Montreal and Central Winnipeg held by-elections last evening. While Elmwood-Tascona in Winnipeg remained NDP as it has historically been, the plurality was cut from about 10000 over their nearest rival the Conservatives, The difference is stark…now only 1200 votes. That shows the strength concervatism is gaining even in what some would have considered a forever unattainable riding. In Quebec, Emard-Lasalle-Verdun was in contention. It’s a working class riding loing held by the Liberals. But the Bloc Quebecois was victorious. It was a squeaker though with both Liberal and NDP contenders nipping at the Bloc’s heels.
