(00:00):
your to-do list has 47 things onit.
You are overwhelmed, spinningyour wheels, and by the end of
the day, you've somehow beenbusy all day, but accomplish
nothing that matters.
Sound familiar?
Definitely relatable to me.
The problem is not your timemanagement.
You have a trying to doeverything problem.

(00:21):
I'm gonna show you how theminimum viable day method
changes everything.
Hi, I'm Cindy Gordon, aself-made entrepreneur, busy mom
and execution coach.
I built and sold multipledigital businesses, and I'm the
founder of the GrowthCollective, a dollar a day
business support system whereentrepreneurs get weekly office

(00:42):
hours, actionable courses, and acommunity that understands what
it's like when your to-do listnever ends.
What I've learned is that theanswer to overwhelm isn't being
better at time management.
It's truly radicalsimplification.
Before we dive in, if you arenot getting my weekly
productivity tips yet, grab themusing the link in the show

(01:03):
notes.
They are the behind the scenessystems that I use to stay
productive while running andgrowing my business.
So I'm gonna show you how tosimplify your overwhelm down to
just three essential tasks perday using the minimum viable day
method.
This challenge surfacesrepeatedly with the
entrepreneurs in my programs.

(01:25):
You wake up with an impossibleto-do list.
Every single thing feelsimportant, so every single thing
feels urgent.
So you work frantically all daychecking off small tasks.
Responding to every message, putting out fires, and at the
end of the day, the work thatactually matters, it didn't get
done.

(01:45):
So Here's what's reallyhappening.
You are not struggling toprioritize when overwhelmed
because you're bad at timemanagement.
You are actually strugglingbecause you are trying to do.
Everything and your brainliterally shuts down when the
list is too long.
That's when decision fatiguesets in, that overwhelm

(02:05):
paralyzes you, and instead ofmaking strategic choices about
what matters, you default towhatever's easiest, loudest, or
right in front of you.
Meanwhile, the essential work, the stuff that actually moves
your business forward, you knowthe needle movers that sits
untouched on your list when youare trying to figure out how to

(02:27):
prioritize.
When overwhelmed, most advicetells you to work smarter, be
more efficient, but that's notthe full problem.
When your to-do list is toolong, your mind perceives every
task as equally urgent becauseyou're in survival mode.
There's no mental energy leftfor strategic thinking about
what actually matters versuswhat just keeps you busy.

(02:49):
This is why you can beproductive all day long and
still feel like you'veaccomplished nothing.
You did accomplish things.
They just weren't the essentialthings.
You organized your desk.
Instead of finishing the clientproposal, you responded to every
email in your inbox.
Instead of working on therevenue generating project, you
completed 10 small tasks insteadof the one big thing that moves

(03:13):
the needle.
So doing less with focusactually accomplishes more than
doing more with overwhelm.
Good enough progress onessential beats, perfect
execution on everything.
So how do you actually simplifydaily tasks when everything
feels important?
So this is where the minimumviable day comes in.

(03:34):
Here's what I want you to try.
Borrow a concept from thestartup world.
You've probably heard of aminimum viable product, the
simplest version that stillworks.
I'm applying that same thinkingto your daily productivity.
So what's your minimum viableday?
Start with this question.
If you could only accomplishthree things today, what would

(03:55):
actually matter?
So not what feels urgent, notwhat's screaming the loudest,
what would genuinely move yourbusiness or your life forward?
Then here's the filter.
Does this task move me forwardor does it just keep me busy?
The client deliverable.
Yes, it moves you forward.
Reorganizing your email foldersfor the third time.

(04:17):
That's busy work.
Here's what makes this a gamechanger.
Everything past those threeitems is a bonus.
You're giving yourselfpermission to let the
non-essentials wait.
Your minimum viable day is thosethree essential tasks.
Anything beyond that, great.
But it's not required for yourday to be successful.
So what would happen if thattask didn't get done today?

(04:39):
If the answer is nothingcatastrophic, then it's not
essential.
It can wait.
When resistance shows up, it'sbecause your brain is trained to
equate busy with productive.
You need to remind yourself thatthe minimum viable day isn't
about being lazy.
It's about being strategic.
Doing less with intention beatsmore reactivity To build this

(05:01):
into your routine, start everymorning by identifying your
three essential tasks before youlook at your email, before you
check your messages, beforeeverything hijacks your focus.
Write'em down, make'em visible.
These are your mvd.
The most common obstacle I hearis, but everything is essential.
I just can't let things wait.

(05:23):
When everything feels important,reality check.
What moves your business forwardversus what is just keeping you
busy.
Is it revenue generating work?
Yes.
Then it's essential.
Inbox zero is your goal.
Not essential clientdeliverable.
Yes.
Essential color coding.
Your project management system?
Nope.
Not essential.

(05:43):
Inside the Growth Collective, weoften work through things just
like this minimal viable dayplanning because this type of
mind shift from doing it all todoing what matters is one of the
hardest things to do as abusiness owner, but is
literally.
One of the most valuable changesthat you can make as an

(06:04):
entrepreneur to maintainmomentum, celebrate your most
viable day completions.
Even if nothing else got done, you completed your three
essential tasks for the day, andthat is a success.
Everything else is a bonus.
When everything on your listfeels important and you're
completely overwhelmed, take amoment, pause and reality Check

(06:26):
yourself about what actuallyneeds to happen today.
The minimum viable day isn'tabout doing less because you're
lazy.
It's about doing less withintention.
Because strategic focus beatsreactive busyness every single
time.
Doing less strategicallyaccomplishes more than doing
more reactively.

(06:47):
Here's your challenge right now.
Identify three essential tasksfor tomorrow.
Okay.
Not your entire to-do list, justfor your most viable day
activities.
Those three things that if theyhappen, make tomorrow successful
regardless of what else getsdone or doesn't get done.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
