Steve F. Hallsey is a seasoned multifamily executive with nearly 40 years of industry leadership. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Wood Residential, where he directed operations across the firm’s national portfolio—including owned and third-party assets.
His oversight included management, marketing, leasing, maintenance, and accounting functions coast-to-coast.
Previously, Steve was President and CEO of AMLI Management Company for 14 years, leading the national property management platform for Prime Property Fund, a Morgan Stanley–managed real estate fund. He also held the role of Managing Director of Operations at Charles E. Smith, a publicly traded REIT based in Washington, D.C.
Steve is an active member of the multifamily community, serving on the Board of Directors for NMHC and frequently speaking at NAA conferences and national industry events. His insights have been featured in numerous real estate publications.
Outside the industry, Steve is a creative at heart—an avid hiker, wood carver, sculptor, and painter. He’s also the author of the best-selling children’s book Matilda McGruder and is known for his barbecue mastery on The Big Green Egg.
