Two years ago today, Akal Vol. 2 (Akal to Joy) was released. The roots of this music run deep.
At a spring retreat in Tampa, my friend Sarah invited me to help lead a Grief Ritual. She had taught me the Kundalini practice of Akal. A chant for souls in transition, for those who’ve passed, and those who are coming.
That night, after the ritual, the Akal began soft and mournful. Then the room shifted voices joined, tears flowed, and joy entered the space. People danced. Sang. Held each other. It was sacred.
This EP isn’t a recording of that moment, but it’s my offering to honor it.
To carry grief through to joy.
To hold space.
To remember.
