In this recap episode, we explore the powerful responses from guests reflecting on their pivotal life shift moments and what they would tell their past selves. Throughout the discussions, themes of patience, self-belief, and shedding shame resonate deeply, highlighting the emotional journeys we all face. My guests, including Jasmin Faulk-Dickerson and Lewis Crompton, share their insights on being true to oneself and maintaining faith during challenging times. Their heartfelt messages serve as a reminder that, despite the struggles, we will ultimately be okay, and we’re encouraged to trust the journey ahead. Join me as we reflect on these inspirational words and embrace the hope they bring.

(00:02):
This is the Life Shiftpodcast, and these are the bonus
episodes for our specialPatreon page. What I love about the
Life Shift podcast is, sure, some of these events are really hard

(00:23):
to hear and experience, but Ido find that every episode ends in
some kind of inspirational wayof hope and what we've learned as
humans through the experiencesthat we go through. What I like to
do at the end of the story iskind of ask my guests if they could
go back to that person rightbefore their Life Shift moment, what
would they say? And for somepeople, I ask for advice for people

(00:44):
going through somethingsimilar. And sometimes I ask just
a random question that's in asimilar vein. And so this is one
way that I get to hear whatsomeone would say to that person
with the intention of anyonelistening who might be going through
something similar or similarexperience, they have the opportunity
to hear some inspirationalwords or something that resonates
with them so that they feel alittle less alone in their experiences.

(01:07):
I just want to thank those ofyou who have been listening, so I
hope you leave this episodefeeling inspired. So thank you, and
I hope you enjoy listening tothis recap episode. Of the responses
to if you could go back tothat person right before your Life
Shift moment, what would you say?
Well, I would say definitelybelieve in yourself and be patient,
because patience is not mystrength. So I would say definitely

(01:29):
be patient and believe inyourself. And I would say shed the
shame, because I think shamereally debilitates us. It's usually
this shame is. We don't evenrecognize it as shame. We see it
as guilt. I think guilt andshame are. They're married to each
other. They can't existwithout, you know, the one, without
the other. I think on thesurface we think it's guilt because

(01:50):
we feel like, you know, I feelguilty if I do this, but deep inside
what it. What it. Where itcomes from is this voice that really
has built this shame inside. So I would really encourage her to
just say, you know what? Idon't care. It took me a long time
to get to the point where Inow say, I don't care. And I say
it not as elegantly as I don'tcare. I say it a lot more aggressively

(02:10):
than that.
I always like to go with justthe first thing that comes to my
head for these types of thingsrather than overthink it. But I think
the only thing, I would eithersay nothing because I don't want
to change my history, or Iwould just say, keep going. That's
probably, yeah, Those probablythe only two options I'd go with.
Put your hands around a cameraand learn how to build and produce
a lot of content. I'm notkidding, man. That is the world we

(02:34):
live in. If I knew today wouldbe what it is with content, I would
have been a master at it.Like, I would have focused more in
English class and havestronger vocabulary. I would have
been able to type like a niceperson who knows how to type instead
of doing this thing. So itjust would have made a huge difference
to where I'm at today. If Iknew that, I would tell.

(02:56):
Her to be true to herself. Putfaith over fear. It will be okay.
Don't be scared. Make sure youkeep your faith intact and just be
true to who you are and thenit's okay. I think a lot of times
when we're going throughthings, you don't feel like you're
going to be okay. You're like. It's so painful. It's. You may not

(03:17):
feel it in this moment, butyou're going to be okay like this.
The sun is going to come uptomorrow, right? So when you say
go back, I just felt. When Ilooked at that phone, it just took
me back to truly. Like, Icould remember what that feeling
lost and just feeling like, what am I going to do? I just remember

(03:38):
just feeling. Feeling all overthe place. But you're going to be
all right. Do not be scared.Keep my faith first. And just know
that you know God got you.
I tell her and that shewouldn't believe me, is that it'll

(03:59):
all work out and you will liveyour dreams. You really will. And
your dreams may not be whatyou even think they are right now,
but just trust the process.Trust the journey. I firmly believe
that.
