Speaker 1 (00:10):
Welcome back to the
Unraid Digest.
My name is Stefano and we'veonly been gone for about a month
, but a lot has been going on inthe background with Unraid and
the development team.
But we'll get into some ofthose finer details here in a
little bit.
The first thing I want todiscuss with you guys is that
there is an Unraid sale going onright now where you can save up
to 50% on an Unleashed license, and the sale is expected to
(00:32):
last all the way through August,so you have plenty of time to
take advantage of thosediscounts while you can.
Right now, you can pick up anUnleashed license for $89,
saving yourself $20 on the $109price tag.
This is a perpetual licensegiving you access to all of the
Unraid features for life.
You'll also get one free yearof operating system updates and,
(00:54):
of course, the main advantageof the Unleashed license is that
you can attach unlimited numberof storage devices.
I think we can all agree that'sa pretty good deal for the
Unleashed license if you don'town a license already.
But what about everyone outthere with a starter, basic or
plus license?
All right, so I had aconversation with Tom and
Tiffany, right the the CEOs ofLimetech.
For those of you that don'tknow, this is a totally real
(01:16):
conversation.
I didn't make this up for thisvideo, okay?
So I called them and I said, hey, we got to do something for
the people out there that havethese licenses.
What can we do?
So they're like you know what?
We have a great idea.
We're going to do a discountedupgrade for them as well.
So if you're on the starterplan, you can upgrade your
license to Unleashed for $48.
That's a pretty decent deal.
If you're on the basics plan, you can upgrade your license to
(01:38):
Unleashed for $29.
And if you're on the plus plan, you can upgrade your license to
Unleashed for only $9.
There you go.
I did all of that for you guysand, again, that conversation
was 100% real and I didn't makeit up for this little sketch.
All right, so you're welcome.
Unraid 7 Beta 2 is now available, and in this release, you can
(02:01):
expect to see a completely new, revamped dashboard with improved
navigation, fully implementedZFS pool support, major
improvements to the VM manager,as well as a new ability where
the array is no longer required, which is great to see.
It's completely optional nowand there are a host of fixes,
(02:22):
as well as critical updates tosome of the packages and so so
much more that we actually can'tget into all of it in this
video.
But speaking of new things, there's a new USB creation tool
to install Unraid with, and ithas a new UI design.
But probably the best featureof it, in my opinion, is it now
gives you the ability to installsome of the beta public images
(02:42):
that are available, instead ofhaving to go out of your way
through the forums to installsome of the beta public images
that are available, instead ofhaving to go out of your way
through the forums to find thosepublic betas, and so that's a
pretty cool feature and ofcourse, it looks drastically
different than the old design, which is always a welcome change
to see.
You know, in these videos wealways focus so heavily on
Unraid 7 beta and all thefeatures that are coming with
(03:03):
Unraid 7 that we kind of, youknow, forget about the current
release and the updates comingto it, and so we're gonna stick
with that trend by completelyignoring 6.12.11.
That's totally available rightnow and has totally fixed open
SSH vulnerability that wasrecently discovered last month,
and there are also some kernelupdates and some other things.
You really don't need to beconcerned about it.
(03:23):
You can update if you want to.
If you're sure, you can alwayscheck out the newsletter to see
what new features and updateshave been made available to you
on 6.12.11.
Whatever, I don't care, youdon't care.
All we care about is Unraid 7,right, that's what we're here
for is to hear about Unraid 7.
Oh, unraid, how you've gonefrom just earning some extra
(03:43):
beer money to now havingone-on-one paid support and also
having a ticketing system wherenow you yes, you could submit
tickets for issues that you'veexperienced and track those all
the way to the point thatthey're resolved and then have
them in history.
So if you encounter them again, you can already review the
fixes that have occurred, whichis great.
(04:05):
So no more perusing through theforums post after post trying
to find that one post of theresolution that fixed an issue
that you experienced previously.
Now it's all tracked in historyand made much easier for you.
So that's a great new featurethat's been added.
I think that we can all bethankful that there is now this
maturity to Unraid as itcontinues to grow.
(04:27):
Lastly, don't forget to checkout some of the Unraid community
content in the links in thevideo description below, one of
the more interesting topics fromthere is from Durandal, where
they talk about how they useUnraid in a KUI environment.
What the heck is a KUIenvironment?
Well, it's an environment wherethey handle controlled,
unclassified, and so you canread all about how Unraid fits
(04:47):
into that network or environmentand what exactly they're doing
there.
So be sure to drop a like ifyou enjoy content like this and
get subscribed if you are notalready.
Thank you, guys all forwatching and good night.
It is actually nighttime for me, so that's why I say that.
