:11:32 We Find Joy In Progress Not Perfection 00:11:54 We Lean On Something Greater Than Ourselves 00:13:27 Overview 00:13:59 Outro An award-winning entrepreneur, Greg McAfee has a passion for helping business owners take their businesses to new heights. In 1990, Greg started McAfee Heating and Air Conditioning Co., his only capital was a meager $274 and a well-used truck. Today, Greg runs one of the most successful HVAC companies in the Midwest and is called upon to share his expertise with other business owners all over the nation. In his new book, “Build and Grow Your HVAC Business”, Greg shares nine elements that will guide you in growing your business. He loves to inspire others to chase their dreams at full force, just as he has in his own life and business. Greg is still the working President of his company and puts the same systems and ideas in to place at his own laboratory, McAfee Heating and Air Conditioning Company, in Dayton, Ohio. Greg resides in Beavercreek, Ohio. Several years ago, Greg sent articles to national trade magazines and many were published, which led to coaching, which led to business boot camps/revivals, and now The Greg McAfee Show. All these services help HVAC business owners think different and help grow their companies. One of the most fun things I’ve done is disrupt the HVAC industry in our market. Are you a disruptor or a disruptee in your market? You have to change some of the ways you do business, you can’t do the same old things and expect different results. I talk about how you can still generate business in the slow seasons. One of the biggest ways I set my HVAC corporate office feel, started 8 to 8 at the same great rate, and same day installation or it was FREE! (We never had to give anything away)
