What makes a song lyric truly unforgettable? Is it the clever wordplay, the raw emotion, or the way it perfectly captures a universal feeling? Jay Franze and Tiffany Mason dive headfirst into this question, sparking a fascinating conversation with their listeners about the lines that have stuck with them through the years.

From Garth Brooks' bittersweet reflection that "I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had to miss the dance" to Johnny Cash's chilling confession "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die," country music has always excelled at distilling complex emotions into single, powerful lines. Listeners share their favorites while Jay boldly champions an unconventional choice from songwriter Mike Errico that demonstrates how deeply personal our connections to lyrics can be.

The episode weaves through current country music headlines, including John Michael Montgomery's retirement announcement, George Strait's upcoming Kennedy Center Honors, and Lainey Wilson's remarkable journey from living in a camper behind a recording studio to having her own exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The hosts break down the latest Billboard country charts, with Tyler Hubbard claiming the top spot and rising stars continuing to make their mark.

Things take a relatable turn when Jay and Tiffany share their recent concert experiences – from the frustration of navigating venue accessibility issues to standing in seemingly endless merchandise lines. These stories highlight the dedication of music fans and the sometimes challenging realities of the live music experience.

Whether you're drawn to inspirational anthems or gut-punch breakup lines, this episode celebrates the power of songwriting and the special connection between artists and listeners. Want to join the conversation? Head over to jayfranzy.com and share the lyrics that have become part of your life's soundtrack!

Tiffany Mason (01:48):
Well, in the news we have John Michael Montgomery
.
And man, do I love this guy.
He sings I Swear and he singsSold.

Tony Scott (01:54):
Love the song Sold Sold to the lady in the second
row.
She's an eight, she's a nine,she's a ten.

Tiffany Mason (02:02):
I know she's got red lips, blonde hair, blue eyes
.
She's an eight, she's a nine,she's a ten, I know she's got
red lips, blonde hair, blue eyes, All right, okay, so he is
announcing that he is going toretire after his final
performance on December 12th atLexington Rupp Arena in his home
state.
The farewell concert willfeature his brother, his son and
his son-in-law.

Jay Franze (02:19):
Yeah, Not bad huh, pretty cool.
Rupp Arena, not far from me.
It's right next to my office,so it's not far at all.
I had an opportunity to meethis son.
I went to dinner or breakfast.
I went to breakfast with thegovernor and his son was there
performing.

Tiffany Mason (02:36):
Yes, that's right , I said I went to breakfast
with the governor.

Jay Franze (02:39):
Everybody hear that I went to a fundraiser for the
governor.

Tiffany Mason (02:44):
He was there and his son, walker Montgomery I
believe it is came on andperformed Just an acoustic set,
but it was very nice, very cool, and I wrote the two and two
together that Walker Montgomerywas John Michael Montgomery's
son, so pretty cool.
Okay, well, george Strait, tobe honored in 2025.

(03:05):
George Strait is the winner ofover 60 number one hits, 33
platinum albums and is among therecipients of the 2025 Kennedy
Center Honors.
This will also be in December, hosted by President Trump, and
it will celebrate his legacycontributions to music.

Jay Franze (03:25):
You would think that would make him probably the
most important man in countrymusic.

Tiffany Mason (03:34):
I mean the thought crossed my mind, Jay so
Laini Wilson's journey fromsmall town girl to country icon.
It's being showcased in the newHall of Fame exhibit.
It is at the Country Music Hallof Fame and it traces her rise
from Baskin Louisiana to herGrammy-winning success,
highlighting her stage outfits, her first guitar and other

(03:55):
personal keepsakes.
The exhibit runs through Juneof 2026.

Jay Franze (04:01):
She in between that span in the middle somewhere she
lived in a camper behind therecording studio for three years
.

Tiffany Mason (04:12):
Just to be at the recording studio.
I mean, it depends on thecamper.
If it's a nice camper, it'sjust like having a tiny home.

Jay Franze (04:21):
That's commitment right there, and we talk about
that drive and everything.
For sure, she's at the top ofthe list right now.

Tiffany Mason (04:30):
But it paid off.
I mean, now she's in the Hallof Fame with an exhibit of her
own.
Didn't we just report that whenwe were at CMA Fest, dolly
Parton just had?
Oh no, taylor Swift had hersright.

Jay Franze (04:44):
We discussed Lainey Wilson being there and that we
would have liked to have gone, but we had to prioritize.

Tiffany Mason (04:49):
Our tight schedule?
We do.

Jay Franze (04:51):
We have a tight schedule, because we're very
important people.

Tiffany Mason (04:56):
Well, molly Tuttle, so Long Little Miss
Sunshine is a bluegrass poptriumph.
So Tuttle's new album blendscountry folk and bluegrass with
pop flair.
It's been praised for itsauthenticity and emotional depth
.
I feel like we are hearing alot of this Americana folk

(05:17):
bluegrass.
It seems to be trending rightnow.

Jay Franze (05:21):
Molly was the first woman to ever win.

Tiffany Mason (05:25):
I think it was guitar player of the year in
bluegrass that's pretty coolit's pretty impressive it is
pretty impressive you know, bluegrass, capital of the world
I mean the amazing things thatcome out of kentucky.

Jay Franze (05:40):
You know what I mean , jay amazing things that are
coming into kentucky.
Huh Um right Because.
Whoa whoa.
Watch yourself the button'sright over here.

Tiffany Mason (05:51):
I was going to say you came out of Boston.

Jay Franze (05:53):
I came out of Boston , I came in to Kentucky.

Tiffany Mason (05:56):
Amen Amen.

Jay Franze (05:58):
Sing it sister.

Tiffany Mason (06:01):
Well, I'm going to now talk about Mr Randy
Travis.
He is turning dinner intodisaster relief.
Following his 2013 stroke, travis attended the fundraiser
for dinner at Joe T Garcia's inFort Worth.
It was hosted with the TexasRangers Rafael, and the event
raised funds for flood reliefthrough a charity auction.

Jay Franze (06:24):
Send your hate mail to Tiffany at DaveFrenzycom.

Tiffany Mason (06:30):
I do not know this athlete.
I'm so sorry, texas Rangers, but I do know Raphael.
I do not say that so it was him.
But yeah, so, stars and fans, they were raising money for
flood relief.

Jay Franze (06:41):
Yeah, he got in on the signing of an acoustic
guitar.
Then that turned into.
Well, I'll tell you what we'llalso do dinner, and then his
wife picked a location becauseit's her favorite restaurant.

Tiffany Mason (06:55):
Okay, joe T Garcia's.
So if you want good food, mrsTravis is saying it's worth that
in Fort Worth there you go.
Isn't Texas also known for adifferent style of barbecue?

Jay Franze (07:09):
Barbecue yeah, that's what they're most famous
for.

Tony Scott (07:18):
Between.

Jay Franze (07:19):
Kentucky, tennessee, well, and the Carolinas, as
well as Texas.
They're all the big barbecueplaces.
I'm sure there's more.
Please don't get offended.
The South is known for barbecueand they compete quite a bit
about it.
I do not get involved in thatso I don't know the details, but
I know that Tennessee, texas, carolinas, they all have a
certain twist on barbecue.

Tiffany Mason (07:37):
Well, I like that .
In Texas there's like the sweetbarbecue.
I really love me some Carolinamustard.
That's what I really like.

Jay Franze (07:44):
I don't know, is that part of the barbecue
situation here, or are we justthrowing out all?

Tiffany Mason (07:49):
the things it is.
It's one of the sauces.
It's one of the sauces, mm-hmm,yep.

Jay Franze (07:53):
I'll tell you, when I moved to Nashville, barbecue
is the number one food you'llfind.
At every event you go to, theysupply barbecue.
So I got so burnt out onbarbecue it's ridiculous.

Tiffany Mason (08:06):
But every cowboy has to take care of the
livestock on their ranch andthat's how they live, jay.
Again send your hate mail totiffany at jayfranzycom.

Jay Franze (08:29):
That was the most authentic accent I could do.
My wife, being from the South, cooks barbecue on a regular
basis.
As a matter of fact, we had itfor dinner tonight.
So I really do enjoy what shemakes.
I mean, she makes very goodfood.
She doesn't make Italian foodvery well, but she makes
barbecue very well.
She makes.

Tiffany Mason (08:44):
Southern food.
Very well, I was just going tosay for all the times, jennifer,
are you hearing this For allthe times?
He's mean, not mean, but hemakes jokes at her expense.
He was giving such a greatcompliment and then you had to
go and ruin it.

Jay Franze (08:56):
Oh, she knows it.
She'll be the first to tell you.
I come from an Italian familyand they cook sauce in a certain
way, mama.
You know they cook sauce in acertain way.
Mama's a meatball, all of thosethings.
Again, hate mail toTiffanyJFrancycom.
So my family gave her a recipe.
You know Italians don't everstick to a recipe.
You know it's always these arethe guidelines, and here's a

(09:17):
little bit of love goes into it.

Tiffany Mason (09:18):
And a little.

Jay Franze (09:19):
My wife, for whatever reason, cannot
replicate the love portion of it, I guess.
So therefore it never tastesquite the same.
It's not bad.

Tiffany Mason (09:29):
It's just not quite the same.
I was listening to thisinterview on a restaurant and
they were talking aboutmeatballs and it was very
clearly a very Italian familyand he was saying that his mom
still gets up and makes themeatballs for the restaurant.
Oh yeah, no one can replicatemama's meatballs.

Jay Franze (09:47):
No, you really can't .
So anyways, but my wife is verygood at all of the southern
comfort foods, you know.
Especially I love cornbread.
She also makes corn casserole.

Tiffany Mason (10:00):
I mean all things like that are very good.
In a heartwarming twist twist, sesame Street favorites Elmo and
Abby Cadabby made their grandold Opry debut donning cowboy
hats, duetting with LaurenAlaina and Taylor Lynn, which I
had, to refresh my memory, sheis Loretta Lynn's granddaughter

(10:21):
and she was actually on AmericanIdol, if that name rings a bell
for anybody else.
So yes, sang a duet with LaurenAlaina, taylor Lynn in the
celebration of the Opry's 100thanniversary.
Their appearance marked a funintergenerational bridge
connecting music and belovedchildhood characters.
Well, the next story is MorganWall, and he is kind of snubbing

(10:45):
it the grammys in the past, butstopped short of saying there's

(11:06):
bad blood between the singerand the recording academy.
Did he bring some of that onhimself?
And maybe there's some, youknow?

Jay Franze (11:15):
quote unquote national politics being played
there yeah, I don't know wellenough to tell you, but wouldn't
surprise me he.
He is known for pushing theboundaries, we'll say, and some
people like that, some peopledon't.
Some people give him a hardtime for it.
I'm sure in Nashville, if he'spushing that hard behind the

(11:35):
scenes he's probably not makinga lot of friends.
But he's another one thatstarted off in the rock world.
I think that's part of whatmakes me like his music.
He also he auditioned for theVoice.
Do you know that?

Tiffany Mason (11:52):
What no?

Jay Franze (11:53):
Yeah, he was.

Tiffany Mason (11:54):
He auditioned for it, but then he didn't make the
show.

Jay Franze (11:57):
He made it.
I don't know how far he made it.
He was on Usher's team, Ibelieve.

Tiffany Mason (12:02):
Oh my gosh, I'm going to go back and check that
out.

Jay Franze (12:04):
It'd be interesting because he was doing rock, not
country.

Tiffany Mason (12:08):
Right.

Jay Franze (12:09):
So it'd be interesting to see how that goes
Right.
I'd love to see it.

Tiffany Mason (12:11):
I could totally see that about him though.

Jay Franze (12:13):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying, that's what I like,
and that's what I like about theway country music swings these
days.
Is they swing with more of ayeah?

Tiffany Mason (12:21):
we like country with a little rock flair to it.
Yes, we do.
Well, speaking of Lauren Alinafrom two stories ago, so Martina
McBride actually is helpingLauren Alina through some of the
motherhood struggles.
Her daughter's not that old Ican't remember, maybe just a
couple of months now.
I feel like we just reported acouple of months ago that she
had the baby.

(12:41):
Anyhow, maybe just two monthsago.
She shared that moment duringtaste of country nights when she
was asked if any country momshave helped her through the
journey.
Alina welcomed her first babygirl, named benny, in june.
Well, there it is, folks.
See I wasn't too far off twomonths if you just read.

Jay Franze (13:00):
Hey, if you just read the rest of the headline, I
know If you just read the restof the headline you would have
been all set.

Tiffany Mason (13:04):
I know what are you doing over there.

Jay Franze (13:10):
Nothing, nothing, nothing at all.

Tiffany Mason (13:11):
What are you doing over there?
No, I thought it was fun tobring this story up because we
have talked about other countryartists and their children
touring with them, but also thatcountry artists are people at
the end of the day, and so thiswas another one of those things
like what a better mentor, momto speak than martina mcbride,

(13:33):
who has been there, done thatwhile trying to build a career,
while having a big career, youknow, I think that that's pretty
cool because lauren alaina isright there in the thick of it.

Jay Franze (13:44):
She got her start singing Martina McBride Broken
Wing there Is that the name ofthe song.

Tiffany Mason (13:50):
So she won a karaoke contest singing that
song before American Idol.

Jay Franze (13:56):
Oh, snap so there you go, brings it full circle.
Wow, we like to tie thingstogether.

Tiffany Mason (14:03):
Jay, you're so smart.

Jay Franze (14:05):
Wicked, wicked.

Tiffany Mason (14:06):
Wicked smart.
Okay, what's that?
Yeah, wicked smart.
That's Jay Bird.
Jason Aldean was a surpriseguest at Miranda Lambert's Band
Together Texas benefit concerton Saturday.
Nope, on Sunday, august 17th,tiffany, you're fired.

Jay Franze (14:24):
Goodbye, just saying August 17th Tiffany, you're
fired, goodbye.

Tony Scott (14:29):
Okay, trump says it must be true.

Tiffany Mason (14:35):
In a lively addition to his lively rendition
of his top chart topper wow, okay, wow, wow, don't act like
you're not impressed.
Okay, she's.
She's country.
The country singer invitedlambert on stage to sing a
unique duet version of amarillosky great song.

(14:55):
The song was fitting given theshow's texas theme and, as it
name, dropped a city in the lonestar state.
The moment also stirred up some2018 vibes when the two
released Drowns the Whiskey.

Jay Franze (15:10):
He's another one I like a lot.

Tiffany Mason (15:12):
He's got that rockish feel to him, that's the
reason why, Preston and I wentto go see Jason Aldean and the
next weekend the world shut downfor COVID.

Jay Franze (15:23):
Ooh yeah maybe you should down for COVID.
Ooh yeah, Maybe you should stayhome from that one.
We are moving on to thequestion of the day.
Question of the day is what'sthe best vocal line in a song?

Tony Scott (15:37):
What is?

Jay Franze (15:38):
the best vocal line in a song.
Miss Tiffany, do you have oneyou want to throw in before we
go to the list?

Tiffany Mason (15:49):
I really want to see if anybody I have, like I
mean I have a lot, so let's seeif we can narrow some of mine
down.

Jay Franze (15:56):
All right.

Tiffany Mason (15:57):
Okay, which one of the crew members is thinking
like me?

Jay Franze (16:01):
If anybody would like to throw your last minute
options into the chat, pleasefeel free.
We are going to start with missemily.
Miss emily says garth brooksthe dance.
Okay, let's see what the restof it says dang it.

Tiffany Mason (16:18):
We need these follow-up questions.
We need explanations like whatline was it?

Jay Franze (16:22):
I'm about to read it to you oh, oh goody, you ask
and you shall receive oh my Icould have missed the pain, but
I'd have had to have missed thedance yeah, I think it's
delivery on that one.

Tiffany Mason (16:38):
It's such a good line, but it's also the delivery
so are you saying I did not doit well enough.
The dance.
No, I'm saying how it sang.

Tony Scott (16:46):
Okay.

Tiffany Mason (16:48):
Mm-hmm.

Jay Franze (16:48):
Most important man in country music, mr George
Strait.
Mike says again this song everysingle week Amarillo by Morning
.

Tiffany Mason (16:59):
Amarillo by Morning.

Jay Franze (17:03):
It says Amarillo by Morning, morning up from san
anton up from san anton.

Tiffany Mason (17:11):
Maybe he likes that they don't say san antonio
either way I mean it's kind offun like a little nickname we
can't argue with it.
It's his favorite I'm notarguing, just trying actually.

Jay Franze (17:24):
No, we can't argue because it says the question is
what's the best vocal line song?
We can turn this into acompetition.
I miss kathy oh miss kathy saysgeorge straight.
I cross my heart now to be fair.
Miss Kathy, you're not giving usthe line of the song that you

(17:46):
like, unless you just like thetitle Alright, where'd we leave
off?
Okay?
Laura says Tim McGraw Live likeyou were dying.
This song gets me Every time.
Every time I hear it it justmakes me think of that.
It's like Again Sad.
I don't like the death stuff.
If you haven't noticed, not myfavorite thing.

Tiffany Mason (18:08):
I like when he says that he rode the Fu Manchu.

Jay Franze (18:13):
Yeah, rode for eight seconds.
Yeah, I had to look it up.

Tiffany Mason (18:17):
I was like what's a Fu Manchu Nice?

Jay Franze (18:21):
He says I went skydiving, I went Rocky Mountain
climbing.

Tiffany Mason (18:27):
It is really fun to sing along to that line.

Jay Franze (18:30):
Again, I really do like the song, even you know.
I know we talk about Tim McGrawnot having the best vocal
abilities, but he does convey astory.
And that story is definitelytouching.

Tiffany Mason (18:45):
Oh my goodness, I think it was after last week's
episode or two weeks ago.
Somebody brought up don't takethe girl.
And then I was in the gasstation washing my hands and I
was like no way, it was TimMcGrath, don't take the girl.
And I thought, no way this songis on.

Jay Franze (19:04):
Jacobs is Eric Church Springsteen.
Funny how melody sounds like amemory.
I'm going to feel real badabout mine tonight.
These are all so good and niceand sweet and mine's not going
to be so much, oh my gosh.

Tiffany Mason (19:27):
I can't wait.

Jay Franze (19:31):
Oh, mr Caden is chiming in.
Mr Caden is saying William LeeGolden, oh, you always say
William Lee Golden.
I'm not today what I used to be.

Tiffany Mason (19:41):
Time has made a change in me.
It's a song he picked for beingon my podcast.

Jay Franze (19:46):
Maybe he does like it.
Then he can't make fun of it hedoes like it, Kaden I would
never make fun of you, buddy.
I consider you to be one of mybest friends ever.

Tiffany Mason (19:56):
Oh, I would.
I'll pick on you all day long.
I'll pick on Jay all day long.
Jeff, you want in on this Carla.
I can pick on you All day long,Jeff.
You want in on this Carla.

Jay Franze (20:04):
I'm sorry.
What's that, Kayden?
Oh, okay, I got it, Hold on.

Tiffany Mason (20:08):
Tiffany, you're fired.
Ask my mom how much I pick onher.
It's my favorite pastime.

Jay Franze (20:13):
I always tell people that I'm from Boston.
If I wasn't picking on you,you'd mean I don't like you.

Tiffany Mason (20:19):
Right.

Jay Franze (20:20):
Sarah, Sarah, says Miranda Lambert.
If I could just come in, Iswear I'll leave.

Tiffany Mason (20:29):
She stopped there .
Why would you stop there?
She wanted me to finish it.
Is that what you want.
She couldn't resist.

Jay Franze (20:38):
Mercy me.
Kevin says, brad Paisley andAlison Krauss Whiskey Lullaby.
Life is short, but this time itwas bigger.

Tiffany Mason (20:52):
That's what she said.

Jay Franze (20:56):
You struggled on it, didn't you?
Again, amy, thank you forcoming back a second week, but
Amy says Vince Gill, and I don'tknow if it's Amy or not.

Tiffany Mason (21:08):
Oh right, because she picked Vince Gill last time
.
That's what I'm saying, and Idon't know if it's Amy or not.
Oh right, because she pickedVinSkill last time.
That's what I'm saying.

Jay Franze (21:15):
If this is Amy and she's picking VinSkill two weeks
in a row, this is justshameless self-promotion.
Is all this is?

Tiffany Mason (21:22):
Okay, what did Amy Grant say?

Jay Franze (21:23):
I mean Amy say If you'd like to join jfranzycom,
please feel free.
She says Go rest high on themountain.
That's the song she picked lastweek too, isn't it?
You said it sounded like a hymn.

Tiffany Mason (21:38):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Jay Franze (21:40):
Your work on earth is done.

Tiffany Mason (21:43):
Maybe it's copy-paste, oh, but she added
your work on earth.

Jay Franze (21:46):
Yes, again, like Caden, she likes that song.
Stop making fun of these people.

Tiffany Mason (21:50):
I don't make fun of anybody.

Jay Franze (21:54):
All right, mark says .
Johnny Cash, fall some prisonblues.
I shot a man in Reno just towatch him die.

Tiffany Mason (22:03):
Well, I shot a man in Reno.

Jay Franze (22:05):
That is a line for sure.
I'll give him that.
Yeah, that's Mark D.
Oh, oh thank you for joining usagain.

francis, it's francis, but frank.
You still haven't told me iffrancis or frank d is your dad.

(22:27):
Please chime, chime in, let meknow.

Tiffany Mason (22:30):
We need details.

Jay Franze (22:35):
Rockalooch says Casey Musgraves, follow your
arrow.

Tiffany Mason (22:43):
Kiss lots of boys or kiss lots of girls.

Jay Franze (22:44):
Okay, I'd like to choose the latter, please.
I'll start tonight.
I think my wife is sleeping, Idon't know if she's not babe,
that's just a joke, you know,it's okay.
Chris says randy travis foreverand ever, amen.

(23:06):
The line is as long as old mensit and talk about the weather.
Now I just picture like rockingchairs outside of an old Five
and Dime or outside of an oldlike general store.

Tiffany Mason (23:20):
Old Cracker Barrel.

Jay Franze (23:22):
No, cracker Barrel.
Cracker Barrel is pissing meoff.

Tony Scott (23:25):
First of, all Cracker Barrel has gone oh he's
got a nerve.

Jay Franze (23:29):
That is a big thing here in the South, and Cracker
Barrel has gone.
Oh, we stuck a nerve.
That is a big thing here in theSouth.
And Cracker Barrel has gonedownhill on their service and
their food lately.
And now they're rebranding andthey're just making it look like
any other modern store and frommy understanding I haven't seen
one or seen any drawings oranything, but they're losing the
store.
The store is what made CrackerBarrel Cracker Barrel.

Tiffany Mason (23:51):
What?
Why would you?
What made Cracker BarrelCracker Barrel?

Jay Franze (23:53):
What?
Why would you go to CrackerBarrel?
Next thing you know they're notgoing to have Rockin' Shears or
any of that stuff either.
I'm upset Cracker.

Tony Scott (23:57):

Jay Franze (23:58):

Tiffany Mason (24:03):
I have your back on this, Jay.

Jay Franze (24:05):
Okay, thank you, I appreciate this.

Tiffany Mason (24:07):
We are united front.

Jay Franze (24:10):
Hannah says Hannah again.
Miss Tiffany, I don't know.

Tiffany Mason (24:14):
I think she's in bed.

Jay Franze (24:16):
That's what you'd think.
But meanwhile her phone isstill in her hands.
It says Dolly Parton coat ofmany colors, One is only poor,
only if they choose to be.
That sounds very nice.

Tiffany Mason (24:30):
It does sound very nice.
All about mindset.

Jay Franze (24:34):
It's true, tom Brooks and Dunn Neon Moon.
Now, if you lose your one andonly, there's only room here for
the lonely Good song.
I like it I like that song.
Jessica, I can't do it.
This one's for Tiffany.
I like Chris Stapleton Startingover.

(24:58):
Sorry, I don't know if youreally sound like that, jessica.
It just bothers me that youstart off with this one's for
Tiffany.
I'm here to you this one's forthe girls.
Chris Stapleton starting overthe hard roads are the ones
worth choosing.

Tiffany Mason (25:16):
Amen.

Jay Franze (25:18):
Daniel says Willie Nelson, on the road again, Go in
places that I've never been.
I like that Makes sense.
If you're going to choose aline out of that song.
I think that's the one tochoose, daniel.
Sorry for calling you Daniel.
Daniel, you get a gold star fortonight.
Makes sense.
If you're going to choose aline out of that song, I think
that's the one to chooseDanielle Yep or Daniel.
Sorry for calling you Daniel.

Tony Scott (25:33):
Daniel.

Jay Franze (25:34):
You get a gold star for tonight.
Thank you, samantha.
Says Trisha Yearwood she's inlove with the boy.
Her daddy says he ain't worth alick.
I have a question.
Let's jump ahead to Brian.

(25:55):
He ain't worth a lick.
Let's jump ahead to Brianbecause he's following this up
with Garth.
Brooks Got to go from TriciaYearwood to Garth Brooks.

Tiffany Mason (26:02):
Absolutely.

Jay Franze (26:02):
Garth Brooks.
If tomorrow never comes, willshe know how much I love her
will she know how much I loveher, hmm did.

Tiffany Mason (26:13):
I try and every day just show her every way.
She's my only one.

Jay Franze (26:20):
I'm cherry picking, just so you're aware.
Ethan says Jason.
Aldean basket out, pick thosecherries dirt road anthem hmm,
yeah, I'm chilling on a dirtroad, all right, oh, darius
Rucker's on here.
Josh says Darius Rucker, wagonwheel.
Rock me like a wagon wheel.

(26:41):
I don't think that's a veryimpressive line.
You guys are going to be eithervery disappointed or upset
about my choice.
Sophie, sophie, sophie, sophie.
Has Sophie been here before?
I think?

Tony Scott (26:58):
so I don't think so, but I don't want to think so,
because I remember saying we'venever had a Sophie.

Jay Franze (27:04):
And I said I like the name Sophie Rascal Flats.

Tiffany Mason (27:08):
And why'd you ask me?

Jay Franze (27:09):
I'm just thinking it through out loud.
Sorry, I'm the one.
It through out loud.
Sorry, I'm the one that's notsupposed to have the memory.
Sophie says Rascal Flats blessthe broken road.
Every long lost dream led me towhere you are.

Tiffany Mason (27:25):
Love it.

Jay Franze (27:26):
Do you?
I'm not reading that one, haley, I am sorry, she says the
chicks.

Tiffany Mason (27:35):
I like the chicks .
Which one?

Jay Franze (27:37):
Wide open spaces Haley.

Tony Scott (27:40):
I'm just not a fan of the chicks anymore.

Jay Franze (27:43):
But she says the chicks Wide open spaces.
She needs wide open spaces Roomto make her big mistakes.
Sarah Evans, I like Sarah, herbig mistakes.
Sarah Evans, I like Sarah Evans.
Trevor says Sarah Evans born tofly.
How do you keep your feet onthe ground when you know you
were born to fly?
Now that sounds like somebodywould have it tattooed on their

(28:05):
arm.
If it's worth tattooing on yourarm, then you've chosen a good
lyric.
Maya Project Music.

Tiffany Mason (28:18):
Oh yes.

Jay Franze (28:21):
Says Sting, there's no such thing as a winnable war.
It's the lie we don't believeanymore.

Tiffany Mason (28:32):
I'd have to really ponder that one.

Jay Franze (28:34):
Ooh, jd Reynolds.
I'll say Reynolds because sheis a previous guest of the show
Song.
Whatever, we don't give a shit,no matter how fine you are.
She does not have a singer andI don't recognize the lyric.
Lynn wrote a book, okay, june.

(29:01):
Says Dolly Parton I will alwayslove you.
Really, the whole song, june.
I don't know if that qualifies, but I'm going to give it to you
only because it's dolly, themost important woman in country
music.
Hunter says shine down goingfor the rock band sometimes

(29:21):
goodbye is a second chance oh Ilike the message.
I could see that tattooed onsomebody's arm.
Now the song your choice.

Tiffany Mason (29:35):
Okay, okay, well, okay, I think I'm going to do.
If I'm going to just choose one, I am going to do Taylor Swift,
it is.
You Need to Calm Down.
Well, I can't find the line,but it's.

Jay Franze (29:51):
Tiffany, you're fired there's only so many
variations, that sign must havetaken all night.

Tiffany Mason (30:02):
Then she starts, then she does a really really
fast part.
I don't know, it goes reallyreally fast right there.
And the other one that I'mreally loving right now is 20
Cigarettes by Jason Aldean.
Hold on one second.

Jay Franze (30:16):
I need to public service announcement To all of
the Swifties out there.
I would just like to let youknow that we are actually
Swifties here on the show.
We do promote Miss Taylor Swift.
So, even though Miss Tiffanyright now is coming across as if
she's not quite sure, we doactually promote Taylor Swift.
So even though Miss Tiffanyright now is coming across as if
she's not quite sure, we doactually promote Taylor Swift.

Tiffany Mason (30:34):
Yes, yes, yes, very much so.
Okay, so I really love thatsong.
And then I also really lovethis Morgan Wallen song 20
Cigarettes and it's this wholenight of how they smoked these
cigarettes together.
And the very last line is onehell of a night, one hell of a
pack.

Jay Franze (30:53):
All right, Miss Tiffany, should we go with mine?
Yes, I'm dying, no the questionwas the best lyrics in a song,
right?
So this is either going to goto the top or to the bottom.
There's no middle ground forthis.

Tiffany Mason (31:11):
Okay.

Jay Franze (31:12):
I'm going to quote a previous guest of ours, Mike
Errico.

Tiffany Mason (31:17):
Okay.

Jay Franze (31:18):
And I did tell him on the show that this was one of
my favorite lyrics ever, if notmy favorite lyric ever in a
song.
Okay, the song is calledDaylight.

Tiffany Mason (31:27):
Okay.

Jay Franze (31:29):
Now I've got the whole verse here, but I'm going
to tell you the line.
If you want me to read theverse, I will.
It says your darkest secrets.
Sit here right in front of me.
I know what you smell like andif my life were a movie, you'd
be buried in the credits.

(31:49):
You'd be woman number two withyour head up your ass.

Tiffany Mason (31:55):
Okay, well, I like the aggressiveness, I like
that they stuck it to the otherperson and it's a pretty
complete picture within twolines.
I mean I'll give it to you.

Jay Franze (32:14):
I've always liked it this is the record.
When I met him, this was therecord he was promoting and I
have never gotten over it.
I mean, I love the record, Ilove the song.

Tiffany Mason (32:29):
Some of those lines just stick with you and he
is by far one of the bestperformers.

Jay Franze (32:32):
I've the record, I love the song.
Some of those lines just stickwith you and he is by far one of
the best performers I've everseen.
As far as one man now he has aband, but as far as one man
sitting down with an acousticguitar and playing, he does it.
He plays the harmonica whilehe's playing the guitar.

Tony Scott (32:50):
He's got the foot pedals going.

Jay Franze (32:51):
He has got the foot pedals going, he's got the loop
pedals going and he puts theguitar down on his lap and plays
it like a piano.
I mean very, very creativeplayer but, also a creative
writer, but that is my favorite.
The entire portion of the songis you've got my sweater and a
couple of CDs, but that's allright.
Your darkest secrets lie hereright in front of me.

(33:12):
I know what you smell like, andif my life were a movie, you'd
be buried in the credits.
You'd be woman number two withyour head up your ass.
And it's too late.
Yes, it's too late.
Even anger does not last.

Tiffany Mason (33:27):
Dang.
I thought the saying was lovehath no fury like a woman
scorned, but I think that thisis a man scorned.

Jay Franze (33:36):
We are showing that it goes in both directions, All
right.
Well, I don't know if we canput it at the top of the list or
not, but it is my choice forthe top of the list.

Tiffany Mason (33:50):
Okay we're all entitled.
All right, moving on to thecharts, miss David, Okay, well,
coming in at number 10 as adebut is Jordan Davis with the
song Bar None.

Jay Franze (34:04):
Why is that lyric so clever?

Tiffany Mason (34:07):
I think I've only heard it once and I remember
thinking it was clever, but Ican't remember why.
Okay, fine, I mean it wasclever, but I can't remember why
.
Okay, I mean, it's justdebuting.
We've got, you know, a coupleof weeks a few more weeks, as he
climbs the charts.
We hope.

Jay Franze (34:17):
Okay, sorry, go ahead.

Tiffany Mason (34:18):
Yeah, sometimes they come on the charts and then
they disappear, so hopefullyJordan Davis sticks, but he's a
pretty big name right now.
One of my favorite songs and itwas actually on my list for the
people to to say and it's thesong country house.
Now he did go from one all theway down to number nine, but I
love when he says I can run mybird dogs, cut the grass with my

(34:41):
shirt off and swim in an oldpair of jeans.

Jay Franze (34:45):
just it's cute little it's not gonna end up on
my arm.

Tiffany Mason (34:48):
No, it's not going to end up on your arm, you
know what's going to end up onmy arm?
Tiffany, you're fired.

Jay Franze (34:53):
No, no.
The quote from Rocky.
It's not about how hard you canhit, it's about how hard you
can get hit and keep movingforward.
Now, that's how winning is done.
That's my favorite quote.
That's going to end up on anarm someday, I feel like.

Tiffany Mason (35:16):
is that a lot of words that has to be on your
back, though I wouldn't put themall, I would just put the the
first line.
Okay, okay, okay, get peoplestarted on the line.
It's not about how hard you canhit.

Jay Franze (35:23):
It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving
forward okay, okay.

Tiffany Mason (35:29):
Well, I don't know about that, but number
eight come on, it's a rockyquote it's a great quote.
It's a great quote.
It's just too many words I'msorry.

Jay Franze (35:39):
What number are we on?

Tiffany Mason (35:41):
we're on your favorite.
Oh, numero ocho.
Okay, scotty mccurry Rockets, and we know I'm a fan.
It went from 10 and it climbedto number 8.
Nice.

Jay Franze (35:55):
It's a great song.
I do like it.
I still like listening to it.
I mean, we're still insummertime, still August, still
summertime.

Tiffany Mason (36:03):
Well, number 7 is Russell Dickerson Happened to
Me and it moved from spot number9 up to spot number 7.
And I was kind of glazing overthis one, but this is another
one that does a 90s, uh,referral or reference.
So it's, you know, becoming abig favorite of mine tell us

(36:23):
come on, don't put me in thespot.

Jay Franze (36:25):
I just know it references the 90s okay, fine,
let's see, you don't have to,okay so it says they're talking
back and forth.

Tiffany Mason (36:34):
She said shut up, come dance with me.
And now she's singing girlsjust wanna have fun.
Maybe is that 80s girls justwanna have fun yeah, it's
referencing cindy lauper fromanyways.
So love, that love when they.
You know, you know me, you knowme.
That's why I like that BottleRockets one so much, because it
has the hoodie segment in there.

(36:54):
Jay Franzi's a big fan ofBailey Zimmerman with Backup
Plan.

Jay Franze (37:01):
Yes, it's one of my.
It's probably my favorite songout right now.
I like the message.
It's another one of those Rockyquotes.
I like the inspirational quotes.
See, I think you're starting tosee a pattern here.

Tiffany Mason (37:17):
Keep me away from the sad stuff and move me into
the inspirational stuff you like, like ball buster toughness,
yes, yes.
Like nobody cries, you don'tcry about it.

Jay Franze (37:25):
I don't want to cry, just put some dirt on it and
move on.

Tiffany Mason (37:27):
Yes, nope.

Jay Franze (37:29):
My kids make me cry.
I've never cried in my life andI go to watch my kids dance and
I cry.

Tiffany Mason (37:38):
Oh, I lost my man card years ago.
We're going to go to numberfive.
It's Luke Bryan with CountrySong Came On.
He went from number seven tonumber five.
Okay, number four.
This is another Jay favorite, nate Smith with Fix what you
Didn't Break.
It went from five to spotnumber four.

Jay Franze (37:57):
Nice, miss Kathy, you still here with us.

Tiffany Mason (38:00):
Yes, great song she got very sleepy last
Wednesday, and she went to bed alittle early, so she might have
left us already.

Jay Franze (38:07):
Miss Kathy, that disappoints me already, kathy,
that disappoints me.

Tiffany Mason (38:12):
Well, maybe this will cheer you up, shaboozy,
with good news.

Jay Franze (38:16):
Good news.

Tiffany Mason (38:17):
Went from six to spot number three.

Jay Franze (38:19):
You know what that is?

Tiffany Mason (38:21):
That's good news.

Jay Franze (38:25):
Good news, do I have one of those?

Tiffany Mason (38:27):
Wait, wait yes.

Jay Franze (38:31):
Oh huh, I'm fired, but don't do.

Tiffany Mason (38:31):
I have one of those wait, wait, yes, on fire.
I don't know where it is.

Jay Franze (38:35):
I had to look, but you know well, thomas rutt has
spot number two.

Tiffany Mason (38:42):
He has climbed from spot number four and it's
after all, the bars are closed.
After all, the bars are.
I think I did the last notewrong.
Anyways, spot number one a songthat I still don't know if I've
ever heard, or I heard it and Idon't care.
I'm not really sure this songis really like somewhere out

(39:04):
here for me, but it went fromspot number three to spot number
one, so Mr Tyler Hubbard iswhooping it up this week.

Jay Franze (39:14):
Wait, wait, that was number one.
Yeah, there was no drum roll, there was no applause.

Tiffany Mason (39:22):
It's the song I keep blowing past.
It's just.

Jay Franze (39:27):
So just because you're not the biggest fan he
gets no drum roll.
Yes.

Tiffany Mason (39:38):
This is his debut in the number one slot we need
to give it to him I can redo it.

Tony Scott (39:43):
You're taking the air out of him.

Tiffany Mason (39:47):
You are not the wind beneath his wings.

Jay Franze (39:50):
I'm not bothered by it All right.

Tiffany Mason (39:54):
Hey, I'm ruthless like that you you really are.
We can do it again.
No, it's not, and tonight I'min the number one spot oh wait,
nope, nope, I'm not gonna giveit to you psych oh tyler, just a
little bit, just a little bit.

Jay Franze (40:11):
A little bit for you , that's awesome sorry, that's
all you get all right, misstiffany, what do you got going
on this week?

Tiffany Mason (40:26):
um well, I don't really have anything super
amazing going on.
I did have another amazingepisode, though, from the link
up lounge talking aboutcollaborating it's okay, don't
say it resist and actually onsaturday night I told my husband

(40:49):
hannah just happened to be outof the house and I was like
let's go do something, likelet's go do something fun, and
so we actually went to a poollounge.
Jerk, you couldn't help it.
No, we went to a pool hall andwe had a little bit of pizza.
And then we went to a pool halland the pizza was fantastic.
It was New York style pizza.

(41:09):
Oh, I love New York style pizza.
And then we went and played alittle pool and then on Sunday
we went to a sound bath.
Have you ever gone to a sound?

Jay Franze (41:17):
bath before Whoa you went to play pool.
Yeah, Did he come up behind youand show you how to shoot?

Tiffany Mason (41:24):
I mean he might have poked me with a stick.
I'm married, it's allowed.
Okay, so we play sports.

Jay Franze (41:33):
I don't know if I want you calling me daddy
tonight.

Tiffany Mason (41:36):
No, we play these games and I am not very
athletically inclined.
I can participate, I'll be agood sport.
You can totally cream me at thegame and I will take it Okay.
But but this time I kind ofheld my own.

(41:58):
We we played pool.
I actually did some liketechnique shots and made them in
and I did lose four out of fivegames, but they were close.
It wasn't like all my ballswere on the table.
I got some of them and we had alot of fun.

(42:19):
And then I went to my friendand she does sound baths.
I do love a sound bath.
I know I've heard of all thehealth benefits before, but I
don't have them memorized, but Ido.
And she does sound baths.
I do love a sound bath.
I know I've heard of all thehealth benefits before, but I
don't have them memorized.
But I do love me a sound bath.
So that's what I did.
And then I'm gonna go catch thesunrise on friday morning and
I'm gonna watch hannah cheer ather first high school football

(42:40):
game on thursday night nice.

Jay Franze (42:43):
Now that's something to be excited about.

Tiffany Mason (42:45):
I'm very excited about it.
Plus, I got like gear and onFriday it's going to be the
whiteout game, so we all haveour whiteout clothes.
I got my shoes in the colors,so I'm going to look pretty good
at the football game Cheeringon the football team.

Jay Franze (43:05):
You're going to look like one of the kids.

Tiffany Mason (43:08):
Yes, I'm fine with it.

Jay Franze (43:09):
Who's this mom trying to look like us?
Yes, all right.
Well, I got to go to Hailstormthis week.

Tiffany Mason (43:17):
I know I'm so jealous.

Jay Franze (43:20):
And I actually took Bella with me this time.
Fun, fun.
I was going to invite Bella, bella, and I did invite Bella.
I said, bella, if you wouldlike to go, because this is a
Lucy thing, I was going to takeLucy.
And I said, bella, if you'dlike to go, I know you like rock
music and I know you would liketo go, by all means, the three
of us can go.
She's like, no, you just gowith Lucy, you two go have a

(43:41):
daddy-daughter date.
So I have a daddy daughter date.
So I was like I, I appreciatethat, but come on, let's just
all go.
And then she said no.
So I'm like, okay, I'm justgonna go with lucy then.
But then my kids went to danceclass and came home from dance
class and now my wife is sayingyou're gonna go with bella and
lucy's gonna stay home.

(44:02):
And I, whoa what happened?
The whole point was to takeLucy someplace, but apparently
Lucy she's not the biggest fanof rock music, where Bella's
actually a fan.

Tiffany Mason (44:14):
Uh-huh.

Jay Franze (44:15):
Which is okay, because she's thinking of her
big sister and I thought thatwas very nice.
So I went with Bella and we gotto go sit in front of the house
and we got to go, you know, check out the show and do all
those fun things and take someselfies and all of that fun
stuff.

Tiffany Mason (44:33):
It was good, very cool.

Jay Franze (44:34):
Now you want to know what frustrated me about that
night.

Tiffany Mason (44:37):
Jay, wait a minute.
I have a question.
What frustrated you about thatnight?

Jay Franze (44:41):
Oh, good question.
Thank you for asking, yeah.

Tiffany Mason (44:44):
Oh, good question .
Thank you for asking.

Jay Franze (44:44):
Yeah, my daughter, as a lot of you may already know
, has a condition called F and Dand she sometimes has temporary
paralysis or, you know, passesout or has these things.
Now that luckily did not happenthat night.
It was a good night.
But her foot it locked up.
She couldn't move her foot.

(45:06):
It locked up at an angle sowhen she walked she would be
walking on the outside edge ofher foot.
It locked up, she couldn't moveher foot.
It locked up at an angle, sowhen she walked she would be
walking on the outside edge ofher foot.
Could not be comfortable, I'msure.

Tony Scott (45:14):
No.
So I said well why don't we?

Jay Franze (45:15):
we didn't bring her wheelchair.
So I said why don't we just goget the wheelchair from the
venue and we'll use thewheelchair?
She didn't want to do it, butwe were at the merch table and
down down the aisle was thefirst aid section and she needed
air plugs.
So I said, well, I'm going togo down here for a minute.
So I went down there to lookfor air plugs.
I asked first aid, logicalplace to go First aid.

(45:36):
Hey, two questions for you realquick.
Would you happen to have someair plugs and what would we have
to do to check out one of thesewheelchairs Line of them?
What would we have to do tocheck out one of the wheelchairs
.
They said well, the earplugs, which they had a bucket of in
front of them.
You would have to go tocustomer service.
I said okay, what about thewheelchair?

(46:02):
They asked me what the need wasall that fun stuff.
I said well, and my daughterexplained the situation.
They said me what the need wasall that fun stuff.
I said well, and my daughter, you know, explained the
situation.
They said you'd have to go tocustomer service, I said what
are all these wheelchairs for?
Those are in case of emergency.
I'm thinking to myself how manyemergencies do you expect to
happen?
Okay, now customer service.

(46:25):
All the way back across thevenue to where we walked, in, of
course, of course.
So we walked back to thecustomer service.
No joke, asked the lady wewould like to talk to you about
checking out a wheelchair.
No, don't say it, you'll haveto go to first aid.

Tiffany Mason (46:41):
No, I was like you got to be kidding me.

Jay Franze (46:44):
I was saying, well, that's funny, because they told
us to come here.
And she's like, well, we can'tdo that.
She's, I can give you a rideand I can put you in and we can
push you to your seats, but thenwe're gonna leave you there and
go back.
I'm like, well, that doesn'treally make sense.
I said can I push her?
And they said no I'm like okayI've had it.
My daughter's's like justforget it, she goes, I can walk,

(47:06):
I'm fine.

Tiffany Mason (47:07):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (47:08):
Okay.
And then I said, okay, well, could you possibly give us a
pair of air plugs?
And she was, yes, $250.
I'm like okay, handed my card, she goes we only take cash.
Okay, was there any place inthe building?

Tiffany Mason (47:24):
I had a gun range and they were like, just take
them you know they're justlittle phone things.

Jay Franze (47:29):
I mean there's nothing to them exactly.
So I'm like is there any placearound that I can use the card
to pay for?
She was no, but there's an atmyeah, go get an atm.

Tiffany Mason (47:40):
That's gonna charge you five dollars they
charged me 450.
Yeah, but the atm back at theother end so you're saying that
you got a lot of exercise inthen?

Jay Franze (47:51):
I told my daughter.
I said just wait here I wentback down, got the money, came
back, paid for the air plugs andthen we walked back and we she
wanted to go to the merch boothand check out the merch, so
bought her a t-shirt.
She's very happy.
If you would like to see any ofthe pictures of her suffering I
mean, if you would like to seeany of the pictures from that

(48:13):
night they are up on theInstagram page.

Tiffany Mason (48:16):
Well, I'm glad you brought up the merch table.

Jay Franze (48:18):
Yes, tell me.

Tiffany Mason (48:19):
I cannot believe I left this out of the story
when we went to go see MeganMaroney.
I cannot believe I left thisout of the story.
I can believe it, thanks.
So we see the girls lining upfor the megan maroney concert,
okay, and there is, I mean whiteboots and blue ribbons as far
as the eye can see, and we areall like we're not getting in

(48:41):
that line, like those girls canget in the line and whatever
right, just to get into theconcert.
Okay, so we get into theconcert.
We got in the merch line.
We waited in the merch line fortwo hours, two hours nothing.
Nothing made a request, we'dmake that happen well, when

(49:05):
hannah made her request for herbirthday, it was morgan wallen
or megan maroney, and meganmaroney was really the front
runner and then, through acourse of whatever, it turned
into morgan wallen and then whenI saw megan maroney was going
to be at the state fair, I waslike, oh well, we could still go
see her.
So I knew it was one of hannah'stop picks.
And I'm telling you, every girllike we kept going down the

(49:28):
venue and we're like is this theend of the line?
Is this the end of the line?
Then come to find out thatreally crazy long line actually
went all the way to the frontsplit and then went to these
other, these two booths orwhatever, two booths, boots or
whatever Two boots.
Like I feel like the artistshould be able to communicate to
the venue.

(49:48):
Like hey, we need four or fivemerch tables, platforms,
whatever I mean.
I can't even tell you theamount of merchandise they must
have gone through.
I bought five things myselfbecause I bought for my mom and
my sister and my niece and herfriend.

Jay Franze (50:04):
That's like $500.

Tiffany Mason (50:07):
It was absolutely crazy.
No, it was crazy.

Jay Franze (50:11):
Not waiting in line that long, not spending $500.

Tiffany Mason (50:14):
Sorry, oh my gosh , it was so crazy.

Jay Franze (50:17):
I bought my daughter the shirt.
It was $45.

Tiffany Mason (50:19):
Yeah.

Jay Franze (50:20):
For a concert shirt.
I get it these days.
That's the price.
Yeah, you know, I lived back inthe 80s.
But the $45,.
I understand that's the priceof a shirt these days, but the
hoodie hoodie was $80.

Tiffany Mason (50:32):
Oh no, the Mega Moroni hoodie was $95.

Jay Franze (50:35):
Yeah, and the other band that was there, volbeat.
They had a shirt that I liked.
I saw some guy in there and thecrowd walked by.
I told my dad.
I said, said, oh, I actuallylike that shirt.
It was a button down type thatI would typically wear oh yeah
but it was like sharp lookingand I said, well, let's walk by
the booth see if they have it.
I'm thinking myself, if theyhave this shirt it's gonna be at

(50:57):
least 100 bucks.

Tony Scott (50:59):
But they didn't have it, so my and then my daughter
turns to me and she goes but dad, wouldn't you like something?

Jay Franze (51:06):
She goes why don't you pick a shirt and I'll buy it
for you.
I was like oh now, that's nice.

Tiffany Mason (51:12):
That's nice.

Jay Franze (51:15):
Whose card.

Tiffany Mason (51:16):
are you going to use Yours she?

Jay Franze (51:18):
actually has her own .
Now, I'm just throwing that outthere, she has.
I mean, she actually does, shehas her own bank card.

Tiffany Mason (51:26):
I'm proud of my little girl.
