Michele Bigley is a mother of two amazing sons, and considers motherhood to be 'the greatest journey I could ever imagine going on.' She is also an award-winning travel journalist and author who has written many books and articles featured worldwide in papers like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe and many others.
When she's not writing, Michele teaches classes at the University of San Diego, California (UCSD) where here environmental solutions-themed writing course focuses on the intersection of place and climate solutions.
In today's interview with host Andrea Morton on The Infinite Capacity Podcast, Michele shares insights she gained over time while traveling with her growing family.
Michele explains ways that you can travel with your own family in a powerful, life-changing and fun manner by actually getting involved in the communities that you are visiting and giving back to them. Parents and kids working together can experience life-changing 'hands-on learning' that leaves their destination a bit better than they found it. Inspiring!
Michele invites listeners into her own family's eye-opening travel experiences, like visiting a coral reef in Australia, standing on a receding glacier in the Rockies, teaching her sons how to become conscious of the role we have in the places we visit; and how to have a positive impact on them... like planting trees in Hawaii with her younger son; restoring an ancient fish pond together and much more.
This is a wonderful conversation about how to use family tourism for GOOD, become thoughtful stewards of the planet, and make amazing memories along the way.
