The transformative power of small steps forward lies at the heart of the Plus One Theory—a approach to personal growth that champions resilience and incremental progress. Whether you're feeling stuck, defeated, or simply uncertain about your next move, this philosophy offers a refreshing alternative to drastic overnight change programs that often lead to burnout and disappointment.

We explore the fascinating connection between visualization, manifestation, and concrete action. While many of us remain unconsciously tethered to limiting beliefs formed in childhood, the Plus One Theory provides a pathway to rewrite those narratives. As Charles Coulter wisely noted, "We are still listening to the seven-year-old child inside of us." This episode tackles how to break free from that cycle through intentional visualization and strategic next steps.

The distinction between happiness and joy serves as a crucial foundation for understanding sustainable personal transformation. Happiness depends on external circumstances and inevitably fluctuates, while joy—the true fuel behind the Plus One Theory—comes from within. This internal wellspring of motivation powers us through difficult moments and helps us take that crucial "one more step" when we feel we have nothing left to give. Through real-life examples of manifestation in action—from dental health transformations to unexpected career pivots—we see how combining clear visualization with consistent small actions creates unstoppable momentum toward our goals. Ready to rewrite your story? Join our community and dive into our new Chapter Chatter Book Club where we'll continue exploring the principles that help us all move forward, one meaningful step at a time.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hi friends, welcome back to the Plus One Theory
podcast.
If you're new here, let mequickly introduce what the Plus
One Theory is all about.
The Plus One Theory is simple, yet life-changing.
It's the belief that, no matterwhere you are in life, no
matter how exhausted, defeatedor stuck you feel, there is

(00:26):
always one more step you cantake.
That extra effort, whether it'sone more act of kindness, one
more deep breath or one moremoment of pushing through,
creates momentum and ultimatelytransforms your life.
Unlike rigid self-improvementmodels that demand drastic
changes overnight, the plus onetheory is about small,

(00:49):
intentional steps that add upover time.
It's about resilience, growthand knowing that even when you
think you have nothing left, youalways have something extra
within you to push forward.
Before we dive into today'stopic, I want to take a moment
to share something important.
I am not a doctor, therapist ormental health professional.

(01:10):
What I share here is based onmy own life experiences, lessons
learned and the mindset shiftsthat have helped me move forward
.
I encourage you to take whatresonates, leave what doesn't,
and always seek professionalguidance when needed.
Now let's get into today'sepisode.
Hi friends, welcome back to thePlus One Theory podcast.

(01:32):
I'm Pam and today we're divinginto something incredibly
powerful.
Visualization and manifestationand how they are directly
connected to the plus one theory, the way we see ourselves, the
stories we tell ourselves andwhat we believe about our future
shape every aspect of our lives.
Last week, we had an amazingconversation with Charles

(01:55):
Coulter and something he saidreally stuck with me.
We are still listening to theseven-year-old child inside of
us.
Think about that for a second.
Today, we're going to talkabout how to break that cycle,
how visualizing our goals andfuture helps us to take control
of our narrative, and howmanifestation is more than just
wishful thinking.

(02:15):
I've listened to severalpodcasts this week and every
single one has been talkingabout manifestation and
visualization.
It's been a message placed onmy heart because if I had only
known about this as a youngadult, so many bad choices would
have never happened.
However, I am thankful for mypast.

(02:36):
Don't get me wrong.
It gave me the life experienceto share with all of you and
reinforce something I trulybelieve Every day offers an
opportunity to take one morestep toward the life we want, so
let's get into it.
Have you ever thought about thethings you believed about
yourself as a kid?
Maybe you thought you weren'tsmart enough, not good enough,

(02:58):
not lovable enough.
Maybe someone made a hurtfulcomment that stuck with you for
years and you still believe itdeep down.
But just because we oncebelieved something doesn't mean
it's true today.
One of the biggest barriers togrowth is holding on to outdated
beliefs.
These beliefs keep us stuck infear and doubt, but the plus one

(03:18):
theory teaches us that growthhappens one step beyond fear.
Let's pause and talk aboutsomething critical the
difference between joy andhappiness.
Happiness is external.
It's based on circumstances.
You get a promotion, buy a newhouse or go on vacation.
Those things bring happiness, but happiness is fleeting

(03:40):
because it depends on thingsoutside of our control.
Joy, on the other hand, isinternal.
It's cultivated within us.
It's the fuel behind the plusone theory, that fire that keeps
us going even when life istough.
This is why you see people whoseem to have it all money, power
, success but they're stillmiserable.

(04:01):
Let me share somemanifestations in my life.
Before I even knew that wordexisted, these were my plus-one
moments, steps I took before Iknew how powerful they were.
I had horrible teeth from achildhood of non-existent dental
care.
Where I grew up, people oftenjust waited in pain until their
teeth were pulled.

(04:21):
I hated to smile because of howcrooked and unhealthy my teeth
were.
I so I started researching howto fix them.
I enrolled in a certifieddental assisting college and
once I received mycertifications, I started a
career in the dental world.
My bosses were dentists, sothey fixed my teeth for free.

(04:42):
Then there was my first job intech.
I was working in a support roleanswering phones when a field
tech asked for my help.
He put me in a room full ofcomputers that needed repairs.
I told him I had never workedon a computer in my life, but he
showed me how to fix one andthen told me to figure out the
rest on my own.

(05:03):
I never imagined myself workingon computers, but by taking one
more step I figured it out.
That skill led to my next bigcareer move.
Each of these moments happenedbecause I visualized a better
future and instead of stoppingat the first hurdle, I took the
next step.

(05:23):
That's the plus one theory inaction.
The plus one theory andmanifestation share a powerful
connection.
Manifestation is aboutbelieving in your future self
and attracting the reality youdesire, while the Plus One
Theory is about taking action, one step at a time, to turn that
belief into reality.

(05:44):
Neuroscientific studies haveshown that when we vividly
imagine an action, our brainsactivate similar regions as when
we physically perform thataction.
This phenomenon, calledfunctional equivalence, means
the brain treats imaginedactions almost like real ones.
This is why athletes, performers and leaders use

(06:06):
visualization techniques.
It literally trains the brainto succeed.
But where manifestation relieson belief and intention, the
plus one theory ensures progressthrough action.
So let's compare the aspects ofthe plus one theory versus the
manifestation.
So the core idea of the plusone theory is taking one more

(06:27):
step beyond perceived limitsVersus manifestation, the core
idea is attracting desiredoutcomes through belief and
intention.
The focus of the plus onetheory is small, continuous
actions Versus manifestation, which is the visualization and
belief shaping reality.
The driving force behind theplus one theory is internal

(06:51):
resilience, pushing throughstruggle, and the driving force
of manifestation is alignmentwith universal energy or like
laws of attraction.
The application of the plus onetheory helps, in moments of
exhaustion, fear or doubt, finding the will to keep going.
The application of manifestationfocuses on seeing, feeling and

(07:14):
believing in success before ithappens, and the outcome of the
plus one theory is progress, nomatter how small, leads to
long-term success Versusmanifestation.
The outcome is clarity anddirection in achieving goals
through belief and intention.
The best way to use both is tovisualize where you want to be

(07:37):
that's manifestation, by the wayand then take the next
actionable step and that's theplus one theory toward making it
happen.
Here's an example If youvisualize yourself as a
confident public speaker, that'smanifestation.
The next step might be signingup for a speaking course or
practicing in front of friends.

(07:59):
That is the plus one step.
Also, here's another one If youdream of a healthier body,
manifestation can set the vision, but the plus one theory makes
you take that first walk.
Set the vision, but the plusone theory makes you take that
first walk, then the next, thenthe next.
This is why athletes, performers and leaders use
visualization techniques.

(08:19):
It literally trains the brainto succeed.
And if we pair visualizationwith the plus one mindset taking
one tangible step toward thatvision we create an unstoppable
momentum.
You are not the same person youwere as a child.
You have the power to rewriteyour story, visualize a new

(08:40):
future and take the next step tomanifest it into reality.
So this week I want you to trythis Write down one belief
you've carried since childhoodthat no longer serves you.
Also visualize yourself 10years from now, who you are,
what you're doing, how you feel.
Take one small action todaythat aligns with that future.
Remember, happiness istemporary, but joy is something

(09:05):
you create within yourself.
Temporary, but joy is somethingyou create within yourself, and
that joy fuels your next step.
