Susannah Scaroni is an elite wheelchair racer and Paralympic athlete renowned for her speed, determination, and groundbreaking achievements in adaptive sports. She began using a wheelchair following a car accident when she was five years old. Despite the challenges, Scaroni embraced an active lifestyle, eventually discovering her passion for wheelchair racing in high school.

She competed collegiately for the University of Illinois, a powerhouse for adaptive athletics, earning a degree in Nutrition while training under legendary coach Adam Bleakney. Scaroni’s talent and drive propelled her to the international stage, where she has become a dominant force in road races and track events alike.

Some of her career highlights include: 

• Paralympic Champion: Gold medalist in the Women’s T54 5000m at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. 

• Major Marathon Wins: Victories in prestigious races such as the Chicago Marathon and New York City Marathon. 

• World Championships Success: Multiple podium finishes, including golds in World Para Athletics Championships events. 

Beyond her athletic career, Scaroni is an advocate for inclusivity in sports and an inspiration to countless individuals with disabilities. Her relentless pursuit of excellence, coupled with her positive outlook, has solidified her status as a role model in both sports and life.When she’s not racing, Susannah is passionate about health and nutrition, and she dedicates time to mentoring the next generation of adaptive athletes.
