"Poor" thinking starts in childhood and is just carried on by default into adulthood. Over time these thoughts become ingrained and encoded in the subconscious mind, leading to automatic habitual thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Hence, history repeats itself, and our brain hides our ability to face this head on!
