You ready, sonny?
Let's do it together.

Sonny (00:23):
I am.
Bruce (00:29):
All right, we're going to
say this one, two, three, hello
everyone.
Yeah, that was good, all right.
I like when we sync up and do agood welcome to for everybody,
and here we are again, and andit's been a week and I thought
we'd go ahead and do anotherpodcast.
(00:50):
Now we're getting close to theChristmas time and New Year's
time, so I may start making themshort to give me more time to
do other stuff, making themshort to give me more time to do
other stuff.
And I know last year and theyear before I put together, uh,
(01:13):
the shorts that I'd used onsocial media, put them all
together and I used that for mychristmas, new year's eve, in
between their podcast.
So I'll probably do that againand I think everybody's doing
that.
They call it different names, but I got one from Spotify
showing my podcast for the lastyear and I got one from
(01:37):
Buzzsprout showing my podcastfor the last year.
Sonny (01:43):
Wow, that's pretty cool.
That means you've donesomething for the last year.
Wow, that's pretty cool.
That means you've donesomething for the last year.
You are a big shot.
Bruce (01:52):
Well, let's not go that
far.
I've actually done a podcastfor the last few years, but I
don't consider that very big.
But anyhow, what was I saying?
Sonny (02:08):
You were saying how great
it is to have me aboard again.
Bruce (02:13):
Oh, I was, wasn't I?
Alright, Sonny, it's been goodto have you aboard Now shut up.
Sonny (02:18):
Hey stop.
Bruce (02:23):
Oh, okay, that was a
little bit uncalled for.
Sonny (02:26):
A little bit.
Wow, how do you say things likethat?
Oh well, I knew you was justkidding.
Bruce (02:35):
Yep, I was.
I just wanted to throw you offfor a minute or a second or
something like that.
Sonny (02:42):
Well, it didn't work.
I expect that nonsense from youevery day.
Bruce (02:50):
All right, well, that's
good, we're on board then.
Sonny (02:54):
What are you drinking
over there, Bruce?
Bruce (02:58):
I am drinking a
seven-brew hot cocoa.
I just got back from town and Iwanted to pick one of those up
on the way home so I couldconcentrate on my podcast, or I
should say our podcast.
Sonny (03:15):
Oh, thank you very much.
I think that's a first.
Bruce (03:20):
Well, I gave you credit.
I got your picture.
Well, it's not really yourpicture.
It was the one that we did ofthe skeleton duck on the podcast
for the co-host.
I need to take a new picture ofyou and put it on there, don't
I?
Sonny (03:40):
Oh yeah, that would be
great.
That way people can see howbeautiful I am.
Bruce (03:48):
Oh, a little big-headed,
are you?
Sonny (03:52):
No, I'm just telling the
truth.
Bruce (03:56):
All right.
Well, yeah, we need to do that.
I don't know when.
Today would have been a greatday.
It was sunny outside.
We could have went out, tookthat picture and got you on the
podcast on Buzzsprout's webpage.
For us, that would have beengreat.
Sonny (04:14):
Well, why didn't you?
Bruce (04:16):
Because I just now
thought of it.
Sonny (04:19):
Oh boy.
Well, I would like that.
Let's do it sometime.
Bruce (04:24):
Okay, we need to put that
in my little book the things we
need to do and we need to workon that.
That would be great.
I would love that.
I need to update your picture.
Probably need to update mine.
It's kind of old too.
It was when I was using thatcondenser mic from Rode, which
(04:45):
is still a good mic, but I'veswitched over.
Sonny (04:53):
I've got a different
microphone and I need to take a
picture of it.
Bruce (04:57):
Yeah, take a picture of
your messed-up studio.
Oh no, we won't do that, butyou know we won't do that.
So, sonny, how's your week been?
Sonny (05:08):
Well, it's been good.
A little rainy this week, colda few days, which I didn't mind,
but you sure griped about it?
Bruce (05:24):
Yeah, I guess I did.
I don't like the cold weatherand I don't like the gloomy rain
during cold.
It just really kind of puts mein a very blah mood.
This sunshine today has beengreat.
I got out and did a little bitand it just made me feel a whole
lot better.
I hate to see the sun set todaywell, you're gonna have to do
(05:49):
it soon.
Fuck up, buddy oh my, that's bad.
I guess I will, but I agreewith you, it's been a little bit
cold, but it warmed up the lastcouple days and today is
fantastic.
Um, let me give you exacttemperature.
Uh, real quick, it was around55 when I was in town.
(06:13):
Uh, 56 now.
What do you think about?
That's cool.
Sonny (06:20):
Actually, that's, warm.
Okay, you're right, that's warmso anyhow, onward with the show
, onward with the show.
I like repeating what you say.
(06:42):
I can tell A lot.
So, bruce, what do you have?
Bruce (06:53):
on the agenda for today.
Well, I don't have a whole lotto go over.
I wanted to bring up theearthquake report for the last
seven days and then I want tocompare it to our two weeks ago
to see if the pattern shows upthat we've been noticing because
we's doing every two weeksthere for a while, or if that
(07:14):
pattern is just gone but wedon't have any more big
earthquakes.
So I just want to.
I just want to do that and Igot got a few news shorts for
our news corner.
Seven Day News Corner.
Sonny (07:36):
I'm not sure you got that
name correct and I definitely
don't think I like it.
Bruce (07:46):
Okay, correct and
definitely don't think I like it
.
Okay, well, again, you come upwith a better name, or if our
listeners call in or text in,email us with a better name, we
may just go with that, but untilthen it's going to be called
the 7 Day News Corner.
There we go.
Sonny (08:12):
I don't think that's the
same, but whatever.
Bruce (08:16):
Just as long as we know
what we're doing.
Well, I can say that weprobably never know what we're
doing.
Sonny (08:24):
And you would probably be
right.
Bruce (08:29):
Anyhow, yeah, there's a
little bit of news out there
that we want to talk about.
There's a lot of news out there, all kinds of stuff going on,
but we don't want to govern onthat stuff.
We just want to pick some ofthe highlights, the stuff that I
fancy, and just go on fromthere.
Sonny (08:47):
All right, we can do that
.
Let's do that and keep it short.
We don't want to bore ourpeople to death.
Bruce (08:58):
Well, why not?
Maybe they have some houseworkthey want to do today or this
week and we give them somethingto listen to while they're
cleaning.
We don't have to be the mosthighlighted exciting podcast out
there.
We just need to hit a niche forour people that want to do a
(09:18):
little bit of listening whilethey do a lot of work.
Sonny (09:22):
Okay, I think that works
or sounds right work.
Bruce (09:24):
Okay, I think that works
or sounds right anyway, how
about let's do the earthquakereport, the seven day report,
right now, because I'm kind ofcurious to see what it looks
like and I haven't rolled it upyet, and then we'll go on to
something else.
Alright, that'd be fun, becauseI can guess I like, looks like,
and I haven't wrote it up yetand then we'll go on to
(09:45):
something else.
Sonny (09:45):
All right, that'd be fun
because I can guess.
I like guessing.
Bruce (09:52):
I know you do.
That's why I let you do it, andI hope our listeners will guess
right along with you and thinkof what they believe is
happening with the earthquakes.
And then you know, when we readthe totals off they'll have a
better idea.
So let's pause this for asecond and let me go do the
(10:13):
report.
Hang on everyone.
Okie, dokie, smoky.
I took a short break.
Hang on, let me move my box.
There we go.
I hope it didn't make any noise.
Yeah, we took a short break andgot the report together and now
(10:35):
we're going to play the game.
We are going to ask Sonny toguess.
Sonny to guess.
So, to set it up, on 12-8,which was seven days ago, I
think, or pretty close, we had2,465 all magnitude earthquakes,
(10:59):
2,465.
So, sonny, what do you thinkhappened to them today?
And take a guess at that number.
Sonny (11:15):
All right, I can do that.
All right, let me think oh,stop it.
Bruce (11:28):
No, that was fun.
Sonny (11:30):
No, no, no no.
Bruce (11:32):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but
anyway, what was your guess?
Okay, okay.
Sonny (11:36):
But anyway, what was your
guess?
Okay, okay, 2465 last time.
So I'm going to think it wentdown, because that's usually
what it does.
So let's say 2250.
(11:59):
Is that a pretty good guess?
Bruce (12:03):
Yep, that's a good guess,
and you know I haven't been
writing down your guesses likeLily did so we could tell how
close you were.
You know from month to month orfrom guess to guess.
I know there for a while youwas really close, in fact that
one week you actually got theanswer within a few, like 20 or
(12:25):
30 or something like thatUnbelievable.
But so you said 2250, it wentdown and the answer is yeah,
yeah.
It did go down Yay.
Sonny (12:45):
Okay, how close was I.
Bruce (12:48):
Well, it went down, sonny
, but not much.
It was 2465, and this just afew minutes ago ago.
It counted up to 2453, so that, what is that 12 off?
(13:09):
I don't think that's very muchdifference yeah, well, my
formula was based on themearthquakes going up and down
and up and down, and for thelast couple weeks it's actually
stayed up there pretty high, which is not a good thing.
(13:30):
And back several weeks ago, when we did the last podcast on
11-27, the count was 1950.
So it went up and then it wentback down a little bit, but it
never did go back down to 1915.
So I don't know, my formula didnot work that last two times.
(13:57):
Well, I'll take that back.
It did go down.
I always said it would go upand then go back down and then
the other numbers would go.
If it went down, the othernumbers would go up.
So let's look look at them andsee what happened.
Last week, 2465 was allmagnitudes and the 2.5 and over
(14:26):
was 468.
This week it went down 2453,but the 2.5 and over went up to
526.
That's usually what it does.
I don't know why, but itusually does that.
Now the 4.5 was at 93 last weekand the 4.5 and over magnitude
(14:58):
earthquakes this week was at 104.
Earthquakes this week was at104.
So even if it wasn't very much, the 4.5 and over earthquakes
went up also.
So that is actually what I havebeen noticing that the
all-magnitude earthquakes godown.
All magnitude earthquakes godown, but the 2.5 and over or
(15:20):
the 4.5 and over go up, which iskind of weird how that happens.
And then, if it stays inregular form next week, the
earthquakes will go back up onall magnitude, but the bigger
(15:40):
ones will go down.
So what it means is you get alot more smaller earthquakes
during that time.
Sonny (15:54):
Don't know what that
means, but that's what I've been
seeing most of the time.
Oh, so you're seeing a pattern?
What?
Bruce (15:59):
you're saying that's
correct.
I stand corrected.
You're sitting down.
Sonny (16:10):
Okay, I sit corrected.
Um.
Okay, there you go.
You got the window open, don'tyou?
Bruce (16:20):
I do.
It's a beautiful day outsideand I got some fresh air coming
in the window.
Open, don't you?
I do?
It's a beautiful day outsideand I got some fresh air coming
in the window, so, yes, you canhear the cars go by.
I think I'm picking them up inmy headset anyway.
Sonny (16:30):
Well, I thought I heard
it in mine too, so there, but if
you guys out there are hearingthat, please don't get upset at
Bruce.
He wanted fresh air, so heturned the heater down and
opened up all the windows.
Bruce (16:48):
I don't mind, but I think
it's gonna get cold here in a
little while you're right, itwill get cold here about the
time that the sun goes tosetting.
The temperature usually dropspretty fast.
But until then I'm going toleave the windows open.
We're going to get fresh airand then, once that stops or I
(17:14):
should say the sun goes and thatstops I will have to shut the
windows and turn the heat backon.
But blah, blah, blah.
Speaking of blah, blah, blah, have any of our listeners been
hearing about the drones overNew Jersey?
And now I think they've beenspotted in New York and there's
(17:39):
a big to-do about it.
Supposedly nobody knows wherethey're from and I don't know
why they can't shoot them down.
But now they can't shoot themdown.
I don't know if their guns arethat bad or they're just afraid
to, but that's what they'resaying.
They can't shoot them down, andsome of them are as big as
(18:01):
buses or two-car garages.
Now I don't know who'smeasuring them.
I did see a video of one overin New York, I think it was, and
I had heard from another guy ona podcast that if they were as
big as buses, that you wouldhear them go over, because it
(18:24):
would take a lot of lift and themotors would have to be big to
get that lift, and I agree.
But the one I heard supposedlythat was over New York State,
not New York City, supposedlythat was over New York State,
not New York City it soundedlike a type of helicopter it was
(18:45):
flying over and you could hearthe propellers, the motor.
It was quite loud actually, itwas kind of a buzzing sound, a
lot like you would expect from adrone.
So I don't know what's going on, but it's quite interesting,
especially with a new update onsome of the legislation that's
(19:11):
going through Congress right nowand they're wanting a broader
spectrum for the FBI and, Ithink, local authorities to be
able to govern drones andbasically take it out of the
hands of the FAA.
(19:31):
Right now, in order to fly adrone commercially, you have to
go to an faa test site, take atest.
It's not a real hard one.
I mean, there's some learningand memorization.
I know I took one and, uh, youhave to pass that test and get a
(19:54):
, basically a license to fly adrone.
If you're doing it for a hobbyand you're not going to be
commercially taking pictures andselling them or anything like
that.
All you have to do is registerthe drone and I think there's a
fee for that, but I don'tremember what it was.
But if I was going to guess onanything about all these drone
(20:17):
things, I think it's going to beto help them pass some more
bills to govern the drones.
And you know, they're using thisto scare the Americans.
And I'm not sure why you'rescared of drones.
They haven't done anything.
Go out and shoot them if that'sa problem.
(20:38):
I didn't say that, but I didnot say that.
But anyhow, I look forsomething to come out of this,
out of the woodwork here shortly.
Plus, you never know, maybethey're going to get ready to
fake a UFO landing or something, and this is just the precursor
(21:01):
to that.
We'll have to wait and see.
Sonny (21:05):
Oh, you mean more
conspiracies, I see.
Bruce (21:12):
Yes, more conspiracies.
I mean we're talking aboutdrones that are probably from
the cia or, um, the blackgovernment, and I don't mean
that in any way other than, uh,the government agencies that
soak up our taxpayer money.
(21:34):
But there's something going onthere and it's not what we think
, it's not what we're seeing.
There's something hidden behindall that garbage, so pay
attention when they startchanging laws and stuff like
that.
Sonny (21:51):
Oh boy, you just have to
look at everything.
Deep, dark, don't you?
Bruce (21:58):
No, not really.
But I do think there'ssomething more to be concerned
about besides a bunch of dronesflying over.
We'll have to wait and see, andyou never know A lot of the
stuff that people are hearing onsocial media and the videos.
They really don't tell youwhere they're from.
I mean, they may say New Jersey, but you have no proof of that.
(22:22):
I mean, it's just as bad as thenews media getting out there
and saying things that's nottrue, just because they're
wanting to persuade you to acertain point of view.
But anyway, that's what's goingon.
Pay attention, we're going tosee it for long.
I don't think it's going tojust quit and drift off into no
(22:46):
memory lane, like they do a lotof things.
Sonny (22:50):
Well, we'll see.
I'm interested in seeing whathappens.
That'll be good.
So what are we going to callthis?
Bruce (23:00):
I think we ought to call
it the drone effect.
Sonny (23:04):
Okay, the drone effect.
That's pretty good.
I like that.
Bruce (23:09):
Yeah, I do too.
I like the drone effect becauseit's going to.
The drones are going to bringsome kind of effect that's going
to have repercussions later ondown the road, and that's what
we need to look for.
Sonny (23:22):
Yeah, you're probably
right, uh-oh.
Bruce (23:29):
Yeah, uh-oh, how'd you
know.
Sonny (23:32):
I seen how far back you
tipped that cup.
Bruce (23:37):
Oh, okay, yeah, that's a
dead giveaway that my cup's
about empty.
I'm almost out of hot cocoa, ohno.
Sonny (23:46):
Oh no, you may have to
stop talking.
Bruce (23:51):
You would like that.
Sonny (23:53):
No, not really.
That means our podcast is overand I like doing these podcasts.
Bruce (24:00):
Yeah, I do too.
It's fun even if nobody listensto us and we do have some
listeners, because they havedownloads and stuff, but we
don't have any very manylisteners that will give us
their thoughts and opinions andreviews, and that's one thing
that will make us feel likewe're getting out.
(24:23):
There is if you have a responseto our comments, or one thing I
haven't heard, sonny, guesswhat that is.
Sonny (24:32):
Um shut up.
Bruce (24:35):
No A good answer?
No, no, I have not heard.
Uh, it's been a few podcastsback, uh, three or four, I think
.
Now that I quit using my laptopwith my mixer board, I did that
when I got the mixer, I justwent straight into plugging it
(24:58):
into my laptop, like I used todo the mics and use an Audacity
to record.
I used a mixer board to do allthe sound effects and the mic
adjustments, but I went aboutthree or four podcasts ago and
took the laptop completely outof the circuit and now I just
(25:24):
record straight to the MixCaster.
I use it for, you know, theadjustments and stuff and the
recording.
I like the laptop because theaudacity has a bigger graph and
you can see what's going oneasier, um, but, and if I paused
(25:46):
it, I could go back and playthe last few seconds of the
pause and it would remind me ofwhat I was saying and where I
was.
At this one I can pause it, butI can't go back and if I stop
it it just stops the wholerecording and you have to title
it and then, if you startrecording again, it starts a new
(26:08):
one.
So I have to splice themtogether, which that's really
the only annoyance I have found,I like, after I've used this
quite a bit, I like it better,but I think it's helped me
develop the sound better.
I was able to get my pod micand the other mic tuned better,
(26:29):
which gave me, I think, a bettersound for my voice.
I think a better sound for myvoice and it allows me to
concentrate on one view insteadof watching this view and the
laptop and trying to change myfocus all the time.
(26:51):
So I like it better, I think.
And then afterwards I just takethe card out of it, put it in
my desktop instead of my laptopand I transfer that file over to
audacity on that desktop andit's kind of easier to edge
doing that.
(27:12):
So I don't know, but anyway, thewhole point of this was I still
have not heard from anybody outthere to tell me what they
think of the sound and how itchanged.
Um, it probably have to be oneof my listeners that's listened
to me doing it for the last uhyear, because I think I've had
(27:32):
just a mix caster for a year.
Um, I think I got it last fallor um, almost winter time.
I think I got it back inoctober, november don't quote me
on that?
I can't remember, but anyhow,it's uh been good for me and I
think I'm gaining ground everytime I use it, learning how to
(27:55):
use it.
I should say so if you're stilllistening out there.
Sonny (28:02):
Yeah, if you're still
listening out there, tell him
how bad he sounds.
Bruce (28:12):
No, that's not what I
want.
Sonny (28:14):
Oh yeah, it is, that's
what I, what I want.
Tell him.
Tell him how bad he sounds andI sound great.
I need to be the regular host.
Bruce (28:26):
He can be my co-host all
right, so you're wanting to take
over the show.
Sonny (28:33):
Yeah, why?
Bruce (28:34):
not Okay, well, we'll see
what happens, but anyway, yeah,
if you're still listening, havebeen listening or just new.
Either way, send us an email, send us a text on Buzzsprout.
You can do that through anypodcast listening app that you
(28:57):
have.
It's underneath our definitionor our description.
Tell us what you think.
We haven't heard from anybody.
Sonny (29:09):
And you know what that
means, sonny, no, what does?
Bruce (29:13):
that mean.
Sonny (29:19):
That means you haven't
got to goose anybody.
Oh, you are right, we need todo that just for the fun of it.
Bruce (29:23):
Yeah, we do.
We haven't done that in a long, long time.
Let me see if I can find my.
There it is.
This is my nice gift thatShannon got me and she paid a
lot of money for this thing andI use it for my podcast.
(29:45):
It's actually made for hunters, but hey, here we go.
You ready for this, Sunny?
Yeah, I'm ready for that.
All right, here we go.
Sonny (29:59):
Ha ha.
Bruce (30:02):
You've been goosed, all
right.
Yeah, now see, folks, if yousend us a message or email us,
we will shout out to you, readthe email or the text or
whatever, and will send you agoose.
So look forward to that.
Yeah, and also on our web page,if you'll go to it, you can
(30:24):
leave us comments and you canalso click on the button under
the comment page I think that'swhat it's called and you can
send us a recording.
You can actually record yourvoice and it will save it and
send it to us and then we canput that on our podcast so you
can be part of our podcast.
Sonny (30:46):
Oh boy, Part of our
podcast.
I can make fun of them.
Bruce (30:52):
Well, I don't know if
that would be nice to our
listeners.
Sonny (30:56):
Why not?
I'm not nice to you.
Why should I be nice to anybody?
Bruce (31:02):
Okay, well, now that you
mention it, I don't know if I
can answer that.
Sonny (31:09):
Well, of course you can't
, because I'm right Always.
Bruce (31:15):
Alright, if you say so.
Sonny (31:28):
I will try to believe
that you remembered Cool, all
right.
Bruce (31:39):
I did remember this time.
So that means we are going intothe seven-day.
No, let's don't call itseven-day, let's just call it
news corner.
Everybody knows it's going tobe seven days.
The earthquakes are calledseven-day because that's how
long we go back on the report, but this one is just news.
Um, I may look it up, you know, every day, um to add up some
(32:04):
things.
But anyhow, let's don't boreyou to death with that oh yeah,
let's bore him to death.
Sonny (32:13):
So I can hear him snoring
.
I don't think you're goingdeath.
So I can hear him snoring.
Bruce (32:16):
I don't think you're
going to be able to hear him
snoring.
You know what?
We need to go live for a while.
We may work on that this comingyear.
That may be our goals that weset forward in the new year that
(32:38):
we can start a live broadcastof the podcast and after we do
it a few times or for a while, maybe we can get people to call
in.
And if we get popular enough wemay not, but then we can use
that we can record that live andput it on our regular podcast.
But I had an account withPodbean and they had a live
(33:00):
option.
So I may go back and see if Istill got that and we may try to
do that.
What do you think about that, sonny?
You want to go live?
Sonny (33:08):
That may be fun.
That way, every time I yell atyou, everybody will hear it.
Bruce (33:16):
Well, I still have the
mute button I can hit while
you're yelling.
Sonny (33:21):
Yeah, but if you're live,
that means they're going to
hear the silence for fiveminutes while I'm yelling.
Bruce (33:31):
That's true, but you know
you really don't yell at me,
you just give me a hard time.
Sonny (33:37):
Yeah, but it sounds
better if I tell her why I'm
yelling at you Okay.
Bruce (33:43):
So anyway, let's go back
to the news corner.
Some of the news headlines thatI've seen caught my eye, or my
ear, or my head.
There was two men in.
Sonny (34:02):
Britain that went up for
trial.
Guess what?
Bruce (34:03):
for a robbery you'd think
, but no, they actually went to
trial for cutting down a famoustree got cut down and they went
to trial yep, it was a tree thathad been uh up for 150 years,
(34:25):
or that's what they're claiminganyway, and, uh, it was next to
a 73-mile-long wall and thatwall was built in 122 CE that's
what they call it now, insteadof before BC, before Christ,
(34:47):
they call it CE.
I'm not sure why or when theychanged that, but anyway it was
built by the Roman emperor, uh,hadron, I think's his name, and
anyway that tree was planted bythe um property owner back 150
(35:09):
years ago and I didn't write hisname down.
I should have.
I apologize, but apparentlythat tree in Britain had been
used as the site of manyproposals, marriage proposals
for a film that was made in 1991.
(35:30):
What was the name of it?
It was named Robin Hood, princeof Th of thieves.
I don't know if anybody's seenthat I did but the whole point
of that is that was a famoustree and if you'd like to see
what it looked like, it was bythe wall, nestled in between two
(35:52):
big hills, and it was actuallypretty beautiful.
I got a picture of it with theAurora behind it and I'll put it
on my web page so you can getan idea of it.
And I've also got a picture ofthe cut-down tree with the
police tape surrounding it.
(36:14):
That happened last year, inSeptember of 2023.
And they really didn't have anidea why it got cut down, or if
they did, they didn't put it inthe article, but I'll put the
pictures up.
You can go take a look at it onour website, which is
(36:36):
theuglyquackingduckcom, and it'spretty neat looking at it.
Let me get this paper rolledover here.
I just can't imagine you knowsomebody going out there and
cutting the tree down.
(36:56):
I wonder if they was angry atit.
Maybe they were married andthey got divorced and they
blamed the tree.
I don't know.
I really don't understandpeople.
Uh-oh, that really is gettingempty.
Did you see that big gulp?
Sonny (37:16):
Yeah, I think everybody
heard it too.
Bruce (37:20):
All right.
Well, it is good hot cocoa, Ihave to say.
Did you know?
Scientists have now revealed achemistry in a tick, a tick
saliva, I should say in a tick.
A tick saliva, I should say, enabling them to form a cement
cone around their bite.
(37:41):
Now let me re-say thatScientists have discovered on a
tick you know a tick that getson dogs and animals and on us,
carries a Rocky Mountain spottedfever here in the States.
Well, they have discovered achemical, some kind of chemistry
(38:08):
, in the tick's saliva thathelps them create a cementing
cone around their bite.
Ever wonder why you never couldget them?
Ticks out, there you go.
It's almost like they dig downin your skin.
Well, maybe they didn't digdown that far, maybe that cone
swells up around them and youcan't get them out.
(38:31):
A lot of times you'll end uppulling the legs or the head off
trying to get them out and theysay that's a no-no, because you
don't want to spread anyinfection, especially Rocky
Mountain fever or Lyme disease.
So you're supposed to, you know, be careful with that Anyhow.
(38:53):
I thought that was interesting.
They discovered that now, andwait till you hear this bit of
news.
Sonny (39:04):
Oh boy, what do you got
now there, Brucey Boy.
Bruce (39:09):
Oh, that's the first time
you've ever called me Brucey
Boy.
That's kind of funny.
Sonny (39:16):
I kind of like that.
I think I'll start calling youBrucey Boy.
Bruce (39:21):
It almost makes me feel
young again.
Sonny (39:24):
Oh no, we're not doing
that, I'll just call you.
I don't know that.
I'll just call you.
I don't know why.
I'll wait for later.
Bruce (39:33):
All right, well, thank
you, but yeah, the next bit of
tidbit information is the Rubyslippers from the Wizard of Oz.
Guess how much they sold for?
Yes, just go ahead, guess, I'lltake a minute.
(39:57):
Let you folks think about it.
I mean, if my wife goes out andspends $120 on my shoes or her
shoes, I about have a heartattack each time, and when I
tell you how much they spent onthese, you're not going to
believe it.
They bought these or they soldthese.
I don't know who bought themfor $32.5 million for them.
(40:20):
Ruby slippers from the Wizardof Oz $32.5.
Oh my gosh.
Sonny (40:29):
That's crazy.
Who would do that?
Bruce (40:32):
Well, I don't know, but
somebody did and they probably
smiled the whole time.
Yeah, somebody with way toomuch money.
They could have gave severalfamilies I mean several families
some of that $32.5 million andthey would have been well off
for the rest of their life.
But hey, I'm not going to talkabout that To each his own.
(40:57):
But really $32.5 million for apair of shoes Out of a movie,
wow.
Sonny (41:09):
Wow, is right, holy smoke
.
Bruce (41:15):
Yeah, anyway, I thought
that was interesting.
I needed to bring that up.
You know, I think my wifebought me a pair of boots here a
while back for $120, and Ibought a pair of boots at Rural
King last year for $135 orsomething like that.
And then I got home and put ona different pair of socks the
(41:38):
next day and discovered that I'dbought them too small.
The socks I put on was, youknow, a lot thicker than normal,
because I bought them forwinter and after I wore them to
work for a day I realized thatthey were a little bit too small
for them.
Socks, bummer, that's the waymy life goes, anyway.
Sonny (41:58):
Yeah, you got that kind
of luck for sure.
Bruce (42:02):
Yeah, I do.
Anyway, $32.5 million.
Speaking of money, I heard thatYouTube TV is going up another
$10.
Another $10.
Anybody out there got aprescription to YouTube.
What was it?
$72?
Now it's going to be $82 orsomething like that, and I think
(42:25):
it's a must.
Now you do get a lot of extraswith that tv prescription and
they probably got really goodvideo on there.
I do not have a prescription tothat, but hey, another ten
dollars, it just adds up.
(42:46):
$10 over here, $10 over there.
Yeah, get you another podcastman, get you a good podcast 2.0
player and listen to some goodpodcasts.
There are so many podcasts outthere.
If you like science fiction, there's science fiction shows.
That's what I like.
If you like true crime, there'sa lot of true crime podcasts.
(43:12):
If you like a video podcast, there's a whole bunch of them.
Spotify's now doing them, youtube's doing them.
You got Joe Rogan out there.
I mean, everybody likes him,right?
Do a podcast, don't worry aboutspending all that money.
Anyway, now, I found this bit ofinformation kind of intriguing
(43:37):
because I've watched this show.
It's a YouTube show called HotOnes.
Anybody ever watch that?
Anybody like it?
We've watched it a few times.
We like it.
We've watched it a few times.
We like it, my daughter likeswatching it for some of the
stars that's been on there.
But basically, if you haven'twatched it, it is a show with a
(43:59):
host that interviews a star.
It's a different one each time.
While they eat some hot wingsI'm not sure they're all wings,
but they have different degreesof hot sauce on them.
So every time the next one theyeat it's going to be a little
bit hotter and a little bithotter and they get really,
really, really hot.
(44:20):
And it's very interesting tosee, as the progression grows,
how good or how not so good, they can concentrate on the
questions and answers and howthey react to the heat that's
(44:41):
coming off them.
Hot wings, but hot.
That was a show, or is a show?
Pretty famous show, andbasically BuzzFeed was not
Buzzsprout, that's my hostingpodcast company, but BuzzFeed
(45:01):
actually sold that show off.
They actually sold the studio, which is what was the actually
sold the studio, which is um,what was the name of the studio?
I gotta roll down here, hang on.
Uh, first we feast studio, which is, uh, the makers of hot
(45:24):
ones, but are you ready for theprice?
That's the whole reason Ibrought this up.
They sold that studio and show.
I just wanted to pause whilethat vehicle went by.
I'm gonna shut the windows andstart and get dark, but they
sold that for $82.5 million.
(45:47):
Are you ready?
$82.5 million?
Apparently, a handful ofinvestors privately run
investors, except for Soros.
Soros Investment Company waspart of the investors, but the
guy that is a host on the show,I hear is one of the investors
(46:10):
that bought it, and the founderof Hot Ones is also an investor,
and there's a couple otherinvestors that basically they're
going out privately instead ofpublicly on Buzz Sprouts or
(46:31):
BuzzFeed, sorry.
So it'd be interesting to seeif they keep the show as good as
it has been or what happens.
We'll have to see.
But if you're interested in alist of investors, you can go to
Variety.
If you're interested in a listof investors, you can go to
(46:51):
Variety.
It's got a listing of it's gota whole article about it.
That's where I found it, so goover and check it out if you're
interested.
Sonny (47:05):
All right, sunny.
What do you think of our newscorner?
Oh that wasn't too bad.
Bruce (47:12):
That one actually had
some interesting articles.
Well, thank you, you're comingaround.
Sonny (47:16):
I think I've got your
brain washed?
Um, nope, I don't think so, butanyhow, we're going to say bye
now, aren't we?
Bruce (47:25):
Yep, we are.
We've been on here for 47minutes Too long again.
But we're going to say goodevening to everybody.
We're going to say I hopeyou're all preparing for
Christmas.
It is right around the corner.
I hope, if you're buying atChristmas, that you've got it
(47:48):
bought and you don't have tostress in the last couple weeks
like some of us.
I hope you enjoy it.
I hope you get time off toenjoy it, and we will have again
another podcast or two betweennow and New Year's Day.
(48:09):
So I think one of them is goingto be the collage of all our
short audio clips of each show, like we did last year and the
year before.
So if you look forward to thatkind of thing, we'll have it on
there and we'll probably do aquick earthquake report in there
(48:34):
too, somewhere.
I think we've got what?
Two more weeks to go beforeChristmas.
So, anyhow, have a good week.
It's Sunday afternoon and thisis going to go up tonight and
I'll probably have the.
It's going to be on the websitetonight, www.
Theuglyquackingduckcom, and itwill probably go up to Monday
(49:01):
afternoon.
It will hit Buzzsprout and theywill put it out.
So if you're part of oursubscription people on our
website, you'll get to hear itearly, and if you're not, you'll
have to wait till Monday.
So, anyway, we want to wish youguys all a good day.
Sonny (49:22):
And, yes, we want to say
goodbye at the same time.
Bruce (49:27):
Yes, we do.
Let's do that right now.
You ready?
Sonny (49:30):
I am ready, here we go.
Bruce (49:33):
Goodbye, All right, 73,
and may the Father's blessings
go with you everybody and besafe Bye.
