Silence on the deck! Clear the way for our newest guest of honor, Ian from the Best Film Ever podcast. Ian and Hermes go a little ways back, but finally we were able to secure a duet. Ian brings us a beautiful 2006 indie American tragicomedy road film and the directorial debut of the husband–wife team of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The screenplay was written by first-time writer Michael Arndt. The film stars Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Paul Dano, Abigail Breslin, and Alan Arkin, as members of a family taking the youngest to compete in a child beauty pageant.
