Helen (00:00):
Welcome to the socialize forecast, Tuesday, 02/11/2025.
Yay. We're gearing up forValentine's week. And if you
don't know about Doug's winterparty, let me enlighten you
because there is a little cute, adorable, feel good trend that
is has started on TikTok and hasnow kind of I think it's

(00:20):
infiltrated the world at thispoint. I know that it's it's
pretty big.
There's a gentleman in the townof New Hope, Pennsylvania. If
you don't know about New Hope,it is the Bucks County. I don't
know if maybe he's in New Hopeexactly, but he's in Bucks
County and he went around withpaper invitations house to house
to invite his neighbors to awinter party. And I think it's

(00:42):
on Saturday. I'm not quite sure.
But anyway, he went around anddid these invitations. And one
of the, young girls who is hisneighbor answered the door, and
she I guess her ring camera hadcaptured him coming up to the
door and captured theirconversation where he invited
her to his winter party, whichgoes from 4PM until the cops
come, which is so cute. Sheposted a video about it, crazy

(01:06):
viral situation where peoplearound the world claim they're
coming to Doug's party, and itis so cute. But what I fear is
that people will actually showup at this poor man's house, and
I'm curious to see how that'sgonna unfold because I noticed
that there was a a couple fromCalifornia that were packing up
their car, and they were gonnadrive across country to go to

(01:27):
Doug's party. And I'm thinking,were you invited to Doug's
party?
He invited his neighbors. Whatthe hell? So I love when this
happens because it's a feelgood, beautiful story. But at
the same time, if I would beDoug's family, I'd be a little
concerned about what's gonnahappen at his house. And that
would concern me a little bit.
Because even if everybody hasgood intentions, if they all do

(01:48):
show up at his house, that'sgonna be a terrifying situation
for this poor man. But the wholeidea here was that people were
hosting Doug's parties aroundthe country. And that was more
of the beautiful story where itbecame a thing to have a party
in the winter, and it was allinspired by this sweet

(02:09):
gentleman. I'll include thevideo in the show notes and also
it's in the newsletter. But Ijust if you don't know about it
and somebody says to you, hey, you're going to Doug's winter
party, at least you'll know whatthey're talking about.
And let's pray for Doug and makesure nothing happens to his
house or his neighborhood. I'msure the cops are gonna arrive
much quicker than they wouldhave normally if everybody that

(02:31):
says they're showing up to thisthing is actually gonna show up.
Well, stay tuned for that one.The other thing I wanna talk
about two more things this weekI wanna I wanna discuss. I was
gifted a package, a PR package, and I get PR packages now and
again.
Not as often as I maybe did inthe beginning of being on TikTok
and having growing a following, but But occasionally, I get a PR

(02:52):
package. And I was I was invitedto receive a PR package from
CeraVe, which is that, thelotions, you know, the brand.
And I don't I wasn't obligatedto make a video, but I had this
really fun idea that of aneffect I wanted to do. And I had
been thinking about this effectand I was I was hoping that I'd
get booked for a project where Iwhen I shoot for sometimes for
Olay or Clairol. And I was like,oh, I hope I get booked on

(03:14):
something soon because I coulduse this effect.
And lo and behold, I got this PRpackage and thought I'm doing
it. I'm gonna do a video and I'mgonna use this x-ray effect. And
that's exactly what I did. So Imade the video and I decided
instead of doing a typicalinfluencer like, let me show you
how the lotion goes on. Let medo a day in my life.
I decided to do the X-ray. Let'stake I got a PR package. Let's
take a look inside the box, andI did this X-ray effect with my

(03:37):
phone. And it is super cool, Ithink, because it's something
different. It's a different wayto highlight.
It's more my style to highlightgetting a PR package versus
doing something completelyoutside what I normally post.
And then, of course, that wouldfeel like an ad. It even still
felt like an ad and I said, hey.I got a PR package. Let's take a

(03:57):
look inside.
That even felt salesy to me. ButI thought, well, I have to
introduce it somehow. And thebox did say, hey, it's me on the
outside so I thought it was fun.Anyway, I did the x-ray effect
and my studio people are gonnahave the advantage of learning
this this week in the studio. Iwas going to post a generic
tutorial, but because this is soniche and it was a very not a

(04:18):
viral video that I posted, I'mnot gonna I'm not gonna share it
on my regular feed.
I'm gonna really use this toteach a very good lesson in my
studio about how to do this typeof green screen effect. And it's
going to be useful not just forseeing inside packages, but I'm
gonna show them how to look doit like x-ray inside your
closet, how to do a thing whereyou hold up your phone and you

(04:40):
show your phone and then you endup inside in the scene. So I'm
gonna use this opportunity toteach a very big lesson in the
studio this week. Yay. So ifyou're in my studio and you're
listening, you can look forwardto that.
And I'm really pumped for youguys to take that and run with
it. I can't wait to see thecontent you do. One thing I will
say that the the folks who haveembraced the studio and done the

(05:04):
challenges every week, it's beenso good to see their videos. So
I can't wait to see what they dowith this one. But the other
thing that I'm doing that mystudio people don't even know
about yet, and I'm pumpedbecause I just got off a phone
call with my casting directorfor my TV commercials.
And I have a shoot coming upthat I'm going to be casting
for. And because of that, I'vebeen in touch with him to find

(05:24):
the talent. And I startedtalking to him and I said, you
know what? Do you wanna do apresentation to my studio and
explain how you find the peoplefor the commercials? I would
love to have you.
And he said, yes. So I'm gonnahave him be a guest in the
studio on one of our Zoommeetings upcoming this month in
February, where he's gonna joinand talk to us about casting,

(05:45):
the process, getting an agentthing, how he finds talent, when
how he goes about finding talentwhen it's real people casting,
when he's not when he's lookingbeyond models that come from
specific agencies he deals with.So I'm excited for that. So all
of this is coming. So if you'renot in the studio, now's a good
month to try it because you'regonna get have the advantage of
these things.
But if not, you know, as Ialways say, fine and dandy. Just

(06:08):
carry on with us here. I've gotlots of trends to share with you
coming up. We do have a openmeeting with Tamzin and she's
gonna talk about how she movedfrom the news, Tamzin Fadal that
is, how she moved from being anews anchor into being a social
media creator, basically, fulltime and author. So she's taken
on the platform of being a voicefor menopause.

(06:30):
And so we have her coming up andshe's gonna be with us on
February 19, on Friday, February9 sorry. That's a Wednesday.
Wednesday, February 19. She'sgonna join us and talk to us
about that. So I have lots ofthings that are open for
everyone and some things thatare literally just for my studio
members because I've got tobring extra value to the people

(06:51):
who who are taking the time tobe a part of something that is
very special.
Okay. So now let me get into thetrends for today, and I love
these because a couple of them,Julie and I are in sync on. When
I saw it, I said, yep. She'sshe's seeing the same thing I'm
seeing. So the first one iscalled My Emergency Contact.
This is fun because you can usethis song and show off a funny

(07:13):
video of the person who you havein your phone as the emergency
contact. So a lot of people willhave their best friend or a
husband or a relative, and maybethat relative is kind of a
goofball and they're doingsomething silly. So the example
we have is the emergency contactis sticking his head into a wall
of snow. So it's an absurd thingthat he's doing, and this is the
person that's supposed to betheir emergency contact. So you

(07:35):
can really do something.
You can have a lot of fun withthis. It could just be like a an
emergency contact is like acrazy wild dancer. Maybe your
emergency contact is, obsessedwith cooking and they're baking
cakes all the time. Whatever. You can have some fun with that.
The next one is don't getcaught. And this game, I've seen
it all over. And it's where oneperson is I think they're

(07:58):
blindfolded in the they'resupposed to be. And they're
supposed to be are they supposedto be blindfolded? Let me see.
Let Let me take a good look atit before I say that. Let's see.
Oh, yeah. They are blindfolded.Okay.
I was right. I thought I waslosing it for a second there. So
one person is blindfolded andthen they're spinning around and
they're supposed to be filming.I like how I close my eyes for
the demo if you're watching. Isthey're they're filming and

(08:18):
you're supposed to be runningand hiding and trying not to get
caught as they're taking, photosand they're taking pictures.
So the person's got they're notfilming stills. They're tap tap
tap tap tap and they're takingpictures. So it's a tap tap tap
situation where the day betaking those photos. And you're
try and everyone in the room istrying to avoid being seen in a

(08:38):
photo. And then the videohighlights the photos that were
actually taken.
It's a lot of fun. A lot ofblurry photos. A lot of people
ducking and diving and trying toget away from the camera. And
that is a real really fun familytrend to do. So if you have a
gathering, if you're going toDoug's winter party and you're
with people or if you're hostingone, you can do this with a
bunch of people.
That could be a lot of fun. Andthe next ones are for Instagram

(09:01):
and one of them is you'reknowing my stuff. This is a fun
lip sync audio that was trendinga while ago on TikTok. And it's
you lip sync and then you add atitle about when someone has
been seeing your content onlineand you're like flattered like,
oh my, you know. So it's thatwhole vibe of being discovered,
being found out online whenyou're in another setting.
And then the last one we havefor Instagram is It Was Therapy

(09:24):
and this is showing off anactivity that feels like therapy
to you. And this creator wasbuying overpriced hoodies and
that's her therapy. So thinkabout what your therapy is and
show that off. Maybe it's you'reobsessed with with, body
lotions. Maybe you're obsessedwith different drinking mugs.
We know that is a big one ofthese water bottles. Maybe

(09:45):
you're obsessed with contentequipment that you use to create
content, your microphones, yourtripods, whatever it is that you
are obsessed with that give youcomfort. That's what you need to
show off. Now as I mentioned, wehave our featured workshop
coming up next Wednesday withTamzin who's gonna talk to us
about leading the news andmoving into her social media and
influencer and author andspeaker and advocate for

(10:09):
menopause life that she's livingright now. And I can't wait to
talk to her about that.
And then we're gonna hop intothe original content ideas. And
this week, we have the first oneinspired by me being a crazy
trying to be an influencer anddoing my PR package my PR
package video. But this is maybetake a page out of my book and

(10:31):
decide to be an influencer andmake a video how you would make
an influencer video if you hadan opportunity to get paid to do
so. And then possibly, you cantag the brand if it's a product
that you love and maybe they'llsee your video and they'll offer
you money to use it. Do you knowthat during the pandemic This is
so funny.
I forgot about this until justthe other day. And when I tell

(10:51):
you why I remember it, you'regonna laugh. But during the
pandemic, I was doing, a lot ofvideos for YouTube and whatnot
where and one of them wasshowing how I dye my own roots.
And so I was doing this duringthe pandemic and I posted the
video. Like, here's how to do itin case you don't know how.
I'm gonna show you how I domine. And I happen to remember
in that video that in the behindme when I was filming, there was

(11:14):
we a, towel rack had come offthe door and so there were nail
holes that were open nail holes. And it just bugged me that I
recorded that video and thosenail holes were behind me and I
didn't notice when I wasrecording. They are since fixed.
But do you know that I wascontacted by Pantene, the actual
shampoo company, And they paidme a thousand dollars to use my

(11:36):
video in a commercial during thepandemic.
So, yes, I was on a TVcommercial during the pandemic
and I got paid for that video. And every time I see it, the
nail holes the nail holes behindme, it's enough to make me wanna
cry because I'm like, why didn'tI have those nail holes fixed
behind me before I made thatvideo? Anyway, so any video that

(12:00):
you make, there's a lot ofcompanies that will dig for user
created content to feature andthey do pay you usage rights for
that. So if you make a video andit gets discovered by whatever
company, you could have anopportunity to make some money
and you can also get some letteryour five minutes of fame as
they say or maybe it's fiveseconds in my case. Alright.

(12:21):
Next up, we have two Valentineideas for you this week. One of
them is sharing a cap cuttemplate and we shared one that
I just did recently for myHangry Pets client and it was
it's so funny because it's likeValentine's calling and then it
that's sound of the phoneringing and then it bounces to a
bunch of shots that you put in.So it could be you and your

(12:42):
couple or it could be you andyour girlfriends. It could be
however you wanna use it withthe photos but it's a easy
template and it's a fun littleValentine's one for you. And
then the other idea is to showlove and create content around
the idea of spreading goodvibes.
So whether that's sharingsomething that you love in terms

(13:02):
of your favorite creators, yourfavorite recipes, your favorite
books, your favorite TV shows, the things that you love and
making a video around that withthe goal of sharing that love
with your followers. Alright. Now, let's talk about the
featured tutorial. I havenoticed oh god. I have to like I
don't wanna throw any personunder the bus, but I have

(13:25):
noticed that a lot of peoplehave like three seconds before
they speak on their videos.
And this is not just randomscrolling. A lot of times, these
are people in my studio, peoplein my friends following list or
whatever. And I'm like, how arethey not using the editing tool
to just trim off the beginning? No one's waiting. No one's gonna

(13:47):
count to three waiting for youto speak.
And I will do it. I'll scrolland I think it's sometimes it's
a still video. A still photo. And like, is this person
talking? And then I find out, ohmy god.
They were talking. It just tookthem three seconds to get there.
So editing your videos. And whatI did this week is I did an
editing in app tutorial. I didone for Instagram and one for

(14:08):
TikTok.
Because I think a lot of peoplelike to use the filters. They
want, you know, it's likevanity. They wanna look nice.
They don't have time to domakeup, so they put the little
filters on. And then they thinkthey can't edit their videos,
but you can edit right in theapp.
So please, I beg you. If you dospeaking videos, please, please,
please take a look at thistutorial. It will it has the

(14:30):
potential to change your contentto give it more views in about
five seconds flat just bywatching how to do it. Okay? I'm
gonna beg you to all watch it.
Please just trim off. And in myvideo, I show that I trim off a
second and a half. And I evensay, boy, it felt like a lot
longer than that. But even asecond and a half is, like, too

(14:52):
much time for someone to waitfor you to speak. Think about
it.
I'm gonna do a second and ahalf. One and a half. That's a
long time. You're waiting. You're staring at someone.
It's one, two. No. And sometimesit's one, two, three. It's too
long. It's called the millennialpause.
And in some cases, it's calledthe menopause depending on the

(15:14):
age of the person who's doingit. You don't wanna pause before
you start. Next up, we have themusic suggestions as always for
TikTok and Instagram providingyou options. And very lastly,
before I leave, I wanna talkabout hashtags because I've
noticed that whenever I do aspeaking engagement or a private
consulting or anytime I ask forquestions, one of the questions

(15:37):
is always, do hashtags matteranymore? Because people are out
there saying it doesn't matter.
Hashtags are irrelevant. They'renot what they used to be. Yes.
Okay. Nothing is ever as it usedto be because things are always
changing.
They're always changing. Doesthat mean you suddenly abandon
the idea of hashtags? There's areason why there's still an

(16:00):
option when you search. You cansearch by hashtag. So why would
you eliminate the possibility ofshowing up in a search if
someone is a hashtag searcher.
Like there's people who do it.They go tap hashtags and then
they browse by hashtag. It's afact. People still do it. A lot
of people that are, even up andcoming in social media when

(16:21):
they're more I won't call themold school even because a lot of
people still go by their corething that they used to always
do.
So if they were used tosearching by hashtags, they're
still searching by hashtags. Sowhy would you eliminate that? So
I always say it's better tocover your bases and do the
things. Does it take that muchmore time to have a bunch of
hashtags and a note that youcopy and paste into your caption

(16:44):
just in case? I don't think it'sgonna hurt your content, and you
certainly can put it at thebottom so no one so it's not
getting in the way.
I don't think a brand and I justworked with a brand as I
mentioned. They sent me thatpackage. They sent me the
package and they sent me therules. So if I was to make a
video, I had to put certainthings on the video and there

(17:05):
were hashtags. I don't think abrand would direct people to put
hashtags on a video if it wasn'ta reasonable thing that you
should do, if it wasn't a usefulthing.
I think that the brands know alot because they're constantly
getting information directlyfrom the these social media
apps. So if a brand is tellingme to do it, then my gut says

(17:27):
then it's relevant. So I amgonna say, stay with hashtags.
Don't abandon your hashtags. Thelast thing I'll leave you with
is that I am soon going toremake my tips for going live
video.
I do think that a lot of peopleget intimidated by going live if
it's something new to them andthey're not sure what to do. And
they also will be intimidated bythe screen. Because when you go

(17:48):
live, your screen suddenly looksdifferent. It has all these
other options on it. And I havea video, a tutorial from about a
year ago.
But since it is a year old and,you know, these apps are
constantly updating, I thought Iwould remake that tutorial. And
so maybe next week, I will beable to share with you a tips
for going live video and maybeoverview of things to think

(18:09):
about when you are live and whatyour screen looks like. And I'll
do that. I always like to dothat in TikTok because Instagram
is pretty basic. There's not alot of things you can do when
you're live in Instagram.
And then as soon as you finishyour live in Instagram, you have
to immediately repost. You can'tchange it or anything. So one of
the things I always say, especially on Instagram, since
you can't edit the live beforeyou post it, is don't start by

(18:32):
waiting for people to come inbefore you talk. When you go
live, just immediately start.Today, this is what we're gonna
be and while we're waiting forpeople to come in, let me just
give you a few things about whatwe're gonna talk about.
Like, start right away. Becauseif it shows up in your feed now
as a post and you're there, oh,hi everybody. Oh, let's see
who's here and you're doingthat. No one's gonna watch your

(18:52):
video. Like you're gonna loseyour audience.
So immediately when you say golive, immediately start talking
about what the subject is. Evenif no one's in the room with
you, get on it so that when itshows up in someone's feed on
Instagram, they know what yourlive is gonna be about and maybe
they'll stick around and watchit even though it's after the
fact. Okay. That's what I'mleaving you with for today.

(19:14):
Thank you so much for beinghere, and I will be back on
Friday with some more fun andexcitement.
Not a dance party, butdefinitely a strategy session.
Okay. I'll see you then. Bye.
