Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, party people.
Welcome back to the cardiologyexperience.
You're here today with Marcusand Emma, and we're talking all
things to do with them aswedding, um, which I'm not sure
if she's getting bored with youor not.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Here we go.
We're talking today in today'spodcast, we're talking about
florals and, uh, most bridesflowers are pretty, pretty
important.
Aren't they like, they're prettypretty.

(00:22):
Um, and you know, whether youjust have a simple selection of
flowers for the ceremony asbouquets, you know, in guys
suits flowers, usually in thecolor or something like that,
um, whether you going, or youcan go all out and have major
installations, which a lot ofpeople are doing these days.
So it just depends again on howimportant flowers are to you.

(00:46):
Uh, but, uh, yeah, most peopleusually have some form of
flowers.
Uh, Emma, where are you in yourplanning of flowers and florists
and, and research and stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
So I pretty much got this down, Pat, this part.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
So is this important to you?
Flowers?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Eddie is, um, I think flowers really do add to the J I
think there's a point where youdon't want to go over the top,
but I think it really does add,you know, you definitely need to
have all your main things likeyour brocades and all those sort
of things and the arch andeverything like that, but I've
done a full so for my poorflorists, I sent her, which she
probably loves me for doing it.
I sent her a four pagespreadsheet of what I was

(01:20):
wanting.
So of course you go ontoPinterest and you pin every
single thing that you liked.
So I've got an idea on how Iwant the whole thing to look,
but saying that I've also givenher free range that I haven't
given her particular flowers.
I want to use.
I've just sent her photos ofwhat I like.
And then she'll just pick what'sin season.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah.
So obviously you've told her, um, style and where it is and all
that sort of stuff.
So then she can work withbasically what you've sent her
and what's available, I guess, for the time of the year.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
There's a fine line, I think with florists and any
supply, I think you also need totrust them that this is what
they do as a job and that theyknow how to do this well.
So I've sort of left it in thepoint of going, this is sort of
where I'm thinking, this is whatI lock, but you also do what you
think is best.
And what you think is going tolook like beautiful, because
it's something that I got, Ilove that, but she might add
something else and be like, Oh,well, that's even better than
what I thought it was going tobe.
So there's a degree of I'vegiven her designs, but I really

(02:09):
want her to do whatever shethinks is going to be better
than what I've posted, like puton the actual PDF.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So the big question these days, and it's a big
consideration and I'm sure, uh,can see it a lot more now is
fresh or fake.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
So we'll do both.
I think, um, most of it will befresh as well.
The bouquets will be fresh.
The arch, um, we'll do someposes on the cocktail tables
cause we're having a cocktailwedding.
We'll also do some florals onthe grazing table.
Um, the boys will have theirbutton holes, which will be
fresh.
So they will be quite a lot ofelements that will be fresh, but
we'll also use an element causewe're doing tropical.

(02:44):
There'll be lots of like plantsand leaves and sort of stuff
like that, which we'll use fakebecause all those fake looked
quite real and we have them allavailable to you.
So yeah, most of those things, but yeah, there'll be a mix.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah.
And I guess in today's, youknow, with fake flowers and
stuff, they look so real.
So a lot of brides are doing allfake and I've read lots of
articles on wedding flowers andthey're saying, Oh, you
shouldn't do all fake.
You should do either do amixture of both or fresh, but I
can tell you now, and you know,as a hire, we hire it, we've got
fake flowers and plants thatsome of them, you just cannot

(03:17):
tell the difference you can ifyou touch them in up close or in
photos and stuff like that.
And if it's just visualstimulation that that's what
you're going for.
And you want a big impact thenfake is, is sort of super poppy.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Well, I think as we always talk about the five
senses, like he wouldn't alsohave flowers for smell as well
because they do smell absolutelybeautiful on the day as well.
So I think definitely have amix.
I don't think you need to do allwell, I guess it depends on what
your budget is as well.
Not that I'm saying fake ischeaper.
Cause sometimes fake is theleast expensive, but you get to
keep it or you resell it.
So

Speaker 1 (03:48):
If you're buying them yourself,

Speaker 2 (03:51):
You can hire fake as well.
So there's higher and, and thereis also, you can purchase them
as well.
So there's lots of differentoptions, but I think a mixture
of both is always good.
I don't think just have allfake.
I would definitely have somereal.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Yeah.
So you've obviously booked aflorist.
Who's your florist?

Speaker 2 (04:05):
My Flores is not from Foxy evergreen.
And we actually use that for alot of our functions here at
feel-good events.
Um, I love Nash.
She is more of a friend than sheis a supplier.
We, she comes here and pick somethings up on for two hours.
I'm in the car park talking toher about everything in life.
So it is really nice pickingpeople that are your friends and
that you feel like he can trust.

(04:25):
And I know that she'll do agreat job.
She's done multiple things like, you know, she got some flowers
for my mom for mother's day andshe's done lots of other little
things for me, corporates eventsfor us and all that sort of
thing.
So I know her works amazing.
So I trust her a hundred percentand I don't even need to worry
about that component at all.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yep, yep.
Which does make a bigdifference.
Isn't it?
But, uh, you know, I guess foryou, you didn't even have to do
any research for flowers andyeah,

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I already knew, I told him that years ago when I
was like, when I get married, you'll be doing, you'll be ready
,

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Which makes life a lot easier.
Doesn't it?
And so who will you be usingflowers for lucky having them
for the bridesmaids and stufflike that, or no flowers for
them

Speaker 2 (05:02):
And we'll be doing, um, would make sure they all
match.
So I'll have my broker, whichwould probably be the largest.
And then all three bridesmaidswe'll have a smaller vision.
And then my two minibridesmaids, which are my
cousins will have even miniversions.
So they're all sort of tyingquite well.
Um, and they'll all look thesame sort of my, I might have
some bigger flowers in the most, something different that makes
months different.
Everyone else's, that willmatch.

(05:22):
They, they'll also sort ofsomewhat matched to the flowers
that will also be on the archbehind us.
And then I'm not quite quitesure what we'll do for the
buttonholes for the boys, but,um, I'm sure that Nat can work
that out and pick a flower thatworks with them.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yep.
Yep.
And so in regards to ceremony, are you planning a lot of
flowers for the ceremony or justsomething more simple?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Really simple.
I don't want to go crazy too outbecause I think you're there for
half an hour and then you moveinto the room and you just lose
all that unless you're movingit.
Yeah.
We're hoping, hopefully going tomove our arch into the room if
we can.
So we will reuse whateverflowers are on there, but we
won't be doing anything.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Yep.
And have you already worked outin the venue, certain spots,
you're going to set up the flat, like have flowers or just see
what works on the day or

Speaker 2 (06:03):
We actually have to have six to eight bar tables.
We'd like a small little, likelittle bunch of flowers on them
that will match all the otherflowers, just so that everything
has, and it's all sort of flows.
I'll have flowers on the bar tomake sure that it all ties in as
well.
We'll have flowers on thegrazing table and then probably
the cake table.
I'm not a hundred percent surewhere else there'll be other
spots.
I think that I'll probably thinkof once we do the full layout of

(06:24):
the room and I work at Westspots and missing or if I need
additional things we'll can weadd extras, but we might tie it
in like flowers, flowers, andleaves that we have here at feel
good events or we'll work thatout, but they will be, it will
flow throughout.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
And so you said you're obviously using flowers
for decoration or using plantsand anything else as well, or
yeah,

Speaker 2 (06:43):
So plants and leaves.
So if being tropical, you needit to be really green jungle and
Marcus loves plants.
So we have hundreds of plantshere feel good events.
So we'll be definitely usingmost of our plants and that sort
of thing to really sort of getthis, to actually add it into
that room, the room it's not,it's quite plain, really there
isn't crazy amounts of thingsthat have going on so I can do
whatever I liked.

(07:04):
So I'll be putting sort of,there's a couple of posts, so
maybe some plants and stuffaround those.
And in spots,

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Would you be upset if it looked like a tropical rain
for us when you walked in or

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Depends on how crazy you go with it, as long as
there's some flowers?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Well, I have a few live monkeys and parrots.
Yeah.
There's nothing wrong with that.
And uh, have you chosen backupflowers for your wedding?
As you know, sometimes flowersare seasonal and not all flowers
are available at certain timesof the year.
You're getting married in March.
So hopefully the flowers thatyou want, but have you got back

(07:38):
up or you just really lettingyour florist have full reign on
what sort of flowers?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I don't have any backups.
I'm just basically whatever shethinks is going to be in season
will be what we have and fix memy part.
Um, I also, yeah, I haven't goneto her and said, I want these
five particular flowers andthat's all I want.
It's not really a state.
God.
I know I have no idea whenthings are in season when
they're not.
So she'll basically pick what Ican get in that time.

(08:03):
And of course, if they're not inseason, you can get them, but
they come from overseas andthey're four or five tops.
So you've also have that in yourbrain.
That piece is going to be reallyexpensive.
If you have a particular flower, you have to have

Speaker 1 (08:14):
And that's yeah.
That's where it does getexpensive.
If you only want certainflowers, I guess it's more for
the color scheme then you're,you're going for then like
necessarily the type of flower.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
More color scheme than anything else.
Just having those pops of colorand that sort of thing.
I don't know how colorful itwill be at the moment.
We'll see how we go.
Yeah.
BJ is not overly keen on thereally hot the colors, but I
think they will look awesome.
So we'll see how we go.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah.
Okay.
So it sounds like your floristis one of the things that you've
really done a bit more work on,obviously pretty important to
you.
You've sort of done more work in, in, in booked things in, um,

Speaker 2 (08:49):
He hasn't even quoted me for it yet, but I've just
told her how much my budget is.
And she'll say I will stay withsort of within that.
And I think she'll just, she'lldo whatever she wants.
So it's still a bit moreplanning to do, but of course,
but yeah, I just need to pay hersome money and then we're good
to go and hopefully it'll lookgood.
Yeah.
I trust it,

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Which I'm sure it will.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, thanks Emma, for talkingabout florists and flowers today
, uh, we've got lots moreexciting things coming in future
podcasts.
So stay tuned.
Thanks for listening.
And thanks Emma, for all yourinput, uh, regarding your
wedding.
Thanks.
