Helen (00:00):
Welcome to The Socialized
Strategy coming to you live from
Las Vegas in a hotel room, and Iwill tell you that I carried my
big microphone for this one. Andthe main reason is once I decide
I'm not packing in a carry on,then I like to say everything
but the kitchen sink goes in thesuitcase because I like to have
my options. So I figured, well,I have room. So in goes my good
(00:21):
microphone. Julie and I recordedour yours truly podcast together
with our microphones in thishotel room this week.
So once I'm in, I'm in. And I'dlike to kick off with first, the
unsponsored by Sequence. Andbecause I'm here for this
client, I'm gonna just introducethe Hangry Pets. This is why I'm
here. I am creating licensingshow, licensing expo content for
(00:44):
them.
So I am having a lot of fun withthese guys, just romping around
and doing my thing and meetingpeople, networking. It's been a
riot, and I do enjoy them. SoHangry Pets is the first
unsponsored by post today. Thesecond one I want to just
regroup on is the Halara jeansreal quick because I brought I
accidentally ordered the samepair again when I was trying to
(01:07):
order a different style. So Igot my different style, but I
got a same pair of the ones Ialready have.
And I thought, oh, I'll bringthem because Julie will probably
love them. Guess what? I haveinfluenced my daughter. She is
now a proud owner of the Halarawider leg jeans. That's her
style.
And she doesn't usually wear alow rise, but she put them on
and she fell in love with thefabric. And I'm telling you, she
(01:30):
thought it was gonna be hype, and so she's been holding off,
and now she is converted. So weare now both Halara girls. So
the second unsponsored buy todayis the Halara jeans again. And
then the third unsponsored buyis my SmallRig tripod.
And I want to I'm using one ofthem right now, so I can't show
you that one. But this is theother one. This one fits in my
(01:52):
purse. This is the mini version. And what I have that I'm using
to record right now is the moremaxi version.
What I love about the maxiversion is that the way it opens
on the bottom, it's got abutton. So when you pop it, you
you just pop it on the groundand then a tripod opens. And I
kinda love that because it'sreally a cool little thing I can
do when I'm like, I'm a contentcreator, pop, and then my tripod
pops open. So I love that one,and I got that one in white. But
(02:15):
this is a great brand.
So if you don't know about theSmallRig brand, there's lots of
tripod options that work really, really well. They each have
something, like, one thing Idon't like about them. I'm gonna
say honestly, I always like togive you an honest review. The
one thing I don't like about thebigger one, the white one, is
that I can't tilt the camera. Sohere, if this is my camera, I
(02:36):
can't seem to tilt it like thiswhen it's in vertical mode.
It can go this way, and inhorizontal mode, you can do
this. But in vertical mode, forsome reason, you can't tilt, and
I don't like that. But thesmaller one will allow you to
tilt in vertical mode. I don'tunderstand. They should fix that
so that it works for the big onetoo.
So if you are a person who likesto angle your vertical like
(02:57):
this, it only goes up and down.It doesn't angle, and it's a
little frustrating. So that isvery limiting. I just wanna be
completely transparent. That'sthat.
Okay. Those are my unsponsoredbuys for today. And I love any
feedback on if you enjoy theunsponsored buys and if you are
on board with anything that I'vementioned, please do respond in
(03:18):
a comment or respond to theemail, whatever. I love to hear
about it. Alright.
Let's talk about today'ssubject. And I find this funny
because Julie picked the subjectfor today, but I had saved a
video that I saw on TikTok thatI told her I wanna actually do a
newsletter about it. And when Iopened up the newsletter, she
had already written the sametopic. So we're both on the same
(03:38):
track about what the subject ofthe newsletter should be, so
that's karma. And I'm gonnashare with you that video that I
saw that spurred me to wannaalso talk about this.
And the subject is low views. And if low views get you down,
how to reframe your mindset, andfirst of all, why they shouldn't
get you down. But if they do,you just can't help yourself,
(03:58):
you're just bummed out, and youfeel like you're putting in all
this work, and you're spendingall this time making content and
it's not getting a lot of views,I'm gonna give you some thoughts
that are gonna help you throughit. And it's really, really
important. It happened to methis week because typically, I
don't I post one video a day.
And Julie decided while we weretogether, she was like, I'm
gonna take over your account.I'll post a few vidies of you
videos of you doing behind thescenes. So she was powering out
(04:21):
some content on my TikTok, like,in a row. And when we looked at
them at the end of the day, theyonly had, like, a 30 each. Like,
one had a 20, one had a 30.
And my account doesn't usuallyusually gets at a minimum a
thousand just because that'swhen mine stop. If they, like,
don't do well, it's like athousand views. It's never
usually a hundred views. And Ilooked at her and I went, I
(04:42):
don't know. Maybe I'm shadowbanned.
And we were just laughing aboutit. But I said, okay. Whatever.
And I let it I let it be. By theend of the day, I did have a
thousand views on those videos, but that's it.
Again, I didn't have high viewvideos, and I must have posted
like four in a row. And to me, Idon't get bothered, and a lot of
people get bothered. A lot ofcreators are bothered when they
(05:06):
don't have views that are atleast like 5,000, six thousand,
seven thousand when they have alarge audience. And I have
wrapped my head around it. Idon't I am not I am unbothered.
I am that person. I'm like, ohwell. Let it sit. Maybe it'll
get views in a month. I don'tknow.
I don't delete my videos and Idon't worry about it. And so
here is a lot of the things, here are a lot of the things
(05:29):
that I think about and will helpyou through low views. So first
is to focus on the loyal peoplethat are following you. Because
usually, you'll notice in thecomments that those are the
people on those low performingvideos that are engaged, and
they are commenting, and they'rethere for you. And they're
(05:49):
watching your content every day,and they're seeing what you're
doing on day to day basis.
So to be there complaining andmoaning about low views to the
people who are there for youevery day, no. Don't do that.
It's not pleasant. If you startshowing up like a complainer to
your friends, you're not goingto have friends. They're not
(06:11):
going to want to hang out withyou.
Think about it in terms of reallife. People show up at your
house. If you're complainingabout the people who didn't show
up to the people who did showup, how are they going to feel?
They're going to feel like, well, I guess I'm not important
to you. And then you're going tohave less friends.
So just put it to real life andrealize a hundred people is a
(06:32):
big room full of people. If Ihad a hundred people in this
hotel room right now, we wouldnot fit in here. And that's a
lot of people. I'm sorry. I knowI sound like a broken record
when it comes to this, but it'slike really try and wrap your
head around it.
Really try and think about it inin human terms and not get,
like, panicked about it. Thenext thing is to take it as a
(06:56):
challenge that you can trysomething new because now a lot
of people get overwhelmed whenthey have a lot of people
watching their video, and thenthey suddenly feel like they
have to rise to an occasion ordeliver a certain type of
content, a certain level ofcontent. And they that spirals
them into, like, spending moretime, doing more sometimes it's
more stressful for creators. Sothis is a good time to say, oh,
(07:18):
well, you know, yesterday, I'velet Julie post the videos for
me. I was like, you know, shootme behind the scenes doing
things and do whatever you want.
And I and it was like veryfreeing to just let go of it and
not worry about it not being theway I would normally post it. Or
maybe it's not a trend I wouldhave even thought to do. So I
think that and a lot of peoplearen't going to have someone to
(07:40):
post for them. I'm notsuggesting that you can give
your phone to someone and letthem run over your account. I'm
saying take the allow yourselfto do something a little more
irreverent, more unexpected,something totally different.
It won't likely get a lot ofviews because if you're
typically getting a certainamount of views on a certain
style of content, you probablywon't get a lot of views on
(08:01):
something different. Okay? Sothis is your time. Like, okay,
it's not gonna get a lot ofviews, so who cares? I'm gonna
post a video of me doing thecrazy thing or me saying the
thing that I don't wouldn'tnormally talk about.
Okay? So use it as anopportunity. Think about any any
change in your account as anopportunity for growth or
(08:21):
experimentation. Next is torealize that you're building an
archive for future followers. Sothose videos that don't do well,
and you could say, I spent allthat time and it's such a good
video.
It's going to be there so thatwhen you do have a viral video
that hits or something that getsmore views and gets some
attention, those new followersare going to scroll your page
(08:43):
And they're going to find yourother videos. And they're going
to see those videos that didn'tget a lot of views. So you're
going to be providing somecontent for them that's that
adds to your story. So it's notjust a of, you know, one thing
after the next of the same typeof content. Now you have, you
know, some videos in betweenthat maybe didn't do so well and
a lot of people don't knowabout.
(09:04):
And there they are. They're alsogood to refer to later and
remake them or repost them.Because if something doesn't get
a lot of views, reposting themlater is a good strategy because
you can figure, well, not a lotof people saw it. And the few
people who did won't willunderstand. So aside from you
building a database, you're alsobuild aside from building, you
know, archive database, you'realso building an archive for
(09:26):
yourself to pull from that youcan then repurpose because it's
low views, nobody saw it,whatever, I'll post it again.
And it saves you time on anotherday. So that's a really, really
strong one. Next is you can goback if you're in the low view
jail as everybody likes to callit. I I don't mind it. I don't
mind being in low view jail,I'll be honest with you.
(09:47):
But if you're in low view jailand you don't like it, you can
you can just recreate a performa high performing post from
before. So take it as a time togo back and look at you can sort
your posts by, most view mostpopular. And then you can look
at your most popular ones andsee if any of them make sense to
redo. And then you can spendtime recreating those posts. So
(10:07):
that's a nice, thing to do,honestly.
And it's just you you don't haveto start worrying about how am I
gonna think of a new ideabecause you're gonna realize
that buried down in the feed wassomething that did well, it was
so long ago. Now you have a lotof new followers that might
enjoy it. And I have done thisbefore with a stop motion video,
(10:28):
and I it was a very, very highperforming video. And even when
I redo that lesson, people whohave seen that lesson were like,
oh, I love when you teach thislesson. So they have seen it,
and they're seeing it again, andthey're still watching it and
commenting on it.
Okay? So if you have a highperforming video, that usually
tells you tells you something.Your audience liked it. Maybe
they'll want to be reminded orsee it again or see it in a
(10:51):
different way if you'rerecreating it. I will say that,
and this is in the newslettertoo, that going viral isn't
always the answer.
And I've talked about this. Ihad a whole newsletter dedicated
to this and a podcast where Iwas frustrated because going
viral was flooding my feed withcomments from people I'm never
going to see again. And I wasmissing comments and engagement
from people who might actuallywant to hire me or use my, use
(11:14):
join my studio. And I was notable to see those people because
I was flooded. And when I sayflooded, I had a 5,000,000 video
hit.
And I was just like, when isthis viral video gonna end?
Because it was so debilitatingto my, I guess, my business of
social media, whereas I wantedmy community. I wanted to be
able to interact with the peoplethat I usually interact with,
(11:34):
and they were, like, buried inthe comments. I couldn't even
find my usual people. It wasreally debilitating, and I was
like, this is truly the downsideof going viral.
If you have any interest inthat, you can probably find that
episode if you haven't heard ityet. But I did go deep into why
virality isn't really the answerfor building a loyal following
or sales and leads because it'snot those are virality is like a
(12:00):
one a fly by night operation. You get people in and out quick,
but you're not necessarilygetting a loyal following of
people unless you have a certaintype of virality like the we do
not care club. You know? She'sprobably getting a loyal bunch
of followers that really careabout the thing that she's
talking about.
But that's a needle in ahaystack type of situation.
You're more likely to be able tobuild loyal engagement with less
(12:25):
people, not a million people. It's just the way it is. It's
the reality. I'm telling you thetruth.
Okay. The other thing is toremember, and this is the last
key point, but it's also animportant key point. And I
remind myself of this all thetime because I'll have a long
stretch where my videos don't dothat well. They will it'll be a
(12:46):
thousand, a thousand, athousand, and what that that's
not well for somebody with amillion followers. A thousand
is, like, low views.
It's a very, very lowpercentage. So a thousand, a
thousand, a 700, eight hundred,ba ba ba. And then sometimes
weeks it goes like that. Andthen I'll have one hit. Because
I believe that these algorithmsare cyclical in that way.
(13:07):
And I think it's proof that wehave waves. And so you're on a
down wave. The views are down.Okay, don't worry. Just keep
posting because eventually, justlike the stock market, it goes
down and it goes up.
And it goes down again. It isjust like anything that has
life. So social media has, like, its own life to it. It's a life
(13:31):
form. And it's just gonna justtake its own it's gonna make its
own way and find its own way.
So just know that you're notalone in it. There's so many
people who get low views. But,again, if you are that person
that's like, low views, lowviews, those people who are
seeing your videos probablygonna be not your friends
anymore. They don't wanna hearyou complain. It's a terrible
(13:53):
way to scroll and see people.
There is a a particular creatorI see. I'm not even gonna call
out any names, but the only timehe comes up on my For You page
is when he's complaining aboutlow views, and that's the, like,
the video that might get a fewmore views. And I'm thinking, my
god, dude. You're alwayscomplaining about low views.
Like, your content isn't eveninteresting.
No wonder why no one's watchingit. Because if your content is
(14:16):
about complaining, how manypeople wanna sit and listen to
someone complain? I don't youknow, you probably have enough
of that in your real life. Youdon't need it in your social
media media life. So don't bethe complainer.
Be the joy bringer, the smilebringer. Be the, information
disperser. You know, dosomething that's valuable to
(14:39):
people that they they don't haveto listen to you moan and groan
because nobody wants that.Alright. So before I leave you,
I will just let you know thatthis week in the studio,
everyone is learning how to doloop action videos.
And this is one of my favoritethings because as a production
expert, the minute I see a loopvideo and I go, oh my god, so
(15:00):
clever, I know immediately howit was done because my
background is production. I'mdoing this for forty years. I
can see it immediately and I canrecreate it immediately. And so
this week I am breaking it downfor everyone and I have posted
one and people are like, how? How?
How? And I'm like, how? It's soeasy. Just come into the studio
(15:20):
and I'm gonna show you how, andI'm breaking it down. So the my
people got the lesson this week.
So thank you to all my studiocreators who are coming through
and showing their skills withLoop Action Videos. And we've
we've really have, we have lotsof new members. So our meeting
on Friday, we're gonna regroupand talk about the Loop Video
(15:41):
Action and the Loop VideoSpeaking Videos. So we're gonna
do a little recap on, ingeneral, the strategy of looping
your videos. And there's a lotof little bonus tips because
it's not as simple as just Icould tell you take the end and
put it on the beginning.
It's there's other thoughtsinvolved in how that works to
make it perfectly looped. Soyay. Everyone's getting a bonus
(16:03):
lesson on Friday. Can't wait todo our live meeting. If you guys
are studio members and you'relistening, you're gonna have
some fun with me on Fridaybecause I have a little special
special thing I'm gonna sharewhen I'm back from Vegas.
Coming in hot on the red eye, gonna take a little nap, and
then I'll be refreshed and readyfor you. So this has been fun. I
will give you a little insightonto into the whole Vegas thing.
(16:25):
It's been a networking event aswell as a content creation event
as well as spending time withclient, a client who I've been
friends with for so long. AndJulie finally got to meet him in
person.
So she's getting a kick out kickout of that, I think. I guess
I'll find out soon. And then inthe midst of it all, we're
having like a little I will callit a mini girls trip because
(16:46):
we're having time together, justthe two of us. She's helping me
with the work stuff, and we'rein this together in terms of the
work. But also we're doingthings in the evening together,
and we're spending time justhanging out in a hotel room
together, and it's just all thegood special times that I
relish.
So thank you to Julie, if you'relistening, and, thank you to
(17:07):
everyone who is supporting us inthe socialized journey. We're
loving it so much, and we bothknow that we're on a a good path
for, I don't I think impactmaking an impact and helping
other creators feel seen.Alright. I hope to see you very
soon. And if you're not in thestudio yet, if you wanna try it
out for seven days free, youwill definitely enjoy it.
(17:28):
That's it for today. See yousoon. Bye.
