Welcome to The Hip Replacement Podcast – a show for hip replacement patients by a hip replacement patient.
In this Episode, I shared the evolution of the fear I had surrounding the hip replacement.
First, I was in disbelief at the diagnoses and what was going to happen
Second, I was fearful in the days leading up the surgery
Third, I was absolutely terrified the morning of surgery
Fourth, I was uncertain about the outcome
Fifth, I became confident in the future
Leading up to my second surgery, 18 months after the first, I was very relaxed and ready to get through the surgery as well as the physical therapy so I could get back to the lifestyle I wanted. The confidence I established following the first surgery carried me through the process around the second surgery.
If you’re experiencing these different emotions before or after surgery, just keep moving forward. These are natural emotions to experience when going through such a life shock. There’s a better, more capable life waiting for you.
