Jim James (00:01):
Hey, it's Jim here.
I know that I have not beenaround so much, so I want to
take this opportunity to firstof all apologize.
I've been offline.
I want to explain why I've beenoffline, what's happening and
what's coming next on theUnnoticed Entrepreneur.
A couple of things, then, toshare with you.
First of all, I built a newwebsite, a new magazine, and
(00:25):
it's attheunnoticedentrepreneurcom.
I have started to post on theirarticles and I've embedded the
player so that you can actuallylisten to the article if you
want to, and there is also anembed of the podcast episode.
So the idea is that you canlisten to the article that I've
written.
(00:45):
You can listen to the episodethat's there, because they're
not quite the same thing.
One is a summary of the other, and then I've also added in a
player which can follow youacross the different pages so
that you can actually listen toa podcast whilst you're reading.
The idea is that it becomesreally one page with different
(01:10):
ways to interact with thecontent.
And, speaking of interaction, what I've also done is to embed
the digital twin that I have, which is really indexed on all
the podcast interviews, so whenyou have a question, you can
actually just click on thelittle orange dialogue box in
(01:30):
the bottom right-hand side ofthe screen and it'll take you to
the digital twin and you canask questions of not just me but
the battalion of entrepreneurswho have been on the show.
So the idea is that then youcan listen to the show, you can
read about the show and alsothen you can ask questions as
(01:50):
well.
I've still got the YouTube ofcourse channel and I've updated
that as well, and you can findthat at the Unnoticed
Entrepreneur as well.
That's a bit more streamlined.
I've removed some of the deadlists that I had there and
removed some of the personalitems that I had on there,
(02:10):
because what I was understandingwas that YouTube doesn't know
how to categorize a channel ifit has all kinds of random
information on there.
I had things like my dadspeaking about his life story
and I had me planting some trees.
Things like my dad speakingabout his life story and I had
me planting some trees.
Interestingly enough, both ofthose were very popular, but
maybe that's a story for anotherchannel.
(02:31):
So I've tidied up the channel, and the other thing that I have
as big news is a pilot that'sbeing run with the NatWest Bank.
Natwest Bank in the UK is oneof the largest banks, and we
have created three episodes withentrepreneurs based in the UK
(02:51):
that have been involved in theaccelerator, and I've
interviewed those three downhere in Bristol, actually as a
pilot.
So you will hear threepeoplelotte lang, who's built a
content agency.
Charlie taylor, who has built awine bar because he was
allergic to wine and so he'sbuilt a wine bar to solve that
(03:14):
problem.
And also amber probin, who, along with her co-founder, hazel
mcshane, started the world'sfirst women's urinal called
Picole, and they're supplyingthose to the London Marathon,
for example at the Glastonbury.
Three great stories, threeinterviews.
There are also, then, videos ofthose on YouTube, and what I've
(03:39):
also done is to make those intoarticles on the new magazine
website, so you'll find thefully-fledged
sponsored-by-NatWest articles, and those are appearing on the
Thursday first of all, comingout on Thursday the 22nd, then
29th and then June the 5th.
(04:03):
I have not been posting as manyepisodes generally and I have a
large backlog of people thathave applied to be on the show
About 30 applicants are in myreview list guests and what kind
(04:28):
of information you would likeme to find for you, because I
have all manner of people applyto come and share the mic.
Everyone has a great story, butI'm mindful of sharing
information no one's interestedin and I'm interested in really
serving you with finding theanswers.
So I'm going to actually put asurvey form on
theunnoticedentrepreneurcom soyou could let me know what kind
(04:54):
of questions you'd like me toask of what kind of guests.
So what problems are you tryingto solve?
I can go and find those peopleand ask those questions and get
you the answers.
What I want to try and do goingforward is to build really a
much deeper and betterrelationship with you.
I have been creating contentover 800 episodes but I haven't
(05:18):
really managed to connect withyou.
You haven't told me what youneed and I probably am guilty of
not asking you enough what youneed.
I've had this deluge of peopleapplying to be on the show and I
have been grateful they wantedto come on the show, been
fascinated by all of theirstories, but this is supposed to
be a two-way medium, not just aone-way medium, and so this
(05:43):
show is for you, not for me.
Actually, I'm here to serve youwith solving the problems that
you have.
The NatWest Acceleratorinterviews are a little bit
different.
They are a full-fledgedbusiness interview.
We talk about pricing, we talkabout raising money, we talk
about cash flow, we talk aboutpeople, we talk about mindset.
(06:03):
If you find that a moreinteresting and broader
interview, then also let me know, because I'm also questioning
the focus of the show.
Should I expand it to include aslightly broader remit, or
should I stay on the morefunctional side of marketing and
even dive into the AI and howAI is being used, or is it a bit
(06:26):
of all of those things the AIand how AI is being used or is
it a bit of all of those things?
I do work as a business coachand I've just recently won a
very large client out of America, which is wonderful, and that's
teaching me again what it'slike to be an entrepreneur and
just some of the questions thatthey are facing, and I have some
clients here that I coach aswell with their branding and
(06:47):
business strategies, and that'salso a source of inspiration for
the show lineup.
You let me know the kind ofquestions that you've got and
the kind of problems that you'refacing, and I will do my best
to find the answers In the nextthree weeks.
You are going to have NatWestAccelerator entrepreneurs coming
(07:08):
on the mic on Thursdays and ona Tuesday I'm going to get
involved by doing my insights.
I haven't done this very muchsince I first started the
podcast and when I started thepodcast back in 2019, 2020, I
actually recorded over 200episodes, with just me speaking
(07:30):
six, seven days a week.
I was in the garden shed duringlockdown.
I must've been mad, but Icertainly nearly drove myself
mad, which is why I started tointerview people.
Some of those early shows arestill some of the highest ranked
shows, like what we could learnabout PR by the withdrawal of
(07:51):
the American troops fromAfghanistan.
I did a case study on the PRaround the messaging on the
American troops coming out ofAfghanistan, for example.
I don't necessarily getpolitical, but I have
observations.
I can talk about things thatare trending, but I can also
talk about some of thechallenges that people are
(08:12):
facing as they grow theirbusiness and also as they look
to do things like appoint a PRfirm or work with an agency.
So I'm going to take a Tuesdaywhere I do a shorter session,
maybe 10, 15 minutes, where Ishare some of my insights and
observations with you, so youcan ask me questions that you'd
(08:33):
like me to answer More thanhappy to do that.
I have 30 years of experiencerunning businesses in Singapore,
china, india.
I built teams.
I've also worked in-house andrun other people's companies.
I'm going to work to bring thatexpertise on the Tuesdays.
Thank you so much for listeningand sign up to the newsletter
(08:56):
at theunnoticedentrepreneurcom, because then we can stay in
touch and then I can give youinformation in every format
known to man.
All right, have a great week.
