Sarah is excited to be sharing another special interview as she had the opportunity to record an episode with one of her real-life close friends, Megan Bomar.

⚠️ Before you listen, we do want to give you a trigger warning for this episode. Murder and crime are discussed in this conversation. ⚠️

Megan is originally from Iowa, but after attending Grand Canyon University, she decided to plant roots in Arizona. Raised in the Catholic faith, Megan became a Christian in high school and has walked closely with the Lord ever since. She now works as a middle school special education teacher and has been a regular part of the Desert Springs community for the past five years.

Megan met Sarah through a Connect Group shortly after college, when she took on a personal challenge to meet five new people for coffee, something that led to an unexpected and lasting friendship. Around that time, a friend from college tried to set Megan up with a guy named Tate over FaceTime. What began as a lighthearted moment quickly turned into something deeper, and before long, Megan and Tate were talking non-stop. Their connection grew, even as Megan was preparing to spend time teaching in Thailand. They were married in November 2019.

Like many newlyweds, their first year of marriage came with its challenges, but it was also filled with joy, fun adventures, meaningful conversations, and intentional time spent deepening relationships with friends and family.

Then, on November 29, 2020, Megan’s life changed forever. Late that Sunday night, Tate told her he was going to help a friend who was struggling. What followed was a heartbreaking series of events that ultimately led to Tate’s tragic death. In the days that followed, Megan began to uncover pieces of his story she hadn’t known, and within 72 hours, she was faced with the devastating reality that she had become a widow at just 27 years old.

We’re deeply grateful for Megan’s courage and vulnerability in sharing this part of her story. Her journey over the past three years is a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness. As she shares how she has leaned into the Lord and embraced the support of her community, you’ll be moved by the depth of her faith and the ways God has continued to lead and sustain her.

Megan also offers practical and compassionate advice for anyone walking through grief, while Sarah shares thoughtful insight on how to support a grieving friend. We pray that Megan’s story will be an encouragement to many and that God will continue to carry her through this chapter of her life.
