Our musings take a playful turn as we dance around the more serious topics, leaving politics behind to embrace the fun and quirky moments, like our fond memories of co-host Lily's unique brand of nonsense. We sprinkle in updates on fascinating weather patterns and offer a light-hearted pause that celebrates the value-for-value model supported by wonderful listeners like you.

Gear up for a whirlwind of technological wonders, from XPeng's futuristic flying car to Amazon's smart glasses for delivery drivers. We ponder the future while keeping an eye on safety advancements in battery technology and sharing some global earthquake insights. Whether it’s a massive Stargate replica in Ohio or innovative podcasts like David Duchovny’s "Fail Better," we’ve got a week’s worth of fascinating tales that promise to entertain and engage. Hey, this is Bruce from theUgly Quacking Duck Podcast.

Sunny (00:24):
And I am Sunny with the Ugly Quacking Duck Podcast.
And I am Sonny with the UglyQuacking Duck Podcast.
Hello everybody.

Bruce (00:32):
Hello Sunny.
I'm glad to have you aboardtoday with me on this new
episode.

Sunny (00:37):
Well, thank you, I'm glad to be here and you still have
your mic a little bit hot.

Bruce (00:45):
Okay, well, let me crank it down just a bit.
Okay, Hang on just a second.
All right, there we are.
We cranked it down just a hair.
I think it sounds better.
What do you think?

Sunny (00:58):
Yeah, I think you sound better.
You was giving me a little bittoo much air noise.

Bruce (01:06):
Oh well, okay, Well, we'll see what this does.
We'll let the listeners, ourfaithful listeners, tell us what
they think.
But yeah, I jacked it up alittle bit hotter, see what I
can do with that.
But I turneded it up a littlebit hotter, see what I could do
with that.
But I turned it back down alittle bit.

(01:28):
So it's a little bit hotterthan normal, but a little bit
less than it was when we came onboard.
But anyway, everyone, we'reglad to have you aboard on our.
What is this?
30th episode Woo-woo.

Sunny (01:46):
Oh boy, 30.
What's that mean?
Do we get a special prize?

Bruce (01:56):
No, I don't think.
Do you want a special prize?

Sunny (02:02):
Uh yeah, I want a special something.

Bruce (02:10):
Well.

Sunny (02:10):
I'll have to try to figure special something.
Well, there you go.
It should always be for me.
Oh, touchy-touchy.

Bruce (02:24):
No, I just don't want to get started with that kind of
stuff.
I want to do a good show.

Sunny (02:31):
Oh well, what's a good show to you?

Bruce (02:37):
Well, it's funny that you happen to say that, because I
wanted to go back and revisitour focus.
In fact, I think I'm going tocall the episode Back to Our
Focus.
What do you think about that?

Sunny (02:53):
I think you're a little bit goofy, but hey, I'll roll
with it.

Bruce (02:59):
Well, it's mighty nice of you to roll with it.

Sunny (03:03):
Well, isn't that what I'm here for?

Bruce (03:07):
I'm not sure what you're here for, but hey, I'm glad
you're here because I need thecompany and since Lily's not
here because she's back inschool all the time isn't that
funny how that works.
It helps to have you here to,you know, voice your opinion,
even though I don't always agreewith it, but we're here today.

(03:30):
It's Friday, the 15th ofNovember.
We're in the Midwest andSouthern Illinois, to be exact,
and it's beautiful outside.
The leaves are turning quite abit.
It's been rainy and gray andnasty for several days, but

(03:52):
today it is sunny.
We got quite a bit of mud andrain puddles in the yard, but
today's a lot better day.
Yay, there's always a betterday, hopefully, and it's right
now, 2.42 as I'm recording this.

(04:14):
So if you're a subscriber tothe webpage, you'll get this
here tonight probably, butotherwise you'll be getting it
probably Sunday nights, when Inormally put the episode out yes
that's exactly what I'm saying, and according to the weather

(04:43):
app on my phone, it is 57degrees outside.
I would tell you what it here ishere at the house, but my uh
sensor for the temperature inthe studio has went out, so all
I got now on that readout is theinternal in-the-house

(05:04):
temperature in the studioactually, and it's 71 in here
today.
Woo-woo, woo-woo.

Sunny (05:13):
It is nice, but it's almost too hot.
I think I'll go out, run in themud, puddle and come back in.
You want to put my mic on again?

Bruce (05:24):
No, if you go out and get muddy, you're not coming back
in the studio.

Sunny (05:30):
Oh, you're such a party pooper.

Bruce (05:33):
Yep, that's me.
My name is Party Pooper, butanyhow, it's a nice day 57
degrees.
I would get up and go in thereand see what the temperature
shows on the other sensor, butnope, I'm just going to stay
here and do the podcast.
What do you think?

Sunny (05:55):
oh, you're being lazy now .

Bruce (05:58):
You're such a bum oh, I'm the biggest bum of all yeah,
you got that right.

Sunny (06:06):
Yeah, sure you are.
Ha ha ha.
You ought to sing a song aboutbeing the biggest bum of all.

Bruce (06:16):
Well, I would try, but I don't want to bore our listeners
to death and scare everybodyaway.

Sunny (06:27):
Well, okay, so back to what you was talking about, back
to your focus, or our focus, somebody's focus?

Bruce (06:40):
All right.
Well, as I'm sitting heredrinking my hibiscus tea and
trying to relax, it's come to methat that's exactly what we
started the podcast for is togive me the opportunity to shout

(07:03):
out to everybody and hopefullyto get a group of people that
would listen to our podcast.
You know, I always wanted to doa radio show and play a little
music, do a little talk, play alot more music, do a little talk
and, uh, the podcast kind offits that.

(07:24):
But it's kind of hard to playmusic because you've got to go
hunt up music that's free toplay and it's hard enough for me
to get time to put together apodcast, so I don't do much
music.
Now there is more and more musicwhere there's artists that are

(07:45):
starting to adapt and accept thevalue-for-value type of pay,
which is a V for V, which Ireally believe in that and I
accept that.
But that's why I don't put noextra stuff in behind a free

(08:06):
paywall plus.
I ain't got time to do that,but I probably won't ever do
that.
I will, uh, rely on the value.
If I got any value, if anybodyfinds anything great listening
to me, then they can reward mewith help, ideas, financial

(08:28):
rewards.
I mean any of that works, butthat's the way a lot of the
artists now are doing and theyhave a way that they can accept
payment for their music, which Ithink is going to help the
podcast and the other peoplethat want to do that establish a

(08:50):
relationship with themindependent artists, so we may
have more music come out.
It may take a little bit longer, but I think it's going to
happen.

Sunny (09:01):
Oh well, yay.

Bruce (09:04):
Say that again, yay.
Say that again, yay.
All right, yeah, that's eitherhere or there, though, but
that's not even on the point Iwas trying to make.
I got sidetracked.
The point I was trying to makeis that I started out with a

(09:25):
podcast just to have fun, andthe goal was to talk about
things and joke around and goofoff so that people would kind of
forget their problems.
You know, because you turn onthe TV and you see not news that

(09:45):
you want to see.
I mean, it's kind of garbagenews where they're making
everybody feel miserable andyou're dreading life, you're
hating life actually, and youturn on any kind of radio and
you hear that kind of stuff.
A lot of the podcasts are doingthat now and it's become popular

(10:10):
.
They're talking about, you know, murders and all kinds of stuff
, and people are so addicted tothat stuff.
And you go on TikTok and it'sthe same way.
They're talking aboutconspiracies.
Now, I really like conspiracies, don't get me wrong.
But you have to take a breakfrom all that stuff, because

(10:32):
what happens is it affects theway you think and you start
thinking negatively and believeit or not if the whole world

(10:57):
thinks negative and getsdepressed and scared and grouchy
or whatever the side effect is,then the whole world's going to
turn that way.
There's no any way else it'sgoing to go.
But if we break from that everynow and then clear our mind I
mean that's why people do poetry.
I mean there's so many thingsto do and definitely a belief in
a higher power, the creator, isdefinitely a way out of that.

(11:24):
But anyway, I do a podcast so Ican have fun.
It's kind of like a hobby, andso I can give everybody an
opportunity to think aboutsomething else.
You know, maybe a joke, maybeour nonsense.

Sunny (11:42):
Who you calling nonsense?
I'm not nonsense, I'm notnonsense, I'm perfect sense.

Bruce (11:49):
Okay, perfect sense.
Do you know what that means?

Sunny (11:54):
No, it just sounds good.

Bruce (11:56):
Yeah, it does sound good.
Okay, we have Sonny on boardtoday and he's perfect sense.
So tune in next week and we'llhave Sonny on board with perfect
sense.

Sunny (12:10):
Oh boy, you just had to rub my nose in it, didn't you?

Bruce (12:15):
Oh, I did for sure.
But anyhow, the point being is,we carry on like that and
there's a lot of people whodon't want to take part in that,
and that's all right, go on.
But if you do like a little bitof a break and a little bit of
silliness, then stick with us.

(12:36):
That's what we do.
We're here, we may tune in to alittle bit of news, like for
earthquakes and stuff like thatand uh, just to bring up your
awareness.
You know storms, but we're goingto try to stay away from most
politics and most, uh, nationalgarbage, because they're just

(13:01):
building up fear betweencountries and between peoples
and, whether you believe it ornot, we're all built the same.
We all bleed, we're all gonnadie, we all have kids and we
have cares and worries.
So we need to concentrate onthat and just have a little bit

(13:23):
more fun, because this life isshort and you take the fun away,
all you've got is slavery,hatred, non-mercy.
So enough of that.
It's been too serious for thelast five minutes and I don't
want to have that anymore.

Sunny (13:49):
Oh boy, I don't either, let's have fun, All right.

Bruce (13:51):
Well, I think we could have fun, but I don't know, so
anyway, that's what the podcastis more about just goofing off
and I like to goof off BecauseI'm the biggest bum of all.

Sunny (14:07):
You got that right.
We're going to call Bruce Bumor Bum Bruce, hmm.

Bruce (14:17):
Ha, ha ha.
Hmm, I like that.

Sunny (14:22):
Do you now?
I actually did something youlike.

Bruce (14:26):
Yeah, but don't rub it in .
I don't want everybody to knowit.

Sunny (14:33):
We're on a podcast.
You're recording.
Everybody's going to know it.

Bruce (14:42):
Good point, hang on.
I'm going to take a sip of myhibiscus tea with honey.
Mmm, and that noise was meslamming my teacup down on the
table with a microphone in it.
It rung.

Sunny (15:04):
It did it rung.
It did it rung.
A hard one.
Yeah, you know what we need, bruce, seriously.

Bruce (15:14):
Uh no.

Sunny (15:16):
Tell me we need a bell.
We start the podcast with abell Bing.

Bruce (15:24):
Yeah, I kind of like that idea A mechanical bell, not an
electronic synthesized bell, buta mechanical bell that goes
bing and you can hear it vibrate.
That's a good idea.

Sunny (15:39):
Well, I told you, I'm smart and I come up with good
ideas.

Bruce (15:45):
Well, let's don't exaggerate now.

Sunny (15:48):
Uh, what's exaggerating about that?
I'll tell you what.

Bruce (15:56):
Okay, tell me what.
I did, I'll tell you what Okay, well, anyway, I miss Lily.
What okay, well, anyway, I misslily.
Lily really throws in a littleextra nonsense every now and
then and it's kind of fun, butanyhow, it's been hard to get

(16:17):
her on and I'm gonna quitwhining and go back to the
podcast.
This episode is brought to youby Um us.
Yeah, brought to you by us,because we have no sponsors.
We don't do sponsors right now,we just do value for value.

(16:38):
So what that means is all thisequipment that I run and time
that I take is paid for by anyvalue you guys see in the show
and you present to me, okay, andI present the show back to you.
So there you go.
That was the advertisement forthe Ugly Quacking Duck podcast.

Sunny (17:06):
Oh, boy, you like doing that, don't you?

Bruce (17:12):
Well, I'm kind of, it's kind of funny.
Anyhow, today, episode 30.
Let me get my paper, let's seewhat are we going to do.
Let's talk a little bit aboutthe weather that happened last.

(17:32):
When was it?
Last Friday?
Yeah, last Friday, which wasNovember the 8th and the 9th,
2024.
Let's get precise 2024.

Sunny (17:48):
2024.

Bruce (17:56):
Thank you for that.
But anyway, in the Rockies, colorado and northeastern New
Mexico they had a winter storm, buddy.
They got some snow.
Did anybody see that on TikTokand on YouTube where they got
that snow?
It looked rough.

(18:17):
I wonder if that was theirfirst snow this year.
I don't know.
I didn't catch that, but I didcatch the big snow and trucks
getting off the road and stuff.
Yeah, that's what we've gotcoming, guys.
It's been a actually prettyrainy here, probably because of

(18:40):
that snowstorm moving overtowards the east and turning
into rain and rain and more rain, and that's what we had last
week Yuck, and there's also ahurricane in the Gulf once again
.
But it kind of what they saidspun out, turned into a tropical

(19:03):
storm, went up towards thecoast and then turned around and
left.
Yay, I like that.
I like it when they do that.

Sunny (19:15):
You like it when they do what?

Bruce (19:19):
I like it when they disappear.
It's no good when they getstronger and then they hit the
coast.

Sunny (19:27):
Oh, I see what you mean.
Like Helena, I think that'swhat they called it.

Bruce (19:35):
Yeah, exactly like that and so many others.
But you know, now that youmention that, I'd like to bring
back our prayer list and if youdon't believe in praying,
believe in positive thoughts.
Take a moment out, close youreyes and think positively if

(19:59):
you're not going to pray.
But we want to pray for thesepeople again the ones in hawaii
that nobody even mentionsanymore, and the ones in north
carolina, and the ones inflorida, and there's so many
more, and there's been a uhsouth america has been hit, and

(20:20):
then there's earthquakes, and sopray for and be positive.

Sunny (20:27):
Okay, this is the ugly quacking duck podcast, and I'm
out, just kidding well, you'reout of there, all right way out
of there, but we're stillbroadcasting or recording, or
whatever you call it.

Bruce (20:46):
Yeah, whatever you call it, we're still doing it, and
I've got a little bit of tealeft, so hey, we're doing good.
Wait a minute Time to take asip.

Sunny (21:01):
You know you could not be so loud and obnoxious.

Bruce (21:09):
Yeah, I could be Interesting point, but hey,
speaking of loud and obnoxiousand I don't know why, that
reminded me, reminded of me.
But uh, if you guys ever seen xfiles, then there is um and you

(21:29):
liked it and you was interestedin it.
I run across a podcast by davidde confini do.
I can't pronounce it, nevercould pronounce his name very
well, but he has a podcast.
Let me look it up.
It is called fail f-a-i-l.

(21:51):
Fail better, and he uhinterviews um people uh mostly
popular people and uh they, theytalk about their failures
basically, and he's come tounderstand that you fail more

(22:12):
than you succeed and we need tolearn to deal with failure in
order to succeed.
And it was interestinglistening to him talk.
But what caught my eye and myear is on another show they were
talking about him interviewinggillian anderson, which on the x

(22:37):
.
So I immediately went andsubscribed to that podcast and
then when that episode come out,I was able to listen to it and
I enjoyed it.
So I'm going to give a shoutout anybody who likes the

(23:01):
X-Files or like the X-Files orhowever you want to say that,
look up that Fail better andthen subscribe and you can
listen to all those episodesthere have been several.
Episode 24 is the one withGillian Anderson.

(23:22):
So there you go, a little bitof information for you today to
take home, and and.
And.

Sunny (23:37):
Okay, I'm not playing this game, but that sounds
pretty cool.
When did you listen to that?
I didn't get to hear it.

Bruce (23:44):
Well, I listened to it in the car going to work on lunch
break and in my car, or actuallymy truck, and then on the way
home and I finished it off onthe way home, I think, and, like
I said, it was pretty good.
I enjoyed it.
I could have enjoyed more.

(24:05):
He has a paywall that you cansubscribe to and get more
information and a longer podcast, but I didn't want to do that.
I don't know how much that was.
So anyway, there's that.

Sunny (24:26):
Oh, there's that.
Oh, there's that.
Yeah, I'm going to pay to getmore.
Isn't that the American way?

Bruce (24:35):
Oh, it is so much, so, yeah, anyway, I would recommend
that to you guys and, if youlike it worth paying for the
extra, do it Because, like Isaid, there's not very many
things that you can enjoy inthis world and he's not it
doesn't sound like he's, youknow, contributing to the

(24:58):
negative functions of the world.

Sunny (25:17):
Functions of the world he's actually talking about some
of the failures of him andthese other guests have went
through and it's good, that'sall say all right, yay, thanks
for that.
Uh promo.
I bet you're not getting paidfor that, are you?

Bruce (25:30):
no, not at all, but anyway, I did because I like to
show.
I do most of this stuff becauseI like to show, you know yeah,
is that why you do the sweetwater junk stuff recommendations
?

Sunny (25:48):
whatever you call that, You're not going to call it
advertising because, you don'tget paid.

Bruce (25:57):
That's right.
I don't get paid.
No, I do it because they'vetreated me well and I've got
some really good equipment fromthem.
In fact, this is the pod micfrom them and I like the way it
sounds.
I finally got it tuned in.
I've got it on a new mic armand it works really well.

(26:20):
The arm was kind of stiff whenI first unboxed it.
Well, the arm was kind of stiffwhen I first unboxed it and I
had to loosen the screws to getit to be able to move.
It was really really stiff, butit works really good.
I like it.
And then the other mics thatI've got.
Let me turn it on.
Hang on just a second, allright, and this is the other

(26:49):
microphone I've got um on mydesk.
I don't run it very much, buthello, everybody, I'll go back
to my podcast pod mic.
All right, there we are.
We're back to the pod mic.
And then lily has a newmicrophone that we got from them
quite a while back into thesummer I think she uses, and
that's a nice mic it's.
It's not very expensive, it'slike 70 bucks but it has a USB

(27:16):
also with it and the XLR.
So I've got the USB hooked upto my computer so I can do
videos when I do them.
You know, know rumble and stuff.
I haven't done any in quite awhile, but that's nice.
I like that mic.
She sounds really good in thatmic.
So I again I think we've talkedabout this too much.

(27:40):
I think I bring it up everyepisode, but I'm happy to have
some decent equipment.
It's nice that old equipment.
It worked.
It worked well.
I used to use it when I wasdoing the episodes in the garage
.
But it took a lot of work to dothat.

(28:01):
And now with the and that waswith a radio shack mixing board
and I didn't have any equalizersI had to do all that post and
it was quite a lot of work.
And then I got the TascamMixCast 4 and these extra
microphones and it made a bigdifference.

(28:23):
But anyway, I'm gonna shut upnow.

Sunny (28:26):
Well, it's a bad time.
Wow, you're talking about goingon, and on, and on and on.

Bruce (28:38):
Yeah, what about it?

Sunny (28:41):
Well, I don't know.
Why are you picking on me?

Bruce (28:48):
Okay, I didn't know I was , but anyhow, that's the
microphone.
All started from the Sweetwaterthing and so I recommend them
because they've dealt with mereally well.
I was able to send themicrophone back and get a

(29:09):
replacement after I realized itwas doing something weird and I
don't.
I really don't know if it's amic or what, but this one don't
do that.
So must have been the mic.
But uh, they took care of me,no questions asked, and, um,
they always send candy in withthe shipments.
They're very well shipped andboxed and wrapped.

(29:30):
So, anyway, have you guys allout there got tired of hearing
me talk about Sweetwater?

Sunny (29:38):
I think they have.
Why don't you go on tosomething else?

Bruce (29:45):
Okay, what are we going to go on to?

Sunny (29:51):
Um, what are we going to go on to Wow?

Bruce (29:58):
I know, I really know.

Sunny (30:01):
What do you know?

Bruce (30:04):
Well, I know that it's time for a joke of the day.

Sunny (30:10):
Oh boy.

Bruce (30:14):
And guess what?
Before we start the joke of theday.

Sunny (30:19):
Oh, guess what?
Let me see French fries.

Bruce (30:26):
French fries.
How did you come up with that?
I'm not sure how you did that, but you heard what I was going
to say.
That's weird.
Stop that.

Sunny (30:41):
Oh, it bothers you, huh, getting the word in there when
you're trying to talk.
Yeah.

Bruce (30:51):
Okay, well, anyway, what I was going to say is I found
the boo button.
Actually, I found the sound, recorded it on the boo button.
So listen to this.
Are you ready?
Boo?

Sunny (31:10):
Oh my gosh, you got a boo button back.

Bruce (31:14):
Yep, I did Boo button.
Back.
Here we go again.
Boo, Boo.
I like the laugh button too.
That's why we should feel allthe time.
But anyway, I just wanted todrive everybody crazy.
I don't know what happened tothat thing.

(31:36):
We had it on there originallyand the other day, when I was
getting ready to hit it, it wasgone and I thought what the heck
happened.
Now I do remember gettingseveral of them erased back
early spring I think it was thisyear and I had to go in and put
some new ones in.

(31:57):
So I'm thinking that's when ithappened, but I don't.
I can't believe that this wholesummer and fall I didn't notice
it was gone.
I don't know what I hit when Iwanted to say boo, but it wasn't
that one.
But I may have mentioned it inthe past and forgot.

Sunny (32:21):
Oh yeah, you forget easy.

Bruce (32:27):
What'd you say?
I forgot.

Sunny (32:29):
Touche.

Bruce (32:34):
Yeah, okay, enough of that, let's go for a joke of the
day.
Are you ready?

Sunny (32:42):
Yeah, let me read it okay .

Bruce (32:45):
Okay, I'll let you read it.
Here goes, sonny.

Sunny (32:49):
Yeah, here comes Sonny.
What do you mean?
Uh, you better turn the page.
I don't see it.
Okay, I see it's at the bottomof the page.
No wonder you hid it from me,so I wouldn't see it.
But anyway, here we go, fellasand ladies and everybody in

(33:14):
between, for the joke of the day.
Where did people hang outduring medieval times?

Bruce (33:26):
Where did people hang out during medieval times?
Hmm, interesting Pubs.
They hung out in pubs.

Sunny (33:39):
That's not even funny.
What was you thinking?

Bruce (33:44):
I don't know.
You tell me the answer.
Where did people hang outduring medieval times?

Sunny (33:55):
Well, at nightclubs, of course, that's night N-I-G-H-T.
See, get it, uh-huh, get it.

Bruce (34:12):
All right, and that wasn't a bad joke at all.
No, that's one of those dadjokes that everybody thinks is
dumb.

Sunny (34:22):
I like them.

Bruce (34:24):
Yeah, you would hey you told it.
You wrote it down.

Sunny (34:35):
Well, yeah, you got me there, yeah, so you wrote it
down, I read it and you call itfunny.

Bruce (34:41):
Well, there you go.
See, I told you, I knew what Iwas talking about.

Sunny (34:51):
Oh my gosh.

Bruce (34:52):
I don't know how the listeners stick around.
I do because they're doinghousework and other things while
they're listening to us.

Sunny (34:59):
Well, they better be.

Bruce (35:07):
Gosh, I think they'll go nuts if they're doing anything
else.

Sunny (35:13):
Well, they probably have to be nuts to listen to us,
because we're nuts.

Bruce (35:18):
Um, okay, yeah, Okay, anyhow.
Last sip of tea.
Hang on just a second.
All right, you know what?
I'm going to try somethingdifferent on this episode and
we'll see how it's accepted.
But we're going to do, you knowhow we always do, the
earthquake.

(35:39):
Seven-day report.

Sunny (35:41):
Yeah, I like guessing when we do that.

Bruce (35:45):
All right.
Well, we do a seven-day reportfor the earthquake, so I thought
let's do a seven-day corner andwhat we're going to do with
that.

Sunny (35:55):
A corner, really A corner , seven-day corner.
Can you get any more goofy?

Bruce (36:04):
Uh, yeah, I can get more goofy, but I won't.

Sunny (36:09):
Why did you call it Seven Day Corner?

Bruce (36:13):
Well, I don't know, to be honest, but anyway, we're going
to call it Seven Day Corneruntil maybe one of our listeners
comes up with a better idea.
But what I want to do is takethe last seven days and just
report on some activity, and youknow I'm not picking politics

(36:39):
or desperate or downer type news.
I wanted to pick someinformation that stuck out in my
mind and stuff that I'm, youknow, interested in.
So I went through news for thelast seven days and picked out

(37:02):
some highlights, and you knowI'm going to report on those for
the seven-day corner.

Sunny (37:08):
Okay, Well, that kind of fits, but surely you can come up
with a better name.

Bruce (37:17):
Well, maybe you ought to come up with a better name
instead of griping about mine.

Sunny (37:23):
Oh no, that's your job, Mine's just to complain about
you.

Bruce (37:30):
And you do that so well.

Sunny (37:34):
I know I've learned from the best.
Bruce is my master guys, whendo you think I get it?

Bruce (37:44):
All right, don't tell everything.
You know Anyhow.
So which do you want?
You want to do the seven-daynews pop-ups?
Call it that.
No, I don't know.
We'll have to work on that.
You want to do that first, ordo you want to do the earthquake
report?

Sunny (38:05):
I don't know.
Let's do the seven-day pop-upnews report corner.

Bruce (38:16):
Okay, and then we'll leave the earthquakes last,
because that's what we normallydo, so we'll just leave them
last.
How does that sound?

Sunny (38:27):
I think that's what I said.
Listen, I'm going to get evenwith you.

Bruce (38:35):
How are you going to do that?

Sunny (38:39):
Don't ask because you don't want me to tell you.
On the recording.

Bruce (38:46):
I think I know you better .
Not, I'll be throwing you outthe door, I think.

Sunny (38:52):
I know you better not I'll be throwing you out the
door.
Oh, I'll wait till the end ofthe recording.

Bruce (38:58):
All right, enough of that , let's go on.
I've just wrote down a fewthings to hit, so the last seven
days, things that popped upinteresting to me.
I've got the notes.
Let's just start out.
Have you heard?
Have you heard what?
Go ahead, say it.

Sunny (39:19):
I don't want to say it.
Oh, come on, All right.

Bruce (39:29):
Have you heard what?
All right, thank you, sonny.
Have you heard that Amazon isworking on smart glasses for
their drivers?

Sunny (39:41):
Wait a minute.
Smart glasses Is that meant toget ABC 3429 right every time
and then the drivers just listento them?
Three, four, two, nine rightEvery time, and then the drivers
just listen to them.

Bruce (39:55):
Well, sort of.
Anyway, let me explain it.
Okay, amazon's working on smartglasses for their drivers
delivery drivers.
They want to give themturn-by-turn directions to help
shave off time for the delivery.
All right, okay.

(40:17):
So just picture this thedrivers they get in the van or
the truck, whichever they've got, and they slip on these glasses
they're probably tinted becausethey're going to be driving in
the sun a lot and they flip themon and they give them

(40:38):
directions to the first drop-offand they go zooming down the
road, turning there and turningthere, all by the directions of
the glasses, which sounds reallycool.
They know exactly where to gobecause it's got GVS in it, and

(40:58):
I'm just dreaming this up andthen a little boy or girl or
doggy or kitty runs in front ofthem, but they don't see it or
him or her, because they'relooking at the directions in the
glasses.
And then it's like splat.

Sunny (41:18):
Oh, that's morbid, Very morbid.

Bruce (41:23):
Oh yeah, it is.
But wow, are they really goingto stick glasses on people and
have them concentrate on wherethey're going with the glasses
so they can't pay attention towhere they're driving?
Come on really.

Sunny (41:41):
Well, they're not going to be looking at the directions
all the time, surely?

Bruce (41:50):
Oh no, they probably won't.
But they're going to be rightin front of their eyes.
They're not going to be able tostare away from them towards
the road like you do with a GPS.
You know, gps also has soundeffects.
That tells you turn right.
Oh, you turned the wrong.

Sunny (42:16):
You're going to have to make a U-turn, okay.

Bruce (42:24):
Yeah, anyway, amazon's working on that, so hey, that's
great, let's see what happens.
And anybody like Stargate?
Remember the show Stargate.
They had the original movie.
Then they come out with severaldifferent series and I'm not
going to try to quote them alland I didn't write them down.

(42:44):
I know I'm bad.

Sunny (42:47):
Yeah, you are, you're bad .

Bruce (42:50):
Anyhow, anyhow, stargate, that was a nice show.
I still watch it today.
But anyway, there is in Ohio Iblew that in Ohio a 50,000 pound
Stargate built out of concretewith an included dial home

(43:12):
device 50,000 pounds.

Sunny (43:17):
How did they come up with that?

Bruce (43:20):
Well, I think it was kind of an estimate, but they
figured how much concrete theyused and it come up to very
equivalent to 50,000 pounds.
That's heavy and it come up tovery equivalent to 50,000 pounds
.

Sunny (43:35):
That's heavy, yeah, that's heavy, heavy.

Bruce (43:38):
Anyway, it was a family.
Phil Ventura built it with hissons.
It's on private land so don'tthink about going out and
looking at it.
But he and his sons enjoyedwatching Stargate the movie and

(44:00):
the series and when they gotolder and was moving out and
going to college and stuff, hewanted to keep, I guess, the
romance of the show and the funthat he had with the boys alive
for at least one more summer.
So he got the idea and he gottogether with the boys and they
built a very expensive statue ofthe Stargate and it does

(44:27):
everything but work.
It looks just like itapparently.
I did see a picture of it andif anybody's been looking on the
Internet they've probably seenit too.

Sunny (44:40):
Okay, but it doesn't work right.

Bruce (44:43):
No, not that I know.
Well, maybe it does, and he'sjust not telling anybody because
he wants to go by himself.

Sunny (44:50):
Where does he go?

Bruce (44:53):
To other star systems, other universes.
Haven't you watched that show?

Sunny (45:00):
That's a dumb question.
What do you think, Bruce?

Bruce (45:05):
Okay, yeah, you probably haven't.
Anyway, we'll have to sit downand watch it sometime.
Yeah, you probably haven't.
Anyway, we'll have to sit downand watch it sometime.
But yeah, that seemed like avery expensive but fun family
outing for the summer.

(45:26):
I don't think the boys are homeanymore.
They've all got their own lives.
But he still goes out.
He said in the article he goesout and drinks coffee next to
the Stargate.

Sunny (45:44):
Pretty romantic sounding to me, Kind of weird man.
Sounds like something you'd do.

Bruce (45:49):
Uh, no, I wouldn't do anything like that.

Sunny (45:54):
Okay, right, yeah, uh-huh .

Bruce (45:59):
Mainly because I don't have enough money to put a
50,000 pound Stargate out in thebackyard.
What are you talking about?
People talking about me?

Sunny (46:07):
Yeah, they'd be talking all right, they'd be sending you
off somewhere.
People talking about me yeah, they'd be talking.
All right, they'd be sendingyou off somewhere.

Bruce (46:17):
Oh, no, all right, I lost my page.
See, I got notes.

Sunny (46:28):
You got notes.
I think you got nuts.
You're brain dead, Crazy.
What else can I say?
Oh insane.

Bruce (46:41):
All right.
Well, thanks for appreciatingmy logic and my craziness and
all that other stuff.
Anyhow, did you hear about myLittle Pony?

Sunny (46:52):
I didn't know you had a pony.

Bruce (46:54):
Not my pony, but it's a toy called my Pony.

Sunny (47:00):
Oh no, I didn't hear about it.

Bruce (47:03):
All right, the toy can't talk.
Today, the toy, my Little Pony, has been included, hello,
inducted into the National ToyHall of Fame.
How cool is that they got a ToyHall of Fame.
I didn't know that.

Sunny (47:23):
I didn't either, so what else is in there?
Oh, you would ask, I don't knowthat.
I didn't either, so what else?

Bruce (47:27):
is in there.
Oh, you would ask.
I don't know.
I was going to look it up and Iactually forgot.

Sunny (47:33):
Oh, you don't forget anything, remember.

Bruce (47:38):
Uh touche, okay, anyway, that's pretty cool, my Little
Pony.
Okay, anyway, that's prettycool, my Little Pony.
And I don't know what happensafter it gets inducted into the
National Toy Hall of Fame, butit did, yay.

Sunny (48:01):
Yay, all right, go on.

Bruce (48:05):
All right, you know what OpenAI is right.

Sunny (48:09):
Uh, that's supposedly artificial intelligence.

Bruce (48:15):
Very good, sonny.
Yeah, and there's a companycalled OpenAI.
I think it's run by Microscope, microscope, microscope and the
cat just crawled up, crawled upon my hang on wow, timmy yeah,

(48:36):
it was Timmy.
He jumped up on the mixer boardand hit the sound buttons and I
think he hit a couple of themat the same time.
It kind of startled me becauseI wasn't watching that.
I was watching out the windowwhile I talked and boom, there
it was, and wow.

Sunny (48:55):
Well, you needed a wake-up call.
You were starting to get boring.

Bruce (49:01):
Oh, whatever You're picking on me again.

Sunny (49:04):
Yep, I am picking on you and it's so much fun.

Bruce (49:11):
All right, well bah.

Sunny (49:14):
Well, bah yourself.

Bruce (49:17):
All right, let's just go on with the seven-day corner
stuff.
What do you think?

Sunny (49:22):
I don't like that name stuff.

Bruce (49:29):
What do you think?
Well, tough until somebodycomes up with a better one.

Sunny (49:33):
That's what we're calling it.
Seven-day corner.
Okay, well, okay, let's go.

Bruce (49:39):
all right, we better get this thing down and ready to go,
because we're going to go intoit.
I don't want to go over an hour.
We're getting close Anyhow.
Chinese EV maker XP XPing sorry, they debuted.

(50:00):
However, you say that a$280,000 flying car.
Wow, here they come, the flyingcars.
I bet we won't get any for awhile.

Sunny (50:14):
I don't need a flying car .

Bruce (50:17):
Yeah, we're not all like you though, but anyhow, 2,000.
Oh my, a two thousand two, two,oh my, get your stuff together
all right, we'll try that again.
A two hundred and eightythousand dollar flying car and
it's actually part of a combo.

(50:39):
It has a ground base unitcalled.
Are you ready for this?
It's called Mothership ReallyMothership and the other half is
the module.
The air module is what it'scalled, and it is basically the
flying car.
How cool is that?
I've seen some pictures of it.

(51:01):
It looked pretty neat.
Leave it up to the Chinese toget something up ahead of us.

Sunny (51:08):
Oh, you think we don't have flying cars?
Ha, yeah, okay.

Bruce (51:15):
Alright, maybe you're right.
Maybe a lot of those brightUFOs are actually people flying
around, but anyway, that's whatthey did.
So that's the end of my list.
I hope everybody liked thoselists.
Oh no, it ain't.
I got one more.
Are you ready?
Oh, one more, let's go.
Yay, yeah, why did you say that?

Sunny (51:40):
because we're done when you get that one more out of
here, Okay.

Bruce (51:46):
So anyway, researchers have developed a new algorithm
you ready for this?
That will tell them when alithium ion battery is about to
fail.
You know what happens when theyfail, right, yeah, things yeah,
that's right.
Things catch on fire, and Idon't know if that recorded or

(52:12):
not.
I don't know what happened.
My lights quit working.
Yeah, it means that thingscatch on fire when they fail.
They burn as they burn bad likea torch.
They burn, bad like a torch.
Anyway, they have figured out away to listen to the device and

(52:37):
they can tell with thatalgorithm if it's about to fail.
So that may be helpful in thefact that you're going to get a
chance to get rid of it.
What are you going to do?
Throw it out in the garbage?
No, or, if it's a car, run, butit's not going to stop it from
happening.
That's what they need to comeup with a way to stop the

(52:58):
battery from catching on fire.

Sunny (53:02):
Yeah, it's called preventive, I like that idea.
Yeah, it's called preventive, Ilike that idea.

Bruce (53:07):
Yeah, me too.
Let's prevent that stuff fromhappening.
But anyway, they got analgorithm now.
So there you go.
That is our seven-day corner.
All we need to do is do theearthquake report and we're done
, and we're almost done, period.
All right, you know what Ishould have done at the

(53:29):
beginning of our seven-daycorner?
I should have done this.
Yep, I totally forgot.
I had that button.
I have it programmed foranother podcast portion that I

(53:52):
used to do and I've not beenable to do it.
I may start using that, butanyhow, before we do the
earthquake thing, there is a newtropical storm down there by
Honduras.
It's going to be well, I don'tknow if it's a tropical storm.

(54:14):
They're saying it's going to bethis weekend and then it's
going to jump over and end up inthe Gulf with all the other
hurricanes positions, and nobodyknows what it's going to do
from there.
Most people think it's going tofizzle out, but some people
think it's going to get larger, maybe a four category and then

(54:40):
go into Florida.
So keep your eyes on it.
But let's don't worry about it,let's stay positive, right,
okay?
And then towards next week,we're supposed to get some rain
here in the Midwest and thensometimes, toward the end of the
month, they're saying we'resupposed to have below average

(55:01):
temperatures temperatures, and Idon't think they're talking
about average.
You know what we've had, youknow warm, but what normally is.
So that may be pretty cool ifthat's what happens, and I don't
mean cool while I mean cold, while anyway on with the show.

(55:22):
I have my report here, son, here sunny, would you like to
guess I would, I would, I wouldall right, I'll let you guess.
Hang on here for a minute.
All right, we did the last umseven days ago, um on-8-24, but

(55:45):
we didn't do that on our podcast, we actually did it on TikTok.
We did a short on TikTok.
I'm going to have to work onthat this weekend too, but so
I'll give you the numbers soeverybody knows what's going on.
All magnitudes on the 8th was1,555, which had went down from

(56:11):
the time before.
The 2.5 and over was 272, whichhad went up since the last one,
and the 4.5 and over was 94,and it had went up.
And what we have normally seenhappen that weekend, that when

(56:36):
the magnitude, all magnitudes,go down, 2.5 and the 4.5 go up,
but usually we have less 6.0 andover, we have more, you know,
like the fives and the fours, and that's what happened that
weekend.

(56:56):
Um, there's several smallearthquakes in the Midwest,
around the mid-Durad I can't sayit, I'm tongue-tied the New
Madrid Fault.
Sorry about that, folks.

Sunny (57:18):
You're not able to talk, you need to go get some drink,
you know, like whiskey orsomething like that.

Bruce (57:27):
You know I don't drink.

Sunny (57:30):
I know, but you know, it just sounded good for the
podcast.

Bruce (57:35):
No, it didn't sound good for the podcast.
I don't drink.

Sunny (57:40):
Oh, you drunk tea.
That means you drank something.

Bruce (57:46):
All right, I'm not going to argue with you.
We got to go over earthquakereports.
Are you ready?

Sunny (57:54):
Yes, I'm ready.

Bruce (57:56):
All right, so that was 11-8-24.
So today's the 15th.
Give me the seven-day numbers.
Are they higher, lower and whatare they?
Are you ready?
Let's do it.

Sunny (58:16):
All right, that doesn't work, but okay, I think they
went back up, so I don't knowwhat they were two weeks ago or
three, or whenever.
We did that last one before theother one, but I'm going to

(58:38):
guess 1750.

Bruce (58:43):
All right, a good guess.
I'm thinking they went up, soit actually went up.

Sunny (58:57):
It went up five, believe it or not, no way.
Five whole earthquakes.

Bruce (59:02):
Yep, it went up five.
It was 1555 on the 8th andtoday at four o'clock it was
1560.
And I'm going to write thatdown four o'clock, that way we

(59:32):
have a record.
When I wrote this down, um, Iactually stopped the uh
recording, went and got it freshoff the internet.
But yeah, we's at 1560 and the2.5 and over was 272.
Now remember the fullmagnitudes.
All of them went up.
It may not just went up only 5,but it went up.

(59:55):
But the 2.5 and over went down.
It was 272, and now it's 249.
The 4.5 was 94.
Now that one went down a numberthat was kind of weird, but it
was 4.5 is 93.
This time One number down.

(01:00:18):
But lo and behold, we had twoover 6.0 earthquakes.
Now that's getting prettydangerous.
Anything could be dangerous, like I said before.
That's why we report these.
But we had a 6.6 earthquake inPapua New Guinea.

(01:00:39):
That island gets hit all thetime and then we had a 6.8 in.
Now, forgive me, I'm going topronounce this wrong more than
likely.
But Bartolome Masua, Cuba and Iknow I murdered that name, but

(01:01:01):
it's in Cuba 6.8.
But it's in Cuba, 6.8.
Now we had a bunch of 5.8s and5.9s, but if they're under 6.0,
I don't report them because it'stoo much, but anyhow, that's
our earthquake report for theday.
I hope everybody enjoyed that.

Sunny (01:01:19):
Why are you doing that?

Bruce (01:01:21):
Because I like it.

Sunny (01:01:23):
Okay, but I don't think people like hearing you do that.

Bruce (01:01:28):
Well, how do you know You're not a people?

Sunny (01:01:32):
Oh, you're so mean.

Bruce (01:01:35):
Touche Got you back for all the other things you do to
me.

Sunny (01:01:40):
All right, let's call it even.

Bruce (01:01:43):
Well, since it's the end of the show, yeah, let's call it
even.

Sunny (01:01:48):
All right, we'll be good buddies after the show, but next
week, no, wait a minute.
We do it every two weeks.
Yeah, next time we do the show, look out, buddy.

Bruce (01:02:01):
Okay, that's fair.

Sunny (01:02:03):
I know it is.
I talk fair every day.

Bruce (01:02:10):
All right, I hope you enjoyed the show, Sonny.

Sunny (01:02:13):
I did.
This is a fun episode.
I actually liked this one quitea bit.
The only thing that was missingwas Lily.

Bruce (01:02:24):
Yep, you got that right.
It was a fun episode.
We covered a little bit morestuff than we normally do, which
gave us a variety, and wedidn't have Lily Bummer, but
otherwise it went really goodand I think we've spent enough
time.
I think we're over an hour.

(01:02:45):
I can actually go in and cutsome of our pauses and maybe get
it back to under an hour.
Maybe I don't know.
Anyway, let's say bye toeverybody.

Sunny (01:02:58):
Alright, I'm ready for it .
Are we going to do it together?

Bruce (01:03:02):
Yeah, let's do it together.
Let me say my spiel here.
Yeah, let's do it together.
Let me say my spiel hereEverybody, if you enjoy the show
