Mid-Atlantic Chill With Weekend Rain On Deck

Hi, this is Meteorologist Steve Pelletier,
and I am the Weatherman.

Thursdays.
It's the 13th day of November.
Quickly approaching halfwaythrough the month.
Can't believe it in Thanksgivingcoming up very quickly.
We are looking at uh still thatgusty west-northwesterly fall
across the mid-Atlantic.
From the Carolinas north throughthe Virginias and into New

(00:22):
Jersey, Pennsylvania, and uhmuch out central and southern
New England.
You are looking at generallyfair skies, including New York
City and Long Island.
And our weather situation willshow highs today of around 50.
Nighttime blows down to 30 to35.
Generally fair, it's that westwind continues.
Some of the gust up to 30 milesper hour at times.
And then for tomorrow on Friday,also about the same.

We'll start off with some colderreadings.
Now, again, keep in mind the sunrises in the uh east-southeast
and sets in the west-southwest.
And it takes a shorter period ofuh time to go across our skies
instead of going directly overahead.
It's sort of like stays closerto the horizon.
That's indirect sunshine, so youhave a little bit of cloud cover
there.
It really cuts down on theamount of warmth that you get

for this town of year.
That's why November and Decembertends to be on the dark side and
cold.
Looks like uh our start ofmeteorological winter, believe
it or not.
Is the first day of December,and that's just about a little
bit over two weeks away.
So uh the chilly conditionscontinue on to Friday.
Saturday's not looking too bad.
Starts off with some sun, givesway to increasing clouds in the

area, low pressure.
Currently over the west coast,will be sending some moisture
eastward.
And that could bring uh thepossibility of some rain
Saturday night into earlySunday, then a little bit of a
clearing trend before the nextsharp cold front arrives early
next week.
Now, if you're traveling by airtoday, it looks like our weather
is gonna be fair in Atlanta andCharlotte and Central and South
Florida, no problems there.
Weatherwise in Houston andDallas, Fort Worth, it's looking

good.
Also, dry conditions in Chicago,Minneapolis, St.
Paul.
It's the West Coast.
Looks like some rain moving intoLA in San Francisco.
It's gonna be a rainy day today.
Also, quite a bit of rain inPortland and Seattle.
Some pretty heavy downpours areexpected there.
And uh it looks like that rainwill continue through a good
balance of this afternoon andtonight, and then uh hopefully
we'll get a little bit of abreak tomorrow with high

pressure building in from theNorth Pacific.
But in the meantime, most placesare looking weather-wise pretty
good, of course, in the New Yorkarea.
We do have those gusty westwinds.
The runways sometimes aren'tconfigured for those properly.
That means go by the book, andlooks like it takes a little bit
longer to get those inbounds andoutbounds.
So look for about an hour or twodelays in the New York area

because of those strong winds.
No major problems as far as theweather is concerned, except for
the possibility of more snow inBuffalo, Rochester, Messina, New
York, and also up in Burlingtonand northern portions of Vermont
and New Hampshire.
Could be some snow up there andsome pretty hefty amounts in
some of the higher elevationslater on today and tonight.
