seconds, it's painless.
Speaker 2 (00:32):

Speaker 3 (00:44):
are you doing today?
I'm great.
How are you?
Better'm great.
How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
better than you
apparently.
Oh yeah, the whole covid wordgoing on, I thought that
disappeared into the ethossomewhere yeah, I thought that
too, hanging around right.
So when you how did you know?
Were you just kind of like, ohgod, I feel like Well, I
actually didn't feel like crapLike the first day.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I was like I was just
kind of sick and then I told my
parents I was like I think Igot something.
And then the next day like mybody aches so bad.
And she was just like I'm goingto get you a COVID test and I
thought I was going to have likestrep or something.
And I saw I had COVID.
I was like like that's stillaround and then my dad got it.
(01:29):
My dad got, yeah, I gave him itand so we've been hanging out.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
So you told me you
couldn't leave your room, though
is your dad just coming uphanging out in your room?
Then, if you guys, are you guysfacetiming each other?
We're facing each other.
That's awesome, so okay.
So we we brought you on.
We wanted to talk to youbecause you have been making
some big moves.
Um, you won nationals at 110pounds.
Where was that this year?
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I was at iowa.
Yeah, was it?
I think it was iowa.
Yeah, yeah postseason nationals.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
It's usually called,
but now they got the, put a big
name on it, stuff like that.
But yeah, so you did that andwe're like, wow, sweet, she's
killing it right.
And then, much to your surpriseas well, now your camera's gone
.
Where'd you go?
Speaker 3 (02:16):
can I cut out?
Speaker 2 (02:18):
yeah, you did.
I thought you clicked, done.
So you were surprised thatpanamss or pan am trials were
coming up and but you were in itand you won it.
Yeah, so let's talk about thesepast, this past couple months
here.
So, um, going into and you andI talked a little bit about, but
(02:38):
going into, uh, the nationals, what were your expectations?
What were you kind of thinking, just going into that because
you knew that that was coming up, you're doing that.
Were you pumped?
Was it something that you I itsounds like you kind of had some
, um, maybe some monkeys eat offyour back wrestling some people
there possible?
Is that type of thing going onfor you?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
so my coach was
actually like he cut, he kind of
like gets my mind off it.
So he's like, no, I need you to, I need you to like pin these
girls, unless I'm like 30seconds, and I'm like over here
I'm like okay, like I think Ican do that, and so once I get
past like those 30 seconds, I'mlike oh, like he, he's gonna be
(03:20):
like, uh, you didn't do it youdidn't do it so he never really
like after a match.
He always gives me positivefeedback.
He never was like like youdidn't do it, you didn't do it,
and so he never really likeafter a match.
He always gives me positivefeedback.
He never was like oh no, youdidn't pin her 30 seconds.
He gives me positive feedbackfor every match I have.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Who's your coach?
Coach Noble, coach Noble, weknow Coach Noble.
Well, yeah, props to CoachNoble.
Good job on keeping your rungoing there.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
So Lopsicoc Novel
good job on keeping your run
going there.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
So, as you're kind of
going and I think too, I think
what he likes to do because I'min the same frame of mind I
can't argue with him on it.
Telling you to pin someone in30 seconds, regardless of
whether or not you can do it,puts you in a good mindset,
right?
Okay, this is what he wants.
I'm going to try and do thisright In his brain happens,
happens.
It happens in your brain.
(04:04):
You're like I gotta do this yeah, I gotta get this done for
coach right, so it's, it's a.
It's a good setup, especiallywhen you say afterwards that he
has nothing but positivereinforcement afterwards.
Um, I didn't really.
I didn't discover that untilmaybe a little bit later in
liam's career, but I would say,as when he was little I was a
little harsher and he got olderit all started to kind of come
(04:25):
together of like what the mentalside of it really had to be.
So that's good, I understandwhere coach Noble's coming on
that one.
Um, so you did, you did well, right.
What were some of the matches?
I think that you wrestled that,I think you not.
I think that you think werewere surprises to you.
Did you have any surprises?
Speaker 3 (04:44):
At Pan Ams.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Nope, nope, it's
still at Nationals.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Nationals.
Oh, my first match, my firstmatch I I had a head and arm and
or like a headlock, and that'sbanned in my household.
So I get it.
I like my club.
They hit headlocks like all thetime time, and so I went to go
hit a well, it was like threeseconds.
(05:10):
I stayed on the mat for abouteight seconds yeah and I do a
headlock and I'm like holding itand I look up at like my
coaches and everyone like aroundme and they're just like
because I'm not allowed to.
And so I got off the mat andlike they like gave me this look
and my mom was like did youjust hit a headlock?
(05:31):
I was like I'm sorry it wasthere, because she like came up
like right in time.
I like faked, yeah, she stoodup and I I did it.
I'm definitely not worth it.
I should never did it oh, I wasgoing through.
I was going for a hit toss okay,I missed, you slipped like yeah
it slipped and hit a head.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Throw it paid off,
though.
Right, so it was.
It was maybe just a look, butnot so much angry at you for
doing it was not like streamedon flow or any of that too.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
So I was happy about
that.
Like they won't like judge me,but my mom has it and I'm like,
hey, don't show anybody that itwasn't a bad throw, it was
actually pretty good.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
But it happens once
in a while.
And here's the other thing, though, too, I'll give you a
pass, because I watched youwrestle quite a few matches.
I don't think I've ever seen youdo a head throw.
You do it once.
Come on your first match of theweekend.
What would you do?
So?
Um, what was the rest of theweekend like for you?
At nationals, where is it?
Where you just kind of it wasjust confidence and and and
(06:34):
feeling good about what, whatever you're accomplishing so
far, just kind of riding withit.
Yeah, I, I can't hear you now.
Nope, I can't hear you now.
Nope, I can't hear you.
Nope, nope, can't hear you.
(06:55):
Go back out and then come backin.
We'll wait for you.
We're here for you.
She'll come back.
We're just talking aboutnationals with Lyric.
She killed it.
I I'm pretty sure there was nota um single regular decision.
She is, she's on fire, I thinkshe's probably.
(07:16):
As far as I'm concerned, Iwould put her in kind of the
ranks of like how kylie welkerwas doing and carly kesker um,
those are w Wisconsin girls, ifyou guys don't know, and they,
kylie's a Iowa Hawkeye and I'mnot sure if Keshker's actually
gone somewhere.
Looks like we got some commentshere.
Adrian, thanks for checking in.
All right, we got her backthere, she is okay it was like
(07:42):
my I had to turn something off.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
It was like glitching
the whole time.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Oh see, that wasn't
my camera.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, it was me, it
was me, it was me um, yeah, you
know, adrian canal.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Is it canals, adrian?
Help me out with your last name.
I don't know your last, I don'twant to pronounce it wrong, but
he's, he's following, he's been, he's been making some comments
here, he's got flexes for you,he's like, oh yeah, and honestly
, he likes the headlocks I don't, I don't know that guy that's
fine.
You're gonna have followers fromall over the world.
(08:14):
You understand that right likethis is not going to be
something that just kind ofslows down.
I was just talking and kind ofcomparing.
What you're doing now remindsme a lot of what Kylie Welker
and Carly oh, I love Kylie yeah.
Watching those guys.
Now, Liam, you know who CarlyKashker is.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yes, okay, liam
wrestled her once when we were
still doing that new way stuffdoing the new way tournaments,
like going to every single cityyou could across country, and he
I doing the new way tournaments, like going to every single
city you could across country, and he, I think she kept liam to
a decision like he didn't majorher, he didn't pin her or
nothing, because this is one ofthose matches boys pay attention
to this.
It's one of those matches hewent.
(08:52):
I was like this is a girl, I'mgonna, I'm gonna be just fine.
I was like, okay, I've beenwatching wrestle all tournament,
as you better watch your backbecause she'll come after you.
She wrestled her butt offagainst him, took him down twice
, I believe.
Yeah, yeah.
Wow.
So then Liam got up and he'slooking at me like this.
I was like I told you she'sgood, she's good, she's good,
(09:14):
she's amazing.
She's really good.
So I was just kind of comparingwhat you have going on now and
the trajectory you have is verymuch like theirs.
Yeah, so that's what's funabout watching you is because
you're only getting better asyou go along, and it's awesome.
So we were talking about, uh,um, the nationals, right?
(09:34):
Um, I don't remember what Iasked you, though Old guy brain
fart, you don't either.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
We were talking about
the matches.
We're talking about the matches.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
We were talking about
the matches.
I know that, yep, yep, wetalked about your headlock and I
think we talked about coachnoble.
Um, you know positivereinforcement things like that,
which I think are huge, especially after a match.
You guys have gone throughenough stress already yeah you
know going especially hardmatches.
The last thing you want to hearcoming off of Matt was like you
should have done this.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
He's hosting a camp
for 30 days in June.
It's going to be a great camp.
I'm going.
I'm really excited for it.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Coach Noble's
watching.
Good job, coach Noble.
Well done, well done, coachNoble.
Always fun watching those guyscoaching the corner too.
I mean probably some of thefunnest action I've ever seen,
especially when they're arguingpoints.
They're fun to watch.
So good job, noble.
Um congrats to your son too.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Um yeah, he did good
that tournament oh man like
smoke through everybody everyone, everyone.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
So let's talk a
little bit more about nationals
and then we'll move on to Pan Amtrials.
When you were kind of in the, when you're in the championship
match, nervous, freaking outwhat was going through your head
.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
So I was really
nervous because it would have
been my first like really bigstop sign and I didn't want like
the mini ones, those are likeyeah.
And so I'm like thinking I'mlike pacing like by the tunnel,
I'm like I really want this stopsign.
And there was this girl I don'tI don't remember her name, but
she was like.
She was like hyping me up.
(11:11):
She was like no, you got thisand I wish I like got her name.
And then I came off the mat andlike I went to go get my shirt
and all that and she was like Itold you, you could do it.
I she like definitely helped mebecause I was like so nervous,
like I was freaking out.
And then before that I wentover to coach noble and he like
gave me a pep talk because I waslike I was so freaking out
(11:33):
before that and I kind of likechilled out a little and then,
once I got into most of the time, once I'm over like six points,
I know I can keep it.
Yeah, I know that you can staypeople off yeah.
I'm not going to like let thatperson try anything crazy, like
(11:55):
I'm going to keep my composureon everything.
So you know they can alwayscome back, I know that.
But you know know, when thirdperiod hits, I don't really like
stalling by now.
If I'm like winning by like onepoint, I have to stall.
I don't want to like dosomething crazy in them.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Well, right, your
strategy to that right I mean,
you're, you're, you're focusedon the win, but at the same time
, though, too you know liam kindof touched on that too at state
this year like you know, you'rein the lead, you don't have to
do anything crazy, but you alsohave to still wrestle, because
they might throw something atyou that you don't know Right.
So you still have to be on yourtoes and be ready for anything
that they'll throw at you.
So it was a great tournament.
(12:34):
I mean just being able to seeand pull through on that.
Where were you at any pointduring the match?
Um, like struggling, did youfeel?
Like you're, oh man, I can'tget in on this.
Then, all of a sudden, something opened up.
You're like oh, wait, a minute, notice, anything like that she.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
I'm pretty sure it
was her ankle picks.
She had this really good.
I knew from the, I knew fromlike the beginning that my mom,
like the day before she, waslike you know, this girl has a
really good ankle pick.
So I knew from the, I knew fromlike the beginning that my mom,
like the day before she, waslike you know, this girl has a
really good ankle pick.
So I knew to watch out, sure.
But I feel like when I know themoves, I get more stressed about
it and I forget, like all mystuff and I just worry about
(13:14):
what they're doing and not whatI'm doing.
And so, you know, I knew shewas gonna have an ankle pick,
but I was just thinking aboutlike, oh, she can't touch it.
But I wasn't thinking aboutwhen she touches it, like what
am I going to do?
Am I going to like roll thefoot over?
I didn't really know what to doat that point, so I was kind of
, when she got it in on me, Iwas kind of struggling, but I
(13:37):
found a way out.
She was really strong though.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
She was really strong
, though.
She was really strong.
Liam touched on that too.
Same thing you said.
As far as that, when you focusso much on what they do, forget
about what you do.
You got there because of whatyou do Watch film.
You can watch film all you want.
Liam watches film, not to watchwhat they do, maybe just how
they move when I move, and thenhe does this.
How's this gonna you know, kindof thing.
(14:02):
I I think when you get to thepoint, too, and you're, you're
also, your growth is is gettingyou there.
You know, as far as the, theguy, the coaches, you're around,
the athletes you're around, youdon't worry so much about
that's why I kind of asked youbefore too, like, do you know
who you're going to be wrestling, kind of thing, just to see
what your answer was, because, honestly, it doesn't matter.
Yeah, it doesn't matter In thegrand scheme of things.
(14:26):
You still have to show up, youstill have to toe the line, you
still have to wrestle your matchin order to win, and I think
you exemplified that, especiallygoing through.
You know some of the things, maybe in the past you know,
maybe weighing on your mind like, oh, I can't do this.
When you push all that asideand you start thinking about
what I can do versus what Ican't do, and it sounds like you
(14:48):
made that step, which is huge.
When you get to that point,it's like everything else just
becomes a little clearer.
I interrupted you, sorry aboutthat.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
No, you're good,
You're good.
I feel like if you focus onlike the wrestler, because like
their name or something like oh,this, this kid's good, but if
you just like, don't focus on itand you take it as another
match, it's gonna go in yourfavor, because I feel like,
personally, when I know they'regood, I actually don't stress
(15:16):
about it anymore.
I'm like oh, like I have anopportunity.
But if they're not as good, Ikind of stress about it, because
I know that I need to put myfull potential in it and I have
to win it.
But in reality I don't thinkit's about the winning for me.
I feel like it's more aboutbeing able to go on the mat,
(15:38):
because there's like people outthere that aren't really they
can't go on the out on the mat,and I'm blessed to be able to be
out on the mat and have peoplearound me.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
And just compete and
just have good people around,
yep, and that's the key, that'sreally the key.
And you know things like theNCWC things happen.
You know, when you'resurrounded by good people and
you're doing announcing, youknow you're doing little things
like that, so being able to getthose opportunities, they don't
just come along just because ofwho you are, it's because of
what you do, right.
I mean, there there's going tobe things that happen to you in
(16:12):
the future here that you'regoing to be like Holy cow, why
am I getting what's?
You know someone comes up andruns across the parking lot,
shakes your hand.
You're like I didn't know who.
That was because of the personyou are.
It's not because you wonsomething Right and that's.
I think that's the biggestthing.
I think a lot of, I think a lotof athletes kind of get lost in
or confused about.
It is a lot of times peoplejust have an appreciation for
(16:34):
you.
You know it's not always weirdSomething you can probably think
it's kind of weird, especiallyif you know you're in a store or
something.
You're like, oh, that's kind ofodd, it's kind of different.
But people have respect forpeople that have an appreciation
number one for what they do andfor who they're around and the
things that they're around.
So I think it's really great tosee just the environment.
You're around.
Your mom is doing really greatthings.
(16:55):
You're around really goodpeople to show you really good
things.
Yeah, I think dan gable said itbest is like when you're
feeling really good, then youtrain really good.
You know so big key right.
So you big nationals won thenationals.
Now we well, let's roll intopan ams.
Now you kind of soundedsurprised that they were coming
up when you're talking about himyou're like yeah also my mom
(17:16):
said pan am, trials are comingup.
Okay, which cool, you're a gameto do whatever.
But but like, what was thatlike?
Then Were you kind of like.
I didn't know I was going to bewrestling in this.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
So I've been training
for like for many years Ever
since, like last year, I wasreally determined to win it
because I didn't want to youknow get second again.
Yeah, but I mean I want to putmore work in.
You know, next time I go toworld team trials I feel like I
could have put more work in.
(17:46):
You know, everyone can put morework in.
So I wasn't really.
I felt like PNM trials wasgoing to be really hard for me.
When I told my friends I didn'tthink I was going to place.
I feel like I need a bettermental about it.
Um, and when I made it intolike semis when I wrestled, I
(18:08):
was like kind of, I had thislike I was iffy about.
I was just like how?
am I in.
How am I in semis?
And so when I made it in finalsI heard it was just best out of
one, like I only had to wrestleone match, I was like, yeah, I
was like whew, I was wrestlingso many matches that day.
I was so dozed off, I was tired.
(18:32):
That match was close.
That girl was really strong.
I felt like I was kind ofdisappointed in myself after
that match.
I felt like I was kind ofdisappointed in myself after
that match.
I felt like I wanted the lasttakedown.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
I think I got the
last takedown, but I didn't.
I wasn't really impressed withhow I did.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
I felt like I could
have done so much better.
Sure, and I think you knowanother, another hurdle that
you'll probably come across likeeven though there there was the
doubt, right, you got past that, and then there was the well, I
just don't feel like it did asgood, which should motivate you.
Then, right, it should push youand drive you to do who knows,
OW at Pan Ams, right, Like youguys are talking about.
(19:13):
So, when going, I think I thinkLiam may have had some of the
same kind of surprise when hegot to the semis at the US Open.
Liam may have had some of thesame kind of surprise when he
got to the semis at the US Open, because then he semi-slid all
the way down.
Sixth, yeah, See, it was justtough.
Right, it was a mental comeback, but even knowing that you can
have, you know, a littleadversity in your brain, just
like God, I want to do better.
(19:34):
Did that drive you a little bitmore for the finals then?
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Yeah, it definitely
did, I was a little tired.
I finals then yeah, itdefinitely did, I was, I was a
little tired I know that like Iwas like shooting honey packets
down.
Yeah, because I was so tired andmy partner was really tired too
, she was really nervous.
And then she found out like, oh, like it's only best out of one
.
And so when she won, I got likeextremely hyped because I was
like, oh, now I need to win ittoo, because I wanted to be like
(20:02):
on the team with her.
And then I remember I was likeI was in that match and I like
looked back it was, and she wasjust like, what are you doing?
and I was like, oh, okay, wait,I gotta lock in yeah so I did a
slide by and I got the two andso I was just like I need to
keep it steady and there waslike 15 seconds left and I
(20:24):
didn't want to like go foranything big and then end up on
my back score like last two.
I was just like there's 15seconds left, I'm not gonna do
anything crazy stall that stuffout, man it's only 15 seconds
right.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Adrian says that's
dog mentality right there, big
dog, big dog, right, that's cool.
I honestly I love the mentality.
I love the fact that you werein the semis.
You're like I didn't like myperformance, right, I can I have
respect for anybody that canwalk away from a win and be like
that was not garbage, but Ididn't like that.
Yeah, I absolutely did not likethat.
(21:03):
I can wholeheartedly appreciatethat.
I think.
I think you're in the in theright place, right place, you
know, as far as a mentality.
And then, growing from that, like I said, I I I could see you
winning pan ams, likewholeheartedly so with pan ams
done or the trials done, you winright.
(21:24):
Did you have to like have apinch me moment kind of thing
after you won?
Speaker 3 (21:29):
Like is this real?
Yeah, I was like so shocked, like I was like wait, did I
actually?
Because I was like I wouldthink about that moment like
every single day.
Like I was like praying to Godbecause I was so stressed about
it.
I was like praying to God.
I was like please get thisdress off my shoulders.
And then, like after the match,I was like I can't believe I
(21:56):
just did that.
And so me and my friend werelike freaking out.
We were like no way, and sowe're, so we're still freaking
out about it.
It's awesome, it's still itstill feels like it's not true.
And so we're excited to go toguatemala.
We I've never been, I've neverbeen out of the country, so
really excited canada, canada,as far as I've gone, but I heard
it's hot in guatemala yeah yeah, that's why I won't go there.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
It's way too hot I
don't know.
I'll watch them on tv if heever makes it someplace like
that.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
It's way too hot I
heard it's dangerous, though,
like really dangerous, and likeyou can't even like go, like you
can't have like any bug bites, you can't have like any
infections, because if you godown you'll get like some
disease.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
I'm like yeah, well,
I think that, like a lot of
times, especially for overseasstuff, I mean, you can go into
the doctors and find out hey,we're going to be going here,
what kind of inoculation shouldI get to be saved from?
You know insects, things likethat?
So you can definitely kind ofinoculation should I get to be
saved from you know insects, things like that, so you can
definitely kind of get set up alittle more medically and I
think I think the team mightactually do something with that.
Possibly, I'm not sure, um, butI think you'd be covered,
(22:57):
you'll be all right.
A lot of times, especially whenyou talk like people take trips
to jamaica and stuff, when theygo to resorts they don't leave
the resorts, they stay on theresort well, I heard those
resorts are like really cool yes, they are, they are, I saw it
in like some tv show, unless youwant to go buy some street
trinkets, there's no reason toleave the resort
(23:18):
yeah you probably find themthere, but I think you'll have
fun.
You're gonna be with the teamtoo, so I mean you guys will be.
You guys will be surrounded byso much other stuff that you
know you probably haveitineraries got to do this and
you're probably only going tofind like an hour for yourself
to go find something to kind ofgo look at and check something
out.
So, which is fine, because, likeyou said, guatemala can be a
little different, right, alittle different, but you're
(23:40):
gonna have fun, you're gonnakill it.
I know you're gonna kill it.
So you guys are um, you'reyou're hoping to get to the us
open to go to go watch, I assumeyeah, yeah, yeah, because I'll
get see you guys too yes, yes,we, we will be there.
I know coach noble should bedown there, I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, this guys will be aroundI think, they're everywhere we
(24:00):
go, they go.
I think they're just followingus.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
At this point, I'm
pretty convinced I see them all
like the big tournaments, everytournament yeah, well, because
they know where thecompetition's at he's a smart
guy, what are some of yourfuture plans coming up?
Speaker 2 (24:15):
What were we talking
about?
What competition are youlooking at?
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Fargo.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Okay, that's right,
because you auto-qualified.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yeah, I'm definitely
going to do Super 32 again.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Okay, yep, we'll be
there.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Ooh, I'm do super 32
again.
Okay, yep, we'll be there.
Oh, I'm just trying to do allthe big tournaments.
Yeah, I know I have like I'mprobably gonna do a lot of camps
, okay, throughout.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, uh, do you?
Do you help out, like, is therea club you go to around in your
area?
I know your mom has posted someclub stuff like that, but do
you go to a club and help outwith like youth practices, stuff
like that?
Speaker 3 (24:51):
so at my club there's
there's like about four coaches
.
We train at harrison highschool, it's athena, and I
really like that practice a lotbecause my coach like lets me do
kind of what I want.
Like if I'm like I want to workon throws, you'll be like, yeah
, just go in the back and gowork on throws, sure, and like
some, like if I went to like adifferent club, I kind of have
(25:14):
to do exactly what they're doingand not what I like probably
would want, which he keeps me ontrack a lot.
I really like coach Rob.
He's a great coach.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
So how long have you
been around, coach Rob?
How long has he been there?
Speaker 3 (25:27):
He got me into
wrestling actually.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Oh nice, even better.
Yeah, yeah, he's a dude.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
Yeah, he's really
funny.
I really like Coach Rob yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Coach Rob's good
stuff.
Then what are some of thefuture goals?
I mean, you got a pretty bigone, you know, with the Pan Am
team.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
What are some future
goals you're trying to reach now
?
Winning fargo okay, I want to.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
I want to win fargo.
This is your first year forfargo yes, it is fantastic I
mean, I'm so excited, yeah goodwith the team too yeah, what
about is is, and don't get mewrong, everybody wants to.
But is a super 32 belt reallythat big of a deal for you?
Speaker 3 (26:11):
I, I like the
experience.
Uh yeah, personally I'm morefocused on worlds and pan ams.
You know, fargo, it's, it'sjust whatever.
I just like the experience.
Fargo, obviously I want to win.
You know, represent Ohio, butwith super 32, it's whatever
(26:33):
it's just about.
I'm not really worried aboutsuper 32.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
It's a great
competition.
You're like, like you said it's, you're there because you like
the event.
It's great competition.
I think a lot of times we getlost in that, even as parents.
You know, and I'll, I'll, I'llcount of that as parents.
As parents were like, oh my god, if my kid got a super 32 belt,
oh, it's gonna be the best.
Would it be cool?
Yes, it'd be cool.
It's not to be all, end all.
(26:58):
It'd be great to have themwalking all.
Now other coaches might say, oh, that's what a loser says.
Yeah, not really.
I mean, that's what a guy who'strying to help build you know
someone into something else iswhat it's about.
But great accomplishment.
I think we have plenty offriends that are Super 32 champs
.
We've seen the belt, we've heldthe belt.
It's cool.
So, with the future coming, areyou an eighth grader this year?
(27:20):
Are you a freshman this year?
Speaker 3 (27:22):
No, I'm an eighth
grader.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Okay, so you're a
freshman next year.
Yeah.
How does that change in yourenvironment?
Speaker 3 (27:32):
when it comes to
competition.
Do you guys have a high school,a girls' high school team?
I?
Speaker 2 (27:34):
don't know, in your
area.
In your area?
Oh, because you can.
Even though you're homeschooled, you can still go and wrestle
for a team if you want to.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
We have two really
good girls.
We have Kelsey King, okay, andthen we have Cameron Gresham
Okay.
Those are two really reallygood wrestlers.
I just personally I don't knowwhat I'm gonna do for high
school, which is not good, Iknow, for freshman year I might
homeschool again, okay, but forhigh school it's kind of a if
(28:07):
I'd either go to yeah, I'deither go to Harrison High
School or Lakota East, and Ifeel like if I go to one of
those places I won't be able towrestle at, like, my college
opens.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
So it's kind of
giving me, yeah, yeah, look at
the rules.
So, like here, like Liam, liamwrestled in one college open and
it was before the seasonstarted, because once the actual
season starts, you can'twrestle outside of the like wia
competitions.
If you do, it's like two ofthem and you have to get written
, you know, uh, acknowledgementfrom the athletic director, the
(28:42):
principal of your school, stufflike that, which wia is so
archaic, so don't pay attentionwhat we got to do here, but it
could be pretty close to thesame by you guys.
But, yeah, very true point.
You don't know what you'regoing to be able to do, and you
know we've looked at options forLiam too, to just kind of be
able to go to, like you know, finish schooling online and go
down to Virginia and train.
You know things like that.
(29:02):
So, with what you guys havegoing on leaves you open for a
lot of training, a lot theydon't allow.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
They don't allow nil
deals either.
If I go in high school like fora lot of states don't yeah?
I, I was so mad about thatbecause I would want an il deal,
and I'm just like I.
I hope ohio changes that rule.
I hope I.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
I'm pretty sure lots
of wrestlers in ohio hope that
too I think you know, when wetalk about this a little bit on
the show with NIL is a slipperyslope, right?
I think a lot of times we get,I think we get caught up in the
fact that you know it's a bigdollar, you know you can make
some money, which is great andeverybody needs it.
Right and I'd be able to besuccessful.
You want to be set up or, youknow, comfortable as you get
(29:47):
older, but I think a lot oftimes too, there are a lot of
things that have to berecognized.
Within those, you know, there'scontracts and there's small
print and there's ways thatcompanies can want to do some.
Nope, a lot of people arehonest and NIL deals would be
great.
You know they talk about thehigh school thing here too.
Um, I think a lot of parentswould have run to the money,
though.
Yeah.
(30:15):
Or not really thinking about youguys in the best interest a lot
.
You know there's a lot of weirdparents out there.
Um, I'm for it if there's someresponsibility, you know, with
the parents, because you guysare still, believe it or not,
under us, you know.
So we, we have a lot to do withwhat you guys have going on,
but I fear only for the kids ofthe egregious actions of parents
.
Right, I think a lot of kidswould be undermined by their
(30:36):
parents in trying to live off oftheir success.
A lot of parents may not, but Ithink a large majority might
try to do that.
So for kids like you, it's aperfect mix, because then that
gets you guys money to be ableto go somewhere and train and
get to other opportunities anddo things like that.
So I'm, I'm all for it, butthere's, there's just gotta be a
(30:57):
lot of safeguards, you know, yeah, so, but yeah, hey, man, I
again, we're excited to have youon board.
Uh, your, your gear is still onthe website.
Uh, we're going to keep that up.
So keep letting people know.
We'll put another, uh, putanother video out, but we want
to make sure that you aredefinitely looks like you guys
are doing, uh, some fundraising.
So if you guys are out there, check out the fundraising those
(31:19):
those guys are doing, as well asa gofundme no, it's finmo it's
oh, it's okay.
Yeah, because lyrics mom isputting some stuff out, so make
sure that you guys are, um, uh,donating to lyric.
She's got a great chance ofwinning it.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
No better person I
could see advocating for the
lyric such a cool name lyric sowe've raised like a, we've
raised a lot like a lot peopleare donating really good you're
good people yeah you're goodpeople.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
No, no one wants to
put good people down.
They want to lift them up andhelp them out, right.
So well, it's been about 30minutes.
Um, usually, you know, like Ithink, I think that first
episode we have with you is likean hour it was long it was I
don't know.
I don't know how we do.
I don't know how I was able todo it with someone who's like 13
, 14.
Yeah, I was, I was so young?
Speaker 3 (32:07):
wait, we were.
We were talking about it.
Yeah, we needed to make a newone.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
There's so much that
changed yeah well, that's what
I'm saying so much that you'vedone so much, you've
accomplished now.
So, um, everybody stay posted, watch for lyric.
Uh, we're gonna, we're gonnaend this pretty quick, but I,
we're proud of you.
We couldn't be prouder of theaccomplishments you've made you
and congrats to coach noble toowith helping the way, and your
mom for helping the way, andyour parents for getting you to
(32:33):
do the things that you're doing.
And then you staying focusedand confident yourself.
That's important, right?
Stay focused wherever you go.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
We're watching that
sounds weird right, we're not,
we're just watching you wrestle.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
That's all we're
doing.
We're just watching you wrestle.
That's all we're doing.
We're just watching you wrestle.
So, with that being said, I'mstill going to talk to you after
we're done.
Here we're saying bye to you, folks, peace.
Peace.
