Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello and welcome back to another episode of the
Nurse's Break Room with JennyLytle RN.
Today we are going to focus onconfidence what makes you feel
amazing.
So last week we talked aboutthe things that light you up,
and my approach to self-care andto stress relief in general is
that it needs to be personalizedbecause it's not one size fits

(00:22):
all.
This week we are looking at thethings that make you feel great
, and it's very easy to focus onour shortcomings, to focus on
the things that we don't do well, but there are things that you
do well and that make you feelwonderful.
And so, knowing those type ofthings that make us feel

(00:43):
confident, that make us feelgood, those things that really
can make a difference when itcomes to stepping outside of our
comfort zone and doingsomething new or putting
ourselves out there a little bitmaybe asking for a raise,
asking for a promotion, lookingfor a new job, or something as
simple as just feeling able tospeak up for yourself and say no

(01:04):
something as simple as justfeeling able to speak up for
yourself and say no those areall things that really are
really important skills to have, but sometimes we lack the
confidence to do much about that.
One of the things that Irecommend that my clients do is
start a win file.
We automatically keep track ofthose things that somebody says

(01:25):
that feels like a put-down orsome criticism that we get, or,
of course, we have thoseconstant negative voices going
in our head and it's easy tofocus on those things when we
didn't show up the way we wantedto in a particular situation.
The wins file helps us to beable to see clearly and
reference easily the things thathave gone, the accomplishments

(01:48):
that we do have, and these don'thave to be from other people
either.
You can jot things down.
If you know that you didsomething great and it may not
be anything that anybody elsewould recognize and it doesn't
have to be a big thing to be abig deal so maybe it's a fear or
an insecurity that you overcameThen that's absolutely

(02:10):
something that could go rightinto the wins file and it
doesn't have to be shared withanybody else if you choose for
it not to be.
It's just a great way to seesome of the amazingness that is
you, a great way to see some ofthe amazingness that is you.
And so looking at maybe emailsor cards, certificates, things

(02:30):
like that letters, any kind ofawards or your letters of
recommendation that you'vegotten from people.
There's really no limit to whattypes of things can be included
in here, but it's just overallfocusing on those things that
really perk us up and it soundssimplistic, but it's something
that has helped me and some ofmy clients so much when we're

(02:54):
getting ready to do somethingthat's a bit scary or when we're
just having those down days.
And when I was in the middle ofwriting my book, I really
started getting a lot ofimposter syndrome and worrying
about is this good enough?
Is this going to make adifference?
Is this just stupid that I'mwriting this honestly?

(03:15):
And when I looked back, some ofthe things that I keep in my
wins file, which are some of myclient testimonials and things
like that, and I thought youknow what I really have made a
difference in some people'slives, and it's not about being
everything to everybody.
It's about realizing that wecan make a difference and those

(03:39):
things give us the continuedconfidence to keep stepping out
in faith and taking those littlechances.
That's why I encourage you tostart your own wins file and you
can do it digitally or on paper.
I have two versions going, whereI have some cards and things
like that handwritten thingsthat are in together, and then I

(04:01):
also have a Google Doc andfolder that has electronic type
things in it, and I like thattoo, because I'm able to access
that on the go easily andwhenever I need a little boost,
and so I encourage you to do thesame, and I would love it if
you would just click the littlebutton above the podcast or
below the podcast, depending onwhich one you're listening to,

(04:24):
and there's a button where youcan text me, and I would love to
hear about what you, what youhave in your wins file or if you
started a wins file.
Next week, we are going to befocused on the topic of only you
and how you can maximize yourimpact with your unique set of
gifts, strengths, desires, etc.

(04:44):
Can maximize your impact withyour unique set of gifts,
strengths, desires, etc.
And I look forward to talkingwith you then.
Until next time, remember, notonly is self-care not selfish,
it's essential if we want tocontinue to care for others and
live our best lives.
