Oh, I'm ready.
Nikita (00:42):
Welcome back,
Hey, guys, hey.
Welcome back to Two
Voices,
Lina (00:47):
one, Vibe
How are you?
I'm good.
Happy New Year, Nikita.
Happy New Year,
happy 2025.
Nikita (00:53):
Isn't that that wild?
Lina (00:59):
How is this possible?
Um, it's what comes after 2024.
I'm not really sure,
though, how it happened so
quickly.
Have you started writing 2025yet?
Has it tripped you up?
I have not had to write thedate yet.
Yeah, I have been
struggling with that, like in
text messages and in emails, butI haven't actually physically
written it with my hand yet
Nikita (01:12):
Like on a check or
something.
.
Lina (01:13):
So so that might screw me
up.
.
My cleaning ladies are comingnext week, though, so I'm going
to have to leave the check forthem.
Nikita (01:20):
Well, let's hope you
have to write the date before
then.
I'll have .
to predate it because they'recoming on Tuesday, but I won't
be here.
First, that's right.
Why won't we.
.
.
wait a minute.
.
.
We have so much to talk about!
Lina (01:28):
So much, so much, New so
Year's much!.
Nikita (01:29):
But let's start with a
recap, since this is our first
podcast of 2025.
It sure is.
(01:51):
it
First .
we're dropping this year.
Let's start with a recap ofyour New Year's because you had
plans.
Unlike some of us.
Lina (01:45):
So did.
I had New Year's recreationplans had come New Year's prior.
Um, it was .
fabulous!
Nikita (01:49):
Was it?
Lina (01:49):
It was, it was really
great.
So it started out with, I thinkI told you this, around three
o'clock in the morning Icouldn't sleep, so I started
ordering outfits off Amazon forNew Year's.
Yes.
So all my outfits came in
and you had come over and we
were trying on outfits.
Well," we weren't trying them?
on, you were trying them on andI was critiquing.
It, it was a joint effort.
Nikita (02:07):
Okay, I'll give you that
.
Lina (02:08):
Um, so I ended up settling
on an outfit that made me look
like I was on stage with Beyonce.
Nikita (02:13):
I thought you said
Britney Spears.
Lina (02:15):
It was a little bit of
Britney.
It was a little bit of Beyonce.
So, like Britney, becauseBritney and I have the same
birthday, so I always have myinner Britney, um, and Beyonce,
because it was like super shinyand mesh and fabulous.
Nikita (02:26):
Glittery.
Lina (02:26):
Yeah.
I wouldn't say shiny.
Yeah.
Well, it was like doused inrhinestones, so we'll have to
put up a picture, so that way, anybody who's not just
Nikita (02:34):
we
Lina (02:34):
Yeah.
We have pictures.
So anybody who's not just umtuning in to listen to us, but
who's actually watching thepodcast, can see my New Year's
outfit.
Oh, I'm so excited.
Not something that I think
I'd ever have worn before.
Nikita (02:46):
It's definitely out of
your comfort zone.
Lina (02:48):
Oh, for sure.
It's definitely giving me Li navibes "all night long.
"
Nikita (02:53):
Let's not, let's not get
copyrighted.
Lina (02:55):
That's my thing.
That's my thing, um, but yeah,so it was great.
So we, I met him at his house, like we did the last time, and
then we jumped in the car and wewent over to this bar.
Nikita (03:06):
Wait a minute..
Lina (03:07):
Yes?
Nikita (03:08):
You met him on a dating
app.
Right the first time you met himin person, you went to his
house?
Lina (03:14):
Oh no, no, we had gone out
a bunch of times before I met
him for New Year's.
Nikita (03:17):
Because I just totally
had a "Dateline moment
Lina (03:21):
We had gone out on
multiple dates before we spent
New Year's together, yeah, so wehad been seeing each other for
a while and then we had NewYears.
So he had asked me if I want tomeet him there or if I want to
meet him at his house and justtake one car.
So I said we'll just take onecar.
That makes more sense.
Plus, it's New Year's and youknow
I don't want to worry
about drinking and driving, and
he's much closer than I amanyway.
Nikita (03:37):
Okay.
Lina (03:37):
So we went in his house,
jumped in his car, went over to
the bar.
Had a couple drinks, which wasreally nice.
Got to meet everybody and Ithink I was mentioning to you
that he wasn't actually born inthis country.
Yes.
So they do this thing
where they celebrate when the
ball drops in the country thathe's from,
right,
so it's actually five
hours before our New Year's here
.
So by 7 o'clock we're alltoasting and cheersing with
(03:58):
everybody in the bar and there'sa ton of people from the same
country at this bar.
Um, so we're are allcelebrating the New Year
together with everybody that'sback home for them, so
everybody's kind of likeFacetiming their family back
home.
Oh, that's cute
They have a live feed to
bars in towns in their country
where they're
Nikita (04:12):
Aww
Lina (04:12):
And and so you get to see
everybody kind of celebrating
the New new Year year there.
fun.
So yeah, it was a lot of
fun.
Um,
Nikita (04:16):
Did he call anybody from
his home country?
He
Aww
Lina (04:19):
Yeah.
Nikita (04:20):
Did say"hi"
"happy Was
Was everybody like,
"who's that girl?
Lina (04:25):
I think they all know
about me.
Nikita (04:27):
Oh!
Lina (04:28):
I know!
Nikita (04:29):
That's kind of weird.
Lina (04:30):
That's what I said!
Okay
Yeah, so it was a lot of
fun.
So then afterwards we weregoing to a house party
Nikita (04:35):
Mm-hmm.
Lina (04:36):
So he tells me while we're
on the way to the house party,
"l he's going to be some peoplethere that were friends of mine
and my ex-wife, and his ex-wifehas since passed away.
So they were divorced and thenshe passed away.
Nikita (04:49):
Okay.
Lina (04:49):
So I'm like, "oh, okay,
that's cool.
I'm glad you just told me nowon the way to the party.
(05:10):
He was really cool about it, hewas like listen if at any point
you feel uncomfortable orawkward And they're like you
know, he's never brought anybodyto any of these parties before.
So I'm like, oh, that was niceand awkward.
It was a little awkward.
So it was nice that I was ableto, you know, have some drinks
and chit chat with other peoplewhile he was off doing his thing
, and it didn't feel weird atall, even though I'd never met
any of these people.
So a few hours into the night atsome point, he walks over to me
(05:32):
and he says to me I just wantto let you know, that's my
ex-wife.
Wait, isn't?
She passed?
That's what I said.
So I was like wait, I thoughtshe was dead.
Did you really say it just likethat?
I did, I said it just like that.
But he was walking away
and he didn't hear me.
And one of the other womenheard me and she comes over and
she's like no, no, I can assureyou his ex-wife is dead.
(05:53):
So I look at her and I'm likeare you sure?
And she's like I'm sure I wasat her funeral.
So I was like I was like well, god rest her soul.
I'm like, but didn't he justsay that's my ex-wife?
And he's like no, no, no, hesaid that's Mike's wife.
But because he has an accent,it sounded to me like that's my
ex-wife and I just kind of had amoment and I'm like this is
(06:14):
getting all sorts of awkward.
So he was trying to say that'sMike's wife, which was somebody
who he was just trying to puttwo and two together after
drinks and accenting.
I heard that's my ex-wife andI'm like this is really weird.
Um, so anyway, we had a reallygreat time, um, and at the end
of the night he was kind of likewant to go to Mexico
Nikita (06:35):
Mexico,
Lina (06:36):
Mexico.
Nikita (06:36):
That's a random question
at the end of a new year's eve.
Lina (06:40):
So it's not really so.
My nickname is the invite queen.
Yes, we've talked about this,
am invited, will travel.
Yes, and I got you luggage forChristmas, so now you don't need
to borrow.
Yes, and you see, I posted
that on my Instagram and I said
when you get luggage forChristmas and you don't have any
offers.
Nikita (06:53):
I saw that post.
Lina (06:54):
Yeah Well, he saw that
post too.
So he made an offer and he saidMexico, we're leaving Friday.
Wait, wait, you're leavingFriday.
Yes, as in four more
sleeps till Mexico.
But who's counting?
Yeah, so I get to christen mynew luggage that you gave me and
I get to go on vacation.
That's exciting.
Where in Mexico are you going,do you know?
(07:15):
Yeah, so we're going to
Riviera Maya
Nikita (07:16):
, okay,
Lina (07:16):
and we're going to spend
six nights there.
That's fun,
so I'm super excited it's
freezing here.
It actually snow snowed today,so I am ready for some sunshine
and sand and I don't want to sithere and act like it's been
forever.
I need a vacation because Iknow I was on like three weeks
of vacation
I wasn't gonna point that out
a month ago but I want to
go and you only live once and I
work hard and I have vacationtime and I actually have
(07:38):
vacation time that I rolled overfrom last year that I get to
use.
I have a surgery coming up, soI figured now would be a really
good time just to kind of likeenjoy myself, before I have
downtime and I won't be able totravel and I won't be able to do
stuff.
So I'm really looking forwardto it.
Nikita (07:50):
Okay, make sure your
locations are still shared,
which I know they are.
Lina (07:53):
They are, however, like
how fast are you going to come
find me when I'm in Quintana Roo, mexico?
Nikita (07:59):
Where there's a will,
there's a way, and I will make
sure he knows that I will shankhim.
Lina (08:03):
Okay, we're going to have
to work on your Espanol so you
can ask all the hombres whereyour amiga is.
Nikita (08:08):
I speak Spanglish.
Fluently Thanks to work.
Lina (08:11):
I speak Spanglish.
How about you?
Do you speak Spanglish?
I do too.
No, no, mi Espanol es muy bueno
Nikita (08:20):
.
Okay, that's enough of that.
Lina (08:22):
Mas autentico, Awesome.
Más auténtico.
No, sí I can, can you roll yourR's?
I can
Yeah, mm-hmm.
Okay,
not on demand.
Well, that's really, you
can't just.
Um, what was that?
Yeah, I can Arriba arriba,
yeah, no, no, okay, that'senough of that
Don't be jelly because
you're not going to Mexico
(08:43):
Friday.
You're going to Thailand.
Nikita (08:44):
I was just going to say
I ain't jealous of you going to
Mexico.
I'm going to Thailand.
Lina (08:48):
Don't be mad at me.
Yeah, I'm excited for yourThailand trip
Nikita (08:50):
I know I'm so excited.
Lina (08:52):
Can we talk about how
you're already packed?
Nikita (08:55):
We can talk about how
I'm already packed and my
boyfriend is already packed.
Well, for what it's worth, weare going to Thailand for 15
days.
So I mean, it's a.
It's a significant trip, yeah, and we went to Europe in the
summer, and when we went toEurope, we packed one big
(09:18):
suitcase that we shared.
He had his carry-on, I had mycarry-on, and dragging a big
suitcase through Europe is notfun.
So we said let's do this incarry-on and backpacks only, so
we both have a carry-on.
So we are literally packing fora 15-day trip in a carry-on and
(09:38):
a backpack only.
So
that's insanity.
Oh yeah, but that's how
we roll, yeah, so, but we're
gonna do, we're gonna do laundrywhile we're there.
It's super cheap to get yourlaundry done and they wash it,
they dry it, they fold it thewhole nine yards and they give
it back to you and it's allready to go.
So so we are both completelyclothing packed.
I think my boyfriend isactually completely toiletry
(10:00):
packed too.
That's nuts.
He's doing a little bit
better than I am in that
department, but I still have.
I need to use my toiletries.
I don't have extras, so I havesome of them packed and then,
right before I go, I'll pack allmy electronics and whatnot.
So, yeah, we're, we're packedand we're putting the finishing
(10:20):
touches on our trip and I can'tfreaking wait.
Lina (10:23):
I'm so excited, so excited
for you.
Yeah, so, before we get intoany Thailand stuff, why don't we
talk a little bit about yourEurope trip and what happened on
that trip?
Oh yeah, that's a good story.
That, yeah, not if you were youor your boyfriend, but for
everybody else it's a good story
Yeah, but you know what?
I think we're gonna save thatfor our next episode and we can
(10:45):
talk about my europe trip andother trip.
Shenanigans deal between bothof us okay, but I thought today,
you know, would be just a goodtime for kaya to walk in front
of the camera, mama thank you.
I thought today would be just aquick update for our listeners
and our viewers of your newyear's shenanigans and, uh, my
(11:08):
new year's shenanigans, whichwere very mild compared to yours
.
It was a riveting night in ourhousehold.
Um, my little one and I watchedwicked, which I zero out of ten
recommend, and I know that isnot the popular opinion.
I know people are all, oh mygod, wicked and I'm like, yes,
wicked.
(11:29):
And then I watched it.
I was like, no, wicked.
And even my little one.
She was like I just want tohear my songs.
And I'm like, well, what songsdo you want to hear?
And there's, there's two songsgoing around tiktok.
One is the alphaba glinda song.
Okay,
Nikita (11:44):
but that's not in the
movie and I didn't know that.
So when that song didn't comeon which was the one song she
was really looking forward todoing, it didn't come on in the
movie she's like mom.
Where's my song?
Lina (11:56):
so is this just like an
extra song that's on the
soundtrack,
I don't know if it's on thesoundtrack or if it's just like
a tiktok sound.
And then the other one.
I don't know the name of it,but it's some again popular song
on tiktok.
I'm very up on my music, as youcan tell, but that song was in
in the movie so she enjoyed that.
But did you know that thatmovie is two and a half hours?
(12:19):
two and a half hours.
Do you remember back in
the day when, like, titanic
first came out on vhs
Nikita (12:24):
Oh, two, two vhs tapes,
Lina (12:25):
two tapes.
You actually had to stop andtake it out and replace it with
the second one.
Do you know what's sad.
My kids don't know what a vhsrecorder or vhs tape is
have you you seen like
those TikToks and those reels
where people are going up tokids and they're like do you
know what a walkman is?
And they're like a man thatwalks, wait.
And they have these randomquestions, yeah.
Nikita (12:43):
So, okay, at my job
there oh, I love you there is a
girl I work with.
She's 22 years old.
I love her.
She's like my adopted daughterat work good kid, anyway, she's
22, so the majority of thepeople in the office are all 35
(13:03):
plus, and I mean there's olderpeople in the office too, but
the majority of us are all inthat 35 to like 45 50 age gap.
Okay,
so we have a couple of
girls.
There's the one girl that I wastalking about.
There's, there's a handful ofother kids who like kids like 18
, 19, 20, 21 kids, and we'll allbe talking about something and
(13:23):
they're like what are youtalking about?
And then we're like do you knowwhat an eight track is?
And they're like no, yeah, oneof us somebody said do you know
what a cassette tape is?
She was like no.
I was like, oh my god
Lina (13:36):
I asked a kid once if they
knew what a vhs was, and
they're like is it an std?
Like no, no, no, no, it's notand I don't want to talk to you
anymore.
Nikita (13:45):
Yeah, yeah, well, the
best is these kids and I'm not
just talking about like the kidsthat I work with, I'm talking
like my kids, who are 10 and 7.
My oldest wears an acdc shirtand she has no idea who acdc is.
Lina (13:56):
Your kids are actually 10
and 8, but that's okay, I'll let
that one slip.
Nikita (13:58):
10 and 8, yep, yeah but
my oldest wears an acdc shirt
and she has no clue who acdc is
Lina (14:04):
.
It just looks cool
Nikita (14:05):
exactly
Lina (14:05):
, yeah.
Well, that's just like.
You see those guys that wearthe different baseball caps from
different teams and I'm like,oh, you're a kansas city fan.
They're like, no, just match myfit.
I'm like the red flag, okay, yeah, that's like 18 red flags
yeah,
that's a whole nother podcastin and of itself too,
although I have learned to
walk away from the red flags
and not think it's a carnival, because I'd be like oh, red flag
, red flag, red flag.
(14:26):
I love carnivals
Nikita (14:27):
but did we really learn
that lesson yet?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we did.
Oh, I hope so.
Lina (14:31):
Yeah,
so it's not a red flag to go toMexicoxico
no, because I know him and
he's actually a really good guy
.
Okay, yeah, no, he really is.
I think it'd be a red flag if Iwas going to mexico with
somebody that I didn't know orsomebody that I had met online
and for the first time, we'remeeting in mexico, or something
yeah, that would be a massivered flag and I have to commit
you to yeah, the same asylum, or?
something.
I think that'd be
different.
But I mean, we've known eachother for years, you know.
(14:53):
We've been dating for monthsnow you know,
oh, is it official or
no?
No, it's not official.
Okay, we've been going on
seeing each other.
Yes, yes, having dinner
together and those types of
things.
Yes, we've been seeing eachother.
Yeah, it would be a red flag, like if I came back from mexico
married
Nikita (15:11):
, I'll kill you.
Lina (15:12):
Yeah, that would be a red
flag,
and then your mother will kill.
Yeah, that'd be a really
interesting episode of Dateline.
See, I brought that full circle.
Nikita (15:19):
Why don't you?
I can't wait for you andDateline.
Did you watch?
Text Me when You're Gone.
I didn't.
Text Me when you Get
Home.
Sorry, text Me when you Get Home.
Lina (15:29):
I put it on my list of
things that I need to watch
Nikita (15:31):
.
It's on Hulu, yeah, and thenwhat was the other show?
Lina (15:33):
I don't have Hulu, so next
time I stay at your house I
will watch it.
Yeah, well, I can give you myHulu sign in too
Perfect.
Nikita (15:39):
But what was the other
one?
Oh, the TikTok killer.
Oh yes, did you watch that one?
I did watch that one.
Was that not wild?
Lina (15:48):
Yeah, that was crazy.
Crazy People are nuts.
Yeah, I'm just saying I reallymean him.
He wasn't anything that special.
No, we should become TikTokfamous.
I think we can make reels.
Your stomach might becomeTikTok famous
.
That's Annabelle and she's partof my esophagus and she's here
to stay.
So she wanted to join us todayand she was like, hey
Nikita (16:04):
, because that's not
weird.
Lina (16:06):
Yeah, totally not weird at
all.
Okay, well, on that note, doyou have anything?
Do you want me to share
how my 2025 was off
Nikita (16:22):
?
I mean, it's been a doozy.
So if you're willing to share, please,
Lina (16:26):
totally willing to share.
So everybody says, like my yearstarted off with a bang, yours
literally started off with abang.
So Kaya, who makes her guestappearances quite often, my
Aussie doodle, baby, puppy girl, kaya bear.
So Kaya started heaving rightand I knew she was going to puke
and she runs downstairs by thefront door.
So I decide let me run down tothe front door and open it so
(16:47):
she can go outside and puke, soI don't have to clean up after
her.
So I run as fast as I can, totally miss the steps, fall
right down the stairs and I mean, I hit the ground so hard.
I checked the tile because Ithought it cracked.
My knee hit the tile so loud.
It was an audible crack
Nikita (17:07):
.
Did you break a kneecap oranything?
Lina (17:09):
It's possible.
I mean, when I've sent picturesof my knee to people, they're
like have you gone to a doctor?
Because that looks serious.
But I haven't.
So that happened.
But we're going to go to Mexico.
Yeah, we're going to go to
Mexico.
It's going to be fine.
I did tell the guy that I'mgoing to Mexico with like you
might want to be careful becauseyou might be getting a lot of
sideways looks from people thatmay think that you're beating me
like actively, because I'm nowcovered in bruises.
So I have bruises on my wrist,I have bruises on my knee, I had
(17:34):
a very sprained ankle that waslike a little bit of an egg
shape.
And then you know the sign thatyou're getting old the arch of
my right foot hurt.
How, why, I don't know.
I think that's just the sign ofgetting old, because the arch
of my foot hurt.
So all of that happened.
So that was really interesting.
So that was my soiree into 2025.
It kind of came in with a bang.
Nikita (17:54):
Yeah, mine was not that
exciting.
I have nothing to compare thatto
Lina (17:58):
Well, so we'll take a good
picture of my knee and we'll
post it in case anybody isinterested in what it looks like
.
So I was laughing because todayI was working from home and I
had run upstairs to use thebathroom and my work phone was
downstairs and it startedringing.
Nikita (18:11):
Haven't you learned that
you went in stairs?
Do not cooperate, so you shouldnot be running up or down them.
Lina (18:15):
That was the thing I went
to go run to go down the stairs
to grab my work phone and I hitthe very first step and I said,
nope, if I missed the call, Ican call whoever it is.
This is not happening.
I'm not doing it,
not when I leave for Mexico infour days.
Yeah, I was like I need to
be in one piece, so I think
that would be the only otherthing that I'd like to share to
our podcast.
Nikita (18:35):
Well, there you go, my
friends.
You heard it first.
Lina (18:40):
Some of us had great New
Year's and then interesting days
after New Year's.
Nikita (18:46):
Yeah, you know so we
hope you guys had a healthy and
happy New Year and we will seeyou in the next one.
Lina (18:54):
Yes, Everybody be safe, be
good and we will talk to you
soon.
Thanks for listening to us.
