The Moon in Your Chart: What It Really Means 🌙

In this episode of The Stars Made Me Do It, Mimí and Ciera take a deep dive into one of the most important parts of your natal chart—the moon sign. While your sun sign may be the one you identify with most often, your moon reveals your inner world: your emotions, instincts, and the way you nurture and seek comfort.

We’ll break down what the moon represents in astrology, how it influences your personality and relationships, and why it’s just as important as your sun and rising signs. Unlike our series on each specific moon sign, this episode is all about understanding the general role of the moon in your birth chart.

Whether you’re an astrology beginner or a seasoned chart reader, this conversation is packed with insights (and laughs, of course!) that will help you see your moon sign in a whole new light.

(00:10):
The stars made me do it. Welcome back to the Stars Made
Me Do it. You've got your usuals Sierra
and Mimi here, and we are talking about the moon in your
chart today. Yeah.
So this is a continuation of thesort of just the planet series
of every planet in your chart. And right now we're pretty much

(00:34):
caught up because we've got every planet up until Jupiter,
which now we're in our Jupiter season except for the moon.
So that's what we're going to get to today.
Yeah, so if you've been here since the beginning, you know
that every season on the stars made me do it.
We talk about the Sun and then the next year is the moon and
the next year is Mercury. So if you want to look up your
personal placements, like say you've got Moon in Cancer, you

(00:58):
can look up our episode on Moon in Cancer and that'll give you
specific information for that placement.
But what this episode is, is just what the moon means in your
chart in general. So if you want a kind of
overview of just understanding when you look get your own
chart, when you look at somebodyelse's chart, what does it mean?
What is the moon doing in your chart?
And we do have those episodes specifically for the the planets

(01:22):
that we have the seasons out for, like maybe mentioned
Mercury, Venus, Mars, we have Jupiter and we also have Saturn.
And then we. Do have Saturn before we even
have a Saturn season, but this is a really good episode for
anybody who's just getting into astrology too, because the moon
is one of those placements that you, it's kind of the first
thing that you learn after your sun, right?

(01:45):
It's what actually teaches you that there's more to astrology
than just these like 12 sun signs that a lot of people
believe. So it's looking into a little
bit more depth of who you are and how your life plays out
right in front of you. Exactly if you're interested, we
have a back to basics episode onyour top three, which is your

(02:05):
sun, moon and rising sign. We also have episodes out for
every single rising sign based on your element, so you can
check that out as well. And if you are new here and
don't already, please follow us over on socials at the stars
made me podcast. We're on Instagram and TikTok.
You can also watch these episodes on YouTube or on

(02:25):
Spotify. And if you are interested in our
small and magical businesses, you can check out Me Me at
Harvey Mountain dot Alchemy. You can check me out at Magical
dot Book Club. And we are on Patreon.
The Stars made me do It is on patreon@patreon.com/the Stars
made me do it. These episodes come out one week
early. And we also have monthly
exclusive episodes where you will get like a weather

(02:49):
forecast, but an astrological forecast for the month ahead of
what's actually happening in theskies.
What are we feeling? When's Mercury going retrograde?
All of that good stuff. And you can find that at
patreon.com/stars Made me do it.Yeah, so let's get into what
we're going to talk about in this episode, which is the moon
in your chart. We're going to go through what
the moon represents, the cycles of the moon, and also the moon

(03:13):
through more notable placements. So it's rulership, it's fall,
detriment and exaltation. So I guess we should start with
just the moon cycles, right? The logistics of How quickly
does the moon move? What kind of cycles do we
experience with the moon? The moon takes 28 days to go
through all 12 signs of the Zodiac, which means that it's in
a sign for about 2 1/2 days at atime.

(03:34):
And then the cycles that we really pay attention to with the
moon is the new and full moons, right?
And those will happen every two weeks or there'll be a new moon
once a month, right, Once every 28 days.
And there will be a full moon once every 28 days as well.
So we alternate the new and the full moons and we can really see
this like culmination, this waxing period where the moon is

(03:55):
showing us more and more of itself coming up to the full
moon. And then as it's waning, it's
it's going away, it's decreasingin its visibility and it's
becoming a new moon. So these really tell us what we
need to accept that we're manifesting or what it is that
we need to be releasing and letting go of.
I think actually that looking atthe moon through transits like

(04:19):
we do with the new and full moonis very different from the way
that we look at your moon in your Natal chart.
Don't you agree? Yeah, I think that like as
someone who always knows what the what sign the moon is in,
and I'm always up to date on thenew moons and the full moons, I
really see that as a period of time of either releasing or of
manifesting or moving through completed cycles.

(04:39):
But then on a personal level, when you talk about like the
moon in your chart in astrology,it's like you said, it's the
next thing that you get into once you get into astrology.
And it's what I mean, we will get into this, but the moon is
all about your emotions and it'swho you are deep down.
And so in astrology, when you'relooking into your moon sign, it

(05:00):
really is that emotional world. And it's, it's that moment where
you're like, Oh my gosh, I feel seen.
And so like the moon also in like, if you bring in a little
bit of tarot can be known as thegreat clarifier.
And so even though that it can be an ambiguous like energy
where we're not sure, like the moon could be hiding things,
it's also like the thing that illuminates the sky.

(05:22):
And so I feel like we get such clarity on our emotional world
when we look at the moon sign inastrology and just really
clarity on who we feel we are atthe bottom of all things.
Yeah, when you learn your moon sign is when you start to really
recognize what's going to make you feel nurtured, when you
start to really recognize your own basic instincts and

(05:43):
impulses, what makes you feel comfortable versus, you know,
what triggers you into getting into protective mode.
I mean, when we, let's get into, you know, what the moon
represents because we've alreadykind of touched on it a little
bit. The Moon is the ruler of Cancer,
which as we've discussed recently, is like a very
protective sign. It's very much about making sure

(06:04):
that this outer shell is protecting what is so soft and
gooey on the inside. And so your Natal Moon
placement, for example, if your Natal Moon is in Sagittarius, we
can see what's going to trigger that protective mode based off
of the sign that it's in. So maybe if you feel like your
personal truth is being challenged, you're going to feel
really protective or, or your instincts are going to tell you

(06:28):
to retreat and hide. And in the same way, what's
going to make you feel most nurtured and loved when you're
in an emotional moment is going to be whatever sign it's in.
So again, with Sagittarius maybediscussing and seeing what the
future looks like and being optimistic and shining light on
a bigger truth, a larger meaningbehind all of the emotions.

(06:49):
So once you really do get to know what sign your moon is in
is when you can start tailoring the way you communicate your
need to be loved and your need to be nurtured.
Yeah, and just in the briefest overview of your top three,
meaning your sun, moon and rising sign.
When you meet somebody, you meetthe rising sign.
That's the first impression, themask, not in a hiding way, but

(07:11):
it's the first impression of what you are bringing and what
people see you as, how you approach the world.
Then they get to know you. That's your main character
energy. That's your sun sign.
That is how you that's your story arc.
That's how you're living your life.
You show up like to the world asthat sun sign.
But then when people really get to know you, when you're feeling
safe, when you're feeling comfortable, when you're feeling

(07:33):
secure, that is when we get to your moon sign.
And that's why it's the third step of those three, because it
is that inner world. It is more protected.
It is less for the world to see. It's not the first thing that
people are getting because I mean, there's, there's
exceptions, you know, if you have the same rising sign as
your moon sign, that shows up indifferent ways, you know, but in

(07:54):
general, it's the third step that we get to is that moon
sign. And it's because it's your
emotional world and in general, in the nature of the moon
associated with Cancer, which is, you know, that crab and
protective shell like we do wantto protect our emotions.
We do want to keep them safe. We do want to keep our inner
world taken care of. And so it is, there's layers to

(08:19):
get down to it. And this is the moment, like
when you get to know someone's moon sign or when someone gets
to know you on a moon level is when it just clicks and you're
like, oh, my God, they get me. Oh my gosh, Like, they see me.
Yeah. That sense of being seen.
Yes, yeah. Yeah.
And being understood because somebody is seeing your inner
world without you having to share it, without having to

(08:42):
communicate it. Yeah.
And just thinking about, like, the symbolism of the moon coming
out at night, right. And being this bright force,
especially when it's full, beingthis bright force when
everything is resting and everything is calm, there's
almost this, the importance of safety to let your moon come out

(09:02):
right. It's who you are when the guard
is really completely down and when you feel completely safe to
remove the shell and remove thatprotective shell.
For example, I've got this Taurus moon.
When you get me really comfortable, I will be very
relaxed. I will, I mean, I'll work really
hard, but I love a good snack. I love a good anything
comforting and I will, I'll share music with you, I'll share

(09:24):
art with you. I'd love to create with you.
Yeah, it's, it's like this just what you're talking about with
the moon coming out at night makes me think of, you know, the
sun. Everything is a lot less scary
during the day because everything's bright and
illuminated. And so to feel comfortable
showing yourself at night, to goout into the darkness at night

(09:45):
when the moon is out there, likeit's not as easy, it's not as
obvious to put yourself out there.
But when you know that you're with safe people exactly, it is
vulnerable to let somebody in into that moon sign world.
And and that's when I feel like you find that you can gravitate
astrologically towards people that have that same placement as

(10:09):
your moon sign. Like I, I mean, I'm a Capricorn
moon. Both my parents are Capricorns.
I'm very comfortable with Capricorn energy.
I really appreciate the Capricorn risings in my life
that just approach the world in a Capricorn way.
It makes my inner world feel really taken care of.
And you know, and so it's alwaysa nice energy when you meet
someone who has the same sun sign as your moon sign because

(10:31):
it's like, wait, you just, you're just shining you just
lightly. Light.
Yeah, in the way that makes me feel seen and loved.
Exactly. And so, and it is also our
relationship with our mother. That's how we can relate to that
moon sign because it is, you know, Cancer is the mom of the
Zodiac archetypically. And so we have that nurturing,

(10:52):
caring and very the safe feelingthat we have in like a archetype
mom relationship of, oh, this person makes me feel cared for,
makes me feel safe because you feel emotionally cared for and
emotionally safe because that's what the moon is all about is
your emotional world. And that's when, you know, when
you get to a moment of being so upset about something or so

(11:14):
overwhelmed about something, that's those moon feelings.
That's when you're like, I like, what type of nurturing energy do
I need when I'm in that state? And that's what we look to our
moon sign to find. Yeah, it's sort of like a which
came first, chicken or the egg? And like when it comes to
astrology in general, like is itfate or is it will?
Is it nature versus nurture? And with the Moon, it is the

(11:35):
relationship to your mother because it's your relation.
Well, it's your relationship to the nurturing parent, but more
archetypically, yeah, that mother.
And I would say even even when we're not talking archetype, it
is mother because the moon rulesthe womb.
It is about like, you know, where you were created in in you
know, your parents womb, but youknow, coming back to that

(11:57):
chicken or the egg, like it's your relationship to nurturing
energy because of your relationship to your nurturing
parent, right? That parent is going to shape
the way that you view unconditional love, the way that
you view feeling nurtured and safe and or protective, right?
So it's kind of like which came first, the moon representing

(12:19):
your relationship to your mother, or the moon representing
your relationship to nurturing energy and how you feel loved?
Yeah, and it's always, it's, that's the never ending question
with astrology too. It's like, am I like this
because I have this in my chart or is it because I have this in
my chart that I'm like this? Did these things happen in my
life and then I act this way or it's because and that's how it's

(12:39):
like it's all connected. It is.
Right, like you were given this experience because you need to
learn the lesson as seen in yourchart.
You also this chart leads you tothese experiences which teach
you these lessons. You know, So it really just,
it's not about like knowing the answer.
It's just about being like, OK, Yep, I know I'm supposed to be
learning this and knowing it's all connected.

(13:00):
And I would say if you are more on the beginner spectrum of
learning about astrology, the most important take away here is
that your moon is your inner world, your emotions, when you
are feeling safe, when you're feeling with your closest
people, and it is who you feel deep down on the inside.
And if you're more, you know, onlike medium to advanced level

(13:24):
here, I would really recommend looking at what's interacting
with your moon, what it what is making aspects to your moon.
I will get into it when we talk about the different like, you
know, places that we can have the moon for like exalted and
all those things. But I've got a Capricorn moon,
which is, you know, a more difficult placement to have.

(13:46):
And then I've got Saturn right next to my moon, which is all
about lessons and restrictions. And so man.
And then it's opposite Chiron, which is all about wounds.
And so to, to really look at like my journey with emotions,
it's, it's not as simple as justlooking at Capricorn moon, but
it is also when I was a newbie in astrology, the minute that I

(14:11):
discovered, Oh my God, I, that's, that's it for me.
I always was interested in astrology.
I'm a Sagittarius son, I'm a Sagittarius rising.
Give me the description of Sagittarius.
I fit every one of those qualities, but there's still
something that feels unseen. And the minute that I read a
description of Capricorn moon, Iwas like, astrology is
everything. I have never felt more seen in

(14:31):
my entire life than when I read the description of Capricorn
moon. And so it really is the moment
that I feel like so many people are like, Oh my gosh, OK, I'm in
it. I get it.
And and that is then when you get more and more nuanced
information, it's like, wait, this my moon has a relationship
to my sun, it has a relationshipto my Mercury, to my Venus,
whatever that is. And that can give you even more

(14:53):
information on it. But big take away emotions,
inner world safety, security andjust like how we feel, how we
feel good especially I would sayin our homes.
Yeah, I mean, it would definitely be like what, what
environment you like to surroundyourself by, right?
What makes you feel at home? For me being Taurus, I would say

(15:14):
absolutely, I feel at home in nature.
I feel at home when there's music playing, right?
Like my environment, my immediate environment is almost
always dictated by what I'm hearing, by what I'm sensing, by
what I'm tasting or feeling or smelling.
You know, like all, I'm literally a candle maker, right?
So like all of the senses, it's very Torian energy.
And I wanted to throw one more kind of basic thing about the

(15:37):
moon out there. It's who you are when nobody's
watching. Who you?
Are when you're alone, you know it's there are no inhibitions.
When you're just by yourself, there's no worry about being
perceived by anybody else. It's just you out there alone.
Who are you? I love that and that, yeah, I on
a personal level, it's like my Sagittarius energy is out there

(15:58):
all the time, but then I'm so much more serious than that
Sagittarius energy. When I am by myself, I am so
much more serious. Yeah, I'm a lot, I'm a lot
quieter when I'm by myself. And then when I'm around others,
I I feel like I get a lot louder.
And I do notice like with people, you know, my mom is also
a Taurus moon. And in this stage of my life

(16:19):
where I'm living with her, we'vedefinitely fallen into these
places of like, OK, we're both just doing our things.
You know, we're being our moon signs together and so doing our
things kind of in quiet mode. And then when we see each other
and we want, and I have companies like, OK, we'll play
cards kind of silently and we'llalso eat a meal or something,
you know, like it's very Taurus energy, very stable, very secure

(16:39):
energy. But when I'm, you know, and
that's in my home environment, whereas if I'm out in the world,
I'm certainly going to be a lot more Aries, certainly going to
be a lot more Leo rising. Yeah, and with your close
people, because it is who you are when you're alone.
So when you feel safe and comfortable and really at ease
with your closest people, that'swhen your moon sign is also

(17:00):
coming out. And so it's really interesting
to look at your really, really, really close people and what
their moon signs are and how youguys exist together when you're
existing in your moons. Because like we gave this
example in a recent episode, butlike maybe and I are always
recording at a distance, Like werecord this from the other side
of the ocean. And so we're both in our home
environments, we're both in our moons.

(17:21):
We both got Earth moons. We're very like work oriented
and let's get things done and just a little more chill and
grounded. And then when we recorded in
person one time, I was like, I'mrecording with an Aries, all
right? Like I have never seen you zip
around like that. Like in pure chaotic, like just

(17:42):
fire. And I was like, whoa, I'm so
used to recording with a Taurus energy, but now I'm living your
Aries because we're in person. I know.
And like when we hang out in person, we are absolutely Aries
actually, but sometimes we're Taurus and Capricorn as well.
But in that environment where itwas recording, which was so
typically done in our earthy modes, like you mentioned

(18:04):
online, doing that with the chaos of my environment, I was
like, okay, I have to try and achieve my Taurus energy, but I
have to do it with all my Aries.Like I have to manage the Taurus
environment first. It was like a wild experience.
But whenever we do hang out in person, there's a little bit
more right energy, more life. So we do have both the fiery

(18:27):
signs of our Suns and. Let's get into the mythology.
We will get more into the astrological part of things, but
we also like dabbling in the mythological part of things.
And if you've listened to these episodes, you know, it's fun to
kind of find and the the correlations between them.
Yeah, exactly. Cuz it's handy to look at the
planets as characters, right? Like sometimes when we talk

(18:49):
about in the chart, the houses are the literal rooms of a
mansion, and then the planets are characters and then the
signs are the way in which they behave.
Exactly. It's the personification of
these planets and they have themthrough mythology.
That's what it is. And so I just absolutely love
that. And so sources from this are
also some Wikipedia and ChatGPT in addition to just my brain.

(19:12):
Yeah, I just wanna say it when it happens.
But we have The moon is associated with the Greek
goddess Celine, and she's also known as Menay.
That's just another Greek name for her.
And the Roman goddess equivalentis Luna.
And that was the name of my favorite car I've ever had.
My name's for Luna. Love it.

(19:34):
And and so in like the meaning of those words, Celine means
light, brightness and gleam, andMenay means moon.
And so it's also the lunar month.
Oh, yeah. So if you think of like
menstrual, yeah. It's just like menstrual
menopause. Yeah, it's like.
Exactly. Shipped to the woman's body.

(19:56):
I know, it's so cool. So we have Selena or many and
Luna all one and the same. And I have a quote here that she
is traditionally the daughter ofthe Titans Hyperion and Thea,
and sister of the sun God Heliosand the dawn goddess EOS.
And I just love, I love that being like siblings with the sun

(20:20):
and dawn, like the moon being siblings of sun and dawn, which
is so cool. And then we have her as she
drives the she drives her moon chariot across the heavens.
And I love this for any tarot people out there, the chariot
tarot card is always like depicting often depicting like,

(20:43):
you know, somebody with a chariot.
I have one of my favorite decks that has them in the sky, which
is just such a fun connection. But it's associated with the
sign Cancer, like the chariot isassociated with the sign Cancer.
And the cancer is the is the sign associated with the moon
and driving across the chariot across the heavens.
I just absolutely love that. And she is also known for her

(21:07):
romantic love affair with EndingMian, a mortal shepherd who she
put into eternal sleep so she could visit him every night.
Oh, okay, fascinating. So this also makes me think of
like the dream world, which again just want to throw in a
tiny bit of tarot. The moon card in tarot is

(21:28):
associated with Pisces, which iskind of ironic but like it feels
very dreamy and very other. Worldly, yeah, and very private,
which Pisces is not at all. But there's like this privacy
element to the moon, right? Like letting somebody in on that
is very much an intimate thing. It's vulnerable to share your
moon sign with somebody else. So, yeah, very fascinating.

(21:50):
I love that chariot visual. That's very cool.
I did want to also mention we like just in talking of the moon
and you know, the chariot movingacross the sky and how it's
something that you know happens every night.
In astrology, the sun and the moon are considered planets in
astrology. And of the planets, the moon is
the fastest moving planet and itchanges signs every 2 1/2 days.

(22:15):
If you compare that to the Sun, which is every 30 days, if you
compare it to Pluto, which is every like 20 years.
And so it is really the fastest moving planet.
And so we can just see that withCancer energy, with emotional
lunar energy, it is that's the nature of like it's controlling
the waves. You know, it's riding the wave

(22:36):
with the Cancer energy needs to ride the wave.
The moon is cycling through all these different emotions.
That's the nature of the moon. That's the nature of emotions.
Yeah, it continues the narrativeof the moon being a connection
to the divine feminine because you know, we have talked about
this on a recent episode where you know, where a woman's, a
typical woman's cycle is about 28 days, which is perfectly

(22:57):
lined up with the moon cycle of 28 days through the Zodiac.
So we go through these waves in a very moon like fashion.
And when you look at a typical man's cycle, they run on a 24
hour cycle, which is the sun, right?
The sun returns to the high point noon every day and then
it's at its low point at midnight every single day.
So there's sort of, even though it's not through the Zodiac

(23:18):
wheel, in the same regard, you can see how you know the sun is
very masculine male energy and the moon is very feminine woman
energy. You can see it through their
cycles as well. Exactly.
And yeah, just the whole riding the wave of emotions.
And when you think about the nature of the moon doing that,
and then we'll get into the notable moon placements, you can

(23:41):
see how certain signs are going to vibe with that riding the
wave of emotions better, you know, quote, UN quote better
than other signs. And some signs are going to
struggle a little bit more with that energy, A sign that has an
agenda and logic and likes things done the same way every

(24:01):
time. It's that's not what the moon
does. The moon goes through a whole
cycle of different emotions every couple days.
That's that's what the nature ofthe moon is.
And so we think about applying that energy to the moon and to
the sign that it's in, and then we kind of understand more, OK,
this sign expresses emotions in this way.

(24:22):
And this one expresses emotions in a much more like, you know,
explosive way or a much more closed off way.
That's just. And it's like expresses and also
connects to their own emotions, you know, Like having access to
your own emotions is also going to be dictated by what sign your
moon is in. I also wanted to say to anyone
who's heard White Moon Selena, that is another name for this

(24:44):
moon. And it's in contrast to the
Black Moon Lilith, which we do have an episode out on if you
want to know more about Lilith. Yeah.
Oh yeah. That's like, it's the shadow
side. It's the It's divine feminine in
a different, different type of. Way.
Yeah. In an angry way, yeah.
Feminine rage versus divine feminine.
Yeah, let's get into. Some of the notable moon

(25:06):
placements. So if you don't know, we're
going to talk about where the moon is, as we've already
discussed, kind of the sign thatit rules, which is Cancer, and
then where it's in detriment, where it's exalted, and where
it's in its fall. So if somebody has their moon in
Cancer, this is somebody who hasinstant access to what they're
feeling. They have instant access to

(25:26):
their emotions, to the waves that they're riding constantly.
This is someone one who feels nurtured through literal
nurturing, right? This is very coddling or how
someone else might perceive as smothering, but it's just very
unconditional, loving, caring, right?
Caretaking, nurturing, protecting mother energy.

(25:47):
Someone who has their moon in Cancer has a deep connection to
being mothered and mothering others.
Someone who has their moon in Cancer is feeling everything all
the time and riding that emotional wave all the time
because their moon sign is Cancer, which is ruled by the
moon. So they are feeling things in

(26:07):
that 2 1/2 day cycle where they are the the changing signs is
influencing the changing moods. And the moon does everything
emotional nurturing like Mimi just said.
And Cancer is doing all of thosethings too.
So it's a high concentration of,of that moon energy.
And I also think of like I just because I'm a huge Swifty that

(26:27):
Taylor Swift is a Cancer moon. And when you think about the
like, it's not a choice to express the things.
It's we're, we're writing a songabout it, you know, we're
feeling it and as it comes and, and every time we're feeling
something, we are going through all the motions of that.
I'm just thinking of like a notable celebrity that I just
happened to be a little obsessedwith.
And so I feel like that's a goodexample of when we have

(26:51):
concentrated energy like that with when something's in the
sign that it rules, we don't really have extra flavor of
another sign in there. It's almost like a double dose
of that. Flavor super concentrated yeah,
I mean, my dad is a Cancer moon and I can see this very deeply
with his connection to his mom. Like anyone who has their moon
in Cancer may be told many timeswhile you're just like your

(27:14):
mother or can sense that you're so close to your mother or that
you love your mother very much or that she was a very large
influence in your subtle world, in your inner world that that
affects your, the moon is subjectivity, right?
It's we are all perceiving an experience through our own
emotional subjective experience. So it's very personal.

(27:35):
It's not like Mercury, which is about perceiving logically the
environment around you. It's feeling out the environment
around you based off of your previous experiences in your
early nurtured like formative years.
Anyway, I just went from one point to completely a different
point at that point, but with a moon.

(27:56):
And Cancer is somebody who sees the world through the lens of
the way they were nurtured, or maybe lacked nurturing growing
up. And if you are a Cancer moon,
like the way in which you're seeking safety and comfort might
be literally going to your mom, going to your childhood home,
going to that nurturing parent, but you also probably naturally

(28:17):
create a very nurturing environment of your own, a very
nurturing home. My freshman roommate, Oh my
gosh, shout out, Danielle. She was, I think she was on the
Cancer moon episode. Just like the way in which our
space was such a nurturing home space, it just happened
naturally because that like justmaking the space comfortable,
making the space a place that you want to be at home in.

(28:42):
That's very Cancer moon energy too.
Yeah. And then on the opposite
spectrum where the moon is in its detriment, which isn't so
much that this sign is holding the moon back at all, it's just
that this is a very opposing energy to what the moon
naturally wants to do is in Sierra's sign right here.
So Capricorn with the moon, and when the moon is in Capricorn,

(29:08):
it means that there's a a much slower process to recognizing
and accessing your own emotions,right?
It's a much longer game. It doesn't always feel like
necessary or productive to feel your emotions or express your
emotions when they're in Capricorn because it doesn't
always further the goal through practical, actionable steps.

(29:32):
Yep. And on the other side talking,
yeah, I mean, and on the other side talking about like,
relationship to the mother, where moon and Cancer is like so
almost archetypically at least, very connected to the mother,
the moon and Capricorn is like, OK, we both have a purpose for
one another, and that's that. And later on, I've found that a

(29:53):
lot of Capricorn moons in my life have discovered that the
relationship with their mother and like maybe the lack of
nurturing energy has affected them negatively in a way that
they didn't have access to untillater on in their lives.
Yeah, and that goes in that likefor the, you know, looking at
your whole chart and seeing how that influences you.
Me, me was the one who brought that to my attention when I was

(30:16):
talking about moon type subjectsand everything.
You're like, well, you have yourSaturn next to your moon.
Saturn rules delays. So much of your Capricorn moon
is coming out delayed because ofthat Saturn influence.
But when it comes to like that, that just opposite energy
because detriment is, you know, Capricorn's the opposite sign of

(30:36):
Cancer and Cancer is associated with the moon.
Capricorn is known as the fatherof the Zodiac.
It takes care of the tangible things.
It's the shelter, you know, it'sthe providing, it's the
productivity, it's goal oriented.
And it's very, it's not productive to be emotional.
It is not productive like or Capricorn's nature is that it's
not productive to be emotional. And so when you have your moon

(30:59):
in Capricorn, it feels like it'snot worth it to access those
emotions. It's not purposeful to dive into
that emotional world because we've got things to do, we have
things to achieve. And you know, and it's also not
an energy that it's used to expressing.
And so from a personal point of view, it feels like I've had to
learn, and I'm still learning how to even notice what I'm

(31:21):
feeling and express what I'm feeling.
And then so often it's met with,it's not met in a typical moon
way. And so it's like, that wasn't
even worth it. Why did I even try?
I'm not going to express myself because nothing came from it,
just me sharing my feelings. And I didn't feel any better.
Nobody was there to help me because Capricorn has that

(31:43):
nature of I can do things myself.
I can do things like, you know, I can provide so.
Yeah, it's almost like emotions hold me back.
Exactly, exactly. It's, it's feeling like, you
know, if, if I I should be able to do this myself.
Yeah, Oh yeah, the independence factor.
And I think that brings me to like, what's going to trigger a

(32:04):
Capricorn moon's protective mode?
And I think it's a lack of respect or maybe where their
authority is being challenged. Oh my gosh, lack of respect is
like there, there is such a respect when it comes to
Capricorn energy that that is absolutely something that will
make you feel unsafe to share, unsafe to be vulnerable,
emotional, absolutely. And then on the other side,

(32:25):
we're going to talk about where the moon is exalted.
And so exalted is it's sort of like a chosen placement where
the moon is most complemented. So while the moon rules Cancer
and that's very concentrated energy, it's exalted in Taurus,
which is what's tempering out these wild waves that we ride

(32:46):
with the moon are tempered by Tauruses, patience, stoicism,
security. So, and this is a great example,
I have a Taurus, this moon, you know, so we kind of have really
good examples here to talk aboutthe moon's notable placements.
So with the moon being in Taurus, what's going to trigger
them is a sense of lack of security or a feeling of being

(33:06):
challenged, you know, like obstinance, I think.
But what makes them feel safe isliteral security, right?
It's going to be money in the bank account.
It's going to be a solid shelter.
It's going to be food in the fridge and also being
appreciated on a, you know, we're looking hierarchically.
I think obviously all those basic resources are kind of what

(33:29):
everybody needs, which is why I think the moon is so happy in
Taurus, because a Taurus moon doesn't need much beyond just
what basic human needs are. But I think if we look beyond
those basic needs, Taurus Moon wants to feel appreciated and
valued. Yes, there I mean Taurus is all
about value and it's all about because it's ruled by Venus, it

(33:49):
has that, you know, creativity element to it too, which is a
very like a beautiful way of emotional expression.
And so with that creative naturethat comes with that, you know,
Venus influenced moon whenever emotions are happening, like
there is a way of creatively expressing.
And then also, yeah, just thinking of just the things that

(34:11):
make Taurus feel good. You're so right.
It's just typical security I have, you know, and it's also
simple. Taurus is very simplistic as
well, like in the ways in which it doesn't.
I don't need much to make me happy.
And I don't, you know, IA littlegoes a long way because they are
very slow moving. And so like Taurus energy is

(34:33):
very like one step in front of the other.
Like we'll eventually get there. And so with that Taurus moon
safety, I mean any, I mean, I will say it forever more naps
and snacks. That's what is just like, you
know when you are in comfy clothes.
Comfort. Yeah.
And like knowing what to expect, that's a big thing.
I think that's something that really triggers an emotional

(34:55):
response, is not knowing what toexpect, not knowing what's
coming next, right? Taurus likes to know what is
happening and doesn't want a lotof change suddenly thrown onto
them. So that can be really triggering
for a Taurus moon. That can be triggering, but then
we can also see how that could be so beneficial for having Moon
and Taurus because as the like moon nature is riding that wave

(35:19):
and going through the the waves of it.
Taurus has such a steady grounding energy of like, yeah,
I'm going to ride the wave, but it's not budging me much.
You know, I'm able to stay grounded through that wave.
It's that rock. It's that big boulder in the
ocean, you know? Like I feel the waves, but I'm
pretty whereas. Cancer is the wave that's
constantly going up and down. Taurus is the big rocker boulder

(35:41):
in the wave that's being hit by it and acknowledging it.
And I think I see that a lot with my moon placement where
when I am in an emotional moment, well, let's just say
that real, real quick. Everyone always is like, oh,
you're so strong. You're you got it all together.
And I'm like, I'm literally sobbing.
What are you fucking talking about?
But but there is a sense when a Taurus moon is sharing their

(36:02):
emotions, they're still grounded.
Like the fact that they're sharing their emotions is an
awareness of their emotions and a present moment focus that the
Taurus moon has. So while it may seem like Oh
well, they still have it all together because they know what
they're feeling. The Taurus moon is like, wait,
but I'm still feeling all these things.

(36:22):
I just have to be present in it.That's such a good point because
it's not to say that if your moon is exalted like Mimi's,
that you don't have big emotionsand don't go through all these
things. It's not like Oh well, I'm not
sad because I have exalted moon, but like if I compare it like
between your exalted moon and mymoon and detriment, it has been
like only within the past like year and a half that I've even

(36:46):
realized, oh, I'm feeling not OKlike I then need to.
And then having to name what kind of not OK.
Exactly. OK, so I'm just recognizing oh
wait, I'm feeling not OK. Now I have to name that.
Now I have to figure out why it is I'm not OK.

(37:06):
And then I got to tell somebody about it.
Woof. Like that's, that's a whole lot
of steps to have to still go through.
Whereas I feel like from a very young age, I was like, oh, I'm
feeling these things. And when I was very young, it
was so confusing because I was like, why am I feeling all these
things? I don't understand.
But as I got older, I started tounderstand sort of the context
behind it all. But I never lost that vocabulary

(37:28):
and that access to what I was feeling because with Taurus,
it's so basic census. And for me, I always relate how
I feel to how I feel this in my gut or I feel this, you know, I
feel dread in my legs. I feel anxiety in my shoulders,
I feel joy in my heart like I have very.
Sensual. Tangible.
Yeah. Sensual experiences with my

(37:50):
emotions. Yeah.
And and so like if you're thinking of, you know, OK, these
notable moon placements, we're going to we've talked the ruler
detriment exalted and we're going to finish by fall.
But just if you want a little bit of, you know, just an
overview to help with that. The moon is ruled by Cancer or

(38:10):
the moon rules Cancer. The moon rules Cancer and what's
the opposite of that? Capricorn.
So it rules Cancer detriment. Capricorn.
The moon like if you were applying for the job of being
the moon sign Taurus is actuallydoing the best job even though
exactly it's like when the moon put out the job application it

(38:32):
it's cancer who put out the job application and Taurus is like
wow, I can do all of this and bring some more that you didn't
even know you wanted. So that's what exalted is when
you like bring new things that really complement that moon
energy. And then we have the opposite of
that, which is in fall and that would be Scorpio being the
opposite of Taurus. And so while the moon is sorry,

(38:57):
when chorus is bringing this, you know, very grounded energy
to the moon, Scorpio is bringinga very deep feeling energy, but
it is very, it's a much more closed off energy than the and
the moon needs to be moving through these emotions.
So we have a much more complex emotional world when we're

(39:18):
talking about Moon and Scorpio. Yeah, I would say that the
Scorpio moon, it's like, oh, we're feeling things.
OK, great. Let me slap on some fear, too.
Like Scorpio moon tends to catastrophize a little bit
rather than where Taurus is. Like, OK, I'm feeling these
things and I know that I'll get through it.
This wave will pass, and I will still be a rock in this ocean.
Scorpio is like, OK, I guess I'mjust gonna disintegrate into the

(39:42):
waves as well and then crash under and drown.
And you know, like there's a sense of potential overwhelm
when it comes to accessing your own emotions.
Scorpio is a water sign. So where, you know, maybe
Capricorn moon isn't as readily available with its emotions.
Scorpio moon feels its emotions. It's an element of it's the
element of expressing it and letting it out in a healthy way

(40:06):
or allowing the emotion to move rather than like holding on to
it as truth from there on out. Yes, because of like that
catastrophizing energy that you mentioned and because of
Scorpio's ability to feel thingsso deeply, to really like they
get to the root of something. They have this like exceptional

(40:26):
depth to them. But I always think of Scorpio
Moon energy as the soda bottle that it's shaken up, shaken up,
shaken up. And so they are so fearful, like
you said, to open that bottle because they don't want to
explode. They feel that their emotions
are too much and it's so it's a journey of doing the to the soda

(40:48):
bottle to let a little bit out, a little bit out.
And actually when you do that a little bit out of time, it's not
gonna explode. And if it does a little bit,
it's, you know, the people like your close people are like,
yeah, no, I feel those things too.
It's to have the I feel like, but it feels.
So big for a Scorpio moon. Exactly.
That's, that's what I was gonna say In my experience with the
Scorpio moons in my life, when they do share something, they're

(41:11):
close. People are like, oh, it's OK.
Like, I feel that too. But up until the point of
actually expressing it, it is. This is a deep, dark feeling
that I don't want to name because I can't actually there's
like. Shame around.
It yes, exactly there's shame because because Scorpio so
values like the secrecy and the the like sneaky privacy that

(41:34):
it's like to share these big emotions goes completely against
what's Scorpio does so well thatit's like wait to share this out
loud and to have people see it. That feels way too big.
That feels like the soda bottle that's going to explode.
I will say I feel like I have a quasi Scorpio moon because of my

(41:55):
Scorpio nadir. So like I have the best moon
exaltation sign, but then I alsohave this sort of like semi fall
moon energy too, where the nadir, which is kind of another
placement of your inner world and you know, very much
connected to the moon and its energy, which we do have an
episode out on the deer in mid heaven.
If you're curious. I do have that in Scorpio, which

(42:17):
is the opposing energy. So I I relate very deeply to
Scorpio moons and they are some of my favorite people in this
world because not only do our moons oppose one another, so
there's just this kinship and this understanding of one
another, but I can understand where they're coming from
because my nadir is also in Scorpio and there is just this
element of like, if I share this, then it's out forever.

(42:39):
It's like it can be an emotion for just now, right?
And I think that's kind of a huge lesson that Scorpio moons
have to learn, that what you're feeling right now doesn't have
to be a forever feeling. Absolutely.
And I will throw in there, if you have your Moon in the 8th
house, you might relate to some of these feelings as well,
'cause in my experience, that's been a similar feeling to that

(42:59):
Scorpio Moon because we have Scorpio Moon or moon in the 8th
house. And yeah, there's, if if you're
curious about your specific moonsign, there's an episode for
that. You can go listen.
To yeah, definitely go check it out.
There's 10 episodes for it. Yeah, there's, there's interview
episodes as well to get some like first hand experience for
people who have that moon sign. But you know, that's also where

(43:20):
I I think about our, you know, former host Martha and her
Scorpio moon and my Capricorn moon and us being like the
detriment and fall moons just being like, man, emotions, huh?
Yeah, emotions. And then one of us is showing
big emotions. Do not make a big deal of it.
But then also like I'm here for you but in AI also don't have to

(43:43):
be looking at you. If you're crying, it was so
interesting with the trio of us.Like I remember when I would
share emotions, both of you guyswould take that approach of
like, OK, we're not going to we're not going to sit in the
emotion. We're going to talk about a
solution because we don't like to sit in emotion.
And I would have to communicate like, no, I need to be present
in this right now. And I just need it to be
acknowledged and heard. And I mean, as soon as I said
that, you guys were like, that'sdifferent.

(44:05):
We'll do it that way, sure. But it's that I feel like it's
such a testament to our moon placements.
It's so true. I feel like that detriment and
fall moon. It's like, all right, we have we
either don't want to make it toobig because we don't want to
explode it. And we also need to make the
sharing of these emotions productive.
And so it's kind of. Like it's either super important

(44:26):
with Scorpio moon or like Nope not important at all Capricorn.
Yep. I feel like it's like a way of,
it is a way of making, oh man, freaking Capricorn moon, like
making it productive. It's like, all right, well, if
I'm going to share this, yeah, we got to do something about it
because we don't like sitting with these feelings.
And then Scorpio moon is like, if I'm going to open this, like

(44:48):
it's because it needs to be opened or I I'm going to hide it
forever to the point where I forget I ever felt that.
Facts but also thank you so muchfor listening.
Let us know where your moon signis if you related to this, if
you have any of your of these notable moon placements or if

(45:08):
you have other moon placements and you want to let us know what
sign they're in and how you relate to it and yeah, please go
listen to your moon episode. We love.
I mean, that was such like, oh so early days so.
That would be fun to go back and.
Listen. That was like, that was when you
and Martha were coming on the podcast, like was during the
moon season. So you have a couple of moon
signs with OG and then you'll get into Martha coming on board,

(45:31):
me coming on board and then it was it's all history.
And the firestorm. Yeah, I know.
Yeah. Well, this has been great.
We have other episodes out like we said, if you also want just a
brief overview of Planetary energies, we have back to
basics. We have the inner planets and
then the outer planets episode. So feel free to go listen to
that. For just some basic overview of

(45:53):
what all the planets do, we've got seasons of the sun through
now we are in the Jupiter season.
So all of the personal planets have an episode.
You can you can make a playlist for yourself of all of your
personal planet placements, which is a fun thing that you
could do. So thanks for being here.
Thanks for sharing, you know, with friends, with anybody who,

(46:13):
you know, appreciates astrology. Thanks for interacting with us.
And don't forget to like, review, subscribe all the
things. And yeah.
So maybe why did we talk about the moon in your chart today?
Because the stars made us do it.
