future episode, I would love tohear from you.
Click on that link and send me anote.

(02:38):
Okay.
I have to admit, I never reallysaw myself as a leader in high
school.
I joined a club called FBLA,which is known as Future
Business Leaders of America.
And honestly, I'm not even sureif that club still exists, but
if it does, let me know byeither leaving a note or letting

(03:00):
me know in my free onlinecommunity because I joined FBLA
so that I could learn how tolead, how to climb the corporate
ladder and maybe even wear apowerful suit one day, giving an
important board meeting When Iwas in high school, that was the
vision I had for myself'cause itspoke power and authority and

(03:20):
that's what I wanted to do.
But that vision of leadershipnever panned out.
I didn't finish college and Ihad my first baby at 24.
Instead of giving a presentationin a boardroom, I was
legitimately trying to figureout how food would end up in my
baby's diaper, even when he waswearing a onesie, And it used to

(03:43):
drive me insane.
I was.
Honestly amazed that even whenmy son was fully clothed, there
was still food from his lunch inhis diaper.
Somehow.
I don't know how it made itthere, and I know you mamas can
also relate to this.
Well, FBLA, it did teach me afew things.
I still remember learning aboutlunch etiquettes and what not to

(04:04):
order during lunch interviews orhow to greet someone with
confidence by giving a firmhandshake and making eye
contact.
But those moments.
Were quickly traded forsleepless nights and learning
how to lead a little humanthrough tantrums, through
patience and lots of singing.

(04:25):
And for a long time I didn'tthink that that counted as
leadership, but the truth is, itabsolutely does.
It's just placed in a differentsetting.
Now, if I were to ask you todescribe what comes to mind when
you hear the word leader, whatwould you say?
Most people imagine someone inan authoritative role, maybe a

(04:46):
CEO or a team director or apolished professional who leads
board meetings with confidence, always seems to have the right
answers and wear such a powerfulsuit that they have authority
even when they walk in the doorwithout saying a word.
And while that can beleadership, it's not the full
for many of us, especially asmoms, that image feels like

(05:10):
miles away because you're not ina corner office most days.
Your quote unquote uniform iscomfy clothes and maybe a messy
bun.
You're not making company-widedecisions.
You're trying to figure out howto make dinner before someone
has a meltdown, or you're tryingto manage your household

(05:32):
routines when it comes tocleaning and everyone else's
schedule.
And sometimes and some days youdon't feel like you're leading
anything, you just feel likeyou're barely surviving.
The house is a mess and you'reoverwhelmed and you wonder if
what you're doing even matters.
But here's the truth.

(05:53):
The very fact that you'reraising your children, managing
daily tantrums, showing up foryour family and being
intentional in these small,unseen moments.
That is leadership.
So if you've ever downplayedyour role as quote unquote just
a mom, today is the day that youshift that mindset because we
are going to remove themisconception of what leadership

(06:15):
is because, yes.
You are a mom, but you are alsomodeling what love looks like
under pressure.
You're teaching resilience toyour kids.
You are teaching and displayingresponsibility.
You're living out your faith andyou're actively problem solving.
All of this in real time.
Your kids, they just don't seeyour struggles.

(06:37):
They get to see your growth aswell, and that is powerful.
That mama is influence, andthat's what leaders do.
They influence the misconceptionthat leadership only happens in
board boardrooms, or in animportant position, but when you
believe that lie, you shrink thereality of the massive influence

(06:58):
that you carry every single dayin your home.
Leadership isn't just aboutpower, it's about your presence.
It's about setting the tone andguiding hearts and showing up
with grace even when you don'tfeel like you're quote unquote
enough.
You don't need a title to be aleader.
You just need to recognize theposition of influence God has

(07:21):
already placed in you as a mom.
I talked about how I neverfinished college.
Right when I was in my earlytwenties.
I thought that I was somehowfailing because I didn't have a
degree to back up my name orgive me credential in something.
And that thought spiraled meinto wondering what I was doing
with my life.

(07:42):
I felt lost and I feltinvalidated many days out of the
week because I just didn't havethat credential that I thought
was going to somehow validatemy.
Thoughts and my actions and theway that I carried myself, it
somehow reflected how I valuedmyself as well.
And so I didn't see myself as aleader when I was a young girl.

(08:05):
And I still didn't see myself asa leader when I was a young mom
so let's remove the idea thatleadership only belongs to
corporate America, where itlooks like wearing fancy suits,
climbing the ladder, being incharge of others, and so many
other things because that imagemight not be something that we
as mamas can relate to,especially when we're wiping

(08:25):
noses and stepping on Legos, which hurt really bad, by the
way, if you know, you know, sowhat is leadership really?
True leadership isn't about atitle.
It's about caring for what Godhas entrusted to you.
It's also known as stewardship, and that is the best way that

(08:47):
you can lead.
So let's take a look at Jesus.
In Luke 22, the disciples arearguing over who is the greatest
among them, and Jesus asked aquestion, what were you guys
discussing?
But no one answers him.
They would remain silent, however, Jesus still answers
anyway, he says in Luke 22,starting at verse 25.

(09:12):
And he said to them, the kingsof Gentiles exercise lordship
over them, and those inauthority over them are called
benefactors, but not so withyou.
Rather, let the greatest amongyou become as the youngest and
the leader as one who serves forwho is the greater one who
reclines at the table or one whoserves.

(09:34):
Is it not the one who reclinesat the table?
But I am among you as the onewho serves.
And here you can see Jesuspainting two very different
worlds.
He talks about the world and howwe give titles of greatness to
those whom we deem to have poweror some type of major influence.
But Jesus is saying that in hiskingdom, the great one is the

(09:56):
one who works.
And to work means to serve.
Because he asked the questionlater for who is the greater.
One who reclines at the table orone who serves, is it not the
one who reclines at the table?
And then he goes on to say, butI am among you as the one who
serves.
Jesus flips the script and theworld's eye.

(10:17):
The leader is the one recliningat the table being served.
But in God's kingdom, thegreatest is the one doing the
serving.
And Jesus doesn't just say it,but he actually models it.
In John 13, he takes on the roleof the lowliest servant and
washes his disciples feet.
And then he says, if I then, ifLord and teacher have washed

(10:39):
your feet.
You also ought to wash oneanother's feet.
I have given you an example thatyou should do, just as I have
done to you.
And also just a little side notein the Jewish culture, back in
the days with Jesus, washingfeet was a task performed by the
lowliest servant.
And for Jesus to take on thatrole as rabbi, as someone who is

(11:03):
a leader, to do that, he ishumbling himself and he's
showing his disciples.
The way to lead.
Well, so it's not glamorous allthe time, right?
Even as a mom, our life is notglamorous.
We don't always get what we wantor even to do things when we say
we're gonna do'em, it's not loudeither.

(11:23):
Meaning no one's really cheeringus on from the sideline saying,
go, mama.
Go.
Right?
Even though that might be whatwe need from time to time, and
often it goes unnoticed.
and that can make us feel likewe're just kind of disappearing
into the background of ourfamily's lives.
But the truth is.
When you stop doing them, theywill notice.

(11:44):
They'll notice the things thatusually make their day run a lot
smoother is not there.
Or the little luxuries that theyget, they don't get anymore.
That's not to discourage you,but it is to let you know.
That just speaks into how muchof a powerful impact you make.
So Mama's Kingdom leadership ishappening every day.
You are doing it every day..

(12:05):
And so I hope that thatencourages you to continue to
show up even if you're notconstantly getting a thank you
or hug as you are workingthrough your day.
When I was a little girl, I usedto dread cleaning up.
After dinner, I would cook, setthe table, and while everyone
else relaxed on the couch, I wasstuck with the mess.

(12:26):
I remember thinking, it must benice to eat and then walk away,
not have to worry aboutcleaning.
But as I grew in my faith, I sawit differently.
That small act of cleaning, evenwhen I didn't want to, like
clearing the plates, wiping thecounters down, serving my
family, in unseen ways, that isleadership.
That is what Jesus did.

(12:46):
And he said, I am among you asone who serves.
And while in that season, Icouldn't quite see it yet.
When I look back on it, I'm sograteful, so incredibly grateful
that I just stuck it through, because even though my family
might not see it that way, I amglad and I feel honored that I
got to serve him in that way.
So no leadership doesn't requirea job title.

(13:10):
But it does requirefaithfulness.
It is showing up with aservant's heart and stewarding
what God has placed in yourhands, and that is your family.
So how does this tie in when itcomes to leadership as a mom?
The thing is, you're alreadydoing it.
Every time you wake up early.
Pray for your kids, guide themthrough their emotions.

(13:32):
Whenever you pack lunches, whenever you manage the
routines, whenever you stopwhatever it is that you're
doing, and listen when they'rehaving a rough day or when they
have something exciting to sharewith you, that is all.
Leadership, you're leading inthose moments and everything in
between.
It's not only in what you'redoing with them, but in how
you're showing up.

(13:52):
They see you and they're reallygreat observers.
So if you are constantlynegatively speaking to yourself
in a way that doesn't show love, they'll pick up on that.
My kids and I used to play thisgame where we would take turns
saying what we noticed orappreciated about the other
person.
I started hearing my kids repeatthings that I didn't even
realize.

(14:12):
I said both sweet and not sosweet things, but that moment
reminded me that they're alwayswatching and how I lead, even in
my tone of voice or my bodylanguage, it is shaping their
understanding of love, grace, and of serving.
So teach your kids through yourpresence, through your patience

(14:34):
and your persistence, andwanting to show up and be
better, Keep this in mind.
Leadership and motherhood isn'tabout being perfect.
It's about being faithful withwhat God has entrusted to you,
your home, your children, andthe influence that you have
because your kids are watching.

(14:55):
They're learning what love andservice looks like through your
tone of voice and your actionsthat are learning what faith
looks like and how you handlethose hard moments, and even in
how you celebrate.
So yes.
Even the ones where you mess upand you ask for forgiveness,
it's about displaying humility, showing them what that looks
like, and it's all a learningmoment for you and for them.

(15:19):
All of this is leadership at itsfinest.
And the best part, it's kingdomwork and it's changing lives.
So begin changing the way youview motherhood and start
embracing the leader role in adifferent light.
Walk humbly and invite the HolySpirit to guide your steps.
Keep in step with him.
Remember, the goal isn't to be aperfect mom.

(15:41):
It's about being a faithful one.
So lead conversations that pointback to God.
Keeping your word to showintention and so much more.
Because true leadership is shownthrough Jesus.
It's in serving instead ofreclining at the table, because
in God's Kingdom, the leaderisn't the one who's reclining at
the table, but the one whoserves.
And Mama your home is the quoteunquote table, and your

(16:05):
leadership is shown in theserving.
So that's through playtime, bedtime stories, cleaning up
messes, and forgiving quicklyand everything in between
because you lead, when you leaninto the messy, beautiful work
of motherhood with a heartsurrendered to God.
So the next time that you stepon all Lego piece, or you're

(16:26):
cleaning a mess, you didn'tintend to.
Nor wanted to.
Remember that leadership is notjust you, quote unquote,
constantly cleaning, but usethis as an opportunity to be a
servant leader and invite yourchild to help you clean.
Teach them so that they can havethe skillset later on to pick up

(16:46):
after themself.
Because it breeds into so manyother things like learning how
to take responsibility, and itpoints them back to the one who
came not to be served, but toserve.
So let's move past themisconception that leadership
only exists in powerful suitsand high positions, and start
seeing it in the everyday workof motherhood because you're not

(17:10):
just surviving, you are leading.
Leadership is about faithfulstewarding of what God's
entrusted you with your home, your family skills, and your all
of your talents, all of it.
Lean into the messy times, anddon't forget that when things
get hard, mama, you can do hardthings.
