Dr. Tammy has a fascinating and troubling discussion with expert and advocate Jackie Rotman about digital censorship and how the sexual health and pleasure of women, and genders other than male, continue to be discriminated against on social media and other advertising platforms - And why it matters.

OUR GUEST

Jackie Rotman is the Founder and CEO of the Center for Intimacy Justice . CJI fights Meta’s discriminatory censorship of sexual information for women and people of unrepresented genders. In 2022 Jackie led an investigation that was published in The New York Times and 80 other media outlets, revealing that ALL of the 60 womens's health businesses interviewed or surveyed, ads were rejected on Facebook and Instagram. Within months of the investigation Meta changed several of its global advertising policies toward sexual health.

Jackie holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, and BA in Public Policy from Stanford. She speaks around the world on topics including digital censorship of sexual and reproductive rights, and other issues at the intersections of sexuality and technology. She regularly briefs US Senators, state Attorneys General, and other technology and human rights leaders on the findings of CIJ’s investigations.

Jackie’s 2019 investigative op-ed “Vaginas Deserve Giant Ads, Too,” was published in the New York Times Opinion. She has also written creative nonfiction for Boston Globe Magazine.
