Speaker 1 (00:01):
If you're looking to
create the very best year of
your life so far, where you'veperhaps struggled in the past,
then this episode is for you, because I'm going to share with
you of a recipe of where you'reusing your mind in a way that
really, really works.
Stay tuned and find out morewhen you know what you want.
(00:31):
The reason is always because ofthis is because you think that
it will make you feel better, and when you want to feel better
and you really really mean itwith every fiber of your being,
that's when you will start toshow up for yourself.
You will actually begin to wantto take the actions that take
you in the directions of yourdreams and goals.
Hello and welcome to the JamesGranstrom podcast.
In this episode, we are going toditch New Year's resolutions in
(00:54):
favor of something else.
Did you know about 40 to 45% ofpeople create New Year's
resolutions, and do you know howmany of those are actually
successful?
The University of Scantonrecorded that 8% of people
create successful New Year'sresolutions.
That is like a paltry amount, and they found that 75% of
(01:17):
people give up on their NewYear's resolutions after one
week, and the reason being isbecause they're not working in
harmony with the universe.
They are working against theuniverse, trying to push through
, trying to resist through, which will never work.
What we're going to do is we'regoing to scrap traditional New
Year's resolutions in favor ofcreating intention, because it's
(01:41):
intention in, from within, andtension means to hold.
So when you have an idea or avision in mind, you're holding
that, and every action or wordthat you speak is carried or
laden with this energy ofintention.
That is really, really powerfuland that is what I started to
(02:02):
use a few years ago, whichhelped me build this channel,
which helped me build a thrivingbusiness, which helped me
improve the quality of myrelationships, which helped me
increase my financial abundancesignificantly.
And I want to share with you howI did it.
And one of the best ways thatyou can do it is by
understanding that when you havean intention, it's different
(02:24):
from a resolution.
A resolution says I will dothat, but an intention is I'm
doing it and I'm showing theuniverse and myself every single
day that I'm moving in thatdirection.
And in common hours, in one dayin the future, you'll
accidentally stumble across theresult that you want, because
you've been working towards itall the time.
(02:45):
So I want to share with yousome of the new habits that I
began to employ, which arereally different and they're a
lot easier than one thinks.
And then I want to share withyou how you can create and use
that blueprint for yourself toget the results that you want.
So, when you're creating habitswith intention, now you're
(03:08):
working towards your dream everysecond of the day, and there's
not a day that you're notworking on a dream that you're
bringing to life.
That's exciting.
So you're planting the seed andyou're watering it every single
day, and that's what I want tohelp you.
I want to help you become thegardener of your life, with your
thoughts, your words and yourdeeds meaning your actions, so
(03:28):
that you can net the resultsthat you want in this new year.
When you know what you want, thereason is always because of
this is because you think thatit will make you feel better.
And when you want to feelbetter and you really, really
mean it with every fiber of yourbeing, that's when you will
start to show up for yourself.
(03:49):
You will actually begin to wantto take the actions that take
you in the directions of yourdreams and goals.
When you understand the reasonwhy you want something, then
that becomes what is known asthe emotional driver.
And when we're setting NewYear's resolutions but in this
case, intention what we'reactually doing is the reason why
(04:11):
we want the new relationship,or we want the improved
financial condition, or we wantthe greater health, or we want
the new career or the new house, whatever it may be.
When you know the reason why,the action just becomes
secondary.
It just becomes.
That's what I do, because thisis what I'm working towards, and
a lot of people actually don'tknow the reasons why they want
(04:33):
something.
They just want it, and that isgood, but it's not good enough.
We need to know the reason why,and the reason why is often
because of a pain we've felt inthe past.
So I'm wanting to help you movefrom pain to possibility, to
let you know it is possible withbaby steps, and those baby
(04:53):
steps are the actions that youcan take.
And when I first started toapply this, maybe about five
years ago, I noticed everythingbegan to shift, and shift really
quickly and easily, whereasbefore, for the last 15 years
prior, it was really slow and Icouldn't understand why.
(05:14):
And until I began to reallygrasp this insight and the
insight is what you resistpersists, and until you actually
believe it's possible, thenyou're only going to go around
in circles, and I felt that atsome level of my being I didn't
think it's possible.
But then I began to think well, what if it's possible for me
(05:38):
and if other people can do it,surely I can do it?
And then my mind began towander to new levels of
expansion.
And that's really what we need.
We need to know that it'spossible for you, and in order
for things to be possible foryou, you need to always ask the
question why am I doing this?
(05:59):
And when you know why, nothingwill stop you.
So let's move in to some ofthese new habits that will
create lasting change for you.
There are three that I'm goingto share with you today, and
they're three really simplestrategies, but do not
underestimate their power, because they really leverage the
(06:19):
power of the universe for you.
When you want something new tocome into your life, the first
thing you need to do is makeroom for it, and a lot of people
just overlook this.
But until you make room forsomething, nothing new can come
in, and that's because of thisone universal principle nature
(06:39):
abhors a vacuum.
If you ever go into your drawerin a house, there's a drawer
with loads of pens and paperclips and all that kind of stuff
, and the universal principlenature haws a vacuum just really
means this if you make space, nature will fill it in one way
or another.
Many years ago, I dug thesetrenches in my home to create a
(07:02):
border around the garden, tocreate some type of like fence,
and I needed all the bushes, particularly box bushes, and I
think it was about a week or twolater my grandma asked me to go
around to her house and shesaid, can you help me remove
some things from the garden?
And my grandma had an enormousgarden and she gave me like 30
(07:23):
of these box bushes exactly whatwe needed to be able to create
that border that I was creating.
That I was going to go out andbuy but I fortunately got given
for free.
This literally blew my mind thatwhen you create space, the
universe will fill it, and sothe first principle is to
(07:44):
declutter your home, your emails, your inboxes, your sent
messages, your subscriptions.
You've got to decluttereverything, because if you want
amazing new stuff to come in,you've got to let go of the old.
So how good is your computerright now?
How clean is the screen?
(08:05):
Are things in order?
Are your subscriptions in order?
Have you got any subscriptionsthat you could let go of and
save yourself some money?
Because when you let go ofsubscriptions, it could save
yourself some money.
When you're not using it, whatyou're doing is allowing space
for financial abundance to flowback in because you're not
wasting money.
The key thing to havingabundance is by using money and
(08:28):
spending it wisely, and if youare just buying and having
subscriptions that you're notusing, they're a waste of money,
which means that you're notusing your wisdom to its
advantage, which could createspace in other areas for you to
perhaps invest that money inother areas that would be
worthwhile.
Now, with regards to yourcomputer, your files and your
(08:50):
emails, when you create space, you will also create space for
your hard drive.
That will also create newopportunities to come to you,
because when your hard drive isfull, you can't put any new
photos on there.
You can't put any new photos onthere.
You can't put any new memorieson there.
So what you need to do is cleanout your emails.
You need to clean out photos ifyou don't use them or you've
(09:13):
got duplicates.
All these types of things willactually create energetic space.
This decluttering will enhancethe amount of energy that will
flow to you, because natureabhors a vacuum when you create
the space.
The universe will give you morefresh energy In your home.
Can you clean your home?
Can you have it ready?
Can you take any clothes thatyou're not using anymore?
(09:35):
My key rule is if you haven'tused it in a year, it's time to
let it go and take it to thecharity shop.
When you are creating space, the universe will fill it with.
I was telling someone very closeto me recently about this
principle of decluttering thewardrobe and it's just amazing.
Just in a short amount of timeI think it was about two months
(09:55):
ago that they started puttingbags of clothes and taking them
out, and now I've received somany new clothes.
It's been actually incredibleand it just makes me laugh,
because this principle justworks, whether you like it or
not, and I'm going to say to youdo not believe me, but why
don't you try emptying yourwardrobe and noticing what shows
(10:18):
up?
You might be given some clothes, you might win a competition,
which is what happened to me.
You might come into some extramoney to go and buy some new
clothes.
But either way, when you makespace, the universe will fill it
, and this is a satisfying wayto recognize that you can create
lasting change in your life byapplying the rule of making room
(10:41):
for that which you want.
Also, if you wanted to attractlove into your life, are you
making space for that person inyour life, in your bedroom?
Are you leaving a drawer forthem to perhaps put their
clothes?
Are you making room at thetable for them?
Are you decluttering your homeso that they can come and be
with you and stay in your home?
Because this is all veryimportant and a lot of people
(11:03):
don't think this.
This is an intention.
When you're sitting down todinner, are you creating space
for two people, or are youhaving a dinner, a TV dinner,
just by yourself?
Sit at a table, make it elegant, feel like you're having a
beautiful dinner party for two, even if it's just for one.
It's amazing that just creatingthis space, even though it may
(11:26):
seem delusional, is justactually creating this beautiful
intention that will attract youwhat you want in a time you
won't even imagine, but which isdivine time.
Another thing to ask yourself inthe decluttering process is
what can I let go of that's nolonger serving me, so that I can
(11:46):
feel good?
This is a really, really goodquestion, because when you ask
yourself a good question, yourmind's going to give you the
answer.
But if you're only askingquestions which is well, I'm
never getting ahead or I feelstuck, then you're only
perpetuating that, and it's agood question that interrupts
and can change the trajectory ofyour life for lasting change.
(12:07):
So when you ask yourself, whatcan I let go of that's no longer
serving me so that I can feelgood, you will will get an
answer.
And one of the best things todo is to let go of physical
things that have attachment tothem.
So when you can releaseattachments to old memories that
create an emotional weight onyou, that will be so incredibly
(12:31):
freeing for you.
So one of the things that I didis I used to let go of pictures
and clothing that hadattachments and association to
certain people that were nolonger in my life, and when I
began to do that, it was amazingthe freedom and the new energy
that came in.
So consider asking yourself whatcan I let go of which has
emotional weight and baggage andattachment so that I can feel
(12:52):
free and happy, because that'sreally what you want.
All new energy must be fresh, and one of the best ways we can
do it is by releasing attachmentto things and memories that
make us go back to the past, andsometimes that's a really good
thing, but you know when it'sactually weighing on your mind
and what the world needs isbetter questions.
(13:14):
What the world needs is betterquestions.
What the world needs is peoplewith fresh energy and people who
are lighter.
So you've got to ask yourselfwhat can I let go of so that I
can feel good?
And physical things in our lifeactually weigh us down
emotionally and weight-wise, andso when you're able to let go
of those things and thoseattachments, you will become
(13:34):
free and usher in the new, whichwill be the forbearer for you
having transformation in thisnew year.
So the second strategy that willcreate lasting change imbued
with intention is to writeyourself a list, a list of
things that you want, and Iimplore you to only put about
five or six things on theremaximum, because what the mind
(13:57):
needs is something that it canfocus on and believe, and people
in the past say be reallyspecific.
And I'm going to say don't bespecific.
And the reason why I'm going tosay that is because if you're
one of those people who have setresolutions before and never
succeeded in following throughon some of those specific goals
(14:18):
you've had, which was maybe Iwant to make a million dollars
this year and you haven't doneit, then the reason that you set
those specific goals is becauseyou haven't yet believed that
it was possible.
So when you set a general goaland it happens, your mind will
now go oh, if that has happened, then I can actually believe
(14:39):
that maybe this goal is possibleas well.
But when you get generalinitially, something magical
happens.
The mind opens.
So on that list of what I reallywanted, I wrote goals for the
universe to do.
And when I looked at that listof what I really wanted, I wrote
goals for the universe to do.
And when I looked at that listwhich I put on my fridge, I can
(15:01):
honestly say all of that Iachieved.
And I achieved that becausethey were so general and I
believed it was possible.
And when I look at that list,it's blown my mind because it
was so simple.
But you know what's reallyamazing?
They happened because I putthem somewhere where I could see
them regularly and just allowmy mind to just absorb the idea,
(15:23):
and I put them on my fridge.
So what I want you to do is justget a piece of paper and write
out five or six things that youreally want to have happen.
What I wrote was a fulfillingcareer, a wonderful new
relationship, financialabundance, international travel,
health and vitality, and funnew friends to play with.
(15:46):
That's what I wrote, reallysimple, and I went universe,
bring this to me in any whichway you see possible, and that's
exactly what happened to me.
So having that is just anintention of what you want.
So that's your vision.
So, as we move into numberthree, what we're going to do is
combine number two, which is,what do I really want, and
(16:09):
you've stated your five or sixthings, and then what would it
feel like and what actions couldI take?
So one of the things that Ifirst like to do is, if I want
to have a fulfilling career or Iwant to have wonderful new
clients, I ask myself what wouldthat feel like?
And I write down.
(16:30):
It would feel like fun, itwould feel like connection, it
would feel easy, it would feelnatural, it would feel
fulfilling, it would feelsatisfying, it would feel
abundant.
It would feel like I'm bringingout the best in myself and in
them.
These are the types of feelingsa new client feels like for me,
(16:52):
or satisfying work feels likefor me.
And if it were a lovingrelationship, what would that
feel like?
That would feel like home.
That would feel like love.
It would feel like easy.
It would feel like fun.
It would feel like greatconnection.
It would feel like laughter.
It would feel like playfulness.
It would feel like expansion, feel easy and you just keep
(17:13):
going on, just try and fill thatup.
Those emotions that you feelare the signature that draws
that to you.
And when you know what you want, which is if you're ready for a
new relationship, what doesthat feel like?
And then, be that version ofyourself now and then.
If you are looking for financialabundance is what does
(17:33):
financial abundance feel like?
If I'm wanting to increase thefinancial income and assets that
I have in my life, what doesthat feel like?
Financial abundance feels likeease.
It feels natural.
It feels flowing.
It feels enjoyable.
It feels unlimited.
It feels pleasurable.
(17:54):
It feels enjoyable and feelspleasurable.
It feels enjoyable and you justkeep going around.
It feels like I'm unlimited.
It feels like I have choice, itfeels like I can go places, I
can do things, it feels freeing,it feels like adventure, it
feels like responsibility, itfeels like fresh air, it feels
(18:17):
like there's always more coming, and it doesn't feel like worry
and it doesn't feel like stressand it doesn't feel like a lack
of peace and it doesn't feellike that.
It feels like ease, it feelsnatural, it feels like I've got
choice.
Do you see what I mean?
So these are the types offeelings that I write down on a
piece of paper and then I beganto emote, I began to feel and
(18:41):
this is the energy signature ofabundance, or this is the energy
signal of romance, or this isthe energy signature of career
success.
This is the energy signature ofx.
Whatever it is, you find theword that creates the feeling of
the intention that you'rewanting to draw to you.
Most people fail because theydon't do this.
(19:04):
So I practice the energeticsignature of that which I'm
wanting to draw into my life.
And when I begin to draw thisinto my life, I am literally a
walking magnet for good stuff.
I'm a walking magnet for greenlights, and things happen to me
that sometimes just like wow, there's another good thing.
(19:24):
There's another good thing, there's another good thing,
whereas before in my life I'd bewalking around going where is
it, where is it, where is it,and it was never anywhere to be
seen.
But as soon as I started towrite the emotions that I wanted
to feel down, that would comewith the association of that
which I'm wanting to draw intomy life, which might mean, let's
(19:45):
say, financial abundance.
Then I noticed I became moreresponsible with my money.
I started to be really thankfulfor what came in, I started to
be really appreciative for whatwent out and I'd be looking for
other things that I could investin.
I was looking for literallyeverything that I had as, wow, I
drew that into my life.
I drew that into my life.
(20:05):
And abundance, and financialabundance, is more than just
money coming in.
It's good timing, it's goodpeople, it's great relationships
, it's good opportunity, it'svitality, it's sleeping well,
it's resting well, it's laughingplenty, it's having good ideas.
All of these things, orabundance, is all based on this
(20:27):
energy signature that you havetotal control over and no one
else has.
The reason why most people don'tsucceed at resolutions is
because they're not broadcastingenergetic signatures or
energetic feelings out longenough, because most people are
rubbish at focusing, and whatI'm sharing with you is three
simple things that you can do.
(20:48):
Number one you declutter.
Number two, you ask yourselfwhat you really want.
And number three, you askyourself how would having this
make me feel?
And the caveat and the bonussection now is what could I do
about it?
So if there's something thatyou could do to maybe encourage
new friends is what sport do youlike that you could start
(21:11):
potentially to meet new friends?
Or what social club could yougo and visit to start meeting
like-minded friends?
Could you join a gym?
Could you go to self-helpseminars, because you never know
who you can meet at some place.
It's just amazing how thisworks when you recognize your
intention is is that I want todraw wonderful new friends into
(21:32):
my life.
If you want that, then you needto put yourself in an
environment that's differentfrom what you have been doing,
and so asking yourself, whatwould a friendly version of
myself do and where would theygo?
And if I want to increase myfinancial abundance, well, what
would the wealthy version ofmyself do here?
(21:53):
What would he wear?
Where would he go, what wouldhe eat?
What would he spend his moneyon?
What wouldn't he spend hismoney on?
What would he learn to investin?
What wouldn't he invest in?
Asking yourself these questionsand living from this space truly
creates transformational change, because you're meaning it
(22:14):
every second of the day.
Need to ask yourself is wherewould I be wise with my cash?
You know you've got to askyourself these questions the
entire time, because when you'reasking yourself an empowering
question, you're going to get ananswer, and when you really
mean it, which is the emotionaldriver, that is your why, and
the reason why is because youwant to feel better.
(22:34):
You want to have a long-lasting, thriving life.
You want to feel better.
You want to have a long lasting, thriving life.
You want to have betterrelationships.
You want to have better qualityhealth and you want to have
wealth and choices to be able todo things you want to do.
But most importantly is youwant to be able to contribute to
the livelihoods of the worldand other people as well.
And that's really difficult todo when you're always feeling
(22:55):
lack to do when you're alwaysfeeling lack.
So we need, in order to stepinto this creative, abundant,
magnetic version of yourself, isyou want to know what you want
to have, you want to know howyou want it to feel and you want
to know what you can do aboutit, because we must act in the
physical world.
When I first started doing thesepodcasts, I was like I'm not a
podcaster.
What would a podcaster do?
(23:15):
He'd do a podcast every week.
So for two years straight I dida podcast every week and so I
became a podcaster and becauseof that, new, amazing
opportunities came into my lifeand five years in, even more
amazing opportunities have comeinto my life.
The amount of people that reachout to me, the amount of
(23:36):
amazing new people that I get tome, is all because, just that I
because, quite frankly, I wasdrinking and having a really
(24:00):
topsy-turvy lifestyle I askedmyself what would a healthy
person do, and I changed my diet, I stopped drinking, I changed
the clothes, I even, to acertain extent, changed the
people I was hanging out withand I really, really meant it,
and I started a meditationpractice.
So all of these things began tounfold.
It probably took about a yearand a half before I began to
(24:23):
actually change that trajectoryof the health, moving out of
some alcohol addiction beforethings really became amazing,
but it was four months of ameditation practice, asking
myself what would the healthy, peaceful version of myself do,
and that's when I was guided tomeditation.
And so, within four months ofthat, I managed to wean myself
(24:44):
off, naturally alcohol and intohaving a sober lifestyle, which
actually saved my life.
So when you ask these questionswhat would health do?
What would a wealthy person do?
What would a successful versionof myself do?
What would me being the perfectweight, what would I do and
(25:08):
what wouldn't I do?
And then take the actions thatfollow.
You'll be surprised anddelighted and mesmerized by what
happens, because when you ask aquestion, the mind will have to
follow, because the mind islike google tell me what I would
do if this was my reality.
And so you're now living fromthe reality and taking the
(25:30):
actions.
Now, and after a few months ofkeeping doing this, you're going
to change your entire life, andthat is how you create lasting
change.
Because when you become wealthyand become even more wealthy,
or you become healthy and you'reenjoying so much vitality, you
are still asking the samequestions how can I preserve my
health, how can I preserve mywealth?
(25:50):
How can I continue to improvethe quality of my relationships?
How can they deepen?
How can I can contribute to thelives of other people in more
meaningful ways than what I'malready doing?
And when you ask that questionover and over again, in all
these different categories thatyou've written down and put on
your fridge now, you'll begin tobe living from that reality,
(26:13):
and when you live from thatreality, your external world
will begin to change and unfold.
One of the things that reallyblew me this year was I wrote
what I really wanted wasinternational travel, and I
didn't know where I wanted to go.
I was in a new country, in anew environment, with not many
people that I knew, but I justknew these principles, and so I
(26:35):
made it a bit of an experiment.
I made it a bit of anexperiment, I made it a bit of a
game, and that's what I wantyou to do.
I want you to make this a funexperiment rather than setting
resolutions saying I must dothis and I must do that.
Make this new year anexperiment for you to recognize
that you are a powerful creatorand anything is possible.
But one of the things I want toshare with you is a story that
(26:59):
happened to me back in June ofthis year, which was I was
writing international travel andI didn't know where I wanted to
go.
I just wanted internationaltravel.
And I was invited, with somefriends that I just made, to
Morocco, to Marrakesh, and wewent for an amazing weekend and
I was blown away that it was notonly fun with such like-minded
(27:21):
people, but also it was in aluxurious setting as well and it
was all affordable as well.
And it was amazing and I feelso blessed that I could do that.
And only a week later, myfriend asked me to go mountain
climbing with him in Chamonix.
My friend asked me to gomountain climbing with him in
Chamonix and I had a gap in myschedule of that week and I
(27:41):
couldn't believe it.
I was like you know what?
What would the wealthiestversion of myself do?
And I happened to be in a verygood situation.
So I went on that holiday aswell and we went mountain
climbing and it was amazing.
And more things like thatcontinue to happen.
We went mountain climbing andit was amazing, and more things
like that continue to happen.
And then, when I look back onthe notes that I put on my
fridge, I recognize I'm actuallyliving what I wrote down on
(28:04):
this sheet because I was alwaysasking myself what would the
wealthy version of myself do?
And when other things came up,I would say, no, he wouldn't do
that.
So I'd be very mindful of whatI was doing, what I was spending
my money on, but, moreimportantly, where I was
investing my energy.
And I wanted this year to beone of having an experiment to
see how much can I invest inmyself and how much do these
(28:27):
principles work.
So I'm sharing with you theseprinciples so you can transform
the quality of your life, butmake it fun doing so.
Just understanding how you canleverage the power of the
universe to work in concert orin harmony with it rather than
against it.
Trying to use willpower tobattle through, which is why
(28:49):
only eight percent of peopleever seem to attain their goals
when they're setting new year'sresolutions.
Try this, this general approach.
Notice how easy and more fun itbecomes, rather than feeling
it's a must.
When you are writing this down, this seems all doable, and when
you're asking yourself betterquestions, you are surely gonna
(29:10):
get better answers.
