In this episode, I got a chance to chat with my friend, Hutch, a multi-disciplinary artist based in Oakland. Hutch opened up about their journey in art and music, which started at Burning Man and continued with their studies in sculpture at the San Francisco Art Institute. Hutch shares the empowering message behind their recently released music video, I'm Hutchtastic, which is all about standing up to haters and embracing self-worth.
We discussed the importance of dismantling systems of oppression and societal pressures to conform. Hutch shared insights from books like The Body Is Not An Apology by Sonya Renee Taylor and You Have the Right to Remain Fat by Virgie Tovar, which can help individuals understand how fatphobia is a tool used by the patriarchy to suppress women and fems. Join us as we chat about the power of self-love and the importance of embracing our own unique journeys, reminding ourselves and our listeners that we are powerful and capable of doing great things.
