(00:25):
Hello and welcome back to theWePivot podcast.
I'm Tona, that you already know, and today we're diving into a
topic that's been on my mindlately and I'm sure it might've
been on yours it's consistency.
But before we get into that, let me share a little story from
(00:45):
my own life that really broughtthis lesson home.
For me, summer around here isthe time for a slightly slower
pace.
Friends and family gettogethers, trips to new places
and festivals almost everyweekend, where it's hard to
determine where you want to go.
(01:06):
Recently in our household, mynephew and niece, who are eight
and six, came to visit us for acouple of weeks.
My husband and I decided tothrow a small barbecue for the
family in our newly renovatedbackyard.
Barbecue for the family in ournewly renovated backyard,
complete with flowers, a patiotable and a wonderful
(01:37):
comfortable patio set nestledunder a beautiful shade tree.
It was the perfect setting forsome summer fun.
We decided to play cornhole, which we had just bought.
We decided to play cornhole, which we had just bought, with
the kids on the patio becauseyou know it would be fun.
As we were playing, my nephewwas doing really well.
He kept scoring all the points, but my niece not so much.
She couldn't quite score anypoints and get those little
(02:05):
beanbags into those holes.
Frustrated, she said she didn'twant to play anymore because
she wasn't good at it.
I told her it's okay thatyou're not good as you want to
be right now.
This is your first time playing.
Give yourself some grace.
You know, if you consistentlypractice, you'll get better.
The word that struck out to mewas consistency.
(02:29):
Isn't this what we fail to dowith our own brands all the time
?
We don't consistently put outthe posts that you've worked so
long to put together.
We don't consistently send theemails or consistently show up
(02:50):
on video so our audience can seeus.
This is where I havespecifically fallen short,
especially with the podcast.
Trying to get on a consistentschedule to put out the content
that you want to hear has been achallenge, with all of the
various things that go on in thesummer with different
(03:12):
priorities taking precedent overthe podcast.
It can become a challenge toput out a podcast consistently,
even though I know it's veryimportant to do so.
But let's talk about whyconsistency is so crucial for
(03:33):
your brand.
Here are three importantreasons why you need to stay
consistent with your brand.
Did you know that if you don'tput out material constantly,
either through an email or apost on social media, people
will forget about you?
Man, that reminds me of when Istarted podcasting with my
(03:56):
husband and we were on top ofthings.
We were making sure that wewere putting out a podcast every
single let's say, week at thetime, or at least once or twice
a month, but we wereconsistently on a regimen and on
schedule.
I would look at the analyticsall the time and I would see the
(04:18):
same individuals showing uplistening from the same places,
and that made me feel good thatpeople were actually listening
in those places and they wereactually getting something from
the podcast.
But then we moved into our newhome and when that happened, our
schedule had totally changed.
(04:40):
We took a year break and noneof those same individuals that
used to listen they weren'tlistening anymore.
It was a new crop of listeners, but it wasn't the same and it
feels like they probably forgotthat we even existed because we
took such a long time to combat.
(05:01):
And in our fast-paced digitalworld, out of sight really can
mean out of mind.
If you're not consistentlyshowing up, your audience can
easily move on to someone who is, you know, being consistent
also helps you to become moreconfident.
The more you practice, thebetter you get.
(05:24):
Just like with my niece withcornhole the more you show up
for your brand, the moreconfident you become in your
messaging and delivery.
If she will continue topractice, she will get better at
making those shots and makingthose scores that count.
People will also trust you moreas the expert when they see you
(05:48):
show up.
Often, consistency builds thattrust.
Like with Google Eat rememberthat podcast.
Like with Google Eat rememberthat podcast.
When your audience knows thatthey can rely on you to provide
value regularly, they see you asan authority in your field.
So there you have it.
My niece's struggle withcornhole taught me a valuable
(06:11):
lesson about consistency and Ihope it inspires you too.
Let's recommit to showing upfor our brands consistently,
even when it's tough.
Remember every bit of effortcounts and over time you'll see
the growth and connection you'reaiming for.
(06:31):
And I say all this to say thatI'm not trying to tell you to
show up in all these placesevery single day, 24-7, but find
a schedule that works for you, that you can actually commit to.
It will definitely help.
If this inspired you to be moreconsistent, let me know by
(06:54):
sending me an email at tona athaywoodsvscom, or if this
message resonated with you, please let me know through that
same email, because I lovehearing from my listeners.
Now, until next time, don'tforget to stay consistent.
