Speaker 1 (00:00):
Motivational fitness coaching for beginners.
Are you stuck in the planningphase?
Consider these four things tomove from planning into action.
You're listening to Try To Fit,a motivational fitness podcast
helping beginners to get fitthrough the proper mindset,
planning and actions.

(00:20):
I'm your host, gladimir CoachGladsemian.
I'm an exercise physiologistand wellness coach with the
philosophy to keep fitnesspractical so that it's easy to
start and maintain.
We're here to build your faith, get inspired to get healthier
and overcome anything keepingyou from getting fit.
Are you ready to put in work?

(00:40):
Let's get started.
Welcome to Try To Fit, season 2, episode 5.
I'm your host, coach Glad.
I want to thank you so much forjoining me today.
Today, we're going to be talkingabout procrastination, more
specifically, procrastinationduring the planning phase.

(01:02):
I don't want you to get stuckin the planning phase.
Procrastination is a real thingand you think that you're
planning because you're takingtime and you're spending time
trying to craft the perfect plan, but all you're really doing is
procrastinating and you're nottaking any action towards your
goal.

(01:22):
I don't want you to get stuckthere.
So today I'm going to give youa four-set process to move from
planning into action.
I want you to consider thesefour things when you're starting
your planning stage, so thishappens before the planning
stage.
This is why I call it thepre-plan, and is a four-step

(01:47):
process to make sure that youmove from pre-plan to your plan,
into action, versus justjumping straight into action,
jumping straight into planningand never really taking any
action.
Sometimes the planning stagecan become overwhelming if
you're spending too much time init trying to craft the perfect

(02:08):
plan.
It can become a bitoverwhelming.
So when you're planning, you'renot going to be able to do
anything.
So trying to craft the perfectplan, it can become a bit
overwhelming.
So with this pre-plan, this isgoing to allow you to break the
planning process down intophases so that you can easily

(02:32):
move from one phase to the next.
The first part of this pre-planwe break it down into four steps
and the acronym is plan P-L-A-N, and the P portion is the path

(02:55):
you want to choose, how you'regoing to get to your goal you
talked about in strategyfiguring out your vision,
figuring out your goal, whereyou want to be, how do you want
to look, how do you want to feel.
But how are you going to getthere?
And I want you to decide onthat.
For example, if your goal is toget in shape.

(03:17):
How are you going to get inshape?
What are you going to choose?
What mode of exercise?
How are you going to get toyour goal?
You're just like taking avacation.
You know where you want to go,you know your destination, but
how are you going to get there?
Are you going to take the train?
Are you going to fly?
Are you going to drive?

(03:38):
Figure that part out.
That is the P portion, the pathportion.
Next is the L portion, and thisis a very important portion.
It is staying laser focused.
I want you to stay laserfocused and choose just one goal

(03:58):
.
If you're trying to get inshape, let's say your goal is to
decrease body fat, or you'retrying to lose weight, or you're
trying to whatever it is justchoose one goal.
You have a finite focus, timeand energy.

(04:18):
You have other responsibilities.
If you choose too many goals atonce, there is a possibility
you can get overwhelmed andyou're going to burn yourself
out and not continue.
You need all the the the energy, you need all the focus and you
need to concentrate your timeChasing just one goal and this

(04:43):
is going to help you to achievethat goal.
Once you get that goal.
Once you you master that, thenyou can commit to something else
.
But initially start with justone goal.
Next we have the a portion, andthis is a head.
Why do I call this ahead?

(05:04):
This is About three steps, nomore than three steps before you
take any action.
So this is the steps ahead ofaction, and you want to limit it
to just three, otherwisethere's a chance you can get
overwhelmed.
So let's use the example ofyour.

(05:28):
You want to get in shape andyou think joining a bootcamp is
the best way for you think it'sgoing to be fun and you can see
yourself being there and reallyenjoying it.
Before your first class, beforethat action step, there's at
least three steps that you needto take to make sure that you

(05:49):
get to your first class.
Number one it may be finding abootcamp in your area.
Number two, figuring out aschedule, a schedule, the class,
that that works best for you.
And then number three, callingor scheduling your first class.
Those three steps right therewill help you to Get from just a

(06:15):
planning stage into takingaction.
So I call that the a head stage, the third step in the process.
Then we have the fourth and Ithink, probably the most
important step is the end part,is the narrative.
What is a narrative?

(06:36):
This is the story that you'retelling yourself.
What story are you tellingyourself?
Why do you want to achieve thisgoal and who do you have to be
for you to accomplish this goal?
What is the narrative thatyou're telling yourself?

(06:57):
Are you going to quit once youstart?
Do you?
Do you want to be that person?
Why should you continue?
Is this goal important to you?
How important is the goal toyou?
What are you willing tosacrifice?
Are you passionate About yourgoal?

(07:18):
If you're passionate, howpassionate?
What's gonna make you feel mostfulfilled?
Is it?
Is it actually the goal thatyou're chasing or is it the
feeling?
So, if your goal is to loseweight, is it?
Is it their number on the scale, or is it the feeling of being

(07:38):
somebody that that pushedthrough adversity and got to a
goal?
You got healthier?
Is it a look?
Is it the boost in and status,or the praise that you're going
to get from People saying thatyou're someone that stuck with a
goal and pursued it?
Is it?
Is it all or nothing with you?

(07:59):
Is it?
Are you going to be fulfilledif you Only achieve 80% of your
goal, 90% of your goal, 99%.
These are things that you wantto think about it.
Do you consider those thingsfailure if you don't get a
hundred percent of your goal?
But let's say that you got 80%and but you became a better

(08:23):
person.
You inspired your, your, yourfamily, your friends to also get
in shape.
Do you Consider that a failureor is it a success?
Are you more fulfilled now thatyou were able to inspire others
to pursue their own goals, tochase their own dreams?

(08:44):
You, you really need to figureout the narrative.
What are you telling yourselfso that you have a really strong
why?
And you need a strong why?
Because when adversity comes, when difficulty comes, if you
don't have a strong enough, whyyou won't continue?

(09:05):
That's just a gist of it,because adversity reveals the
true narrative.
What do you are you tellingyourself?
It's going to reveal the truth, because if you stop and you
don't continue, then you were.
You were telling yourself anarrative you really didn't
believe.
You told yourself that this isyour goal, this is, this is the

(09:29):
time that you're going toactually do it.
You're gonna pursue it andyou're going to chase it until
you get it.
But you didn't.
Let's talk about.

(09:52):
This quote Is from the sciencedigest, 1949.
Don't procrastinate.
Putting off an unpleasant taskuntil tomorrow Simply gives you
more time for your imaginationto make a mountain out of a
possible molehill.

(10:13):
More time for anxiety to sapyour self-confidence.
Confidence do it now, brother.
Do it now.
That's a good word.
Right there, planning can looklight procrastination.

(10:33):
If you take too much timeplanning and You're not taking
enough time to just focus onstarting and Moving into action,
you Shouldn't spend too muchtime Planning.

(10:55):
You want to plan, you want tohave a plan.
But if you spend too much timeplanning, you're never Going to
take action.
Your plan is never going tobecome perfect.
It's never going to be perfectenough.
You need enough planning justto get started.
And let's say that you docreate the perfect plan, the

(11:21):
perfect plan.
Nobody has ever Created a planmore perfect in the plan that
you have.
You have this perfect plan andat the first sign of adversity
you quit.
Now, how important was that plan?
You spend all that timeplanning, but the the second

(11:44):
difficulty happened, the second, something got in the way.
You stopped.
So what?
What is more important?
Is it the actual plan or theactual person?
I Want you to avoidProcrastinating during the plan

(12:05):
and sage plan enough to getstarted.
I want you to be More confidentin yourself than in the plan.
Be more confident in yourability to make adjustments.
If something gets in your way, you'll figure out how to go
around it.
Be confident in your ability tofight when times get hard.

(12:28):
When Adversity comes, whendifficulty comes, you're gonna
stand there and you're gonnafight for what you believe in,
cuz I'll tell you the truth it'sup to you to make it happen.
It's not gonna happen any otherway.
If you stick to that four-stepPre-plan framework, where you

(12:51):
choose a path, you choose justone goal, you establish what you
need to get started and Thenyou figure out your why.
Why are you even starting?
If you do that four-stepprocess, you'll be able to move
from planning to actual action.

(13:12):
So Do something.
Do this simple exercise pullout a sheet of paper and write
your P down, your, your path.
What path are you gonna take toyour goal?
Write your L down.
What is your laser focus, whatis the one thing you're gonna
focus on?
Write your a down.
What are you?

(13:35):
What are the three steps you'regonna do ahead of the actual
step?
What are you gonna do to getyourself ready to take action.
And then the end part thinkabout your why, think about your
narrative.
You do those four things, you'll be able to make it happen

(13:55):
because, honestly, it's up toyou.
Only you can save yourself.
The Calvary is not coming tohelp.
You have to save yourself.

(14:20):
Speaking of saving yourself, oneof my favorite movies growing
up is Home Alone, the first one.
I really loved that movie.
It came out in 1990.
That was a little little kidwhen that movie came out.
It is.
For those that don't know it,macaulay Culkin played Kevin

(14:46):
McAllister in this movie.
The plot of the story is thatKevin McAllister defends his
house from a home invasion fromtwo robbers after his family
leaves him by accident.
Of course, when they go on afamily vacation, they forget him

(15:09):
and you like.
Well, how can that happen?
It's a very, very large familyand he got he.
They left them on their wayrushing to the airport and then
they're on the plane and theydidn't realize that they left
Kevin until they got to theirdestination.
But what I love most about thisstory is that Kevin McAllister

(15:32):
defeated two grown man, twothieves, and defended his home.
And the great thing about thismovie because it was in the
early 90s.
Every movie had a movie montagewhere the hero of the story
decides to take action.
They overcome their fear and dowhat is called crossing the

(15:57):
threshold.
They overcome their fear andthey step into their purpose.
So and it's usually thisthree-stage movie montage where
it has seen cuts where the thehero draws up a plan, they, they
gather their resources and theybegin to either take a defense

(16:18):
or they begin training to defeatthe villain and home alone,
kevin is a hero and he begins todraw a plan, he gathers his
resources and he starts buildingbooby traps all around his
house and these, these robbersfall into these booby traps and

(16:39):
he eventually beats them.
I love this movie.
And you may not, but and you'reprobably like well, what does
that have to do with what we'retalking about?
That's fiction.
That can, that can never happenin real life.

(16:59):
Well, you would be surprised onwhat you're able to accomplish
if you believed in yourself.
Don't limit yourself.
This world is already doing agood job of that.
If you believe in yourself andyou begin to take action, you

(17:25):
will be shocked at who youbecome.
Thank you so much for watching.
Trying to fit.
I'm your host, gladiator coachglad simian, I pray that you
were inspired to take actiontoday.

(17:47):
Don't think, don't forget,sorry, don't forget to follow me
on all of your favoriteplatforms.
Join me next episode, wherewe're actually going to be
discussing the planning phase orplanning your actions.
And if no one has told you yettoday, I love you.

(18:08):
God bless you and beunstoppable.
