This is my favorite podcast.

We used to have a dolly partonpodcast on the drive over here I
was actually reminiscing.
I was like man, I just misseven just meeting up once a week
with you boys.

Well, I told you, we're in talks right now.
We're being, I guess, on apretty big local podcast pretty

But, like I said, you're goingthrough the MCU right now.
Last time you came on thepodcast, we talked about Garden
of the Galaxy.
You were caught up until thatpoint, but now we're all the way
up to Captain America, braveNew World.
You're not 100% there yet, butyou're enough to really
understand what's going on andenjoying it right.

Yeah, yeah, the shows I'll get to, but the main thing
I wanted to do was I wanted togo to an opening day theater
release of a movie that I knowstuff about, and I did that,
finally, for a Marvel movie thisis my first one.
I missed all the AvengersEndgame, all of that.
I missed everything.

I don't want to say you started on a bad note,
because this theater crowd iskind of mid.
Usually there's a lot morecheering in this are you kidding
me?
I know.
Not the movie itself we'retalking about like, uh, just the
crowd reactions.
A lot of times there's cheering.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I thought that was a packed out theater it was packed
and when uh, what's his name?
Came on the screen, everybodycheered.
I was like I don't ever getthat in any other movie.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
That's a new thing to me cheering, yeah, um, there
wasn't a whole lot of that,though maybe like one scene I
can think of, but did it live upto everything that you wanted
to?
Yeah, it was better thanexpected are you a big Captain
America fan?

nah, he's okay he's okay.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, I like him.
He's probably like my top five,I would say, not top three,
though he's no, thor.
Yeah, thor's pretty badass.
Thor was my number three, Ithink.
I think he goes Spider-Man, itmight be Thor actually
Spider-Man.
Thor Wolverine, if we'recounting X-Men already.
Yeah.

I like Thor, I like the Hulk.

I'm excited to get into thatdeep dive we're going to talk to
, but that's going to be justthe first movie.
We're talking about captainamerica, brave new world.
We're also going to be doing athrowback episode, a throwback a
movie.
In this episode, um, you pickedden of thieves, which is a good
time, because the den ofthieves just came out last month
in theaters.
I wasn't planning on seeing denof thieves 2, but after
watching the first one, I'm morelikely to go see it now.

uh, I think brandon showed it to me one night, uh a
couple years ago I'm not surewhen it came out 2018, but uh,
it was on my mind.
I tried to watch it, uh not toolong ago, and I was unable to
finish, so I came back to it andthen next thing I know I'm on
your podcast.
I'm like, all right, let'swatch some Den of Thieves All
the stars just aligned.

Yeah, yeah, I'm a big collector.
I don't know if you can seebehind you.

I got Thor's hammer Iron Man's helmet.

I saw that I around he's, yeah, he's okay, I see
some shields.

I see some doorknobs yeah I see some posters yeah I
see a lot yeah, captain ray'spretty dope.

I cosplayed as a one year, if you believe that or not
I've, yeah, I saw pictures yeah, yeah, would you ever cosplay?

, let's go into the actual movietheater experience to talk
about.
Well before that, there was alot leading up to this movie.
You just finished watchingfalcon and the winded soldier on
disney plus that came out, Ithink, 2021 that's the second

marvel tv show that I've watched.

What's the first one?
Uh, daredevil.
You finished it already.
I didn't finish it, but I'veseen it.
Oh well, Daredevil is comingback within a month.
Yeah, that'll be next.

I don't know if you knew this, but there is
something on Marvel Projectbeing released every single
month of this year animatedseries.
Obviously february was umcaptain america, march's
daredevil, april, uh, some othershow, but may is going to be
thunderbolts.
You know I can't remember themall right now, but there's a lot
going on for them over rightnow I'm excited for thunderbolts

The first trailer came out and Iwas not that impressed by it.
But the second one came out wasmore showing the villain of the
movie and I thought I'm I'mexcited for it.
It looks cool yeah.

I just want the Marvel experience I'm like all
Marveled out right now.

Yeah, I can tell.
And one of the things and notMarvel themselves doing, but AMC
movie theaters are doing,they're coming up with cool,
creative popcorn buckets.
Did you peep those?

I saw them there I was like wow, that's a really
cool Captain America popcornbucket.
I would have loved to get myhands on one.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Well, not only did I peep them, I got my hands on
them.
We're going to go review someof these popcorn buckets.
I'm going to start off with theleast cool ones and go into the
cooler ones.

All right, this one is not a popcorn bucket, but
it's actually a cup.
I'm a popcorn connoisseur, bythe way.
Oh really, I didn't know thatabout you.
Oh yeah, I love popcorn.
Yeah, didn't you go to collegefor that?
No, oh okay, I must have beenstuck in you for somebody, but I
have a popcorn machine in myhouse.

I got the cinnabon seasoning, so yeah, I take the
popcorn to flavor town.
What's the difference betweencinnabon seasoning and cinnabon?

I mean cinnamon seasoning the cinnabon tastes
like like cinnabon.
You're eating like that ooeygooey center of the Cinnabon in
every bite of the popcorn.

Probably the unhealthiest part of the popcorn

Oh yeah, I mean no Cinnabon.

Anyways, going back to the cups, this is actually
Captain America cup.
I love the texture of it.
The design of it looks cool.
The front of it's like for thewings.
That's a durable cup.

right there too, it has a lid too.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
That's the shield, but it's on the why they need to
do the Captain America shield.
I lost a straw within like fromthe theater to the parking lot.
It must have fell out.
I thought it was like one ofthose thicker ones that wouldn't
fall off, but I'm still likesore, like you could throw pens
in there Pens in there orsomething like that.
Yeah, pencils, the possibilitiesare endless Markers, crayons.

The second one is what I wasexcited.
When I seen pictures of this,I'm a little bit disappointed
the size of it.
It's the aviator helmet for thenew Captain America.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Oh nice.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, not only is it nice, you open up the top of his
head and it puts it in there,but not only does it hold
popcorn, it's also a light.
It's kind of light right now,but his eyes light up too red
it's pretty sick, right.

Can I see that one?

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah, this is cool.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
You can only fit barely any popcorn in here,
though yeah, I wish it was likea little bit bigger, like I said
, but it's very light been there.
Yeah, what would you rate thisone out of 10, this popcorn
bucket?

that popcorn bucket out of 10 gets four big booms.

This one is actually shapedenough, uh for a captain america
shield that.
I really like, I like that I'veseen this and I had to go buy
it immediately.
Well, I had somebody buy it forme those were sick.

It was cool watching people walk around carrying
those uh-huh, but you flip it on.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
It's like wow, it's down, there's captain america,
oh, it turns into a popcornbucket that that's a mega bucket
, yeah, and it has, like thiscool new logo on the front of it
.
It's kind of hard to get itstuck in there, but I thought
this thing was badass.
It's huge Humongous, isn't it?

And not only can you put the popcorn where the
popcorn goes, along the sides,you could put some a pretzel dog
you know, maybe a.

You know, maybe a soft pretzel, I don't know.
Reese's pieces.
They can fit around the edges,man, yeah, would you put donut
holes in there?

good values, and that's whatcaptain america stands for, my
friend all of those three orfour things that I just said
you're feeling like prettypatriotic this week, right a
little bit, is it?
because, like it's just CaptainAmerica, because that movie was
way more patriotic than Ithought it was going to be,

because I mean we'll get into it, but they had the whole
presidency and everything, andthat's all fresh in all of our
minds, regardless of whether youpay attention to that or not.
So to have that kind of side ofthings intertwined into the
movie Right now.

Well, I wouldn't say he's my president.
I mean, let's take it easy,didn't you?

Okay, captain America , brave New World.
This is the fourth CaptainAmerica.
This movie actually gotannounced on the season premiere
of the Falcon Awareness Soldiershow.
I mean this is kind ofsomething that happens in the
comics.
Sam Wilson does get the shieldin the beginning.
I mean the comic books.
So, going to the show, I meanthe movie.
It wasn't a big deal.

I think you'd like this movieway more than I did.
You seen the.
I think you'd like this movieway more than I did You've seen.
I feel like the only two showsyou have to watch before this
movie is Incredible Hulk andEternals.

I went into this seeing the Incredible Hulk.
Didn't see the Eternals,however, I watched it last night

I watched it last night.
It's a long ass movie right.
It was a long movie but Ireally enjoyed it.
I kind of looked into it alittle bit before, because you
said that I should watch it.

I was like, nah, I'm not doing that, so I hit the
spark notes, did something clickin it Like, oh, that's a
reference to this.
Yeah, it did no-transcript anexplanation about it behind all

I mean we could talk about the eternals another time,
but, like, even at the end ofwatching the eternals last night
I was thinking okay, so do allof the other people in the
marvel universe know about thesepeople?

no right not that we're aware of and I don't think
we're ever gonna find out,because the movie wasn't well
received.
This was like the first, if I'mnot mistaken, second movie, um,
that was released pre postcovid, so because of that it was
released on disney plus itwasn't in theaters.

Very not well received I I tried to watch it
before when I was going in thetimeline because it was the next
up, and think me and Pat werewatching it shout out.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Pat he's like your falcon in this movie, yeah but
anyways, yeah, he got shot down,stupid.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
But uh, we got like 20 minutes in and we were like,
yeah, this movie sucks.
It did it sucked.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
But we watched it last night, I think.
Uh, it originally had a sequelplanned out and it got canceled
because it was badly received.
So you're never really gonnafind out what happened.
The characters at the end of it.
On top of that, there was anend credit scene that was like
blade related.
Uh, you know how.
That one guy was picking up asword and I don't know who blade
is.
He's a vampire slayer.
He's like a hybrid, like he'shalf vampire, okay it's a good.

He's kind of like a buffy, thevampire type thing, going on
kind of yeah, yeah I've neverseen that either you mean,
either um, and I also want totalk about anthony mackie
himself.
He's been having a blast goingaround absolute dog he's a great
actor.

Yeah, awesome, he got a performance.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
He got emotional on the red carpet of this.
You know this is the firstmovie that it's his people are
coming to see his movie.
You know he's always been apart of bigger movies but he got
a pretty emotional about that.
I've been watching love,enjoying him going around
marketing this thing, because hetalks very passionate about the
character, about marvel itself.
You know he's very proud and II like seeing that off screen I

don't know if you knew likeFallout Superman with Henry
Cavill.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
He was a great.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Superman pick, but off camera.
It just seemed like he didn'tcare about playing the character
at all, which I'm sure is notthe case, but that's what came
off off screen.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
If you're going to be Captain America, that's
something that's bigger thanyourself A thousand percent.
So that's good that he'sputting that on his shoulders
like that.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
I respect that he talks about how he relates to
this character, because, youknow, one of the themes of this
movie is about America acceptinga black man being Captain
America, and that's the samething with real life Anthony
Mackie, a black man taking overthe role of Captain America in
movies.
Even though it happened in thecomics, people are still kind of
upset about that.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Oh yeah, movies.
You know, even though ithappened to comics, people are
still kind of upset about that.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Oh yeah it is this exact same scenario.
Yeah, did you enjoy the showfalcon?
And?
winter soldier, it was okay yeah, I didn't hate it uh I think I
was just a little turned offbecause I didn't need to watch
it to watch this movie so I'mglad you said that and one of
the things we're jumping alittle bit ahead at this point
right now, but I want to getinto that the whole.
One of the biggest themes aboutthe falcon and winter soldier

is, like I said, americaaccepting a black captain.
America also.
It's sam wilson trying to kindof factors.
Okay, steve chose me for areason I should be here.
You know he was.
He was self-doubting himselfand they redid the same thing in
this movie and I was like whywe already got a whole ass show
with the same theme.
Like I don't need to hear himcry about this even more.

You know, yeah, and it wasn'tuntil spoiler alert, it wasn't
until bucky came in a picture totell him the same exact thing
steve told you for a reason.
I was like, dude, are you gonnacry about?
and he's gonna have to come wipeyour tears every time seriously
like just do it just yeah, Iwas like quit crying about this
dude like you're here for areason, for being a human with

no super soldier, serum.

He was badass in this movie, like fighting these
big-ass villains, fighting thefucking hawk there were, yeah,
there were multiple times when Ithought there's no way he could
survive like it's like the hulkI see him human.

I see him literally just running down the streets
like my ass will be dead by.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
It was his suit, though, bro, that suit was
awesome made by the news the newsuit.
The new suit was sweet made bythe captain america like.
Imagine me right now in acaptain america suit, but like
with wings yeah, like wakandanabandon manium protecting me
from any type of force.

I'm kind of having a tough time picturing you like
with the og shield, with the ogshield, hell yeah.
Um, all right, let's just getinto it, because we're going to
talk about this and I don't knowif we officially said we're
gonna talk about the first denof these in the second half of
this episode.
Um so, captain america, a bravenew world.
Sam wilson, the new captainamerica, finds himself in the

middle of an internationalincident that must discover the
motive behind a nefarious globalplan directed by julia julius
ona, written by rob edwards andstory by rob edwards.
Sorry, okay, overall reaction Ithought this movie was
incredibly mid.
I don't even think there wasnothing special about this movie
.
I think it's very forgettable.
It didn't add anything new tothe mcu.

(16:31):
I should say, like the villain,the red hawk yeah, he gets
defeated at the end of the movie, but I don't think we're ever
going to see him again.
On top of that, the red thehawk is the incredible hawks
villain, one of his villains,and so was the, the main person,
uh, not the main person, thethe villain samuel stearns.
That's a hulk villain, um sothis movie was more of a hulk

movie than it was captainamerica I think it would have
been way better.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
I first of all, I love, I love this movie first of
all.
So I'm not knocking this movie,but it would have been way
better if they didn't includethe Hulk in any of the trailers
or anything.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
A thousand percent, because the trailer showed the
entire time.
The Hulk was in there.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Because I think the scene where they showed him
turning into the Hulk we allknew Right Because we saw.
But can you imagine if wedidn't see?

That would have been incredible.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Everybody in the theater would have been
incredible.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Everybody in the theater would be like oh, it's
the hulk on top of that.
That was like the climax of themovie.
Yeah, that was the third act,what?
Like it was ruined.
I was kind of disappointing.
Yeah, it's fine.
Um, it was kind of ruined I.
I was disappointed in that.
Um, you know the but the actionscenes.
There was like several fightingscenes throughout the whole

movie and it was pretty good.
The fighting scenes were not asgood as the original Captain
America because compared to this, this just seemed so simple
Like punch punch dodge, punchpunch dodge, but in between them
there was like 30 differentcuts for one punch scene.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
That felt like I feel like these action scenes are
more impressive, though, becausethe other Captain America had
the serum.
This one's just a human.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Yeah, if I want to watch real people fight, I'm
just talking WWE, yeah, but thisis Captain America, captain.
America will punch you throughthe fucking wall.
Nah, not this one.
That's what I'm saying.
I don't care what this guy does, okay, but he was interesting.
He was definitely a badass.
I'm not knocking hisperformance at all in this movie

It just almost didn't feel likehis movie, though, which just
sucks.
A character that stood out tome, though, was the new Falcon
in this movie, played by DannyRamirez.

I could tell early on that they were going to focus a
lot on him Because hispersonality early on the way he
was making jokes and everything.
They didn't show any of that inthe TV show.
He was definitely a greatsidekick in this movie yeah,
definitely, but in the TV showhe was way more bland.

Yeah.

Way more bland.

He didn't have much screen time, I guess.
I guess that's true, but thisone, yeah, he's another one that
goes on marketing and talkingabout interviews, how proud he
is to be a hero, and stuff likethat on big screen, which is
cool yeah it's tight.
I mean the Falcon, just thewings alone is such an advantage
.
I feel like it's badass.

Oh bro, if you can fly, that's a step up.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Right, because even the Captain America can do that.
Yeah yeah, this movie was justokay in funnies it's not well.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I guess the other captain americans weren't that
funny no, yeah, just like anymarvel movie, they say a couple
things here and there.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
That's like, oh, that was kind of funny uh, one of
the biggest thing we talkedabout, the president, uh,
thaddeus ross, played by henryford in this movie.
He replaces the other thaddeusross.
Let me look up his name.
I'm sorry, uh, william hurt,which in real life he tragically
died, but I would have enjoyedhis role a million times better

if it was hurts instead of umharrison.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
I thought harrison ford did a a good job, though,
like looking like hurts andsounding like hurts and acting
like hurts I feel like I waslike envisioning.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
I feel like like Hertz is almost a foot taller
than I am.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
I was envisioning in my head.
This is the same guy.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Really.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Yeah, because I like Harris before, but I didn't like
him in this, couldn't trust him.
Captain America said we can'twork for him.
Yeah, can't work for him.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yeah, you caught on pretty early.
It's almost like you're likeCaptain America, yeah, yeah,
okay, yeah, okay, I'm makingconnections there.
Um, I had a blast watching itthough, but would I watch it
again in theaters?

Speaker 1 (20:30):
probably not oh no, yeah, it wasn't like that good.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
It was good, though I thought yeah, I don't want to
give too much away in spoilers,but there's nothing too much
spoil like let's go down theline because the cost.
Let's talk about the costumesin general because like they
were definitely a step up, notjust, uh, falcon, I mean captain
america, but falcons as wellyeah, uh, falcon was basically
just like army captain america,army green captain or army green
uh, the falcon, but army greenbut then how they made the red

hawk look in this movie.
They made it look a lot morelike harrison ford than the like
Mark Ruffalo.
You know what I?

mean, Did you did it?
I thought it was the exact sameface and everything.
That's what I'm saying.

For not the Hulk but the Red Hawk.
Yeah, yeah, that's.
I was impressed how they didthat.
I liked it.

Oh, I thought it looked like just the Hulk's face

Okay, like Green Hulk, but red.

I was very surprised, and a little bit disappointed,
that the Hulk didn't make anappearance in this movie.
I thought he would, at onepoint, right To stop Red Hulk or
maybe just have it like Ithought he was going to visit
him at the raft at least andlike you said, there's so many
mentions to the Hulk as far asthe villains who they are Like
might as well include the Hulk.

You know why there's not another Incredible Hulk
movie?

card and they're gonna have toturn on.

yeah, well, they have lived by code, yeah they don't
shoot cops they don't shoot cops.
They also don't shoot, like orhurt innocent people exactly you

that he did, but they didn'treally do it.
So they do live by like a moral.
But this one was likeunpreventable after he shot a
cop they ended up doing ashootout but they did get away
by stealing the truck.
Now the stump the cops was likewhy would you want to steal a

And my mind, cause I work, youknow they have a Brink truck,
but you don't know why they'regoing to do it.
So obviously they're going tobe looking for that one.
They took out the GPS trackingdevice in there.

And if you see it on the street like say, say, they
painted all the other trucks,this is why I like movies like
this yeah because you couldthink about the planning of the
heist and it reminds me of grandtheft auto, because a thousand
percent the main mission ingrand theft auto.

Depository.
That's exactly what they'redoing here.

But I mean they got caught, butbut he was the only one that
got shot.
He got shot in the butt.

He's coming on a lot of stuff yeah, okay, I've only
ever seen him in this.
And uh, shredder comptpton.

I was kind of nervous about this because he came in
that I was so nervous I wasnever going to be able to
picture him in anything else butthat role, because it's his dad

He looks just so similar.

But he killed it.
In this role he was very good,he was interesting.

He did nothing crazy to make it his own role, but I
like seeing him in this roleturns out being like the star of
the movie, too kind of yeah,yeah, at the end of the movie
and the one thing I just loveabout heist movies like you're
always guessing what's going on,you're trying to connect the
dots as you're going along,because these guys are pro, they
thought about every littlething and it was.
It's fascinating.

And then you're also gettingthe perspective of the cop side,
trying to put it together too,and so we're mostly viewing this
for the cop side, I would say.
True, played by gerard butler,who's a badass.
But, like I said, if you thinkabout this character and put him
in real life, like this guy's ajackass oh yeah, I thought he
was a jackass in the in themovie they added

that's what I'm talking aboutyeah, but they added, um, a lot
of random characteristics aboutsome of these characters that
had nothing to do with the movie.
Like he drew up, all hischaracter was going through an
ugly divorce.
At the time he was a drunk andI feel like they just totally
abandoned that idea in thesecond half of the movie.
He never mentioned it.
That one scene with 50 cent andhis, his daughter, had a
boyfriend come over to pick himup and they all scared him.

It was a funny scene andnothing to do with the whole
fucking movie.
50 cent wasn't even a maincharacter, like that for him to
do that it was a funny scenethough it was funny, but like it
was kind of lame as shit.
Uh, just a hater.
I am kind of hating on thismovie because, like I said it's
it could have been a lot better.
I was very entertained, thoughit took me like maybe two days

to watch this movie because Ipaused halfway through.
I couldn't take enough of it.
It did give me that thrill ofan action movie, though there's
