It's coming through text andphone calls and emails, but we
just thank you for theencouragement.
Thank you for standing up forus and believing that this could
be possible, and it may not bea big deal to some of you guys
(01:38):
who may be familiar with podcastand listen to podcast, but for
us it's groundbreaking, it'smonumental, and we just want to
just say thank you to everybodythat's been a part of this, that
is supporting us through thisprocess.
Thank you so much, one of thethings that I definitely want to
say before we begin to get intoour episode for today.
(02:02):
I want to just encourage youguys to know that this is not
designed to be, nor do I intendit to be, in just another
podcast.
They call me Mr you is the nameof the podcast, but this
podcast is not about me.
This podcast will highlight aheavy dose of my experiences, my
(02:26):
weird brand of humor yes, I ama bit weird candid stories about
my life, my slip ups, myvictories, my great joys, but at
the end of the day, our focusis going to be very clear and
very directed.
We're focusing on overallhealth.
Please don't be confused bythat.
(02:48):
We may discuss fantasy footballone week.
We may discuss marriage, we maydiscuss gardening and cooking
and small business ownership, but at the end of the day, it is
going to definitely relate tosome aspect of our overall
health.
As we get into the episode,I'll explain a little bit more
(03:08):
about why that is and where thatcame from.
So thanks again for joining usand giving us about 30 minutes
of your time today.
We really appreciate it.
Every week we're going to tryto give you the best content
possible.
So we thank you for trusting inme as your coach today to get
you back in the game and kind ofhelp you make some wins today.
(03:29):
So we just thank you for that.
So what is they Call Me, mr you,all about?
Is it all about Yousef or is itabout something more?
Well, they Call Me Mr you wasessentially born through a
traumatic near-death experiencethat I had last year.
Now, although I've been ablogger for over 12 years now
(03:53):
and I've been writing my entirelife.
What spawned?
They Call Me Mr you as itpertains to a podcast, as it
pertains to being a voice tosome folks that may not have one
.
I had that experience where I,my wife, was at a meeting one
Friday night and I believe it'sWednesday night, excuse me and I
(04:15):
was actually on the floor, passed out.
My blood pressure rose to about153, over 90, something to that
degree the doctor said it was.
Essentially I was 0.2 milesaway from a stroke or even worse
.
So she rushed me to thehospital and we found out what
was going on.
We found out why my bloodpressure shot up the way it did.
(04:36):
It was a combination of thingsthat were going on with me
physically, but what happenedwas that that moment of of kind
of almost essentially seeing mylife flash before my eyes,
knowing in my mind that I didn'taccomplish anywhere close to
the things that I wanted toaccomplish.
(04:57):
I was, even at that point, unfulfilled.
I was unhappy with my job.
I was unhappy with where mylife was headed.
I was unhappy with my finances.
I was unhappy with where mylife was headed.
I was unhappy with my finances.
I was unhappy with my physicalhealth and my weight.
I was unhappy with a lot ofthings mentally and in every
other way, and that honestlybegan to cause some questions in
(05:21):
me.
What were you willing to changeto have what you want?
What are we willing to do toaccomplish your goals?
How far would you go to seethese goals realized?
And having that near-deathexperience?
It made me think aboutsituations that happened years
(05:42):
prior losing a grandmother todementia and Alzheimer's
Probably my best friend at thetime and to look at her in her
eyes and she looked at me andnot even know my name To lose a
father who I was just gettingready to really get to know and
(06:04):
he died of a sudden aneurysm inhis brain, and then to have
family members that had beenfighting cancer.
From all accounts, they'rewinning the battle, but it's
still a battle.
It's still something that canbefall anybody at any time.
And then you add to this acouple of close family members
(06:28):
that we lost to COVID this year.
And then all that's going onwith the pandemic and all the
hundreds of thousands of livesthat are being lost due to this
virus.
It has to make you think aboutyour mortality.
It has to make you think aboutwhere your life is.
It has to make you think aboutpurpose and are you being the
(06:50):
best that you can be?
Are you doing the most that youcan do?
That's what spawned they CallMe Mr you as a podcast.
I was always writing articlestrying to encourage, enlighten
and educate my friends andfamily and followers.
But that's what's fun thepodcast.
I wanted to be a voice, notbecause I'm a self-help guru I'm
(07:12):
not.
Not because I'm a doctor I'mnot.
I don't even have a doctorate,but I have enough experience and
enough God-given wisdom to knowthat, without my overall health
, a lot of other things pale inimportance, and that's what I
(07:34):
wanted the podcast to become.
We're going to have fun.
We're going to enjoy each other, we're going to have great
conversations.
We're going to talk aboutthings that we like, things that
we love and things that we hate.
We're going to discuss it all.
Everything's going to be on thetable.
It may not be a topic that wewant to talk about.
We might talk about marriageand politics.
We may talk about a whole bunchof different things.
(07:54):
At the end of the day, it'sgoing to definitely relate back
to our overall health because,in my opinion, in the opinion of
your coach, that's the mostimportant focus we need to have,
and we're going to talk aboutthat a little bit further as we
get into this episode.
So, what's been going on withyou guys?
How have you been handling 2020?
(08:15):
How has 2020 been handling you?
Are you learning anything aboutyourself during this time?
Sometimes, adversity has theability to be the greatest
teacher.
Are you learning about youright now?
Are your fingers pointed atsomebody else and what they're
doing or not doing?
What are you doing right so far?
(08:38):
Where have you clearly gottenit wrong this time?
It's time for someself-evaluation.
It's time to start thinkingabout some things differently.
What lessons are you learningduring this time?
One of the things that I careabout when it comes to they Call
Me Mr you and this podcast isthat I want to speak to the
(09:01):
people who are dealing with anunfulfilled life.
Speak to the people who aredealing with an unfulfilled life
, people who know that they needhelp, but they've been too
prideful or too ashamed to askfor it.
It's not that we have all theanswers here they call me Mr you
but we may have resources, wemay have friends that can help.
We may have somebody in ournetwork that may have an answer.
(09:22):
So that's why we definitelystressing an interactive
relationship.
I can talk to you about my lifestories all day long.
I have plenty of them.
I can feel hundreds andhundreds of hours of episodes
and podcasts.
It wouldn't be hard at all, butI want your guys involved.
I want you guys to be a part ofthis.
(09:42):
So I want it to be interactive.
So I'm going to reference oursocial media handles, probably
more than once Our Facebook pageat theycallmemisteryou.
That's also where we have aFacebook group, a Facebook
community that I so love, calledthe Mirror Time Community.
We deal with self-reflection.
(10:02):
We talk about the topics thatwe discussed in articles that
are published on the call me, mrYoucom, or the podcast episode
that we talk about, such as thisone.
We talk about that in a safespace.
We have very strict rules aboutbehavior and content and and
(10:24):
and the things that we say andhow we communicate with each
other.
We're very strict about that, but it's a very safe space.
I definitely invite you to joinus in our Maritime community on
Facebook.
We love that.
If you guys are Twitter users atTCM, mr U at TCM, m-i-s-t-a-y-u
, please leave your questionsfor us on Twitter.
(10:45):
We'd love to hear some of yourthoughts and perhaps at the end
of every episode on our podcast,we may even share some of your
tweets.
Let our audience know whatyou've been talking about, what
you've been thinking, maybe evenshare some of your stories and
experiences.
Whatever you decide to share onTwitter, as well as Instagram
at theycallmemisteryou, pleasealso feel free to use that.
(11:06):
We definitely share some ofthose ideas and thoughts you may
have there as well.
So here we are.
We're in 2020.
And now, health is one of thebiggest issues we can face.
I definitely want to emphasizethat.
I also want to emphasize that Icare about the whole person.
If you go onto our website, theycallmemisterucom, on the
(11:31):
blog page, you'll see pinned atthe top, the premier article,
meaning that's the one thattells you all about us.
It tells you what our goal iswith this podcast.
It tells you what our goal iswith this company and with the
articles that we write.
It tells you what the plan is.
(11:52):
It breaks it down.
We're going to discuss the fivefingers of health Physical,
spiritual, mental, emotional,financial.
If you ever had an injury toyour hand before, whether it be
a pinky or a thumb, you realizehow difficult it is to do
anything with that hand.
It's hard to put on your socks.
It's hard to button or unbuttonyour pants.
(12:16):
It's hard to turn a doorknob.
It's hard to cook.
It's hard to pick up objectswith that hand, all because of
one finger.
It almost immobilizes theentire hand.
All because of one finger.
It almost immobilizes theentire hand.
It doesn't negate it entirely, but it limits its effectiveness.
It's not much different thanthe five fingers of health that
we'll be discussing throughoutthis episode and in future
(12:38):
episodes.
The five fingers of health arephysical, spiritual, mental,
emotional and financial.
I don't know about you, butanytime I've had a challenge in
one of those areas, I've come tofind out that it usually is a
challenge in the other areas aswell, just like with that human
(12:58):
hand.
So we're going to be discussingthat at length and don't be
thrown off by the episode topicsor the topics or the articles
that we, that I write.
Don't be thrown off by that.
We can be talking about cooking, which I have a strong
background in.
I used to be a chef at some atone point in time.
I still cook, but things havechanged a little bit with that.
(13:19):
Marriage, gardening, sports andfamily, fantasy, football,
excuse me Entrepreneurship, parenting, parenting these are
all things that we're going totalk about.
These are all things we'regoing to discuss at the end of
the day, towards the end of theconversation, towards the end of
the episode.
It's always going to point backto one of these fingers of
(13:41):
health.
Yes, I'm advocating we shoulddefinitely support all five, we
should definitely nourish andstrengthen all five fingers of
health, but every episode isgoing to point back to that.
I want to encourage you again.
It's time to get back in thegame.
This is not the time to give up.
It feels like an easier option, but it's not the time to give
(14:05):
up.
It's time to get back.
It feels like an easier option, but it's not the time to give
up.
It's time to get back in thegame.
I'm your coach.
I'm going to try to help youout with that.
So are you just starting to payattention to your health?
What's causing that suddenrevelation that your health is
important?
Is it watching what's going onwith the pandemic?
Is it personal experiences thatare very close to you that's
happening like it happened to me?
(14:25):
What Is it personal experiencesthat are very close to you
that's happening Like ithappened to me?
What's causing you to startpaying more attention to your
health lately?
Also, which finger have youneglected the most?
Some people focus on financialand they forget all about their
physical health.
They forget all about theiremotional health.
Which is the finger that youhave honestly neglected the most
?
Feel free to share that with uson our Facebook page, as they
(14:47):
call me, mr U, as well as onTwitter at TCM Mr U.
We'd love to hear your thoughts, and again at the end of every
episode.
If we have some tweets or someposts that we'll share.
We'll definitely share yourstories and share your questions
here on our podcast.

I'm sure you part.
Do you play?
What's your role?
I'm sure you can find a podcastwhere the person is just
(15:30):
talking and you're justlistening.
Sounds pretty simple and easy, doesn't require much from you,
but just your attention, if youprovide all of that.
But I'm asking for somethingdifferent today.
Stay with us, we'll be rightback.

Let me know what you think.
Much of you, if you don'talready know me personally, but
if you have read, already knowme personally.
But if you have read any of ourarticles, you know that my
background although I have anextensive background in a lot of
different areas I guess I'm ajack of all trades.
(16:54):
I've been a music and recordingartist, a singer and songwriter
.
I've been in the corporateworld doing administration and
operations for the government.
I've done a lot of things.
I've been a chef in restaurantshere in the Charleston, south
(17:15):
Carolina area.
I've done a lot of things, butone of the things that I have
done and still do beside mywriting and beside authoring
books, one of the things that Istill do is I still mentor and
coach.
Usually the coaching relates tothings of a personal nature
relationships, self-reflection,but also business coaching.
(17:37):
I help coach entrepreneurs whowant to build a business or who
want to build a business for thefirst time.
So coaching and mentoring iskind of at the core of what I do
most, but your part in theprocess is pretty critical.
I can talk to you for 30 minutesabout pretty much anything.
(17:57):
I have loads of stories andexperiences to share, but I want
your involvement.
That's why I gave you oursocial media handles.
I want you to be involved.
I want you to share yourquestions, share your
experiences, if you feelcomfortable doing that.
Share your stories.
If it's okay with you, I'llshare those on the air every
week, every episode.
I'll share them in ourcommunity, our Maritime
(18:20):
community, at TheyCallMeMrU onFacebook.
I want you guys to be involved.
This is interactive.
I want you to share your ideasfor future articles that I'm
going to write.
I want you to share your ideasfor future podcast episodes.
What are we going to talk about?
What would you like us to talkabout?
(18:41):
What's going to be enrichingand fulfilling to you that your
coach talks about on this weeklypodcast?
We'd love to hear your thoughtson that.
So what's your part in theprocess?
It's pretty simple to me, butI'll share it right now.
First, listen to the podcast.
Every week.
We're going to bring content toyou and we're going to try to
(19:04):
be a voice in your ears but bevaluable to you during this time
.
So hopefully our podcastsstrike a nerve.
Hopefully our podcasts meet aneed.
We hope they're encouraging andenlightening and educational.
So we're hoping the podcast isdoing that for you.
(19:25):
If nothing else, maybe I makeyou laugh, perhaps I'll make you
think I don't want to make youcry, but if that happens, this
is us being honest, this is usbeing family, this is us being
community.
What's your part in the process?
Read the articles.
There's over 200 articles outthere on theycallmemisteryoucom
(19:46):
right now.
Yeah, that's a lot of reading, but it gives you so much insight
and I really believe with allmy heart that in one of those
articles is a nugget that'sthere just for you to speak to
the problem that you currentlyare dealing with or that you
have dealt with and stillhaven't found the answer to.
I believe one of those articlesis going to help encourage you,
(20:08):
help put you in the rightdirection.
So there's a lot of articlesout there.
By all means, please subscribeon our same page at
theycallmemisteryoucom and getthose new articles to your email
inbox when they come out butread the articles that are
already there.
Read what's already beenpublished.
I pray it really helps you out.
So take a look at that.
(20:28):
Ask questions.
That's what I want the socialmedia handles to be used for.
Ask us questions, share yourexperiences, share your stories.
Stay connected.
Honestly, I learned through mymedical situation, but also
through other life experiences, especially this year, that this
really works best if you getinvolved.
(20:49):
We accomplish a lot moretogether than we do alone.
This is spoken from somebodywho was a renowned lone wolf.
I didn't like asking for help.
I was proud.
I thought I didn't like askingfor help.
I was proud.
I thought I can do it on my own.
A bit selfish, and I thoughtthat I can do it better than the
(21:13):
person I was asking for helpfrom or I could ask for help
from.
But I realized today maybe it'smy old age, maybe it's just
wisdom, but I know I can't dolife alone and you know what?
Neither can you.
So we're in this together.
I'm encouraging you guys to getback in the game.
I'm your coach and I want tohelp you.
(21:34):
Today.
We can do much more togetherthan we can by ourselves.
So use those social mediahandles on Twitter at TCM
M-I-S-T-A-Y-U TCM Mr U.
On Twitter, on Instagram orFacebook at they call me Mr U
M-I-S-T-A-Y-U.
Use those social media handles, reach out to us, comment on the
(21:58):
articles ontheycallmemisterucom.
We'd love to hear your thoughts, love to hear your thoughts.
We'd love to hear your insights.
If there's something you don'tagree with, we'd love to hear
that too.
Let's engage some discussion, let's talk about it, but let's
have fun, let's learn from eachother, let's grow.
It's one of the things that, ifI looked around, if I put all
(22:26):
of the country in a big pictureor the world in a big picture
that's what I would say.
I was giving a message to theentire world.
We can learn so much from eachother if we just listen to each
other, we just actively listento each other.
We learn so much that we didn'tknow, we realize how small our
view is in our own minds.
So let's use theseopportunities that we have today
, our social media handles, ourFacebook community at Maritime
(22:49):
Community and let's begin tosupport each other.
Let's share, let's network.
One of the things that we'redefinitely going to do during
our time together and you'll seethat in coming weeks we're
going to do, we're going to usesome of those experiences that
I've had, like, for example, Itold you I used to be a chef, so
(23:10):
we're definitely going to sharerecipes the healthy recipes and
perhaps maybe thenot-so-healthy ones.
We'll try to keep those to aminimum Gluten-free, vegan and
vegetarian recipes.
Some fun recipes for the kidsvideos of me cooking in my
(23:31):
kitchen.
I might want to rethink thatone.
Exercise tips quarantine andnon-quarantine exercise tips for
those that can't afford ordon't want to utilize a gym
membership right now.
We'll be dealing with that.
I may even be gutsy enough todo some fitness challenges.
No promises, but you never know.
We're going to talk about allthe five fingers of health.
(23:51):
We're going to share ideas.
We're going to share gardeningtips.
Yeah, garden, believe it or not.
We're going to talk about music, entrepreneurship, even social
justice and politics those heavyhitters.
We're going to talk about music, entrepreneurship, even social
justice and politics those heavyhitters.
We're going to talk aboutmarriage.
Any sports fans out there?
We can talk about sports too.
(24:12):
Talk about how your team isdoing.
We're going to talk about alittle bit of everything,
because all of those things thatwe engage in, all those things
that we connect with, guess what?
They all have a part or a roleto play in our overall health.
They all make a difference inthat area.
(24:32):
So I want to encourage you guysstay in the process, stay in
the game.
I don't know what you're goingthrough.
I want to take the time just tospeak to you.
That person who has been prettyclose to giving up, that person
has said nobody cares, I'm inthis alone.
(24:54):
Listen to those voices that saythis is the end.
You can't do any more than this.
I'm here to say to you that youcan do exceedingly and above,
above all, you can ever ask orthink because of the power that
lives inside of you.
You're better than what youthink you are.
You can be more successful andmore purposeful than you think
(25:18):
you are.
And although it may seem asthough you're by yourself, you
might even be in isolation, buthonestly, somebody else is going
through the same exact thingyou're going through.
I've seen it a million times.
(25:39):
You're never really by yourself.
You never really even alone inyour own struggle.
Somebody else may have theanswer, somebody may have come
out on the other side of it andcan live to tell about it.
You're not by yourself.
And what I'm hoping that theycall me Mr you will do for you
and do for us as a whole isallow us to know that, that we
(26:04):
don't have to do life alone.
We're not by ourselves.
We can accomplish so much moretogether than we can by
ourselves.
So please use our social mediaplatforms, reach out, share your
questions, share yourexperiences.
If I have your consent, I'llshare those tweets and
experiences on the air.
We'll get through this together, like we always have and like
(26:30):
we always will.
We got the victory.
As a matter of fact, it's allthe games already won.
So, guys, please don't quit, don't give up.
Get back in the game.
So, for all you guys thatdidn't hear, please don't quit,
don't give up, get back in thegame.
