(00:00):
Fun fact, girls know when you don't wear deodorant what who is
going to tell me Number one? Step one, any middle schoolers
listening. Axe body spray is not shower in
a can. Adults listening to any smash
pro players out there. Axe body spray is not shower in
a can. Hello and welcome to the

(00:41):
nerdiest podcast, the show wherenerds talk about nerdy things.
I'm your host with the most who's always sleep deprived, Mr.
Nick Barrett. And as always, I'm joined by my
Co host, my ride or die, Mr. Jackson Glass.
And today we're going to be doing things a little bit
differently because this is the five year celebration episode of
the podcast. And to celebrate that, like this

(01:03):
momentous occasion, we're going to be doing Q&A.
We put out AQ and a post on my Twitter and then Instagram and
stuff. So we gathered all your
questions and we're going to be answering those.
But also there's going to be a special little segment of this
podcast where I pre recorded a talking piece with Colin since
he was the first person whoever guested on the show and started

(01:25):
the show with me. So we just kind of chit chatted
for a little bit about that process.
So we'll get there in a second. But before we go to that,
Jackson, how's your week been? How you been doing?
Brother, wow, wow, I'm so happy to be here.
Thank you so much. It's been a pretty good week.
I think I I've gotten to to slowdown a little bit.
I've gotten to work on some stuff that I've wanted to work

(01:48):
on. We have, we're working on a new
EP that'll come out very soon. If you go to Jackson Glass on
Spotify, working on that. Got a very special project that
I can't say anything about yet that I'm working on.
And then a lot of a lot of a lotof YouTube stuff, working on
that at the Glass Studios, YouTube stuff there.

(02:10):
And then I'm also working on shoot.
Oh, we're working on a short film.
I shot part of a short film on Thursday night and I think it's
turning out really great. So lots of stuff.
This is the season where I say we're living in the kitchen
because we're just never, we're never not creating, we're never
not cooking something. And so I'm happy to be here.

(02:30):
But throughout all that, I also had a busy week at work.
So I was just at work a lot and I was just doing homework at
work a lot. But I also, The thing is we
talked I think last Sunday and we were like, oh, let's hop on
Fortnite. Like we just, we want to, we
have some podcast points to talkabout like it's been a while,
Let's just hop on Fortnite. So I, I boot up my Xbox and

(02:54):
Fortnite has like a 60 gig update.
And I was like, oh. No more Fortnite.
Because auto update, it doesn't work.
I don't think there's a single auto update feature in the world
that works. So we were like, all right,
well, no Fortnite. So I was going through my switch

(03:15):
games and I was like, you know, I haven't hopped on breath of
the wild in a while. I had a save file that I like
started and I like got off the plateau and like was working on
it. And then just like school got
busy. So I was like, OK, whatever.
Let me just let me just see whatwhere I was in my breath of the
wild save file. Not even tears of the Kingdom,
just Breath of the Wild and I'm hopped on and I was like, oh, I

(03:40):
really like this game. Like this is a, this is a fun
game and like the sounds are super nostalgic and the music.
So I'm, I'm borderline obsessed with Breath of the Wild right
now in 2024. And it's at the point where I've
I've stopped eating lunch with people so I can go home and play

(04:01):
breath. Of the wild, but that's so much.
It depends on the day. Some days I'm just like, guys, I
got to be honest, I'm kind of socially tapped and I would
rather go get a few dungeons before I go to work.
So is this what being an adult is?
Maybe. So, yeah, I've been just

(04:22):
grinding out my Breath of the Wild because honest, genuinely,
I've never defeated Gannon in Breath of the Wild because I was
so anal about like, oh, I don't want to defeat him because it'll
feel like the game is over. And So what a baby.
Breath. That's also why I've only
defeated the Ender Dragon once. Like I just it, it's kind of

(04:45):
like the end for me. So I was like, all right, so I'm
going to defeat Gannon guys, butI'm going to like try to get as
many shrines and quests and everything done as I can
beforehand. So doing that little little
coughing update because last episode you heard me hacking up
a lung. I am officially the owner of a
brand new inhaler to see if thatcan supplement me hacking a lung

(05:11):
on a daily basis. So update to follow on that.
Fun fact, inhalers make you likeslightly hyper right after using
it. And so they told me that.
And she was like, yeah, by the way, you're going to feel like a
burst of energy like 20 minutes after you use it.
And I was like, are we are we like getting high off the

(05:35):
inhaler? Is this a thing?
Like, are asthmatic people just like just living their best
lives? Like, I didn't realize what was
like. I hacky thought it was just air.
Like I was like, I thought we were just circulating air.
But no, we're like they're pumping you with stuff.
So, you know, update on that. There's that.

(06:02):
So. Before every podcast I take a
hit of my inhaler. So I think it's helped so far.
And I know final spot, I know you've all been dying to know my
latest wedding update. It's all been going very well.
It's all been going very well. I am going right after this
episode. I'm going to take my engagement

(06:23):
photos. So that's our update.
Save the dates are printed, they're out, all the big stuff
is done. And then we just got to we just
got to get there. So anyway.
Still going to put together yourgroom party?
Well, I'm working on that. Right now you're saying.
I'm working on that right now. Six months away.

(06:44):
I'm working on it actually. Anyway, to the day.
Almost to the day. It is to the day what are.
You talking about? No, you're right.
Oh, it is. You're right.
Yeah, I'm working on that right now.
I'm actually working on it rightnow.
Anyway, Mr. Nick, how was how was your week?
Don't even get me started bro. It's been, I'm going to, I'm

(07:05):
going to continue this and recapit as quickly as possible 'cause
like 30 things happened to me. What a week for you.
So first of all, I've just been doing a lot of YouTube stuff,
chilling in the grind. I put out my first video talking
about One Piece 'cause I'm goingto break it down, 'cause I'm

(07:25):
watching One Piece now and I'm doing a video every arc breaking
it down and the first one is pushing 30,000 views, so that's
really nice. Holy cow.
So that's been going really well, just focusing on making
more content, figuring out how I'm going to get to the end of
the year. I've had a little bit of a

(07:47):
hiccup recently in my schedule, but aside from that I'm
streaming on Twitch a lot more which has been really fun.
I played Fortnite this week and still playing Twilight Princess
and then I also got Mario and Luigi Brothership which.
Let's go. To to your point about being an

(08:08):
adult, I have played. I played it Thursday night when
I got it. I have not had a free moment to
sit down and play it again sincethen.
I'm hoping I find some time today, but I highly doubt it.
Same goes for tomorrow. I highly doubt it.
OK unrelated but the new Fortnite season is really good.

(08:31):
I actually really enjoy it. Unrelated, I like the Fortnite
season. I hate that they put the
wrappers in it. I, I like the Fortnite season.
I don't feel like it was. I feel like they're so focused
on their AI bosses that it's like just getting really, really

(08:53):
obnoxious because I don't want to be fighting AI this whole
game. So anyway, that's side tangent,
but. Yeah, I could do some of that.
Not as good as the first OG remix, but did you hear that OG
is coming back in a different game mode, like permanently in
December? So that's pretty sick.
We. Will be playing.
We will be playing. I'm going to try to get you on a
stream. So yeah, anyway, been doing a

(09:16):
lot of that and the biggest thing that happened to me this
week was last week I was drivinghome from somewhere and I was on
the Interstate and I got in a car accident, which is tragic.
Now when I say got in a car accident, I mean I flipped my
car over on the Interstate. So my car got totaled, which is

(09:44):
great. I'm perfectly fine.
Literally by the grace of God, Iwalked out of that car.
No scratches, no nothing. It is such a blessing and a
miracle and I'm thankful for it every single day.
But my car is totaled. So I'm in the process of getting
a new car and the bank is not helping because they're taking

(10:08):
forever to get me all my loan stuff so I can get a new car.
So I should have a new car relatively soon, assuming the
bank wants to cooperate and sendthe things they need.
The big bank man said no, no, no.
But also I have to ask the question everyone's on their
minds. Does the music keep playing when

(10:30):
you get in a car wreck? Well OK, it depends on how your
car is built and how your phone is connected to the car.
Mine was Bluetooth so my car hadAAA built into it so when the
car detected that there was an accident cause the airbags
deployed, it kicked the music off because it was trying to

(10:52):
like communicate to me through the speakers.
And then I had my life. 360 wentoff and my GPS app went off.
Both all three simultaneously trying to call 911.
So then 911 is trying to call meand I'm not answering and I'm

(11:15):
like, bro, there's cops right here.
Can you guys not communicate? Like why do I got to pick up the
phone and tell you? So I I had to answer and be
like, yeah, I'm fine. There's cops and stuff here
already. Like I'm fine.
But in a certain sense, yes, themusic does keep playing.
When I picked up my phone, it was still cranking the last

(11:35):
chorus of LA Devotee by Panic atthe Disco.
So wow, That's that's all right. There you go.
That's it. Yeah, so.
We're glad you're alive, you know.
Me too. Who's going to do this podcast
without me? Huh?
That's. What I'm saying swear.
I got the keys to all the accounts so like.

(11:59):
Unless they're dead. What should I do without me?
Gosh, they can't report a podcast if they're dead.
If they're dead, Oh my gosh. All right, So we're glad you're
live. Welcome.
Welcome to the show. Wow.
How do you want to structure this?

(12:21):
Are we going in or are you switching to the other segment?
I'll go ahead and toss it over to past me to do the bit with
Colin, just cause that's kind ofhow I formatted it.
And then we come back we've got a couple news points to hit and
then we're going to answer all your Q&A.
So I'm going to throw you guys to to past me who's already done

(12:41):
this section. Go hello and welcome to this
special little segment of the podcast because listen guys, the
podcast, you know what we're doing in this like main section
of the episode, but. This, this podcast is five years
old, very old for a podcast. And you know, we're 137 episodes
in and to commemorate the podcast being five years old, I

(13:06):
went and I found my very first Co host, Mr. Collin with no eye.
And we're here. We're just going to chat for a
little bit 'cause it just felt appropriate to bring him back on
and just kind of talk about starting the podcast and what
was our motivation behind that. And we talked about Ruby a
little bit and that kind of stuff.
But before any of that, it's been almost actually, it has

(13:29):
been 2 1/2 years since you've been on the podcast.
Colin, how are you? How have you been this last 2
1/2 years? Well, I exist, Yeah.
I've been really busy and that'smainly why if whenever Nick's

(13:50):
like, hey, do you want to come on the podcast?
I'm like, maybe, but yeah, I'm currently an animation student,
so that's fun. But yeah, maybe maybe you'll see
me animating stuff one day. What if I work on One Piece?
That'd be. Cool dude.

(14:11):
Oh, I can talk about that now 'cause I've I made my One Piece
video and I can be open that I watched One Piece.
Now that would be pretty sick dude.
One Piece pretty good, not gonnalie.
So yeah, anyway, that is that ishow it do be.
So you and I did a thing five years ago on November 9th, 2019.

(14:38):
It actually feels so wild because 2019 was so long ago,
but it doesn't feel that long ago, you know what I mean?
Like it was like 2019 was five years ago, but it with
everything that's happened in the last five years, it feels
like it's only been like two or three and not 5 S.

(14:59):
To think that like five years ago, this time five years ago,
we were sitting here like doing a podcast and we were like, you
know what, let's start a podcastand what did we start with?
But two nerds talk about Ruby Volume 7, episode 1, the
Greatest Kingdom 2 Nerds podcastepisode one.

(15:20):
That's right, the the nerdiest podcast wasn't even a thing
technically. So tell me a little bit about
that. What do you remember about
recording our first podcast episode?
I remember a lot of what it was was us having initial reactions

(15:42):
to the episode because Volume 7 had just premiered and we were
like, we have a lot of thoughts here, so let's discuss these
thoughts. My thought, like my original
inspiration for what we wanted to do for the podcast was from a
old, like, I don't even know if he still makes content anymore.

(16:05):
I'm yeah, I'm pretty sure he does Ruby Tuber called Murder of
Birds. And he did a lot of like
discussion live streams. And that was where I took a lot
of inspiration from. I was like, God, I was like,
Nick, Nick, we could do that. We can do that.
I have an idea. And Nick was like, I wanted to
start a podcast for like years. And so then we just did that and

(16:30):
it was not good. Yeah, I mean, they never start
good, especially if you've neverdone it before.
So I think we did good for what we could.
We we did good time. We did.
Good. We did good for two, like for

(16:52):
two teenagers in high school. Yeah, that was basically we did
the best that we could there. I didn't even have a microphone.
I had a very bad $20 headset micand a not not good room for

(17:14):
sound. Yeah, awful, I had.
Oh, actually it's on a shelf behind me.
I had a blue snowball, which does not sound great compared to
like even the blue Yeti that I upgraded to or the microphone I
have now. Like it sounds terrible.

(17:35):
Honestly, for the sake of the meme, I should have pulled that
mic out and been like all right, let's let's recreate this, but I
didn't want to besmirch the listener's ears with how
terrible the audio quality is. Although I guess you could just
go back and watch that episode, because ironically enough, the
first episode is the highest played episode of the entire

(17:56):
podcast at a whopping 820 listens.
I think it's because we were just going off of the hype of
Ruby and a lot of people just really wanted to hear hear, hear
people's thoughts on it. Yeah, I also think there's
something to say for like when you find a new podcast, you will

(18:19):
go back and listen to the first episode, 'cause if you look at
the like retention time graph, it's in the 1st 30 seconds super
high and then immediately drops off.
And I don't blame people. It's not great.
No, it could could be better. I just remember it was a hard

(18:41):
episode to edit because we kind of just, we didn't have a method
to the madness. It was like we just talked for
two hours and 14 minutes about this Ruby episode.
But also we talked about the intro because there was a new

(19:01):
intro and we like broke that down and theorized on that.
And then we spent the latter half talking about the actual
episode, and we had so many great plans.
We were going to do an episode like with every episode of Ruby
and like stick with every episode.
And I mean, we sure did until episode 3.

(19:22):
And then we didn't. Yeah, we, we, I remember both of
us got too busy and we couldn't make the episode.
That or one of us got busy. I think it was me.
I think I got too busy. It was just really hard to
schedule 'cause I was like November, it was Christmas time.
Like you get like school finals and trips and all kinds of stuff

(19:45):
and it was just a lot to keep upwith, which makes sense.
So then I kind of pivoted and was like, OK, well let's talk
about other stuff other than Ruby, 'cause I wasn't fully
comfortable doing a solo episodeyet.
And then? We never finished talking about
Ruby Volume 7 until later. We did like what?

(20:09):
It was like a minute and a half long.
It I didn't even think it was a minute and a half.
I think it was like 30 seconds like we were.
Like we finally watched it. Yeah, Well, no, it wasn't even
we it wasn't even that was wasn't it like a year after
after that episode? Like let me look a year later.
I'm trying to pull it up. The there I am.

(20:37):
Or was it the eighth? Was it the April Fools episode?
No, it was. It was in 2020, I think, because
I remember it was like sandwiched in between a bunch of
other episodes that we were doing because I brought you back

(20:59):
on for a couple episodes randomly.
Cuz after those two episodes, cuz it was supposed to be like
our podcast. But then you just got super
busy. And I was like, OK, well, I'll
just start bringing on rotating guests.
And then Jackson just kind of stuck around and never went

(21:21):
anywhere. And I was like, OK, guess he's
here to stay. And now you're just kind of here
whenever we talk about somethingyou want to talk about.
Yeah. Oh, there it is reviewing Ruby
Volume 7 finally, October 2020. It was one minute and 31 seconds
long. Yep.

(21:41):
And honestly I would say probably a good 45 seconds of
that was intro and outro. Yeah.
So. No, because it was the the
entire review was 10 seconds it and it was it was just it was

(22:02):
really bad. And I was like, yeah, it was
really bad. And then we just ended the
episode and it. Was like, all right, well,
thanks for listening. We'll see you guys in the next
episode. Bye.
And then it played the outro andthat was it.
And I'm, I'm trying to remember whose idea was that?
Was that your idea? I think it was.
I feel like it was a combinationof both of us cuz I wanted to do

(22:26):
another episode on it and talk about it and then cuz I'd finish
it and I was like wow, I have all these thoughts cuz it's not
great. And then we just never like sat
down cuz I don't either you didn't finish that season or you

(22:50):
finished it and you were like, Ijust don't want to talk about it
'cause I don't have anything like nice to say about it.
And I'm like, you know, that's fair.
You don't have anything nice to say.
Don't say anything at all for for.
For context, Ruby volume 7 was the volume that I stopped
watching Ruby. I finished that volume and I

(23:10):
said, Nah, I'm I'm done. And that's fair.
I, I've watched Volume 8 and 9 just 'cause I'm like so far in
that I kind of want to see whereit goes.
And neither of them were particularly great. 8 was not. 9
started off really strong and then with every episode after

(23:31):
like episode 3, it just started going downhill to the very end.
And I'm like, OK, And then now we don't know what's happening
with Volume 10 because Rooster Teeth is gone.
Well, I wouldn't even say Rest in Peace, Rooster Teeth.
They were kind of a not great company, but.
Yeah, but you know, that's, well, I think who owns Ruby now?

(23:54):
Is it Viz Media? Well, maybe they'll do something
with it. At least they're owned by a real
anime company now. Kind of.
I just hope they bring back the music to streaming platforms.
That sure would be great. It like janked up a bunch of my
playlists to take away the music.

(24:15):
Yup. 'Cause the the show was all
right, but the music, fire, firemusic, it was all banger.
And now it's gone and I'm like, OK, I mean you can still listen
to it on YouTube 'cause there's people who have re uploaded it,
but not on Spotify yet I don't think, at least not officially.

(24:35):
I know there was something like someone said that someone had
randomly re uploaded all of the music and it wasn't official.
No, it wasn't. It was someone posing as like
either someone posing as Jeff Williams or it was like someone
who is just re uploading them and like I I think they got
contacted by Jeff Williams personally and we're like stop,

(25:01):
take it down. Oh.
Well, hold on. Well, if you look at Path to
Isolation is on here, Oh well, Jeff Williams has some of the
songs on here up to volume 8. So.

(25:23):
But then he didn't do volume 9. I think his daughter did volume
9. Yeah.
Because she took over for him and that music was also pretty
solid. Like I said, show all right.
Mediocre at best, especially in the latter half.
But then music, Music still fire.

(25:44):
Yeah. So this looks.
Really good. This being probably the the
third and last time we'll ever talk about Ruby on this podcast.
What is your like? Where do you feel like Ruby
stopped being good? Oh, that's a loaded question.

(26:09):
OK, so I feel like, and, and andthis is fine because this is
actually something that I was talking with one of my friends
about is I feel that Ruby was a very interesting show when you
were in high school or when you were like just when you were
younger and it was still new. But I feel like as the time went

(26:32):
on that that charm of Ruby almost wore off.
It's not to say like the first 3volumes were actually pretty
decent. Like they weren't they weren't
perfect by any means. The animation is obviously dated
because they were using a program that was.

(26:53):
And this is funny because I can actually speak to this since
I've actually started modeling stuff and I'm soon to be getting
into 3D animation. But it's, it's interesting
thinking about like how they were animating stuff back then.
But writing wise, I think Ruby had a very strong start.

(27:17):
And I feel like if I ever were to rewrite it, I would say Ruby,
Ruby's big thing, which which was Volume 3, just needed to be
pushed back and be a more of like a halfway point in the
series where the stakes get really high.
And I think once Ruby started getting bad was or not even bad,

(27:41):
it's just not enjoyable, is whenthey started falling into a
formula of basically post volume3, which is basically, hey,
we're going to go to this new place and then we're going to
take a volume to get there and we're going to spend a volume
there, except not really. And then we're going to have to

(28:03):
go to another place and we're going to take a volume to get
there. And then we're going to be there
for a volume or two looking at Atlas.
And then they'll be like, OK, now we got to go back to this
other place and they take a volume to get there, which I

(28:23):
think is why Volume 9, even though I never watched it,
seemed more interesting because they put it in a, in a, they
kind of took the formula that they had and turned it on its
head. But yeah, I still stand by that.
Like once they got into that almost formulaicness that was
already being presented after even once they got into Volume 6

(28:46):
and they were doing that again, that's where it really just
didn't. It didn't have the same effect
that Volume 4 had, because I feel Volume 4 was interesting
because it was something new andwe were seeing new locales and
new places and characters doing things that they had done
before. But with Volume six it was

(29:10):
similar, but it just didn't havethe same amount of charm.
Yeah, I would say that's fair that yeah, I think for me
personally, everything up to Volume 6, I think Volume 6 was
kind of like, 'cause after that,it feels like with Volume 7, the

(29:31):
writing just took a decline in quality.
And I think the show has always looked nice, like it's been very
visually appealing for that style they're going for.
Something that did bother me a little bit with Volume 9 was
this push to almost make it moreanime Y and it was like because

(29:57):
it was exclusively airing on Crunchyroll and like they made
this push to kind of make it feel more like an anime.
And I'm like, well, it's not an anime, but you'd like it's anime
inspired. And I think that's what makes it
so great is that it's this American made anime like very
clearly anime inspired show thatdoesn't need to be an anime.

(30:21):
Like it can just be its own thing and it kind of, I think
lost a little bit of its identity in in the shuffle and
in the process. And I've always felt like Ruby
has an incredibly solid concept and like really great concept,
really incredible, like world building and power system and

(30:46):
just all of that is really cool.Like this like fantasy sci-fi
setting. Love that.
But it's the execution of what they do in the later seasons
that I think ends up hurting thestory because it's just the way
it's being executed and how theykind of have to like retcon this

(31:07):
to add in this thing. But then you're still trying to
justify this other thing that you said you retconned and like,
it just kind of becomes a jumbled mess.
It, it almost, it almost feels like they're, they were writing
it as they went. Like they got one episode going
and they were like, OK, let's write the next one.
And then they weren't really looking back on what they had

(31:29):
written before to make sure thatit was consistent.
And that that's kind of like thebiggest thing is when you get
into those later volumes of Rubyor like, nothing feels
consistent, even like, kind of like you were saying with like
it has a great power system and a great concept.
But the issue is, is that concept and and even the power

(31:51):
scaling seems to be so inconsistent and fluctuate,
especially in volume 7, because there are people who are, you
know, going through and doing fights that they definitely
shouldn't be winning and they are winning because of power of

(32:14):
friendship basic. Right, yeah, I mean, it's I
want, I want the best for Ruby. I really do like I and I almost
feel like at this point we'll see if they get a volume 10.
It feels like 'cause now they'reowned by Viz Media instead of

(32:36):
Rooster Teeth and it feels like Viz is very intent on getting a
Volume 10 done. Whether or not that's the final
season, I don't know. I, I mean, I know story wise it
probably shouldn't be. If you're going to stick with
like a nine episode season, it definitely should not be the

(32:59):
final season because there's a lot narratively that still needs
to be concluded. But we'll see.
It might be one of those like we've only been guaranteed one
more season, so we'll just finish out now.
But I don't know. We we'll see.
So as we bring this special section to a close, we did put

(33:26):
out AQ and a section. And Colin, I'm gonna get I'm
gonna get your answer to some ofthese questions.
Since the people ask the question I won't say anything
because I've already answered iton the main show or about to so
I will save myself from repeating.
But first question do you? Well OK first question has a

(33:47):
question. Do you play smash like smash
ultimate? Not so much anymore, but I used
to. OK, so when you did, who was
your main in Smash Ultimate? I often would find myself
playing Joker, but I don't know,I feel like there are characters

(34:07):
who I really wanted to pick up and like actually learn because
I've been wanting to get into into fighting games more
recently, but I don't know. That's fair, that's fair.
What is your favorite fight scene in an anime and why?
Oh God. OK, that's all.

(34:28):
Right now that that is a hard one.
Favorite fight scene. OK, so it's hard because there's
like so many going through my head right now.
For me, I would have to say there's two there.

(34:54):
There's two in my opinion, because they are two fight
scenes in my opinion that have always left an impact on me.
It is the final fight of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and
also the I wouldn't. I don't even know if you would
count it as a fight scene, but it it pretty much is.

(35:18):
It is the final shootout from Cowboy Bebop.
Yeah, I'd say it's a fight back in Canada.
That that one where it was when I watched it, I was like, OK,
this is this is amazing. And I just kept watching it so.
What I would say that's that is very fair.

(35:40):
What was the first video game that made you fall in love with
them? The first video game that made
me fall in love with them. So fall in love with just video
games in general. Yeah, like what's the game that
made you fall in love with videogames and, like, wanna play more
video games? That's one.

(36:04):
Right, kind of a loaded question.
That yeah, that's that's one where I would say I also have
two answers. I'd say my first answer has to
be Zelda Twilight Princess because it's my favorite game of
all time, but the other answer Iwould say is Personified Royal.

(36:35):
That's good. And that's because it was a it
was a game that I was playing ata very challenging time of my
life. And I had a very interesting
circumstance on how I was playing that game because I had
to, I could only play it like once a week when I went over to
my brother's house. So I I basically got to just

(36:58):
brain rot on that game for 12 hours a day whenever that would
happen. And so yeah, that that was what
really made me like, that was what made me really enjoy RPGs
again, because I used to really,I like, I used to like RPGs, but
then I got really burnt down on them.
And yeah, actually, I lied. I have a third answer.

(37:22):
Another one is just this kind ofmade me really start to
appreciate some other like more Western titles and that's Red
Dead Redemption 2. That game is phenomenal, great,
very, very good storytelling in that game and I really, really

(37:43):
appreciate it. Nick, you should play it.
I sure should. You are correct.
I do want to play it at some point.
I need to play the backlog of like bajillion games I have
before I do that though. You should you.
Should finish Persona 3. I you know you're also.

(38:04):
Right. Didn't you say you're gonna
finish that in October? Yep.
And then I didn't. Yep, I'll do.
I got three more. OK.
If you could have the power set of any fictional character, what
power would it be in one? Power set of any fictional

(38:27):
character OK. Yeah, so it's not like just
limited to anime, any fictional character.
Any fictional character. I that's a, that's just a very,

(38:51):
very, that's another loaded question, yeah.
It makes you think you're like. Which one do I want?
Like exactly. There's so many out there.
I would say probably. Probably just being able to do

(39:19):
like transmutation from formula alchemist.
That's fair. That's good.
That's very well-rounded and hasa lot of good practical use in
in your daily life. That's fair.
I. Don't know what type of
transmutation, but something like I wouldn't want to do like

(39:41):
Roy Mustangs because that's justlike, you know, it rains, it's
not useful. But yeah, I would do something I
think more like utilitarian, like, you know, yeah.
That's fair, that's my answer. Oh OK.
What is the worst anime you've ever seen?

(40:04):
OK, so Nick, this this is another another podcast
reference. So the worst anime I've ever
seen is a short little show called Domestic Girlfriend.

(40:29):
Domestic Girlfriend is horrible.It is.
It's. Terrible.
It's the worst show I've ever seen.
And it OK, it's, it's, it's really funny because one time I
showed that to I, I showed that because I was like, hey, there
was this girl I was talking to and I was like, hey, do you want

(40:50):
to see the worst anime I've everseen?
And she was like, yeah, sure. So I put it on and we watched
the first episode and she was like, that wasn't even that bad.
And I was like, what you're. Like just hold on, it gets
worse. Yeah, I was like, OK, OK.
Trust me, trust me, it gets worse.
It gets worse. And then I don't think we ever

(41:12):
watched the rest of it. Good.
Don't. Yeah, like we just watched the
first episode and we then that was like the same night that my
friend was like, hey, we should watch High School DXD.
And I was like, why would you want to watch that?
And so then we watched like an episode of High School DXD and I
was like, this is awful. I think what made Domestic

(41:36):
Girlfriend bearable was the factthat we watched it together and
we just like, laughed at and clowned on it the whole time.
It was genuinely, it was the, I think it was one of the most
like just times that I've ever laughed in one sitting.

(41:56):
Yeah, just because we could not believe what was happening on
the screen. Yeah.
Our expectations were low, but it just kept going, like the bar
just kept getting set lower and lower.
Yeah, that checks out. Yeah.

(42:17):
And then the last question is also a loaded question.
What is your favorite anime opening?
Oh favorite anime opening? OK, oh, that's a hard one
because it it took for me it it's kind of like cycles.

(42:37):
OK, I'll give you 3 because I can't decide my favorite.
So one of them is definitely Oh,what is it called?
Oh, fighting gold from JoJo part5.

(43:01):
That. Is good case study of case study
of Bonnie Toss opening 2 and again by UE which is full metal.

(43:22):
That's good. That's good, that's good.
That's a solid list. Yeah.
I can't even be men. Well, thank you for coming on
reminiscing like the good old days of starting this podcast.
Hold on, I just the one I thought of wasn't even the
wasn't even opening. It was an ending my fault.

(43:44):
Hold on, I got to substitute my my second one because I just.
Realized, you know, that's an ending.
No because it's so good that it honestly I thought it was an
opening. Bonnie toss opening or ending
too is really good. Yeah, I'll just throw this one

(44:05):
in there. RE.
I am from Gundam Unicorn. Yeah, that makes sense.
Yeah, you got to get a Gundam one in there.
Yeah. You're like the Gundam guy.
I am the Gundam guy. This is true well, thank you for
coming on reminiscing like the good old days, talking about

(44:25):
Ruby and other anime things for now viewer, it's going to cut
instantaneously for you I'm going to send you back to the
main show I'm. Going to the shadow realm.
Back to yeah, Collins going backto the shadow realm.
Maybe we'll pull him out again sometime in the future, but for
now, I'm going to send you. Right, back to the main show.

(44:48):
Don't put me in the basement, Nick.
And we're back. Thank you past Nick for sending
it back to me. Now we got a couple of news
points to go through here beforewe jump into Q&A.
Just two. Yeah, yeah, yeah, just two, just
two. So let's.
Get our. Little news drop.
Wiki Wiki Wow News time. Oh yeah, here we are.
Got him. All right, so both of these are

(45:10):
from the hit social media platform Twitter.
I'm sorry XX. Dot com.
The first one is that a live action Lego Ninjago movie is in
the works at Universal now. Slight slight caveat here.

(45:36):
The original creators are comingback to write the script, and I
believe they're directing as well.
The original creators of the show.
Yeah, so Dan and Kevin Hageman are coming back to write and or
direct the movie. OK.
Which helped me with the initialknee jerk reaction.

(45:58):
Yeah. 'Cause it doesn't feel like a
completely soulless corporate cash grab type thing.
My bigger concern is that it's live action.
How does that work? Because I feel like if you put
Ninjago in live action aside from Spinjitsu, it just becomes

(46:20):
Avatar the Last Airbender. I was going to say what, what
what what differentiates this from the Netflix Avatar?
Like at all. Spinjitsu.
Oh, if they don't play the weekend whip, why am I going?
Yeah, exactly. You know, weekend Whip, what's
the point? I also think like, I don't know,

(46:44):
like how do you cast this? Like what's the, what are how do
you make that decision? Because also like like the
Ninjago movie, like the Lego movie with like Jackie Chan like
changed up what Ninjago was and then it affected the show and it
was bad. And so like, are they going back

(47:07):
to the original or are they sticking with like the movie
theme? Or is it like this feels like it
could have been amazing if they essentially tried the Lego
Ninjago movie again, but animated and made it like the
show because that's what people wanted genuinely from the

(47:29):
beginning. And the Lego Ninjago movie was
kind of like the start of the downfall of Lego movies.
And so it's just kind of like there is an opportunity to do
something really great here. But then like you got Minecraft
live action. They just sent a picture of the
Lilo and Stitch live action thatlooks like absolute garbage.

(47:51):
And there's just like the Lego Ninjago live action.
Like what? What is it going to take for us
to realize this is just stupid 'cause I, I'm tired of it.
Yeah, I, I don't know, it feels really weird that they continue
to try to do these live action adaptations of animated things
because it's like, yeah, do another animated Ninjago movie.

(48:13):
Or maybe you couldn't justify itto the higher ups because it
didn't perform well last time. Or I don't know what the the
reasoning is there, but I do feel like there's a better way
to go about doing that then, Oh,we're just going to do a live
action one. Because also I'm interested to

(48:33):
see how that works. Because unlike something like
avatar, right, when you do the Netflix avatar, it's very easy
to be like, oh, we can cast thisperson or this person even like
the live action one piece, Like you have a very clear directive
of who you can cast. Whereas like in Ninjago, for

(48:57):
lack of painting around the Bush, they're all yellow Lego
people. So like, how do you correlate
that to like what features are you correlating to this person?
Like for Kai, are you just goingto get someone who has spiky
hair? Like 'cause that's really the
only differentiating the main differentiating.

(49:19):
Features. Between all of them, 'cause
they're Legos, they're all yellow like.
Like they're just. I'm not saying it's impossible
because it absolutely is, but it's also it's also like they're
Legos and they got the claw hands and like.
You see the quotations I'm making with my claw hands?
It means I don't believe. You and then they're just going

(49:41):
to now I have 5 fingers and poseable.
Thumbs, I don't know, It's the kind of thing where it's like
the Ninjago also like there's just a point where it's like the
Ninjago story has been told and I think it's been told in the
best possible way that it's going to be told.
Yep. So like there's a point where
it's just like, don't ruin it and don't waste your energy,
don't waste your money. Go make something original.

(50:03):
Yeah, I guess it's great for theHagman's because they haven't
been involved in Ninjago for a while.
Right. Maybe this is a good step.
And they, I, I know they really love that show and I can
understand why they'd want to come back to work on it in some
capacity because it's kind of like, if you're going to do
this, you might as well do it with me.

(50:23):
So. Right.
That is a good choice to have them back.
But I'm just frustrated that we keep like we keep pushing for
live action. Meanwhile, in the animation
department, like Moana 2's aboutto come out and everyone's doing
all these side by side comparisons of the first one in
the second one based on trailers.

(50:44):
And it was very clearly supposedto go straight to Disney Plus
because the Moana, because Moana2 was originally a series.
Yeah, it was going to be a Disney Plus original series.
And then they were like, oh, shoot, this isn't going to work.
So they compiled what they made and turned it into Moana 2.
So they're in. It's going to be in theaters

(51:04):
with a Disney Plus original series animation quality.
And I'm just not, I'm not happy about that.
So I don't know. There's just the animation
industry has just been really, really weird for the last few
years. So I don't know what happened.
Yeah. So our other news point, yeah,

(51:26):
which this should be interestingis apparently Star Wars episodes
10 through 12 are reportedly in the works.
Simon Kinberg is writing the trilogy, although some insiders
think it may be the start of a new saga instead.
There has also been a decent amount of speculation that this

(51:50):
is being morphed into a Ray trilogy because they lost the
writer for her movie and then they were already like Daisy
Ridley had already said that shewas going to get multiple movies
out of that. So a lot of people are thinking
that they're just morphing whatever The Raid movies were

(52:13):
going to be into 10 through 12. Personally, as the Star Wars
fan, you know, I got my Star Wars shirt and all stuff on the
shelves behind me. I want it to be the start of a
new trilogy, but at the same time I also want Disney to just
stop because with every new StarWars project they make, it makes
me not like the franchise even more.

(52:36):
Like every time they open their darn God forsaken mouth and spit
out a new Star Wars project, I'mlike, that's disgusting and I
don't like it 'cause you you're losing the fundamentals of what
Star Wars is supposed to be. Now if they can get back to
that, great. If they can go back to the
fundamentals, but they've lost their identity like in the

(52:58):
current, their current mindset and current worldview doesn't
work for Star Wars because Disney's stories right now, the
entire point is like nihilism. And it's like, what's the point?
Nothing matters, Just live your life.
But literally the point of Star Wars is hope.
So like this doesn't correlate. And so they're not, they don't

(53:20):
get it. But looking at the Simon Kinberg
filmography, he has some bangersunder his belt.
Really. So like he worked on all the
Deadpool movies, so he produced all the Deadpool movies, he
produced Logan, he produced Murder on the Orient Express,

(53:41):
Death on the Nile and A Hauntingin Venice.
So however you feel about those.Films.
What is under his writing credit, what's he got under his
belt there 'cause that's what he's been tagged with these
movies for. I don't know if he's also
directing it. It does give me a slight bit of
hope that they said it. The way it's worded sounds like

(54:05):
he's writing 10:11 and 12:00, soat least they've learned to have
one overarching writer for the trilogy so it has some semblance
of directions. So according to IMDb, he wrote
Mr. and Missus Smith, which is actually a really great movie.
The old one, Yeah, like the one like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie.

(54:26):
OK. He also, this doesn't bode well.
He wrote all the modern X-Men movies, which are very they're
kind of hot. So he wrote the Robert Downey
Junior Sherlock Holmes OK, whichis an OK movie.

(54:47):
He created and wrote Star Wars Rebels, which I did not know.
So that's. Possible.
OK. That's huge actually.
That's. That's huge because Star Wars
Rebels is kind of goaded. The thing with Rebels is like,
it has really high highs, but then really low lows.

(55:08):
But then around season 3 and four, they really locked in and
cut the filler and figured out what they were doing.
So I think if he can bring that level of quality to it, OK.
And and he at least understands Star Wars to a certain extent,
so I'm OK. I feel a little better now.
So you could do that. You also like, it's the kind of
thing where it's like, yeah, he worked on Rebels and Deadpool,

(55:28):
but he also like produced the live action Cinderella.
Well, that movie wasn't too bad. That movie's not bad.
He also, I mean, he produced TheMartian.
He worked on The New Mutants, which is kind of a so I don't
know, it could go either way. He he has some bangers under his

(55:51):
belt that could it could work out.
I'm not I'm not counting it off.So it's possible.
Real quick, real quick. Just a quick little news point
that I forgot about until now. Brief update, because it's been
about a year since we've done this episode.
We got an update on the Zelda movie this week.
I forgot about that. Because Nintendo had their

(56:13):
financial meeting and they talked about it.
They also said that like Switch to is going to be backwards
compatible and they confirmed that.
They also confirmed that it'll be revealed or there will be
news about it before April of next year.
But for the Zelda movie, it's been given a broad 2020 blank

(56:33):
release window, so it will be released before 20-30, which is
great live action adaptation directed by Westball.
The release window allows flexibility for the director and
more time to develop the film properly.
So I like that they have given him a time frame of like, hey,

(56:57):
we want it out before the end ofthe decade, but also take the
time you need to make a really good movie.
So dude, 'cause I that is unheard.
Of 'cause if you don't put some kind of cap on it, that's how
you end up with a like 10 year long production.
Hell production. Hell.

(57:18):
Yeah, gets really expensive. So it's like, OK, your cut off
is 2029. So you've got.
You have like five years. Five years to make this film.
Somewhere in there. If it goes quicker.
Great. If it takes, that's fine too.
So yeah, just figured I'd share that little update.
Meanwhile, you go to like, Meanwhile they're like, yeah,

(57:40):
the new, the new Jurassic World movies are looking for a
director. Release date is July 16th, 2028.
Yep. And it's like, why did you set a
release date you don't have? A.
Director, I don't know, I. Think 1 comes out next year
'cause I remember us talking about that and you're like, you
don't have a director, but you're coming out in theaters
next July. Yeah, like.

(58:01):
I don't know about that one. Straight to straight to VHS is
so bad. All right, gang, you ask
questions, we have answers and we want to answer them.
So let's let's hit it. So first we're going to go
through our Instagram Q&A for our wonderful Instagram
followers and I'll hit I'll address this first one.

(58:24):
This says Andrew secretly wants to be a guest star but would
never say anything that was posted by Andrew's wife.
So Andrew, I know you're probably listening.
You're probably in the car or you're running or you're
pretending to work or you know, whatever, wherever you are, just
want you to know. Once the perfect episode comes

(58:46):
around, you're in Once it's likeonce that perfect like sweet
spot hits and the perfect thing you're in, say the word, we'll
let you know. All right, now next one, we will
do this a little. We'll kind of briefly do this
one 'cause we the last time we did AQ and A was episode 100 and
now we're in episode 137, which is bonkers.

(59:12):
And we did this, we talked aboutthis whole story in episode 100.
So if this is something you're interested in, go back and
listen to that one. It's somewhere in that three
hour episode. How did you and Nick meet?
In real life. Yeah.
So we both lived in the same town at the same time and kind

(59:33):
of like we're in, like we were more like acquaintances, like we
just ran in the same circles. Yeah, we were it.
Was really like. Friend.
Friend of a friend type thing, right?
And then I you moved away and then I message you at some point
I was like, hey, do you want to come to my podcast and talk
about like Star Wars and stuff? Because one of my other guests

(59:54):
was canceled And you were like, sure.
And then that was November of 2019.
And then you didn't come on until July of 2020.
And then ever since July of 2020, you've just kind of stuck
around. I just haven't been able.
To get rid of me. So now we can't get rid of me.
Oh well, here we are I. Think the, I think the deepest

(01:00:16):
lore, the deepest Jack and Nick lore that I can go into was we,
we developed our friendship overCOVID.
And so like October 2020, I can exactly pinpoint we had a
schedule where like every day at2:00 we would get on this
Minecraft world and it was maybeone of the, it's in like my top

(01:00:39):
five Minecraft worlds of all time.
Like such a good world. And at the time it was like
we're in quarantine, like COVID was raging, like we were in an
election season. Like there was just a lot to
talk about. Like my dad was super sick, like
he was bedridden for like a month just cause of COVID.
And so it was just like a reallyanxious time.

(01:01:03):
And so the ability to just go and play Minecraft like was
really, really needed for both of us.
And we just kind of like both confided in that and bonded over
that. And now we're here and it's,
this is, gosh, November 2020. Four yeah, I sent Jackson a text
this week 'cause like, obviouslywe had the election this week,

(01:01:24):
we're not going to talk about it, but I sent him a text on
Tuesday and I was like, all right, Election Day 2024, you
know, four years ago I was in college, you were still in high
school and we're playing Minecraft and now four years
later, I'm out of college tryingto buy a new car and you're in
college about to get married. Like it's.

(01:01:45):
Like what? Crazy.
How much trouble? Four years.
And like, I don't know, I won't we say this so many times, but
like the podcast really is just a time capsule.
Like it is so, so hard to go back and listen to those
episodes. So, all right, moving on.
Best type of bear Personally, I love a good black bear.

(01:02:11):
I I love the Smoky Mountains andI see a lot of black bears
there, but also, dude, polar bears.
Polar bears go hard and they drink Coca-Cola.
And I grew up, I grew up going to the zoo and like the polar
bears were always like really active and so black bears, but

(01:02:32):
also polar bears. You can't pick two, you gotta
pick one. Polar bears OK for me.
I gotta go with my homie and thepanda bear.
Yo. Cuz all they do is eat all day

(01:02:53):
and they just kind of chill. Like they're just vibing.
They're kind of derpy. And I'm like, you know what?
I respect that. I respect your.
Fight the American Dream. Eat fat, do nothing all day.
Yeah, that's it. Roll, roll down some hills.
That's it. You know that's what pandas do.
Almost go. I play Minecraft.

(01:03:14):
It is what it is. Oh, but what can I say?
That's the. American Dream.
Oh. My gosh.
All right. How Jackson met his fiance.
This is a good story. Can I keep it brief?
I was born on a cold December night, which is actually not
true. I was C sectioned on a pretty

(01:03:35):
warm December afternoon and it so we so when I moved, when I
moved here, we met at church, which is the number one place to
meet your spouse, by the way. We'll come back to this later.
The we were there and she was myolder sister's best friend when

(01:04:02):
we moved here and she had a hugecrush on me and I did not know
that and because I was very oblivious.
And so they were like, we were just kind of like similar to
like me and Nick, we're just acquaintances.
Like we were just kind of like we were friends.
Like she was just my like my sister's friend and like we hung

(01:04:22):
out some and so like then she went to college early.
So like there was a separation and like they live together and
so, but she was so essentially she knew me for three years and
had a crush on me when like didn't say anything, 'cause it
was like her best friend's brother.
Well, then I got to college and we were kind of like had more

(01:04:44):
proximity and it was just like, kind of thing.
And she was like, well, and she just told Sam, my older sister,
she's like, yeah, I really like him.
Have for years. And she was like, OK, I'll tell
him. And she was like, no, you can't
do that. And she was like, OK, I won't.
And then she texted me, Sam texted me and she was like, she

(01:05:07):
said, I think you need to ask Amy out.
And I was like, I don't know. I don't think she'd say yes.
Like it was the kind of thing was like I had considered it
like earlier, but I was like, I don't, I don't know sister's
best friend. Like it's it's just weird.
Like I was friends with her brother-in-law, like her fan,
like our families were tight. Like it was just like AI don't
want to mess with that. And she was like, no, she's

(01:05:28):
going to say yes, I need you to do it.
So I air quote went and returnedtheir card game and I like so I
went to their dorm and I I told Sam was like send Amy to get the
card game. And so she came out and I was
like, so dinner Sunday night andshe was like, yeah, you right.
And we were like, all right, bet.

(01:05:49):
So. But it's also so funny because
like from that moment we were like so many, there's so many
couples that are like, well, ourfirst date was this, but we
started dating as this. And then we were boyfriend and
girlfriend at this. And, and I was kind of like for
us, we just had this mutual like, yeah, we're dating.
It was like this. Is it like we're we're dating?

(01:06:10):
And then it was like 2 weeks later, she was my girlfriend.
And then I went on a fall break with her family and threw up in
their car and it was awesome. So that's like the that's the
the condensed version of that story.
One day I need heard one day. Like we've always said, we've
we've learned from bad experiences.
That podcast guest is a wife privilege.

(01:06:30):
There are no girlfriends on the podcast.
We gotta go on post wedding and do you like post wedding post
wedding like interview like we can say we can figure out how to
set it up so that you guys are on the couch and I'm on a chair
and it's like an interview stylelike an.
Interview style That would be great and the show she can we

(01:06:51):
can tell that whole story later, but that's the condensed
version. That's very nice.
So I remember when you when you, because it was right after I'd
graduated college and I was chilling at home and you were
like, hey, I'm going to go ask this girl out.
And I'm like, oh, go off, brother.
Alright, Papa. I guess.
And then he came back and you'relike, so I'm going on a date on
Sunday and I'm like. Right, let's go.

(01:07:14):
What the freak? That's good.
That's very exciting. It's very it's it's very nice to
see that come like full circle and you guys are getting married
now, like that's so wholesome. Don't say.
Cute. All.
Right. Next question.

(01:07:34):
Why didn't you run for presidentthis time?
I'm sorry, I forgot. I forgot to register.
They didn't invite me to the primaries, man.
I forgot to register to vote to run in the primary so.
Yeah, I forgot to throw my hat out there.
I could have been four years. That's my V.
So we'll we'll loop back in thatone in 20. 20 my favorite my

(01:07:55):
favorite tweet from all week wassomeone said they're like man
driving around my neighborhood looking at the yard signs.
I think everyone's voting for ADT.
I also saw. One that was stupid.
That was like I think I got confused by the yard signs and
voted for a realtor. No, I saw that.

(01:08:17):
I was like, there were some goodtweets coming out of there's.
Some banger tweets this week. All right.
What film, bro movie or pretentious movie is actually
good? I pondered this question for a
while yesterday. Give me your answer, I got to
look through my letterbox real quick.

(01:08:37):
OK, I think my favorite like airquote pretentious movie is La La
Land. That movie sucks.
That is a see this, this is the thing.
It's a it is a pretentious. I think La La Land is a pretty
pretentious movie, but I actually think it's very good.
Other than that I'm like I'm also going to look at my
letterbox but like I genuinely do not like I could not like

(01:09:03):
name another one. See, I don't watch the
pretentious movies though. That's the problem, yeah.
I don't think is Lord of the Rings pretentious.
No. I don't feel like it is.
I don't feel like it is either. I guess better let there be

(01:09:23):
carnage, my favorite. My favorite pretentious movie.
See, I just haven't seen I guess.
Like maybe Inception is a littlepretentious.
I mean, I think that's the only one I've seen that would qualify
for that. I think Inside might be a little
pretentious, not in the way thatlike not in like a film bro way,

(01:09:45):
but like I guess maybe 1917. I really like 1917, but it is
very like one of those like innovative filmmaker movies that
like kind of like runs its concept into the ground.
But I do really like 1917. I really like La La Land.
How do you feel about Knives Out?
Yeah. You think that counts?

(01:10:08):
I think it's borderline pretentious, but I think that
movie is like 5 stars so. Yeah, I do too.
I think that's the closest I could get.
It's probably Knives Out. Yeah, 'cause that's the thing, I
actually have a list on my on myletterbox.
It's like classic movies I need to see apparently.
And it's things like The Godfather and like Kill Bill.
And I've still never seen The Dark Knight, which like.

(01:10:31):
We got to fix that. Ruffles a lot of feathers, but.
Yeah, I just don't watch a lot of the pretentious movies, so I
don't. Would you consider The Dark
Knight a good pretentious movie? In the sense of what it did for
this superhero genre, yes. But outside of that, I don't

(01:10:54):
know. All right.
All right, Good question. Thank you.
The next one is all these out ofeverything sourdough, how will
the new administration handle this?
Honestly, I think. They got bigger fish to fry.
They do have bigger fish to fry,but you know, they're all out of
all that stuff. There's a lot of people that are

(01:11:16):
kind of sourdough. So I don't, I don't know what to
do with that. Ha ha, I see what she did there.
That was funny. Moving on.
Can you please do an episode ranking the Disney sequels worst
to best? That would be hilarious.
This is Amy. She really wants us to do, like
it, like, watch all of the crappy Disney sequels and then,

(01:11:39):
like, rank the ones that are, like, actually worth watching.
And I'm like, yeah. Can we, can we content farm that
and do a video on each one and make it like a long running?
Well, I don't know if I can say that 'cause the last time I
tested you with editing a video like that was a year and a half

(01:12:00):
ago and it still hasn't been started.
So. That one might be a wash TBH.
We'll see what happens. I got to go through it.
I think it's still on my drive. It's.
Still on my drive. Gosh, next question, Toilet
paper over or under? If you say under, get out of my

(01:12:22):
home. Yeah, no over is the only
correct way. Yeah, no, I Yeah.
No, don't talk to me. How much wood could a woodchuck
Chuck? If a woodchuck could Chuck wood
a lot, he would Chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could Chuck.
If a woodchuck could Chuck wood hypothetically, currently, for

(01:12:42):
the sake of an argument in this economy, probably not a lot, no,
because you know, you know, if this woodchuck grew up in a
middle class family, then who's to say?
Stop that question. No I still think it's funny.
Would you guys consider reviewing slash watching
youtubers show slash movies? I'd love to know your thoughts.

(01:13:08):
I sure would consider. It what is that?
Is this like a new thing? Well, yeah, like Markiplier has
AI. Think he has a show or a movie?
On Is it on YouTube? No, I don't think so.
OK. I think it's on like one of the
traditional streaming. I think it's on Amazon Prime.
Well, Amazon has been pretty progressive on grabbing like

(01:13:30):
Internet people to make things for them to the point where
like, granted, I think they're cancelling the Mr. B show, but
that's another conversation. So I think the.
Allegations that came out about that, I think they're
cancelling, yeah, I think they're, if I had to take a
guess. But there's also like YouTube
talked about adding like a streaming part to YouTube TV

(01:13:53):
that like let essentially creators upload like episodic
content to that. So kind of like the Prime Video?
Direct. Right.
It's like Prime Video direct andit's kind of like they tried to
do this with like YouTube Red and I just don't think there was
a market for it at the time. But I think we're like, I think
we're at a point where we're fedup with streaming enough to

(01:14:14):
where we're watching more YouTube anyway.
So we may as well watch it in anepisodic format, right?
But also like the creators that would do that are the ones that
are full time creators that havethe budget to make genuinely
good shows. It's just giving them the
creative freedom to do it, right?
So essentially yes, but only very specific Youtubers because

(01:14:35):
most of them are probably not worth my time.
That's so fair. That's kind of where I'm at.
That's so real. Next question do you think game
studios announcing new games years in advance hurts their
launch day? Yes, I think I also think it
doesn't bode well for your marketing because if you look at

(01:14:56):
the the start comparison betweenmost of the game industry and
Nintendo what and I'm trying notto sound like a Nintendo shield
here. So I'm going to be as objective
as possible. If you look at some of the like
Xbox or Sony games that get announced, it's all CG trailers
and no gameplay and it's just like here's the CGI trailer 2028

(01:15:23):
and it's like OK tag. That says not actual gameplay.
Yeah. And it's like, OK, well, it's
not much for me to get excited about.
Like, yeah, I'm excited you're making a new Star Wars game or a
new Marvel game or whatever, butthere's like no gameplay.
There's not like it's a game. I want to see gameplay.
And then if you compare that to Nintendo and, and what ends up

(01:15:45):
happening a lot of time with those other games is they get
delayed. So you say like, oh, this is
2026. And then the game doesn't end up
coming out until 2028 because the marketing side vastly
underestimates how long the development team needs to
actually make a good game. So then on the Nintendo side of
things, what they've learned with the Switch is they announce

(01:16:08):
a game six months before it comes out.
Like Mario and Luigi just came out this week, was announced in
June, like brand new game announced in June, coming out in
November. And that's something very
intangible. You have gameplay to see, you
have something to get excited about, and now you have a date

(01:16:29):
to put that on. Or like a couple or last week, I
think they announced Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition
is getting ported from the Wii U.
They showed CGI gameplay or CGI like cutscenes, but then also
showed gameplay and then said, hey, this is coming out in
March, another six months later, here's this game.

(01:16:50):
So usually their window is five to six months.
And that works out great 'cause you can get really excited for
this new thing that's coming outand still have a tangible like,
oh, I know when that's coming out.
As opposed to being like, well, Oh well, boss, shucks.
And I mean, there's some games that are the exception of that.

(01:17:11):
Like Metroid Prime 4 just has 2024 and Tears of the Kingdom
had like 2022 and then 2023 and then they gave us a date.
So like some of their really biggames, they'll tease like that.
But even then, Nintendo is also really good about when they give
you a year, they are very confident that they will be able
to hit that. Year, right.

(01:17:35):
Well, also, like, I'm just thinking about this from like a
marketing principle because you think about like the marketing
team is who the studio wants to be when the development team is
who they actually are. And so it's kind of like, yeah,
we want to release in 2026 and it's like, but it's going to be
2028. And so like the alternative is
releasing in 2026 when it's not ready.

(01:17:56):
Yep. And that's somehow worse.
And so a la Cyberpunk, a la Battlefront 2, you know, fill in
the blank all out Animal Crossing, TBH.
And so no, for real, it's kind of like it's kind of like that.
So like from a market, like I think about, I've studied a lot
of marketing for music, just like Instagram promo, like

(01:18:19):
what's your best strategy? And a lot of people say they're
like, you should not post about what you're releasing more than
like a week before because people will lose interest.
They'll it'll become another thing on their timeline.
And so it's the kind of thing where it's like as a small
artist, I'm thinking like, OK, I'm really excited about this.

(01:18:40):
Hey, guys, I'm doing this thing. It comes out on Friday.
You post that on Friday, you sayin seven days this is coming
out. Because I don't have the
Nintendo Reach to say this is coming out in six months.
So this is just a smaller scale version of this to say, hey, in
seven days this is coming out. And then two days later you're
like, hey, here's a little pieceof information about it.

(01:19:03):
Two days later, here's another piece of information.
The next day, here's the final piece of information.
Listen to this tomorrow. And then it's out.
And the very interesting thing that always talk about is
they're like, you can't promote something that doesn't exist,
right? And it's the kind of thing where
it's like, why are you dumping your marketing budget into a
concept and not a product where, like these games are saying,

(01:19:26):
hey, this will be out in four years.
They're trying to sell you the idea of the game because they
don't have anything to actually show of the game, right?
So like they're trying to sell something that doesn't exist
where Nintendo is more like, hey, we're going to be dead
silent about it until it's completely done so that our
deadlines do not change. And when they do change, they're

(01:19:47):
kind of like, hey, we really want this to be super good for
you guys. Like we need to push it a little
bit, right? And people get mad, but like,
they also have a great track record of quality.
So it's the kind of thing where it's like Nintendo is selling
you something that is real because they took the time to
make it real. So.

(01:20:08):
Long story short, do game studios announcing new games
years in advance hurt their launch day?
Absolutely. Because you have immediately
also like, from a like a like a crappy marketing standpoint,
you've lost anyone's ability to impulse buy because you've given
them three years to lose interest.
And you don't even put pre-orders up yet.

(01:20:29):
No, it's. Literally just announcing the
game. Usually when Nintendo announces
a game, it's same day pre-ordersare up at GameStop, Best Buy,
Target, Amazon, Nintendo E shop.Like they're those lines for you
to give them your money impulsively off of the hype is
there and they're ready for that.

(01:20:52):
Whereas these other games are like, well, I don't know what to
tell you. And then there's cases like
Tears of the Kingdom got announced in 2019 and then it
didn't come out until 2023, which is the odd case and I
think another reason why Nintendo doesn't announce things
in advance as much anymore. And.

(01:21:13):
But also that was because of COVID.
Yeah, and I think that was a bigfactor of like, oh, well, that
was an outside force that we couldn't control that delayed a
lot of our games. And you mean you even look at
like Metroid Prime 4 was announced in 2017.
It was announced 8 years ago andit's still not coming out until

(01:21:34):
next year. So I think at that point they're
like, we're just not going to dothat anymore.
We're not going to announce anything.
And if they need to delay a gamelike Super Mario Bros Wonder had
no deadline. They were like, the game comes
out when it's done and you guys make a good game, it'll come out
when it's done. And then they don't have to be

(01:21:55):
like two years ago, be like, hey, we're working on a new 2D
Mario. And then they have to keep
saying well, it's getting delayed and then it's getting
delayed. Our team needs more time.
It's getting delayed like. She just came up to saying, hey,
by the way, this exists. Hey, we're still working on
this. It's like no one cares.
Like if you don't have somethingto show, don't show it.
Like it's that simple. If Nintendo's delaying

(01:22:16):
something, they have a really good reason.
Like Tears of the Kingdom got delayed by a year, and they
spent that year polishing stuff and it turned out to be a really
good game. So, Long story short, yes.
We need to. Stop announcing things.
And same goes for movies too. By the way, we need to stop
announcing things 30 years in advance.

(01:22:37):
It's kind of like when Kevin Feige set out the entire Marvel
timeline for the next 10 years and all the directors were
posting on Twitter like this wasnews to me.
Yeah. And then they have to like.
Keep flipping around the schedule and.
Yeah, No, it's not. Delaying movies and.
Yeah, she's like, don't promise anything.
He's like, hey, no promises, butwe might work on this.

(01:22:58):
Who's to say? All right, all right.
We're moving on to some questions from the lovely people
ofx.com. Nope, Twitter.com.
Twitteritstwitter.com All right, what's your favorite and least
favorite food? Favorite food is steak,
specifically in fajita form. Least favorite food is ketchup.

(01:23:20):
I like this is like one of my one of my hotter takes, but like
I just can't. I can't do the texture, I can't
do the taste, I can't do the smell.
It just like like I'm not a hugetomato guy, but there's
something so processed about ketchup that just does not work
for me. It makes me feel very ill.

(01:23:41):
OK, that's fair. I guess I disagree with you on
ketchup, but hey, that's OK. Neither here nor.
There we can live in harmony. Discord handshake other way.
Oh, sorry, sorry. OK, OK.
There we go. Yeah, that's good.
OK, good work. Good.
All right. My favorite food?

(01:24:05):
Probably chicken Nuggets if I could get so real real real.
Least favorite food? It's a toss up between Brussels
sprouts and asparagus. Wow, I would rather die then
have to eat Brussels sprouts or asparagus.

(01:24:26):
See. I hear that a lot.
Brussels sprouts, it's a taste, but also a texture in the sense
of I don't like how it falls apart in my mouth.
And then asparagus is very like chewy and gammy and I don't
understand and I also don't lovethe taste.

(01:24:47):
So see I hear that a lot like a lot of people just despise
asparagus. I like I grew up eating a lot of
asparagus and so like that is genuinely my vegetable of choice
is asparagus. I also think about Veggie Tales
and how my favorite characters are the asparagus, but that's
fair. Anyway, good question, that
makes sense. What's your Super Smash Bros

(01:25:08):
main, assuming you play Smash? Do you play Smash?
No, but when I did here's my problem with smash is I I
started playing smash way too late to the point where no one
was at my skill level. They were all just way too good

(01:25:30):
and no one was like willing to like walk me through the like
process. I also just don't really love
competitive games, like if I'm if I'm playing, if I'm playing a
game that's like competitive, like Fortnite, like I want to be
on a team with you. Like I don't want to play
against my friends. And so like, but when I did

(01:25:50):
play, I think I played Bowser all the time because I thought
like his his like his like butt smash thing was really good.
But I also really liked the me boxer.
He was cool. I had a me boxer named Logan
Paul and he was kind of goaded. That's fair.
My main alternates between Steve, Pyramithra and Younglink.

(01:26:15):
It just kind of depends on the day because like two of those
are DLC. So if I'm playing on someone
someone's Switch who doesn't have the DLC, I'll switch to
Younglink or Zelda. I'm pretty good with Zelda.
Yeah. I'm also trying to learn Shulk
because I like Xenoblade. So I'm, I'm trying to learn
Shulk. So I have a another base game

(01:26:38):
main that I can use. So it's hard to learn Smash
because most of the people I play with are outside of my
skill level vertically. So they're better than me.
So it's very hard to learn when you're getting Molly wopped
across the stage, but you know. Wambo combo, Wambo combo and
it's just kind of like, I don't know.

(01:27:00):
I also like knew some people that got like so into it and
it's turned into like a screaming match And I'm just
like, this isn't like this isn'twhat like the, the people that
I've met that are really in the Smash are not the people I want
to play games with. So that's part of the part of
the reason I wasn't super into it.
But I do think it's a fun game to like play with like my family
'cause we're chill about it. Moving on, a lot of a lot of

(01:27:22):
video game questions. I actually really appreciate
that because we haven't gotten to talk about games in a long
time. What was your What was the first
video game that made you fall inlove with them?
New Super Mario Bros Wii I that's.
A goaded choice. Remember playing that with my
uncle a lot, which he wasn't my uncle yet, he was just my aunt's

(01:27:44):
boyfriend and I thought he was cool because he would come over
and let me play on his. Wii that is goaded step uncle
behavior. And he, I don't know, we just
had a lot of fun and like that game has such a special place in
my heart and like triggers this special nostalgia in my brain.

(01:28:08):
And when I played, that was whenI was like, oh, I want to play
more video games. And that got me hooked on like I
got a 3DS and then an Xbox eventually.
And now we're here with a switchand a PlayStation and all that.
So that was, that was, that's. A That's a goaded choice.
I think I also got me hooked on video games.

(01:28:30):
Made me fall in love. I think like Minecraft was
probably like the most influential just 'cause it was
like the most creative I had ever been like at the time and
it like sparked this creativity in me.
But I think like, shoot dude, oh, it's, I'm really torn

(01:28:53):
between like like New Super Mario World 'cause I had the NES
port on the Wii and I like played the mess out of that game
'cause I thought it was like so retro, which is kind of
embarrassing now. But like I've, that is genuinely
one of my favorite games of all time.
And sometimes I just go back andplay it 'cause it's so fun.
So like New Super Mario World and like Lego Star Wars The

(01:29:15):
Complete Saga and like Webkinz, we're just like goaded in my
mind. That was kind of like what start
and Mario Kart Wii, Like those were all the games that like my
dad played with us. And so like I thought it was so
cool that like he would come home from work and then we'd all
eat dinner and then like we'd all eat super fast so we could
go play a couple races before bed.

(01:29:36):
And it was like, just like, genuinely, like, as an adult, I
think about that. And I'm like, man, I may never
achieve true peace again. Because, like, playing Mario
Kart after dinner and like, staying up a little past your
bedtime on a Friday night is just like, get out of here.
Get out of here. All right, This isn't really a

(01:30:00):
question I can answer, but I'll pose it to you.
What is your favorite manga? Oh.
My hero again, I will easy. I will go ahead and answer.
I had an action Bible as a kid. That's so fair.
That is my favorite monk. I'll give it to you, He.
Said my hero. Yeah, OK, Good word.
Good word. Next one.

(01:30:21):
Best anime magic system? That's so hard.
What counts as a magic system? Like is my hero a magic system?
Magic system is like whatever the like yeah, like the quarks
in My hero. It's not necessarily like Harry

(01:30:42):
Potter magic, but it's like quirks in my hero breathing
style and demon Slayer. I would argue like just from my
narrow view that like the breathing styles is probably the
coolest visual animation I've ever seen.
I don't want to say my hero again, but OK, I won't say my

(01:31:03):
hero. It's not I'll I'll give 30.
Gosh, definitely breathing styles from Demon Slayer.
I really like the quirks in My Hero, and then the stands from
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure are really cool.

(01:31:25):
All right, so. That's a good word.
I couldn't, I couldn't never have done a one.
I did. I'm going to say Veggie Tales,
Lord of the Beans and how they they all have their own little
abilities and also the League ofIncredible Vegetables.
That's my answer. That's so fair.
Have you have you seen the League of Incredible Vegetables?

(01:31:46):
That Veggie Tales special? That is genuinely one of the
most underrated modern veggie tales.
It is so good. You're not wrong.
All right, top three wish list for Switch to games.
OK Persona 3, no, I don't need Persona 3 because I have it on
PlayStation. Final Fantasy 7 remake OK Oh, I

(01:32:18):
don't know, this is hard. Genshin Impact.
Oh. And can I say a better working
version of Minecraft? OK, no, I was.
That was what I was going to say.
I was going to say like, can I say Minecraft, but like as if it
was an Xbox. Can I say?

(01:32:39):
Better Minecraft and better Fortnite.
I'm going to say, OK, top three, better Minecraft.
I'm going to say like if we could do like a new Mario Kart,
I would. I would.
I would mess with that. That's real new Mario Kart.

(01:33:02):
OK, I really want, I really wantthem to go back to the doing
music, like rhythm games, because we music is one of their
like most underrated games. And they like when the Switch
released, they did like the Nintendo Labo thing that didn't
really go anywhere 'cause it waskind of stupid, 'cause they were
like, yeah, pay $100 for cardboard.
So like that wasn't great, but like do another rhythm game

(01:33:26):
where you can like play like popular songs similar to like a
Just Dance, where like you couldlike like set up a song list,
but also like if you could create your own and just run it
through some MIDI. Like there's so much meme
ability for that. And so I think it's like we need
a, a Mario Maker version of We Music and that that's what I
want. OK, that's fair.

(01:33:48):
OK, this next one is like a little little little more
serious that I don't. I'm still not really sure how to
answer it. Biggest godly intervention in
your life? Oh, I have a top contender.
And it was. And it was flipping my car over

(01:34:11):
because that was such a scary experience, as you can imagine,
like one second you're driving on the Interstate, the other
second you're upside down in your car hanging from your seat
belt. And like one, the fact that I
was alive because a lot of people get in similar or worse

(01:34:33):
accidents and don't come out alive.
So the fact that I was alive wasone and then when I got out of
the car and kind of like shook myself off, the fact that I was
completely fine, no bruising, scratch, scrapes, nothing.
Like just for me personally, there was no other explanation

(01:34:55):
for that other than it was like a God's, I'm not done with you
yet. Like you still have a purpose
here. So you're still gonna like,
you're gonna be OK. So that's that's definitely
mine, yeah. There's also another like long
story. I could go down with a past
relationship, but that's a long story and not arguably as

(01:35:19):
relevant as the car thing. So.
Right. I'm trying to think, I know.
I think a lot of like Christian conversation is hard when people
are like feel like their lives are too boring to have an
interesting testimony when it's like in reality, those are the
most relatable ones. And so it's like, I don't have
like a mountaintop experience necessarily to kind of be like,

(01:35:41):
this was the biggest like I heard the voice of God.
I think it's more like I moved alot in high school and I think,
and at the time that just genuinely really confused me
because I thought like, why do Ihave to keep starting over?
I was like, why do I have to make new friends every time?
Why do I have to like set up my room every time?

(01:36:02):
Like why do I have to like startcompletely over so many times?
But now I look back as an adult, like everything was a stepping
stone to get where I am now. And it's like, you know, you
lived here because you had to learn this with your family.
And then you moved here so that you, cuz you needed to learn
this about yourself. And then you moved here because

(01:36:22):
you needed to learn this about, about me.
And then you need to learn move here so that you can meet Nick
so that you can do this podcast. And then you need to move here
so that you can meet your wife. Like you need to like, so you
can meet like your best friends. And so it's just kind of like, I
would consider that the biggest intervention of like, I moved a
lot and that was so confusing and it drove me insane because I

(01:36:46):
was just like 14 years old. Like, God, why do I have to keep
restarting? But now I'm like, Oh my gosh,
that genuinely made me who I am today and I would not change it
at all. That's pretty sick.
All right, moving on. Number one's weapon in cinematic
history to bring to the apocalypse.
That's a loaded question. That is a difficult question.

(01:37:10):
What kind of apocalypse are we thinking?
Like zombie apocalypse. I'm thinking zombie nuclear
fallout. I think zombie's a little basic.
Let's do like nuclear fallout. Like let's say this is like a
Fallout situation. OK, so for nuclear fallout #1
weapon from cinema history. OK, well what's the enemy like?
Are we just other people? Radioactive humans?

(01:37:33):
Radioactive humans? OK, it may not be practical, but
I think I got to go basic and take a light Saber because they
never run out of battery. It's very well actually.

(01:37:56):
No, this is practical no more. I think about it.
It can cut through pretty much anything, never runs out of
battery, and can double as like a tool to cut things but also a
weapon to like kill people. So the only downside is I do
have to get relatively close to these radioactive humans to kill

(01:38:19):
them with the lightsaber, but I should be OK.
Not to be basic, but I also Lokiwant a lightsaber because I feel
like that's the most practical you could go.
I guess. Like maybe I would choose the
ring from Lord of the Rings if you consider that a weapon, just

(01:38:41):
because I want to disappear. But also like the ring rates.
No, I'm just like in this nuclear fallout, like I'm not.
I'm just saying if there's a nuclear fallout, you will not
find me on the front lines. Like I am running away.
There is, there is no like lightsaber scenario where I'm at
the front like no, like I'm I'm getting out of here.

(01:39:03):
Like that's not happening. Dude, we could have taken an
Iron Man suit. Ah crap, OK, I changed that Iron
Man suit thought. About that, I was like, oh, I
didn't even think about Marvel. I was like running through like
all of my the fandoms and I was like.
Oh, but an Iron Man suit requires energy.
That's true. Power source like a.
Lightsaber. Maybe like a solar Iron Man

(01:39:25):
suit, you know? Just got a giant solar panel rig
on the back and he's like he can't fly 'cause I have the
solar panel on. And then the sun explodes and
then the suit explodes 'cause it's just too much solar, you
know, It's just the whole thing.Good question.
Weirdest thing you've ever eaten?

(01:39:45):
I also have a recent answer. OK, mollusks or no, I'm sorry,
oysters. Oh EW.
Yeah, I went out with a couple of friends from church and we
went to like this higher end restaurant and one of them got
oysters and I was like, oh, I'venever had them before.

(01:40:06):
Let me try it. And I tried it and Nope, icky
EW, I can't do that. It's a.
Texture. Yeah.
It's like eating a chewy booger.No, I think in a similar vein,
one time I had escargot, which is like technically snails, but
it was this one time in like early high school.

(01:40:26):
We like somehow I don't know whyor how we went on a Disney
cruise and Disney cruises are like all inclusive.
So like you can order three appetizers if you want.
It's all prepaid. So like I would like every meal.
I was like, let me try the friedBrie, the escargot, and the
pasta with a side of crab cake. And so the escargot, it

(01:40:48):
genuinely just tasted like mushrooms.
I was kind of disappointed. Like I was ready for this like
crazy experience where it was like disgusting and then it was
like, oh, it tastes like mushrooms.
So anyway, that's probably the weirdest thing I've eaten #1
slept on game I'm. Trying to think about like a

(01:41:12):
game that I'm always encouragingpeople to play.
I feel like, well, I think for me it would be like Forza
Horizon, like cuz the Forza games are like fun, but I think

(01:41:33):
the Horizon series is super underrated because it's like
this huge open world that they were obviously worked very hard
on. And you can drive so many
different cars and there's so many collectibles and races and
stuff. And so like I've had the same
Forza Horizon three save file since like middle school and I'm

(01:41:53):
still I think like 70% through it, like playing it on and off
over the years. So I think the Horizon, Forza
Horizon games are do not get thecredit they deserve for how vast
their open world is. That's fair, I think.
Monopoly for the Nintendo Switch.
No, very close though I'm going to go with Xenoblade.

(01:42:16):
I feel like Xenoblade is a very underappreciated franchise and.
A. Lot of people don't like the
more open world RPGs, and I can understand that because they're
definitely not for everyone. But I do think that at some
point, even if you just watch like story cut scenes or watch a
playthrough on YouTube, everyoneshould experience Xenoblade

(01:42:40):
because it's some of the, I would argue, deepest and richest
stories Nintendo has. And I think they're very fun.
I'm looking very much forward toplaying Xenoblade X on Switch
next year. So yeah, that's, that's my pick.
Xenoblade. That's a good word.
That's a good word. If you were an Amiibo, what?

(01:43:02):
What would scanning you unlock? This is genuinely my favorite
question. Nothing good.
I don't know, you might unlock achronic addiction to anime.
Maybe that's. That's gross.
That's that's about. I think it would.

(01:43:25):
You would get a lot of coffee and you would get a long winded
rant about physical media. And Can you imagine if you just
like scanned an Amiibo and then like you got like a Harry Potter
esque letter and it's just like this Breath of the Wild item
that you open and it just startsscreaming at you.

(01:43:45):
Like it's like, why do you own this game digitally?
If you think so, yeah, it'd be alot of coffee.
It would be a long winded rant about physical media.
I'm trying to think of like my staple like items.
Yeah, it would be my my Christmas water bottle.
Is that a staple item? You've had that for like 2

(01:44:07):
months. I've had that for like 2 weeks.
It's nice. I'm trying to staple.
Get out of here. My my living with the land shirt
because I like accidentally wearit in like every episode.
There you go. Now we're getting somewhere.
Now we're cooking. Gosh.
Mine, I think would be this hat, this, yeah, this podcast hat and

(01:44:29):
like one of my hoodies because Iwear this same hoodie all the
time. Yeah, yeah, that's what I got.
You probably get a chocolate milkshake from mine just keeping
it on brand. Yeah, that makes sense.
That checks out. Yeah, all right.
If you could have the power set of any fictional character,

(01:44:50):
whose power would it be and why? This is another loaded question.
This is another really difficultbecause, like any fictional
character, I. Don't want to pick teleportation
again. I always pick teleportation and
it's getting. Boring dude.
Teleportation is the most goadedability though.
It is, but I always pick it. I would low key choose John Wick

(01:45:14):
because then I could decide whatto do with it.
You know, it's like very. Fair.
Because if I choose like CaptainAmerica or like, you know, Iron
Man, like something like that, or like Star Lord, like I'm
going to get drafted. So like so like if I'm just like

(01:45:36):
front lines, if I'm just a dude that's like low key good at
fighting, then like no one has to know.
But like if I needed it I could use it.
I think I'm going to. I think I'm going to steal
Deku's powers of like one for All, especially like later on in

(01:46:00):
the series. Later you don't know, but like
the way his power grows and evolves would be so useful for
modern life. And it's another one that I
could choose what to do with it and not get drafted.
I would be very efficient at draft dodging.
So if I make howl from Howl's moving Castle, does that include

(01:46:25):
the castle? Is that part of it's like roll?
Around like a pimp and just kindof like go around.
Anyway, this is I think my second favorite question next to
the Amiibo 1 is how do you pull maidens?
How do you pull maidens, guys? All right, let me give you a

(01:46:45):
crash course. Fun fact, girls know when you
don't wear deodorant. What?
Who is going to tell me? Number one?
Step one, any middle schoolers listening.
Axe body spray is not shower in a can.
Adults listening to any smash pro players out there.
Axe body spray is not shower in a can you need personal hygiene

(01:47:07):
all right take a shower brush your teeth we look nice like I
know I know you love your basketball shorts that go past
your knees and your Lightning McQueen T-shirt that's what I'm
wearing right now but here's thething you need to look
presentable you need to comb your hair wash your hair wear
wear your favorite shirt please I'm wearing my Lightning McQueen

(01:47:29):
T-shirt Nick's always wearing a Star Wars shirt.
I'm always wearing a Disney shirt, you know, but, like, look
nice. Yeah.
And then, like, be intentional. Have a genuine conversation.
Don't, like, be awkward. Don't be weird.
Like, don't, don't try to make everything a joke.
Like, you know, just ask her questions like.

(01:47:51):
Girls love talking about themselves.
Girls loved not even in like I think everyone loves talking
about themselves like not even in like let me rephrase that
like a girls way. Girls love talking about
themselves, but what they love more is a guy who will listen
and listen very intentionally, and you notice and pick up on

(01:48:11):
small things that she thinks youwouldn't remember and like.
Girls like that because yes, they like to talk about
themselves, but what's the pointof talking about yourself if the
person isn't listening? They're just.
Right, right. Yeah.
But you have. To actually like retain that
information and. Listen.
Later on, be like, oh, hey, I know you mentioned you're

(01:48:33):
reading this book. How's that going?
Or you're playing this game. How's that going?
Like, oh, you mentioned you wanted to go do this.
Have you gone and done that yet?Let's go do this.
Yeah. And then invite her to go do
that, you know? Oh, where do I meet girls go to
church. All the best girls are at
church, That's what's. So right.
No one. This is what the the society

(01:48:54):
won't tell you. The best girls are at church.
It's where they are anyway. Yeah that is a that is a crash
course on how to pull maidens. Feel free to feel free to come
ask for more info if you need clarification on anything.
Essentially, be an upstanding citizen and girls are like just

(01:49:16):
be an upstanding citizen. That is a nice guy that is
intentional that to talk and to listen to.
Yeah. You know, it's not, it's it's
not rocket science. It's just it's hard.
All right, that was a really good question.
Other than My Hero, what is yourfavorite fight scene and why?

(01:49:37):
That's another loaded question. I know this is I know the
intention was to be like anime related, but my favorite fight
scene in any movie is the overhead.
The overhead shot from John Wick4 where he has the explosive
shotgun I think is genuinely my favorite fight scene in any

(01:49:58):
movie ever. That and the bowling ball scene
from Violent Night. OK, so if we're branching out of
anime, I will stay animated, butI will say which one is it?
A personal favorite is the fightbetween Ahsoka and Darth Vader

(01:50:24):
in Star Wars Rebels, because that has so much.
It's so emotionally charged. Yeah.
And it's just. It's makes sense.
It's good. OK, good word.
Easy question. Bears or wolves?
Wolves. Bears, dude.
No bears. Wolves.

(01:50:47):
Bears are awesome. You can't.
All right. I like dogs, but like bears.
But wolves are just a hug of bears.
OK, but like bears, I also grew up like earlier, like I said,
like I loved going to the zoo growing up and all the bears
were always so active and I was like, dude, bears are awesome,
but. Dude bears sleep for like half

(01:51:08):
the year. Yeah, they're living the
American dream. I wish I could be a bear.
Wish I could sleep for half the year.
I wish I lived there. Really.
No. All right, two questions left.
Worst anime you've ever seen? I know your answer.

(01:51:28):
Sword Art Online, any adaptation?
Oh, thumbs down vomit. For me it's easily domestic
girlfriend. I could tell you, I could tell

(01:51:49):
you from that title that that isdefinitely the worst.
Yeah. Lord, have mercy.
No, no. No, we don't need to get into
that. All right guys, final question.
Interpret this question however you'd like.
Where did you get the idea to dothis?

(01:52:13):
How are you I'm interpreting this question?
I don't know. I think the question is where
did you get the idea to do this podcast like generally?
Speaking. Which, if you want that full
story again, the 100th episode, but we'll give you that full
story, the quick version. The Cliff notes I think is.

(01:52:46):
I just wanted to talk about all of my favorite nerdy things in a
much longer and less structured format than making a YouTube
video essay because I was not particularly good at writing
video essays. And I'm still not arguably.
But I think the podcast was a way to sit down and talk about

(01:53:11):
all of the like a nerdy things Iwas into and just have a fun
time with it. That's a good word.
Essentially for me, pretty much same.
I don't think I realized how much like pent up nerdy energy I
had until like like part way through the shows on a few

(01:53:33):
episodes. And I was like realized that it
was helping my conversations in real life too, because I was
like we were discussing and forming our thoughts and it
wasn't just like the stream of consciousness.
And so like, I think the idea was also just kind of like, I
want to run my thoughts through here and kind of like verbally

(01:53:58):
process so that I know how I feel about movies and shows.
And it also saves my friends from getting my 2 hour nerdy
rants just 'cause I, I get to get it out here and then I can
spare them. So.
And here we are five years later.
Sure are on episode 137. Holy cannoli.

(01:54:19):
Holy crap guys, we did it. We're here five years later.
You know, I bring the statistic up every once in a while, but
the average lifespan of a podcast is 7 episodes or a. 130
and that is? Brutal.
We are 130 past the standard, which is insane and I know that

(01:54:41):
because like I I did another spin off podcast that didn't
really work. You did another spin off podcast
that like worked for a while andthen kind of like fell off.
So it's like just the fact that we've been steadfast and
consistent for five years has genuinely is just a marvel and a
feat. And I'm just, you know, I hope
that it shows how much we love it here and how much we love the

(01:55:04):
community, how much we love talking to each other and
hanging out and talking about the ever changing landscape of
media, movies, shows, games, andjust nerd culture in general.
So thank you so much for your questions.
Thank you so much for your support over five years.
It's genuinely just been so muchmore than I ever could have
expected from a podcast. I didn't expect it to become

(01:55:27):
such a thing and such an integral part of my life, but
I'm really grateful for you guysto submit your questions and
always listening and always supporting.
Grateful to Nick for always working so hard.
You know, this show doesn't work.
The show wouldn't work if it wasunequally yoked, if you will.
So we're just kind of, we're just kind of working hard and

(01:55:48):
we're happy to be here. So thank you so much guys, for
the last five years. Anything else to add before we
wrap up here or? Do we need to do that
announcement thing? Oh crap.
Hey guys. So.
I didn't think about that until like 2 seconds ago.
I was like. Shoot, dude.

(01:56:08):
Hey guys, so happy five years. We love it here.
We're so happy to be here. Asterix little note.
We should have said this at the beginning and we'll we'll post
about it and do a little clip. If you are one of our nerdiest
after show subscribers, thank you so much for your dedication

(01:56:29):
to the show and like just especially in your monetary
value. Like we worked really hard on
the after show. We loved it.
But looking at our schedules andour, our ideas for the show and
kind of like what we've want thepodcast to be, we've made the
difficult decision to discontinue the after Show.

(01:56:52):
We're going to be turning off subscriptions.
So we don't, we, we're not goingto keep taking your money.
We're not going to expect you tocancel it.
We're going to discontinue it. What happens to those episodes
is still TBD. We will be releasing them in
some form because we, we think they're really good episodes and
we want them out. So if you're not an arduous
after show subscriber, maybe you'll be able to listen to

(01:57:14):
those and you'll have this wholebacklog of extra content, but it
just it wasn't working out in the schedule.
And you know, we really appreciate your dedication to
it. We thank you so much for being
invested and wanting to listen, but we also just need to give
you what you deserve. And we don't have the capacity
right now to give you the high quality content that you

(01:57:35):
deserve. And just like, so it's not you,
it's me. And we're hopefully going to go
back to it later. But just so you know, the new
news after show is like on a what do they say?
It's it's indefinitely delayed. So we might.
Live back around here and in thefuture when we both have more

(01:57:55):
free time. And like Jackson said, what
happens to those episodes is TBD.
We're throwing around some ideason the back end to figure out
what to do with those episodes 'cause they are good episodes
and it would be great, especially if there's no like if

(01:58:15):
you're turning subscriptions off.
Well, then those episodes are just locked behind an infinite
paywall that will never be seen.So it's like, OK, well maybe
that mean. And you know, maybe the second I
cancel subscriptions, Spotify islike, oh OK, and uncheck open
all of them and opens the flight.
But the downside? Is you kind of got to go scroll
for them? Right 'cause it will find some

(01:58:37):
way for you to see it. So maybe we'll re upload make
we'll go weekly for a while likewe'll see what happens so.
Yeah, it's all up in. There, essentially, we'll post
about it just in case you didn'tmake it to the end of this
episode. But if you did make it to the
end of this episode, thank you so much for listening.
Thank you for submitting your questions.
It's been such a journey. We're so happy to have you guys.

(01:58:59):

got mugs, we got stickers, we got everything you'd ever want.
It's the best way to support theshow because this is a fully

(01:59:20):
independent production. We do everything here.
And thank you so much for listening over the last five
years. It's been really awesome.
So unless you have anything elseto say, we will see you in the
next episode. Bye.
