Welcome to Try Not To Crash, my journey into the aviation work as a 55 year novice pilot.

Join me, as I humorously recount my journey through the world of general aviation in the UK. From the whims of weather to the quirks of my trusty Cessna, flying isn't as straightforward as it might seem.

I'm not your go-to for aviation news or crash analyses, but I promise a genuine account of the highs and lows of my aviation adventures.

If you've ever wondered what it’s like to learn to fly through the eyes of a n older pilot, this podcast will be your backstage pass.

Whether you're curious about aviation or just enjoy a good chuckle, I invite you along for the ride. And remember, while my landings might not always be on point, the stories are sure to be entertaining. Buckle up, stay safe, and let's embark on this airborne escapade together!

If you want ot see me in the flesh so to speak, then https://www.youtube.com/@whiskeyalphapilot is the place to find me

I'm a UK based private pilot (PPL(A), who started to learn to fly in my 50s. I passed (just), but every flight is a learning experience.

I currently own 1/5 of a Cessna 172 - but I am not sure which bit is mine.

Speaker 0 (00:00):
Hello everyone, it's time for a bit of introduction.
It's Wayne here from the TryNot To Crash podcast, the only
place on the planet where youcan listen to a 55-year-old
novice pilot who hasn't a cluetrying to explain aerodynamic
theory.
Only joking.
I'm not a qualified flightinstructor and you should not be
using a podcast or any form ofsocial media to learn how to fly

(00:22):
.
That's the job of pilots andthat's why they have those big
headsets so they can listen totheir favourite podcaster.
Hopefully me All joking aside,I've decided to resurrect this
podcast, as it's fallen into thedoldrums, a little bit like my
flying.
The good news is I pulled myfinger out and, subject to
weather, I should be able to goflying and hopefully I'm going
to take you with me.
Why is this podcast called TryNot To Crash?

(00:45):
Well, that is the last thing myinstructor said to me on my
first solo flight, and it wasquite poignant and quite useful,
because fundamentally, that'swhat all pilots are trying to do
we try not to crash, ascrashing hurts, so I'm going to
try and avoid it.
Incidentally, you won't hear metalking about crashes or other
things that are going on in theaviation world, quite simply

(01:05):
because I don't have theexperience or the authority to
talk about such things.
I'll leave that for theso-called experts.
What you are going to hearabout is my experiences, firstly
as a student pilot and now as anovice pilot, learning to fly
and trying to navigate GA flyingaround the UK.
It is not as easy as it sounds.
My main efforts are into myYouTube channel.
You can find me on YouTube.

(01:26):
All you need to do is searchfor Whiskey Alpha Pilot and
hopefully, if everything works, you find me.
But equally, if you just wantto listen to my dulcet tones,
then the podcast is the way togo.
If you have any questions orcomments or things you'd like me
to do, then please just trackme down on social media and send
me a message.
If you're going to complainabout my landings not being on

(01:51):
the center line, then pleasedon't bother, as my poor little
Cessna is fed up being screamedat every time it doesn't want to
land on the center line.
I keep telling it to keepstraight, but you know what
aircraft are like anyway.
This is only supposed to be anintroduction, so I'll let you
get on.
But whatever you're doing, please be safe and have fun.
Thanks for listening.
Bye.
