Richard Norman Rojem Jr was executed on July 27th 2024 for the brutal kidnapping rape and murder of his 7 year old ex-step daughter Layla Cummings in 1984. Richard’s life started with great struggle and adversity. In 1978 Richard raped 2 teenage girls in Michigan and sent to prison. There he grew an interest in his cellmate’s sister, Mindy Cummings, Layla’s mother. After troubles arose in the home, Richard retaliated and brutalized young Layla. After a long 40 years of appeals and 3 separate death sentences, Richard met his fate after enjoying his last meal consisting of 2 small double cheese, double pepperoni pizzas from Little Caesars and 2 cups of vanilla ice cream. The case has made a lasting impact on the family and highlights the importance of stranger danger.
