Sheila (00:01):
You already know how to
be visible online.
You've posted, you've launched, you've shown up even when it
stretched you.
You've built something real.
The next level isn't aboutbeing everywhere.
It's about being known for thething only you can do.
In this episode, I'm going toshow you what happens when your
visibility comes from clarityinstead of pressure, so that you
(00:22):
can create more impact by doingless and feeling the confidence
of being sought out instead ofchasing attention.
If visibility has started tofeel like a treadmill you can't
get off, this conversation isgoing to feel like an exhale.
Hi, welcome to the podcast.
I'm Sheila Botelho, and Ibelieve true success is built
(00:43):
from the inside out.
There's a phrase floatingaround the online space right
now that I want to unpack today.
And it's the idea thatvisibility is everything.
Because if you've spent anyamount of time in the digital
business world over the last fewyears, you've probably noticed
this shift.
Marketing used to be aboutexpertise, then strategy.
(01:06):
And now it's become a race forattention.
It's not enough to havesomething meaningful to offer.
You're told you have to beeverywhere, all the time, in
every format, on every platform.
And now with AI superchargingcontent output, the pressure to
be omnipresent is louder thanit's ever been.
(01:29):
And so many leaders haveinternalized this message as
truth that visibility equalsworth, visibility equals
success, and visibility equalsimpact.
And I get it because I've livedthat belief too.
And while it's partially true,I will say that there's more to
the story.
(01:49):
When social media became theway to market your business,
personal brand stopped beingthis cute little optional thing
and became the entire businessmodel.
It was like the expectationshifted overnight.
Not only did you needexpertise, you now needed a
persona, a vibe, a visualaesthetic, a behind-the-scenes
(02:15):
pass to your life in some cases.
And suddenly visibility becamecurrency.
The comparisons wereunavoidable.
The leaderboard of likes, thefollowers, the launches.
And even if you had deepconfidence in your work, you
(02:36):
could walk online and instantlyfeel like you were behind.
So of course, the subconsciousconclusion was if I'm more
visible, I'll be more valuable.
But here's what I've learned, and what I want to share today.
Visibility doesn't createclarity.
(02:56):
Clarity creates visibility thatconverts.
And if we don't understand thedifference, we burn ourselves
out trying to be everywhereinstead of being effective in
the spaces that matter.
So I want you to hear this.
I'm not saying visibility isnot important.
What I'm saying is we need tobe very, very clear before we
(03:20):
get visible and then also knowthere are options with how
visible we want to be and wherewe want to be visible.
I want to take you into amoment in my own life when this
belief system cracked open forme.
Several years ago, I wastraveling with my loves.
And for the first time in along time, I stepped off the
(03:43):
content treadmill.
I had batched everything beforewe left: podcast episodes,
social media, emails to mycommunity, things for my private
clients.
So my online presence stayedactive while I was away, which I
still believe is a goodstrategy.
And when I returned, I noticedsomething I didn't expect.
(04:06):
Because honestly, I lovecreating content.
I love being on differentplatforms.
I love being visible.
It's just part of my blueprint,if you will.
But I noticed when I came back,I didn't want to hit the ground
running again.
And again, it's not because Ididn't love showing up for my
business, because I absolutelydo.
(04:26):
And it wasn't because I didn'tbelieve in my work, but it was
because I felt something Ihadn't felt in a while when I
was away.
Presence.
It's built through connection.
(05:04):
And while I'd been gone, something else happened too.
My existing online content, content I didn't even remember
posting, frankly, started takingon a life of its own.
I got new messages from peoplewho had just found my podcast.
I got DMs referencing a postI'd written months before.
(05:27):
I got responses from someonewho binge watched all my YouTube
shorts during their morningwalk.
And what they resonated withconsistently were the signature
methodologies I'd been teachingprivately to my clients.
It wasn't the volume of mycontent that was moving people,
it was the clarity of it.
(05:49):
So many entrepreneurs areunknowingly building visibility
on top of fog instead of beingreally, really clear.
This fog is then multipliedinto more fog.
When I took that breath aftertraveling, and I had so much
grace on myself when I did that, because I knew the feeling of
(06:12):
being disconnected and I knewthe feeling of doing business
before social media for manyyears.
It felt so good.
It was like a reclamation.
That pause that I took beforejumping back into the online
swirl, I realized something hadchanged inside of me.
I realized that my businessdidn't grow because I was
(06:35):
everywhere.
My business grew because I wasaligned with what I wanted to be
known for.
And that moment became a pivotpoint.
Not the kind of chaotic pivotthat people are in the fear mode
for, but the kind wheresomething inside of you quietly
says, it's time to stopperforming visibility and start
(06:57):
embodying it.
Because here's the truth, Inotice I'm not hearing much of
these days.
Real visibility is the naturalbyproduct of clarity, resonance,
and leadership, not justvolume.
So let's break this downthrough a few reflections that I
(07:20):
have to share with you today sothat you can apply this to your
own business.
First of all, when I was in thepersonal brand era and when it
took over the industry, it feltlike overnight, success looked
like it was being the most seen.
And that pressure shaped how Ishowed up.
(07:42):
I was producing and posting andreally performing, but not
necessarily connectinginitially.
And I know I'm not alone inthat.
Creative entrepreneursespecially feel this so deeply
because our work comes from ourhearts.
Putting it out there can feellike putting ourselves out
there, putting our souls outthere.
(08:03):
And it did work, but it didcost me also because it wasn't
sustainable.
It cost me a lot of energy.
I didn't find it nourishing.
And it wasn't the frequencythat created the best results
for me.
It did great for other people.
Although, interestingly, thosepeople who said it was going
(08:24):
really well for, I noticed aftera while the truth came out
about them needing to step awayfrom social media.
You may have witnessed thatyourself over the years, where
you've seen certain people whoare online influencers and
living the breath's life.
And then all of a suddenthey're like, Yeah, I'm closing
it down because it took such atoll on their mental health.
(08:44):
Because proving energy createsmomentum, but it doesn't create
peace.
Not for everyone, anyway.
And so what shifted when I gotclear on what I truly wanted to
be known for, well, everythingshifted.
When I got clear on my coremessage, not my brand aesthetic,
(09:07):
not my content pillars, not myniche or anything like that, but
truly the transformation that Istand for, several things
happened.
My schedule became morespacious.
The work that I do now is thework I'm meant to be doing.
Client results deepened, revenue increased with less
(09:30):
input.
Higher level opportunitiesfound me literally falling in my
lap.
I did not chase them.
Content became so much moresustainable for me.
And as a result of all of that, the magnetism increased without
more effort.
Not because I spread wider, butbecause I went deeper.
(09:51):
What is the energetic andfinancial cost of the wrong
visibility versus the ROI ofaligned visibility?
Well, let me tell you, this iswhat I've found anyway.
The wrong visibility costs arepeace, joy, confidence,
intuition, time, money, energy, boundaries, and creativity.
(10:16):
And the right visibilityreturns truly are having more
energy, having more clarity, more authority, the ideal
clients you want to be workingwith, making an impact, more
scalable revenue, and more ease.
And so, what conversationsunlocked my next season of
(10:39):
visibility and continue to, theywere the honest ones.
First of all, the conversationsI had with myself, with my
team, and with my audience, where I said out loud what I'd
been avoiding.
I am not here to be everywhere.
I'm here to be effective.
I literally remember a postthat I had put out saying I'm
(11:03):
creating my own algorithmbecause really we are human, we
are not robots.
And we all like our systems andour structures, and we
certainly thrive with those, butwe get to also create them.
And when I said that, everything began to work.
It was a beautiful thing.
Content became amplificationinstead of feeling like
(11:26):
obligation.
And I was leaning more deeplyinto delegation as support, I
was feeling less pressure.
And AI became leverage insteadof something that I was
dependent on.
But none of that happened untilI named what I wanted to be
known for.
So if you're listening to thisand feeling the visibility fog,
(11:47):
like you're posting a lot, butnot feeling seen.
If you're exhausted by thetreadmill of keep going, keep
going, keep going, just keepmoving.
Or if you secretly fear thatpausing will make you disappear,
I want to tell you somethingfrom the deepest place of
knowing in my soul.
You do not need to beeverywhere.
(12:09):
You simply need to be exactlywhere you are meant to be with a
message that's aligned with whoyou truly are.
Because when you do that, thatis when you become even more
magnetic because you are calmer, you are dialed in on the work
(12:29):
that is meant for you, and theright people will come to work
with you or to purchase yourproducts.
And now, if you're ready forvisibility to feel lighter, to
feel clearer and more profitableinstead of chaotic, pressured,
and loud, this is your nextstep.
(12:49):
Go to the show notes and pickup your vision map.
The link is there showing theexact clarity process that helps
you decide what you want to beknown for, who you're really
speaking to, and whichvisibility pathways actually
matter for your next season.
There are so many places youcan be, and you need to be in
(13:12):
some of them, absolutely, because that's how people will
find you.
But will they be the alignedones?
Only when you get clear.
Visibility should feel likecoming home to yourself, not
like performing for thealgorithm.
And when clarity leads the way, visibility doesn't become the
(13:34):
thing you chase, it becomes thething that finds you.
Thank you so much forlistening.
If this resonated for you andyou feel like someone in your
life might be feeling likethey're on the hamster wheel of
content creation and visibilitypathways, send it to them.
Text it, DM it, whatever thecase.
(13:55):
Because we all need to be ableto do this work in a way that is
resonant for each of usindividually.
Thank you so much forlistening, and I will see you on
another episode.
