Alejandro Casares Tommasi pertenece a un linaje de artistas. Su tatarabuelo y bisabuelo, Francesco Tommasi y Pietro Tommasi Aliboni, fueron destacados escultores italianos. Él, por supuesto, se dedicó a la actuación y a lo largo de su carrera artística ha participado en telenovelas, obras de teatro y películas. En 1980, Alejandro se interesó en estudiar baile, canto y actuación en el Centro de Capacitación de Actores de Televisa (CEA). También se especializó en piano, solfeo, canto y música en el Conservatorio Nocturno de Música del INBA, para después obtener una licenciatura en Literatura en Arte Dramático y Teatro de la facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM.
