Carmen has been an author and writer since 2008 and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She has won awards on her book series of three, Patch Land Adventures. She was the presenting children’s book author for the 2014 Young Writers Conference and also volunteers for a non-profit organization, The Foundation Fighting Blindness, where she held the position as the President of the Denver Chapter, for the past 11 years. Carmen was the Chair for “The Blind Taste of the Rockies”, which is an annual fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for treatment and to help find a cure for blindness, all the while attending schools and libraries, for presentations/workshops and signings.
