Hurricane Melissa, Northeast Rains, And A Clearing Weekend

It's the 30th day of October.
First, we're going to doMelissa.
Melissa, a hurricane categorythree.
At this point, we'll bediminishing down to a category
two over the next 24 hours.
Maximum winds in and close tothe center of about 100 miles
per hour with some gust up toabout 130 miles per hour.

Again, it's in and close to theeyewall.
As the storm at this pointmoving out of the Bahamas and
now is accelerating towards thenortheast.
Melissa is moving towards thenorth-northeast at about 25
miles per hour and isaccelerating northeastward uh
over the next couple of days.
This forecast track will bringthe core of Melissa uh just to
the west of Bermuda, sometime onThursday night into early

Friday, and then further to thenorth.
Then it'll bring rapidlydiminishing as it goes into the
North Atlantic on Fridays,Saturdays, and Sunday.
Otherwise, on the northeast, wehave some hefty rains that were
across the Carolinas during thelatter portion of Wednesday.
And now most of that rainyweather is moving into eastern
Kentucky, Tennessee, WestVirginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania,

and New Jersey, New York, andmuch of New England.
As the storm is located justover Altoona, Pennsylvania, just
to the west of Harrisburg.
The frontal system from thereextends down from the center of
the low, uh, down across throughthe central Del Marva Peninsula,
right uh to the west of OceanCity, Maryland, and just
offshore of the outer banks ofNorth Carolina as high pressure

starts to build south now out ofthe Great Lakes.
This means it's going to be arainy day for today across the
mid-Atlantic and Northeast,although an improving trend for
D.C.
and Baltimore.
Uh the rains will be at heightduring the afternoon and evening
hours on Thursday in New YorkCity, Philadelphia, and in the
Boston area.
So expect rainy conditions astemperatures go into the 60s
today.
However, we're looking atimproving weather for tomorrow.

Tonight showers andthunderstorms with the next
front moving through, and thenwe get into a clearing trend.
Nighttime lows back into themid-40s.
It looks like uh Sunday topartly Sunday day for Friday,
Saturday, and Sunday as we endOctober on Halloween and begin
the new month of November thisupcoming weekend.
Temperatures.
Daytime will range into thelower 60s, nighttime lows into
the 40s.

Now, if you're flying by airtoday and looking at good
weather in Atlanta and inCharlotte, also Central and
South Florida looking prettygood.
Might be a little bit of rainshower action across Tampa St.
Pete and clear water.
But further south, Fort Myers islooking good, as does Miami,
Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm.
And looking out towards Houstonand Dallas, good weather
expected for there.
Chicago's dry.

Might be a few showers inMinneapolis, but no major
problems weather wise.
And dry conditions finally alongthe west coast.
San Diego, LA, San Francisco,all the way up to Portland, and
up in Seattle.
We're looking at dry conditionsfor your Thursday.
