I'm so excited to talk with youguys today about this topic.

Instagram, even peopleresponding to my emails that I'm

their hot mesquite and whatthey're going to do about it to
actually get results, buildbutters, they can be free to
live their lives again, insteadof feeling like they're, you
know, angry tummy bugs areruling their lives.
And I've heard it come up a fewtimes.
Oh, well.
You know, that sounds amazing,Katie.
Like you, what your work, thatsounds awesome.
Like you're getting results forclients.

(01:48):
I'm seeing their testimonials.
I'm listening to their stuff onyour podcast and you're really
effective, but I've been lookingat just maybe doing a gut
cleanse or just follow up,taking these supplements for a
few months.
You know, their marketing andadvertising is saying it's going
to get rid of all my issues too.
It's going to take a lot lesstime on my part because I'm not

(02:09):
having to learn.
I'm not really changing much.
I'm just taking these pills andit's going to fix it all for me.
And they're saying that it canhelp and it's less money too,
because I don't need, you know,all the expertise.
It's shorter term.
I'm just.
buying these supplements andit's gonna fix it.
And you know, that's all fineand good.
And I do believe that there aregood companies out there that

(02:29):
are obviously marketing aneffective product.
Otherwise they wouldn't be inbusiness or there would be
lawsuits around them, which someof them, yes, you have lawsuits
around them.
So you may need to make surethat, you know, who you're
looking at and researching, youknow, their effectiveness, but
not every company out therethat's selling supplements is
skeezy.
Some of them are really, reallygood, but I wanted to just share

(02:50):
it with all of you guys today.
Why sometimes that's a greatoption for you.
And why maybe sometimes it's notand just helping you walk
through and think through thatdecision making process so that
you're not potentially wastingtime and money on something
that's not going to help you ordelaying just doing something

(03:11):
that's really simple that couldhelp you.
So we're going to talk about allof that today.
So does, does just doing a gutcleanse or taking a supplement
protocol really pay off?
So let me tell you guys, fromwhat I've seen, I've been at
this for a hot minute.
I'm not new to this, like I'vebeen working with people for
years.

(03:31):
I've helped hundreds of peoplereduce their gut symptoms by 80
to 90%.
And if you're new around here,You know that I may have a sweet
Texas accent.
I may speak gently, but I speakthe truth and I'm not afraid to
give you a gentle, kind, lovingkick in the pants if you need
it.
And ultimately it's out of lovebecause I don't want you wasting

(03:54):
your time.
I don't want you not gettingresults.
And so just know that I reallyam saying all of this.
I care about you and I want youto feel better because I have
been there myself withstruggling with digestive
symptoms, not knowing what to doabout it, and just wanting to
feel better.
So I get it.
So first of all, a lot of thetime these gut cleanses or you

(04:17):
know, gut, you know, whateveryou wanna call it, supplement
protocol that you're orderingonline.
It's honestly like it was justfair season here in Texas with
the Texas State Fair.
So I'm thinking of all the likefair games.
It's like doing the like dartsat the balloons.
I don't know if that's even afair game because we didn't do
that, but I'm sure it is.
Carnival game, whatever.
It's like a classic, right?
It's like throwing darts at theballoons, blindfolded, and

(04:40):
you're not as skilled.
dart thrower which in thisinstance, you would be a skilled
dart thrower.
Maybe if you had my experience,but honestly, I couldn't even
give someone a gut cleanse andguarantee that it would get them
results because you don't knowwhat's going on.
You don't know what directionthe balloon is in.
You don't know.
What the balloon is.
So in this case, the ballooncould be a parasite in your gut.

(05:04):
It could be a bacterialinfection.
It could be by normal bacteria.
That's just in the wrong place.
Like we see in the case of SIBO.
You just don't know where yourtarget is.
So by taking a supplement, whoknows if it's going to help,
right?
You're like, maybe you'll getlucky, you know, maybe you'll
get lucky.

(05:25):
And it'll help you, but maybeyou won't.
A lot of the time you won'thonestly, because it's more
complicated than that.
And that really takes me to mysecond point is whatever a
supplement is doing is reallyjust one of like seven plus
parts that go into gut health.
It's not just about your localgut environment.

(05:48):
right now as it exists today.
It's about how it got that wayto begin with.
Are those circumstances stillgoing on to where, you know,
maybe you'll remove or replaceor whatever the organism is.
But if those circumstances arestill present that got you there
in the first place, you're goingto maybe feel better for a

(06:09):
little bit, maybe.
And then you're going to end upright back where you started
because the actual issue isstill there.
Like the actual issue most ofthe time isn't the pathogen the
bad bacteria, the bad bug.
It's whatever allowed it to bethere in the first place.
And there's a lot of differentthings that can go into that.
And some of it's food and someof it's hydration, but some of

(06:32):
it is stress.
Some of it is relationshipboundaries and team time
management and sleep andexercise and of course
nutrition.
Like I said but it's not justsupplements.
And so even though it may helpin the short term, oftentimes
what I see whenever people justfollow these gut protocols or

(06:52):
even my own clients in gutrehab, if we haven't been able
to fully identify all of theissues yet, somebody might lose
their focus.
feel better.
And then we noticed symptomsstart coming in.
And the differences wheneveryou're doing gut rehab, you have
me there with you to like phonea friend and be like, Hey,
starting to feel bloated again.
Okay, let's take a look.

(07:13):
That's information that we needto know that your body is
telling us what's still sittinghere that we missed.
What have we not seen yet?
Because I've always said this,you know, healing your gut.
I like to speak in likeanalogies and metaphors.
So hopefully you appreciatethis.
I always say healing your gut islike you're following a map or
GPS, but you don't get thereally big overview of your

(07:34):
entire route.
You just get the turn by turndirection.
So even me, like I'm getting theturn left in 50 feet with you,
but then I can help you evaluatewhere we're at and then help us
decide where to go from there.
Or, you know, Hey, you missedyour street when you turn around
and go back.
But if you're just doing a.
A supplement protocol that youbought online.

(07:54):
You don't have any of that.
So you're just flying free.
And then the disappointment atthe end of that, after you put
all your weight in this thing,and it's going to be the thing
that fixes everything.
And then you're so disappointedat the end and you're like,
well, I'm never going to getbetter.
You know, I did this, I followedall the rules, and these
supplement companies, theirmarketing is so great, you know,

(08:17):
they want you to think that thisis all you need to do, and this
is the thing, and you want it tobe the thing so badly because
you want to feel better, butsometimes it's just not the
thing, or it's not the wholething, you know, there's just
more to it that you need to do,so maybe it's completely off,
and you need to completely startover, but maybe it's just a part

(08:38):
of it, and you need to keepgoing, but you're going through
it.
Not really sure where your nextturn is.
That's the benefit of workingwith a skilled provider and
really investing the time andfinances and energy into
understanding your body.
Because then whenever you walkaway from working with me, you
graduate.
You have a clear understandingof your owner's manual for your

(09:00):
body.
You know how you respond todifferent things.
You know what, who the playerstypically are.
If you start to have gutsymptoms and how to manage them,
instead of feeling hopeless orfeeling like you have to start
over, you have confidence andclarity in your own body and how
to navigate that.
And that's life changing youguys.
That's.
life changing.

(09:21):
So that's the second thing.
So first of all, you don't knowif it's going to work.
You don't know if it's going towork.
You're throwing dark darts,blindfolded at a balloon that
you don't even know where it isor what the balloon is.
Maybe you'll get likely lucky.
Maybe you won't.
The second one is it's only onepart of gut healing.
I've done this for so long.
I see.

(09:42):
It's so comprehensive.
I always, you guys probably gettired of me saying our bodies
are systems of systems and just.
You know, targeting what's goingon in your gut at a microbial
level is not enough to heal yourgut long term and provide long
term symptom relief and truehealing.
And then third, do you reallyknow what is in the supplements?

(10:06):
Is it the quality that you thinkyou're going to be getting?
Is it safe to take?
Is it going to interact with amedication that you're on?
Is it going to make you feelsick?
Is it going to cause more harmthan good?
You don't really know.
You know, I think a lot of thetime people think that just
because something is natural,that it's safe.

(10:28):
And that's not the case.
Many poisons are from plants,right?
You need to know what you'redoing.
You need to really understandwhat's in the supplements.
Is it something that can makeyou feel worse?
Is it something that caninteract with the medication?
And like I said before, on thatfirst point that I made, if you
don't really know what the issueis, You can't really answer if

(10:48):
that supplement is safe for youto take or not, or if it's going
to make something worse.
And then just speaking toquality for a minute supplement
quality in the U.
S.
is really, really unregulated.
And so what a company might sayis in a product.
May not actually be in theproduct at that level.
So you know, is the dose of theactive ingredient actually even

(11:13):
effective to what it says it'ssupposed to do?
You don't know, like, unlessit's a really great company that
is testing every single batch ofproduct that they're making,
which most aren't you don'treally know.
Are there contaminants in therelike heavy metals or you know,
other things like that?
Possibly there's actually areally good chance that there

(11:34):
could be some mold orcontaminants like heavy metals
in a supplement because they'renot really well regulated and
they're not testing every singlebatch and a lot of them are
using like co packers where theydon't fully own the
manufacturing process.
And so it's not highlycontrolled.
And so you're really justtrusting a marketing promise,

(11:55):
honestly, with the quality ofthe supplements and your health.
And so I just really challengeyou to think about these points
like.
Do you really want to trust amarketing product promise with
your, with your health?
You know, do you really want totrust a business who is selling
supplements without guidancewith your health?

(12:16):
Do you feel like that's reallygoing to provide the answers and
long term relief that you'reseeking?
You know maybe it will, maybeyou'll get lucky, but honestly.
I don't hear it often.
I don't hear it often.
It's, I've just been doing itfor so long.
And just knowing that what helpsmy clients and what all goes
into that, the ones who trulysee huge symptom improvement and

(12:39):
huge long term successes andlong term changes in their
health.
I just don't buy it.
I just don't think that justtaking some supplements is going
to do it for you.
So those are my two cents.
I think that what you needinstead is a comprehensive plan.

supplement protocol that I foundonline and you feel like I've
made some really valid pointstoday.
