Speaker 1 (00:00):
So we made a few pretty big decisions around here
at Profit Media in the last fewmonths and I think that you've
noticed, because we have gottenemails and kind of like
questions around like, hey, wenoticed you've changed some
tools and your platforms haveswitched.
Why did you do it?

(00:22):
And actually I'm going to givea shout out to Kathy.
So Kathy is one of ourcommunity members and she hosts
the Caregiver Cup podcast andshe specifically reached out to
me and was like hey, um, wenoticed that you switched over
to Mighty Networks from Kajabiand I kind of want to know, like

(00:43):
, why?
Like what's actually happeningthere?
Is there a specific reason?
Was it priced?
And I told her I was like, ooh,let me brainstorm on this and
then I'll dive into the detailsfurther, which is exactly what
we're doing today, and I'm goingto go through not only why we
switched and what happened, butalso I'm going to answer some of

(01:06):
Kathy's specific questions overlike well, what are some of the
benefits that you're seeing?
And she personally uses Kajabiherself.
So she's wondering like, what'sthe transition time?
Like what does that actuallylook like?
And then, is it user-friendly,customer support, all the things
right?
She had so many questions andso, kathy, this episode is
dedicated to you.
Thank you so much for askingthese questions, because I think

(01:28):
that many people have thesequestions and considerations
whenever they're switchingplatforms or considering
thinking about going somewhereelse to be more budget conscious
or to have a better supportsystem for their students or
their members.
And I'm really excited to divein because I've been thinking
about this episode for a longtime and we're going to get into

(01:49):
the nitty gritty on why Iswitched from Kajabi to Mighty
Networks.
So let's get right to it.
Welcome to the Profit Podcast, where we teach you how to start,
launch and market your contentwith confidence.
I'm your host, crystal Prof.
Prophet, and I'm so excitedthat you're here.
Thanks for hanging out with metoday, because if you've been
trying to figure out the worldof content creation, this is the

(02:11):
show that will help be yourtime-saving shortcut.
So let's get right to it.
Shall we Welcome back toanother episode?
If we have not met before?
Hello, I am Crystal Prophet, Iam your podcast coach and
content strategist, and thisepisode, like I said at the
introduction, has been a longtime coming because I've been

(02:33):
playing around with MightyNetworks and trying to decide
for myself like was this theright move, right?
Like we get a little nervouswhen we make those decisions.
It's like um, did I make theright call?
And I can tell you, before weeven dive into answering Kathy's
questions or getting into thedetails of everything.
Yes, yes and yes, and I'll justtell you high level why I truly

(02:57):
believe so.
For the first time in my entirelike coach journey, like working
with people one-on-one, havingdigital products, I am actually
in conversations with my people, with my customers, people that
have invested with me, evenpeople that haven't invested
with me.
We have a free membership it'scalled Podcasters Connect that

(03:21):
people can join for free andnever have to pay us a dime.
Then we also have the premiumversion for our VIP members that
want monthly coaching or theywant to pay in full and then
have some of the benefits of ourannual members, and so I'm in
real conversation every singleday.
Every single day.

(03:42):
This was the thing that I wasreally missing by having Kajabi.
Sure we could have commentsunderneath the different lessons
inside my program ProfitPodcasting, or people could send
me an email.
They could reach out that way,but this actually feels like
real-time exchanges with peoplethat I just did not realize how

(04:03):
much I was missing that, becausethe big thing and I'll get into
like the actual details issocial media is so distracting
for me.
I love a Facebook group, butalso I tiptoe into Facebook like
, okay, I'm only gonna go tothis one Facebook group and then
I'm gonna get out of there, andit's just too distracting.

(04:24):
There's way too many things.
Like you know people I went tohigh school with pop up in my
feed and I'm like, oh, what'sgoing on in their lives?
Or one of my cousins postssomething like it's just not
what that connection is reallyfor.
So I have to and I've actuallyheard from several of my
students is that's the samething happens to them.
It's like there's a squirrel,squirrel, squirrel.

(04:45):
Too many things going on.
But in our Mighty Networkscommunity we're able to have
real conversations about what wecame together for and that's
podcasting.
So that's the big like in anutshell.
If you'd like, hit pause, don'thear anything else in this
entire episode today.
Those are my big takeaways, butI do want to get into some of

(05:05):
Kathy's specific questions andI've kind of, you know, zhuzhed
them up a little bit to reallyapply to an even broader
audience.
So the first one is why.
Why did we move?
Well, there was a few thingsthat really wasn't working with
Kajabi, that we were hittingsome clear pain points, like
very specific things, and someof them were the limited

(05:26):
community building features.
So Kajabi itself has platform, like it has communities, but it
just didn't work well.
It's like it was separated,it's like segmented out.
It's like, oh, you can buildthis community and this
community is a thing and it kindof operates like a Facebook
group, but it's not integratedinto the same screen.

(05:46):
The user experience wasn't justI could log in one place and,
boom, everything that I ownedfrom this one company was like
right there.
It was like, oh no, here's allof your products.
But then also, you got to login here, you got to do this
thing and then you got to gohere and it's like it was too
complicated for me myself as auser that I never used anyone's

(06:07):
Kajabi community.
So I have attended events likeCraft Commerce last year, and
this is when I actually usedMighty Networks as a user.
I was really aware of thecompany.
I also met Gina, so she'sactually the founder of Mighty
Networks.
I met her at Craft and Commercein 2024.

(06:28):
And I was super intrigued by,like, all the cool things that
she's doing and I just got likeokay, like this is cool, I like
this.
This is different.
It's made for events, like, butI never even thought about
using it for products.
I didn't think it was acompetitor to Kajabi.
But again, going back to thecommunity aspect, they focus on
that so much and that'ssomething that I was missing in

(06:51):
being a Kajabi user.
Let me preface all of this tosay I've used Kajabi since 2019.
And I mean, I've been a userfor a long time.
I've been a customer for areally long time and I've used
it in other capacities.
So the other thing that I wasreally limited on are the
engagement pieces.

(07:11):
So, with Mighty Networks, theyrecently rolled out it's like
they're gamifying things and Ithink this is super fun.
You can actually log in and youcan see like oh, I have a 17
day streak of logging into thisplatform and I just think that's
really fun, because people arelike oh, I have a 17-day streak
of logging into this platformand I just think that's really
fun, because people are like, oh, that's cool.
It's kind of like Duolingoright, y'all have seen like the

(07:32):
streaks that you can get onDuolingo.
My son was doing Spanishforever and he was like mom, I
just got to do it every day, every day he's got to get that
like little ping, like ding, youknow, and it's like, okay, look
, I hit my streak.
I just did a little bit today, but at least I got my streak,
like I'm keeping it going.
So I think that that is reallyfun to have that engagement,
interaction tools, and that'ssomething that I didn't have.
On Kajabi.

(07:53):
The other one is feeling likeeverything was just super
separated and siloed and notintegrated.
So this was another big piecefor me.
I felt like it was a littledisjointed in how Kajabi had
everything set up and again,it's just, yeah, it just
wouldn't work for what we wereplanning to do with Podcasters,
connect and the way that we haveit set up today.

(08:15):
I'm really happy for it.
So where I saw opportunitieswith Mighty Networks, where
Kajabi really didn't just fillthat need for me, was the
collaboration piece being ableto log into one screen.
I can interact with my users, Ican actually see all the
products that I have.
So if I were a customer then Icould see like, okay, there's my

(08:38):
digital courses, my digitalproducts that I own for profit
media.
Oh, there's the communityaspect.
Oh, here's where I can submitfor a content audit.
Here's our group coaching.
It's just all integrated andnot so discombobulated and
disjointed, and that's one thingthat I know, that I've gotten
really good feedback from thecommunity members that they love

(08:58):
too.
The other piece is theengagement tools, again for
events.
There's group chats, there's afeed where we have all our fun
like gifs and memes that weshare, we can do polls and
questions, and it's just reallya fun way to be engaged again
about your topic.
So this is where it differsfrom like having Kajabi in a

(09:21):
Facebook group, because that'swhat I did have for a really,
really long time and thosethings weren't integrated
together.
The other piece is just a placeto streamline all the community
discussions and course contentto where I can say in Mighty
Networks hey, here's this onething about this specific topic
or this specific module, andhere's the link to it.

(09:42):
You could do that on Facebookand hope that all of it works.
But again, and here's the linkto it you could do that on
Facebook and hope that all of itworks, but again, they click on
that link and then they got togo somewhere else and they got
to make sure they're logged in.
It's just from a userexperience wasn't great.
So all of that to say that islike, in a nutshell, why we move
to Mighty Networks.
Now let's talk about thebenefits, so the big features

(10:03):
that we're using.
We're using the communitygroups I should I think I kind
of already said this already butPodcasters Connect is a
membership I also have like Imove all of my digital products,
everything over.
So I host every single thingthat we offer.
From the ultimate podcastlaunch toolkit.
We have one year of podcastcontent in one hour launch

(10:26):
toolkit.
We have one year of podcastcontent in one hour.
We have all of our from lowticket to high ticket offers,
like profit podcasting, to ourbonus offerings that we have for
affiliate programs.
Everything is in Mighty Networksand I love the simplicity of
having it there, because that'sone of the benefits.
They can house your cohortgroups.
It can house your digitalproducts, your courses, like

(10:46):
whatever you want to have inthere, which I think is really
awesome.
But you can also do live events, so you could host live events
and schedule that there.
So it's all native within theplatform.
It has a Zoom integration.
So whenever I do our monthlycoaching calls, I schedule
everything in Mighty Networksand, because it's connected to
Zoom, everything is allintegrated and hosted.

(11:10):
And this is the part that Ilove People can RSVP right in
the platform and then, wheneverit's time like we're going live,
it actually shows like a livebutton.
So if somebody's in there andthen your event starts, it's
like, oh wait, I can click onthat because it's live now.
So again, if you host eventsmaybe in-person events, or maybe
you're doing webinars, maybeyou're doing multi-day summits,

(11:32):
like any of those things itcould be really cool to have
everything segmented out in yourevents to use on Mighty
Networks.
So I'm just going to continueto sell them.
I know I should have said thisearlier.
I am a proud partner andaffiliate of Mighty Networks.
I was an affiliate for Kajabifor many, many years.
Now I'm an affiliate for MightyNetworks and you can go to

(11:53):
crystalprofitcom forward slashmighty to learn more.
But I am just really excitedabout all of this because the
integrations are awesome.
The communication with memberslike not just in the feeds but
direct messages, like I'm in theDMs all the time with my
members that just did not happenbecause let's be really honest,

(12:14):
right, if you had Kajabi andyou had Facebook, you had a
Facebook group, people sendingme DMs, like it almost felt like
a violation of, like, mypersonal bubble.
It really did, like when peopleyou send me a Facebook message
and I'm like, oh, I'm so sorry,like let's keep that at a
distance, that's like reservedfor it just gets awkward or it

(12:35):
gets lost in all of those randommessages that you get, right,
it like has all those messagerequests, like it just gets lost
in there.
And I feel bad whenever I goand I finally sift through them
and I see, oh my gosh, three ofmy students were trying to reach
out to me through FacebookMessenger and it's just, I don't
have to deal with any of thatanymore because I just say, hey,

(12:56):
send me a DM in Mighty Networksand it happens they send me a
DM and I get to them and I getback to someone within 24 hours
of them getting a message to me.
So it's pretty incredible thatwe can use that feature and have
that direct, open line ofcontact between our audience.
So that's one of the biggestones that I'm super excited

(13:17):
about.
But the other one is just someof the other differences between
the analytics that they have.
So Mighty Networks I like how Ican go into my Mighty Insights
and look at what's going on.
I can see how many members wehave, how active they are, if
they're chatting, if they'reengaging, if they're like

(13:37):
talking to each other and Ihaven't mentioned this yet and
I'm so excited because they makemy life so much easier.
They have so many AIintegrations that I was sold
whenever I saw all the ways itwas going to make my life easier
.
I could click a button and thenit can draft a whole like hey,

(14:00):
you want to create a course?
Here's a draft course.
Boom, it's done.
You want to create a courseLike here's a draft course.
Like, boom, it's done.
If you want to come up withquestions to, I believe it's
called like the unlimitedquestion asker or something.
I'll have to find out what theactual answer is, but it's like
they have come up with ideas foryou to ask engagement questions
to your community.
So it's just that additionallayer of support that allows you

(14:24):
to really really make thosedeeper connections, because they
want you to succeed.
And I even use the ChatGPTintegration for PeopleMagic.
So this is what Mighty Networkscalls like.
This is like their brandedversion of how they want you to
succeed.
You can go check out theirYouTube channel where it has

(14:46):
like a whole People Magic series.
I've watched it.
I've watched their freetrainings, I've watched their
webinars.
I already signed up for itbefore.
I watched all of these thingsand I was like, oh my gosh, it's
just additional things that wecan do to educate ourselves on
how to run successfulmemberships, and I'm actually
gonna link to I want you to gocheck out.
Gina did an interview withNathan Berry from KIT.

(15:09):
He's the founder of KIT,formerly ConvertKit, and they
did an incredible conversationabout memberships and how they
can be successful.
So definitely check out thatresource.
It's on YouTube, it's whereveryou listen to podcasts, and I
really want you to go check itout because it's again can help
you run a successful membershipor online business by focusing

(15:31):
on your people and again, that'slike the running theme today
being in conversation, realconversations with your
customers, not just fluffythings that you're talking about
on social media.
The other thing that I reallylove is it houses everything.
Again, we've already talkedabout this, but I have popular

(15:55):
content where I can tag it tothe front.
I have all of my monthly eventsthat we have.
We do content audits, we dogroup coaching, we do welcome
parties every single month.
So I can house all of thatthere.
I can house all of my coursesand all of my affiliate packages
for things like B-School TimeGenius.
Both are Marie Forleo'sprograms that I support and I'm

(16:19):
an affiliate for, so I haveexclusive bonuses for those
members.
So it's very, very easy for meas a host to host all of these
in one place, but also as acustomer, to have all of your
stuff, like you need one loginone time, remember it and then
that's all you have to have.
Okay, so let's talk abouttransition, because this is the

(16:40):
part that Kathy was like howlong did this take?
Okay, so let's talk abouttransition, because this is the
part that Kathy was like howlong did this take?
What was your plan?
And I have to tell you I am aproject manager.
Like I love an Asana, likebored, I love documenting things
on, like how this is going tobe executed, put timelines
together, work back from thefinish date, like all of those

(17:02):
things.
I love it.
So I want to just preface itwith that.
I'm a planner.
I am a planner to a fault.
So your transition, yourtimeline may look different, but
ever since I decided, okay, I'mgoing to switch from Kajabi to
Mighty Networks, I created whatwas a plan to be done by a

(17:24):
specific date because I did notwant to be paying for two
separate platforms.
Essentially, I wanted to haveone platform be fully
transitioned by this specificdate.
And then I worked back fromthere.
Okay, like, well, if we want tobe done by that and we want to
move all of our products, all ofour customers by that date,
what do we need to do?
I gave us about a 60-day windowto make all of that happen.

(17:48):
So there was a one-monthoverlap where I was paying for
both products.
But that's okay, I was totallyfine with just having that being
sunk cost.
That I would probably never getback.
That's okay because I knew inthe long run my customers would
be happier, I would be happierand it would probably never get
back.
That's okay because I knew inthe long run my customers would

(18:10):
be happier, I would be happierand it would make sense for me.
So I remember I selected a date, then I immediately
communicated that to my audience, because I believe
communication is key wheneveryou're doing any kind of big
transitions.
So if you are gonna migratefrom one platform to the next,
as soon as you know what's goingto happen, even if you don't
have that exact date, communicate it to your customers

(18:30):
and then communicate it againand then again and then one
final time whenever thatdeadline is really approaching,
because then they are morelikely to adopt it and actually
move over and migrate, and thenyou don't have this churn or
this fall off of customers thatjust kind of went into the abyss
and you never hear from themagain.

(18:50):
Another thing that I took intoconsideration is I exported
everything from Kajabi before Imade the move.
I think that a lot of peopledon't think about doing this,
but way before we were everready to transition over, I went
in.
I exported every single detailfrom my email list I had in
Kajabi, from all of mytransactions, and I'm so glad

(19:13):
that I did, because I still goback to that export from time to
time when people are like, hey,I haven't checked in in forever
.
I bought this program from youand I'm like, what do I do now?
What's supposed to happen?
So I go in, I triple check onthat Excel file that I have a
Google Sheet and I'm like, ohyeah, sure you did buy that

(19:34):
program Like here it is.
Here's how you log into MightyNetwork, so it's a lot easier on
the backend processes to makethat work and make it happen.
So whenever you're thinkingabout transitions, communication
is key.
As soon as you know the datethat you're going to transition,
work back from that.
But all in, I would say it wasabout a 60-day from when I

(19:56):
decided that it was going tohappen to having everyone
migrated over and shutting downKajabi.
You could essentially do thisin a weekend if you wanted to,
but I like giving people thatbreathing room to hey, change is
coming.
It gave me the opportunity tomigrate everything over I had.
Oh my goodness, now I'm reallygoing to catch myself.

(20:18):
I don't remember how many totaldigital products I had.
I had a lot in Kajabi.
Like I was almost maxed outwith the digital products that I
have.
I wanna say it was like 15.
Maybe that was because I hadsome free resources that I was
housing there that I wanted tohave, as like a free course for
different affiliate launchesthat I did.

(20:39):
So I deleted anything that Ididn't need and then I was like,
okay, which of these do I needto migrate over Because some of
them were old.
We need to do audits from timeto time of our content, see,
like, are we really using allthis?
Do we need all of this stuff?
Do we have to migrate it overor can we just say that was a
beautiful thing while it lasted.
Now it's gone.
Like somebody didn't downloadthat free resource from years

(21:02):
ago.
Too bad, that's on them.
You know that's sorry it's gone.
Paid customers different story.
And when people reach out to me, I'm like oh, yes, immediately
here's your link to log intoyour Mighty Networks product.
There you go.
But I will say like it wasreally easy and I reached out to
Mighty Networks support teammultiple times because it was a

(21:23):
brand new platform to me.
I was just like I don't knowwhat I'm doing, can you please
help me?
And they have so many greathelp articles.
They have YouTube videos andtheir customer service was so
responsive in helping me like,understand.
Like, oh, you need to do thisto create your plan list and
look at your member list andthis is how you need to set

(21:44):
things up.
So that was really helpful andI'm excited that I did it.
Like, again, no regrets.
So grateful that I did it.
Are there any challenges oropportunities?
Of course there's going to bethings that didn't go well
whenever you're doing these bigmigrations the one I just talked
about like I didn't know how touse, like it was brand new.

(22:05):
The learning curve was superfrustrating Anytime you're
learning something new.
Because I don't know abouty'all, I'm an Enneagram type
three, which is the overachiever.
I think it's even called theachiever, but I just call myself
the overachiever.
So I went into this thinkingI'm going to pick this up 24
hours to Hobbes.
How unrealistic is that?

(22:25):
No-transcript.
Do you think I had the wholething figured out in 24 hours?
No, no, I didn't.
I absolutely didn't.
But I did learn a lot reallyfast by being the one that set
things up.
I didn't have anyone on my teamgo in and set the whole thing
up.
I wanted to know how it worked.

(22:46):
That way I could really be anactive participant in it.
Do I plan to have someonemanage the thing in the future?
Absolutely, absolutely.
And to have someone manage thething like in the future,
absolutely, absolutely.
There's things from a customersupport perspective that could
be done way better if I take myhands off of it, but for now I
wanted to understand how theprocesses worked.
That way we could understandhow we can best support our

(23:10):
customers when they're in there.
So one of the challenges I hadwas just knowledge when they're
in there.
So one of the challenges I hadwas just knowledge.
I just learning curve was steepfor me because again, I thought
like my britches were too bigand I could figure it out on my
own.
So I was the problem Hi, it'sme.
That was the reason why I washaving such a hard time.
Big shocker, big surprise.

(23:30):
But one of the other things isit was difficult to migrate over
so I couldn't just like importa CSV file of like well, these
are all of our customers andthese are all of the people.
You need to tag them to thisthing.
It was a lot more manual to getsome of those things set up.
I don't know if that's like ontheir feature roadmap to make

(23:52):
that different in the future, orif that's just how it is,
because I kind of like that youcan't just do like a bulk import
of a whole bunch of people,because that's how I get on a
lot of spam email lists.
If I'm being really honest, Iwill get an email from someone
and I'm like I never signed upfor this.
How did this happen?
And it's typically when peopledo these summits or they do like

(24:15):
really big things, like theyjust have a really big email
list and then they'll just allof a sudden throw you on some
other list and that's like whathappened.
I don't know what this is.
Who are you?
Why are you talking to me?
I don't know who you are Like.
Can you just at least say hey, crystal, do you want to come
hang out with me?
Like opt in, check, yes or no.
But so again, it's like it'skind of one of those things like

(24:36):
it's good but then it's bad,and it's kind of okay, like I'm
okay that I can't just import awhole CSV file of every single
one of our customers, becausepeople are actually telling me
oh, I want to be a part of this, and that means that my list,
like my member list that I havein Mighty Networks, is solid.

(24:58):
It doesn't have a bunch of coldmembers that haven't logged in
or signed in, like the peoplethat are there want to be there,
and that again, just I'm super, super optimistic.
But I want to go back to Kathy,so let's go back to.
If you're considering movingright, if you're thinking I want
to move from Kajabi orTeachable any other platform

(25:22):
over to Mighty Networks, whatshould you consider?
Well, I encourage you to reallyreflect on why.
Why would you make this switch?
Why does it make sense for you?
Is it pricing?
I'm really happy with the pricepoint that Mighty Networks
offered me.
It is cheaper than what I waspaying with Kajabi.
Even though I had a really gooddiscount with Kajabi, I didn't

(25:43):
share that.
Earlier, I was grandfathered inwith a steep discount on one of
their plans.
I know it wasn't the lowestpaying one Now I can't even
remember which one it was butyeah, it was like $139 a month,
so it wasn't bad.
It was not like $200 or $300for me, like it was under $150 a

(26:04):
month on Kajabi.
But I found a betteropportunity with Mighty Networks
and I took it and I'm reallyexcited that I did so.
Again, this is where I'mstanding today is I'm really
happy about it.
So, if you're considering it,just ask why.
Why are you considering moving?
What are going to be thebenefits?

(26:25):
Are you looking at communitybuilding within a digital course
or coaching cohort, or are yougoing to do live launches?
Are you going to do livelaunches?
Are you going to do events?
What are you trying toaccomplish in the next 12 to 24
months?
And then you can probablyanswer better questions around
what it is that you're lookingfor when it comes to a digital

(26:48):
product platform that can reallysupport those initiatives for
your community.
But I think it's really cool tohave the accessibility to just
talk to my folks, like whenever, wherever I've actually.
I just got a ping, I heard it.
Like I have the notificationsturned on on my computer while
I'm recording this.
I'm like, oh, someone pinged usin the community.

(27:11):
I heard our little podcastersconnect.
Like I love it.
It makes me so happy hearingthat notification, and most of
the time I don't have anynotifications turned on on my
phone.
Y'all I don't.
It drives me bananas to hearthings, but I have my Mighty
Networks.
It's turned on, it's turned onon my phone and I love it.
I love hearing when people arechatting with each other and

(27:32):
they're talking and they'resparking up conversations and
I'm not even there, so thingsare happening, without me having
to constantly go in and checklike, oh, you know, like, is
that video uploaded?
Is that PDF there?
Let me add more content.
Let me do this.
No, I will typically go in andI schedule content for the week

(27:52):
and I just watch to see howpeople interact in the community
.
Of course, I'll go in andengage when people need me to,
but a lot of the time people arein there having conversations
without me, and that is sospecial and it's what's going to
keep my membership PodcastersConnect sustainable for me.
I cannot wait to see where weare a year from now in this
community, because I think it'sgoing to continue to get
stronger and have deeperrelationships with our.

(28:13):
For me, I cannot wait to seewhere we are a year from now in
this community, because I thinkit's going to continue to get
stronger and have deeperrelationships with our audience
and the community membersinvolved, and I'm just, I'm

person over here is paying me totake my course.
That's great.
It's like I was cheering themon from afar, like you're doing
awesome.
But here I'm in directconversation and I'm like, oh my
gosh, you have a question aboutthat.

(29:40):
real time.

everything.
