Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome leaders,
welcome to the show.
I am super excited for thisepisode as we are finishing off
2024 and moving into 2025.
I have some exciting news aboutthe podcast.
We did a slight brand refresh,so not a complete overhaul, but
(00:26):
a little bit of a refresh.
When I started the podcastabout a year ago a little over a
year ago I was testing thingsout, feeling things out, really
getting a feel for what I enjoytalking about, what others enjoy
hearing about, and we'veshifted the name of the
(00:52):
confident, connected leader tothe magnetic leader.
The reason being is, when youreally look at what does it mean
to be confident?
Connected to your purpose, connected to your values,
confident in what you're doing, confident in who you are and how
(01:15):
you're showing up in the worldit really embodies magnetism.
When you are confident andconnected, you are magnetic.
So we've shifted the name tothe magnetic leader and it
corresponds to us also shiftingthe power play program to the
(01:39):
magnetic leadership accelerator.
We're super excited about that.
We had a wonderful artistcreate us a new intro for the
podcast.
The artist who did our lastintro was unavailable and we
found a new one.
He's brilliant.
(02:00):
We're excited about how this ismoving forward and how it's
going to affect the content issimply we're gonna be focusing
in on how do you truly becomemagnetic and really, when we
break down magnetic it simplymeans how can you truly be
yourself, how can you truly showup in the world without the
(02:21):
fear, without the fear programs, without the self-identity
programs that have you acting, behaving and thinking in a way
that's not truly the core of whoyou are.
Our purpose has many piecesthat it many pieces involve, are
(02:44):
involved in us truly living ourpurpose right.
Our purpose means a milliondifferent things, not just what
we're doing for work, which howit's often the term is often
used, but a big core of that issimply learning who we are at
that deeper level and practicingexpressing that into the world.
(03:07):
One of the things that I'veseen, with over 11 years of
working with coaching clientsand, previous to that, 16 years
of working in the school boardone of the biggest of people not
truly being themselves in theirlife, in their work, is simply
(03:32):
because of fear programs and afear around being separated from
the pack, which is normal, which is fine.
There's nothing wrong with that.
That is part of our survivalprogramming, right.
But what happens is we startholding back who we are, how we
(03:55):
want to express ourselves, howwe want to show up, what we want
to say online, what we want tocreate, even how we're dressing,
how we're looking.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s.
One of the things I rememberwas everyone's style was very
(04:18):
unique and I say that with alittle bit of a pause because
I'm thinking back and we didhave groups right, so you kind
of fit into whatever group youwere in and a lot of the groups
were tied to music genres.
So if you were a rocker, youwould dress a certain way, or if
you were into grunge, you wouldlook a certain way, or
(04:42):
electronic EDM, and people kindof stuck to the hose categories
and I'm not saying that that'ssomehow a better way of doing it
, but you would have.
There was a lot of differentvariety.
And now what I see online is alot of people looking the same
and a lot of women looking thesame, because I'm more so
(05:07):
looking at women, because I am awoman.
But a lot of us are looking thesame, like we have the same
styles.
And I'm including myself inthis as well, because when I
look at my style years ago, itwas very much unique.
I really like to stand out inthat way, but now when I'm
looking at, I'm like, well, kindof looking the same, we're all
(05:27):
doing the same makeup, we're allkind of doing the same thing.
Sometimes we veer off and do alittle bit of our own, but
there's nothing really that'sstanding out to the point of and
obviously I'm generalizing, there are people that still
stand out with their fashionhair and makeup, but I think a
big part of this is because ofsocial media and because of this
(05:50):
inner, deep need to fit in andbe accepted.
We've all kind of disconnectedfrom the true expression of who
we are, from the true expressionof who we are.
(06:10):
Part of the path forward as wemove into next year and many
years forward is starting toreally assess okay, who am I?
What do I want to?
How do I want to show up, howdo I want to express myself?
Because there is so much beautyand so much that we're missing
(06:37):
out on when we don't feel safebringing our full self to the
table and others don't feel safebringing their full self to the
table and others don't feelsafe bringing their full self to
the table.
So what happens is we all getthis watered down version and
(06:58):
not to mention cancel culture, which is so toxic, and this
whole misinformation spiel since2020, where everyone feels like
they can't really be themselvesand share their thoughts and
(07:19):
their views without beingcanceled.
I haven't seen a lot of thatgoing on as much as it was a few
years ago, but it wasabsolutely ridiculous the type
of canceling and mob typeculture that was happening and I
think what's happened with alot of the highly sensitive,
(07:43):
empathic leaders people that Iwork with, at least, are
typically highly sensitive, powerful leaders because that's
part of the work that they do inthis world Conscious and
concerned about really bringingtheir full self to the table,
because of about really bringingtheir full self to the table
(08:10):
because of the fear of what canhappen when you share from that
place of opinion that may not gowith the status quo or standing
out with what you look like orwhatever the case may be.
So, as we move into this newyear, I want you to start to
(08:30):
think for yourself what are mycore values?
What is really true for me?
Not what other people aretelling me I should value or
what other people are telling meis important, like, lord knows.
(08:51):
We've had so much of that aswell in the past few years.
People basically telling youyou're either a good person if
you follow this or you speakabout this, or you're a bad
person if you don't speak aboutthis or you don't follow this
narrative.
And again, this rhetoric isjust a form of manipulation and
(09:17):
the mob mentality.
We want to separate from thatand really get clear.
Who am I?
What do I value?
What is important for me?
You came in here with values anddesires that are very specific
to you.
For a reason.
They are very specific to youbecause you're meant to live
(09:39):
them in this life and you livingthese values is going to be
affecting other people that youare meant to affect and impact,
with you truly living up to yourcore values.
That's why we have soulcontracts with others.
(10:01):
We have come in to learncertain lessons.
So when we are not aligned withour values, when we are
following a program, when we aredoing what we think we should
be doing, a lot of times this iswhere it leads to feeling like
either I'm not happy, I'm notenjoying this work, I'm doing to
(10:25):
slightly bored, uninspired, toabsolutely soul-crushing
experience if certain valuesthat are really important to us,
that we're meant to live inthis life, aren't being met.
It's a process of understandingwhat are your true values and
(10:46):
what are values that you believeare your core values but are
really there from a sense ofwounding.
This is what we are focusing onin the Magnetic Leadership
Accelerator beta program as thefirst part of our module, the
align module, because without it, everything else you're doing
(11:11):
moving forward if we don't havethis alignment.
This is why many people startself-sabotaging their movement
forward.
They're not in alignment.
They don't even care about whatthey are moving towards.
They're either doing it from asense of safety, because they
believe it's going to allow themto make a certain amount of
(11:33):
money, and if they're doing itfrom that sense of I need to be
safe and secure, that's a fearprogram that is rooted in lack,
limitation and separation therethat I can't follow my core
(11:56):
values and follow what I enjoydoing, because I don't believe
it's going to make me the moneyI need to survive.
So instead, I'm going to dothis, I'm going to follow this
path, and what happens we see itall the time is these people
get to a point and they're likeI can't do this anymore.
This is soul sucking.
I see it all the time withentrepreneurs in the online, in
the coaching space, in theonline entrepreneur space.
(12:17):
I see it all the time.
People do something becausethey think it's what's going to
make them the money they need, and then they get to a place
where they're just like it's noteven worth it to me anymore.
What if they followed thatinitial path that was in
alignment and followed thoseinspirations and divine
(12:37):
downloads?
That will come throughnaturally when you are doing
work that you are enjoying?
Now, obviously, if you are in aplace where you're like that's
all sounds great, lisa, but howthe hell am I going to pay my
rent this month?
I'm not saying go willy nillyand jump into something that you
(13:01):
don't believe is going tosupport you and just hope for
the best.
Just hope for the best.
If you don't believe it will, then don't move in that
direction.
Until you have built the belief, you fully embody it.
It's not just a hope or a wishor a sorry fingers crossed.
(13:27):
It's a belief first, and thenyou will see it right.
So let's switch it from I needto see it first to believe it to
I'm going to believe it firstand then I'm going to see it.
(13:48):
So part of the work is firstgetting clear on your core
values.
Look at your past.
What in your childhood led toyou feeling alive?
What were you doing?
A lot of the answers to thesequestions can be found in
childhood.
Not everybody remembers theirchildhood and that's okay.
(14:09):
It doesn't mean you can'tunderstand your core values.
Look at what your core valuesare now.
A way to get clarity is whatreally rubs you the wrong way,
as opposed to thinking of whatyou truly like, opposed to
(14:33):
thinking of what you truly like, because sometimes those are
rooted in wounds and fearprograms.
What really grates your gears?
One of my core values isintegrity.
I operate from a place ofintegrity and I really can't
operate from a place of.
Can't operate from a place oflike.
I'm not.
If someone offered me a greatopportunity but it went against
(15:01):
what I believe know to be true,I just can't do it.
I remember when I was doinghealth coaching there was a
woman who was selling these donefor you programs.
But what she was sharing in theprogram certain foods she was
sharing and certain things shewas sharing, I knew creates
(15:23):
inflammation in the body.
I couldn't sell this program, even though it would have been
so much easier for me to do thatthan create my own right, I had
to go my own path because itjust graded my gears.
I really, you know she was ahealth practitioner as well and
(15:43):
it just really bothered me thatshe was selling these things
that created inflammation in thebody.
So when we can kind of look atwhat really goes against right,
what like you just can't like, let's say, you know there's
people I have a friend who shedoes not mind sitting at a desk,
(16:07):
working at a desk in thatcorporate environment, right, or
working in a cubicle.
She's absolutely fine with that.
Cool, right, she does it, shegoes home, she lives her life.
I could, there's no way I would, I could ever do that.
If you're listening to this, chances are you could never sit
in a cubicle eight hours a dayand work on something that's not
(16:29):
important to you just for thesake of doing it right.
That is a sign that's leadingyou towards what your values are
, right.
I want you to see everything asjust kind of neutral, right,
there's no good or bad in thisworld, so to speak.
Right, obviously, that'sarguable, but for this practice,
(16:51):
if you could see, everything issimply just neutral, right.
That takes away a lot of theshoulds, like I should be doing
this, or I should be doing that,or I should value this, or I
should value that.
That's what gets people stuck.
That's what gets people twistedup and living a life that they
(17:12):
think they should be doing, asopposed to what's actually
aligned, to what's gonna makethem feel satisfied and
fulfilled.
And again, not here to follow afear program.
You are here to break free ofthat, truly learn who you are at
your core and express that intothe world.
(17:36):
Right, the world is a verybeautiful I'm looking for the
right word here.
It's like everything is very.
We have things for a specificreason, right, even though we
can't see, potentially, whereit's going to lead.
(17:58):
So if you keep coming back tothe fact that you love creating
and you love making things forthe sake of making things and
creating things, but you have inyour mind that you can't make
money doing that, or you'refoolish for doing that, or
(18:19):
you're somehow less than ifyou're doing something like that
, understand that there's areason why you have that desire
and it's connected to somethingelse, but if you keep denying it
and focusing in on somethingelse, you're going to keep kind
(18:42):
of bumping up against this wall.
So I've had multiple clients inhigh positions in the corporate
world that have come to me andexpress that there's this other
side of them, this creative side, the side that they want to
(19:05):
explore more.
But they've convincedthemselves that it's a waste of
time at that point of their life, it's not going to lead to
anything substantial.
They're so tied to their titleright, it's giving them a sense
of purpose or title.
(19:26):
It's really simply just feedinga wound of unworthiness that
their title is giving them andthey don't believe that they can
sustain the lifestyle that theyhave if they moved into this
direction of, let's say, creativity, whatever that
department is.
And it's such a horrible, andit's such a horrible, horrible
(20:17):
lie in this world.
I know a woman in Los Angelesthat left her career and went
full on in her art and spiritualbusiness that is wildly
successful.
You can take anything and createa business and life around it.
(20:37):
Now, of course, there is thingsto take into account, such as
the market, what actually worksin the market.
But that's a small part of theequation, because if you do some
pondering and get a littlecreative and learn the skills of
(21:00):
marketing and sales, you cantruly take anything and make a
living from it.
Right, you can truly makeanything.
People the exchange of moneyhappens from an emotional
(21:21):
standpoint.
People purchase services andproducts because they believe
it's going to increase theirstatus in some way, whatever
that status I don't mean statusas like a status figure, but
they purchase things that theybelieve are going to basically
(21:44):
keep their self-identity intactor increase their self-identity.
I'll give you a little sidenote of what that means so you
can understand, because it's notjust the fact of like
continuing to improve the statusalthough a lot of entrepreneurs
(22:06):
and business leaders that'stheir goal but let's say that
it's someone like my friendthat's very happy working in
corporate in a normal kind ofrole that she's not really that
excited about because she goeshome and lives her life.
Let's say that she was going tobuy a new car and let's say that
(22:29):
money wasn't an issue.
However, she's living on astreet where everyone has let's
say where everyone has let's sayHondas and let's just say
Hondas.
Everyone has a Honda and shewants to maintain that status
(22:57):
within the neighborhood.
So what I mean by maintain thestatus is she wants to keep
everything status quo.
She's not likely going to gobuy a Lamborghini because that
Lamborghini in her driveway isgoing to stand out like a sore
thumb amongst all these Hondas.
And she may have the beliefsystem that if I stand out like
(23:20):
that, people aren't going tolike me because they're going to
think X, y, z.
Again, none of this is based intruth.
These are belief systems.
So it's likely that she willbuy a, whatever it is, honda,
something similar to kind of tofit in that group, to maintain
(23:43):
her status within the group.
Now, on the flip side, let's saywe have a person who is
expanding his career.
He's working, let's say he's ata law firm and he drives a
Honda.
When he gets to the law firm asa new attorney, he sees that
(24:05):
everyone has BMWs.
Well, he may have a beliefsystem that he wants to fit in
with everyone else.
He needs to get a BMW.
Right?
This is an emotional responseto fit in.
Again, this is not logic, right?
People purchase from emotion.
(24:27):
Typically.
Sometimes the logic will followit and it will kind of seal the
deal for a person to make thatpurchase.
But it's all based its core isbased in emotion, because they
believe it's going to improvetheir life in some way.
So, for his status, he's goingto work to buy a BMW.
(24:48):
He's likely going to purchasethat Now, again, I'm
generalizing.
Not everyone is like this, butfor the most part, just to make
the point of you can reallytruly sell anything, make a
living doing anything, when whatyou are offering gives that
(25:08):
person a sense of oh, this iseither increasing my status or
it's keeping me in the statusquo, which is where I want to be
status, or it's keeping me inthe status quo, which is where I
want to be right, keeping upwith the Joneses, let's say so.
I'm going to wrap this up forthis episode.
(25:28):
We're going to continue talkingabout this as we move into 2025
.
I'm really going to be focusingin on my framework that I've
developed over 11 years and thatI'm testing now in the Magnetic
Leadership Accelerator which,by the way, if you're interested
to learn more, is stillcurrently at the beta rate and
(25:52):
what I've included for thepeople joining right now in the
beta part of the program isthree one-on-one private calls
which, if you were to purchasethem separately, would pretty
much add up to the entire costof the program.
So you're basically getting theprogram, a 12-week program and
(26:14):
lifetime access to thecurriculum for an insane rate.
If you're interested inlearning more, please send me an
email at info at lisajeffscom,or you can also book right now.
If you're listening to this, asit's posted a few weeks after
(26:34):
it's posted, this is anotherupdate.
I'm no longer offering thebreakthrough calls, as I was
last or this year and what I'vebeen doing for basically 11
years.
I am shifting it to what'scalled a test drive consult.
So it's going to be a littlebit more in depth, it's going to
(26:57):
give you a little bit more towork with and it's also a way
for us to see if coaching eitherprivate coaching or the
magnetic leadership acceleratoris the right fit for you.
But there will be anon-refundable deposit for that.
So if you want to get in on thecomplimentary call where there
(27:22):
is no non-refundable deposit, there is no cost.
Please do that within the nextweek or two, as that will no
longer be an option movingforward as it is right now.
There may be other times where Ioffer it.
There may be other times whereI offer it, but the full session
(27:46):
, which is pretty much like ayou're going to leave with a lot
more clarity.
You're going to leave with alot like a breakthrough.
That's my goal.
It's not just a simple salescall to see if you're a good fit
.
You are leaving with abreakthrough, good fit, like you
were leaving with abreakthrough.
That's what I enjoy doing andit doesn't take away from me
enrolling people into theprogram, so why wouldn't I give
(28:08):
that?
But take advantage of it andthere are limited spots,
obviously, as we move into theholidays, so grab your into the
holidays.
So grab your right now.
It's called a test driveconsult.
Apologies, I lost track of whatI was talking about beforehand,
so I'm just going to wrap it up.
I want you to really Get clearon your values and also I want
(28:45):
you to determine are these mycore values?
Are these values that I'mcurrently living?
But they're actually rooted ina wounding right as opposed to
my true core self.
So, for a lot of type A's and alot of entrepreneurs and
(29:06):
business leaders that are quiteambitious, many have a value of
hard work, but that value isoften rooted in wounding right
and this is why there's so manyin this arena get burnt out and
overwork.
We're going to be continuingthis conversation because
there's so many in this arenaget burnt out and overwork.
We're going to be continuingthis conversation because it's
really important and there's somany different parts to it.
(29:28):
If you have a question for me,please send me a text message.
You can get the link on mypodcast page and ask me a
specific question and I willanswer that question if it makes
sense for other listeners, soyou can get one-on-one coaching
through the podcast.
Let me know your questions.
(29:48):
As always, I love you, Iappreciate you.
Let's have a kick-ass 2025.
We've changed the name from theConfident, connected Leader to
the Magnetic Leader because Ilike it and it's still
applicable.
Let's stay connected.
Dreams, believe in it, wisdom,we seeking it, everything that
(30:11):
you're looking for, brought toyou by Lisa Jeffs, the Magnetic
