Every coach knows how important mindset is for cultivating change–but great coaches have the ability to expand beyond thought work. So what truly sets highly skilled coaches apart? An integrative approach that combines mindset, emotions, and the nervous system into an integrative approach that meets clients where they are.

Many coaches start with thought work because it’s powerful and effective. But on its own, it has limits. When clients struggle to change their thoughts, it’s often because deeper emotional or nervous system patterns need attention first.

In this conversation with Crystal Hansen, you’ll hear how developing the skills to have this holistic approach not only improves client results—it strengthens your business by making you a more adaptable coach.

After you listen to the episode, don’t forget to sign up for my FREE live webinar on March 10th at noon CT! We’ll go even deeper into mindset and developing a holistic perspective.

The power and limits of mindset work

Mindset work has so many benefits–it’s often the quickest path for your clients to gain awareness, take ownership, and recognize areas where a shift is needed. When your client has the understanding that they can change their mindset, they realize the control they have over their life and circumstances. This power can feel so good! But thought work is not the answer to everything–it’s important to be aware of the issues this can bring up as well.

If clients believe every problem can be solved by changing their thoughts, they may start blaming themselves when it doesn’t work. The truth is that not every thought is controllable. The nervous system plays a major role in how we respond to situations, often outside of conscious awareness. And when a deeper emotion is influencing our thoughts, that’s something we need to process–not “fix” or change.

It’s essential to learn how to recognize when emotional processing should take priority. Highly skilled coaches who understand both can guide clients toward meaningful, lasting change.

A holistic approach sets great coaches–and their businesses–apart from the rest

Skilled coaches need this broader understanding of the tools they can use to truly do their service justice. None of these strategies–mindset, emotional processing, or nervous system work–are better than another. What works for one client may not work for another. Lasting change comes from knowing how to combine them to serve each individual client. A holistic approach will allow you to personalize the work you do to help them move forward in their lives–this is what will set you apart as a great coach, and help your business continue to grow.

If you want to explore the topic of going beyond thought work further, sign up for my live interactive webinar on March 10th. I’m going to teach specifically about advanced mindset work and this holistic perspective that will help your clients. I’ll see you there!
