Welcome back to the show.
I am your host, tiana.
Host Tiana, and on this episodeI want to share with you why I
think it is critical that youget out of the anticipation
(00:50):
phase and get into action takingNow.
If you've been following me forany amount of time or listened
to previous episodes of thispodcast, you know I am a fitness
professional with nearly 30years of experience.
I have met thousands of amazinghuman beings at all different
(01:10):
levels, all walks of life, various socioeconomic
backgrounds, various interests,different sports hobbies,
different family dynamics, andeveryone that crosses my path
has something in common they'relooking for transformation, they
are looking for change, theywant to go from point A to point
(01:34):
B, and they come to me becausethey are looking for the
linchpin or the connector or thebridge to find that solution
and to get to point B.
Now.
I'm a retired professionalbodybuilder.
I have spent many years of mylife choosing to suffer,
(01:57):
choosing to bring myself nearstarvation, choosing, at various
intervals of time, to do threeto five hours of exercise per
day, while also working afull-time job, a career,
managing a team of 40 people andbeing on call 24 seven,
including holidays and weekends.
So, yes, I understand whatstressful is and I also
(02:22):
understand that, when it comesto something that you truly want
for yourself, if it is burningon your heart, you will do
whatever it takes to make ithappen.
You will take that action.
You will do the things thatmost people will not do Because,
truly, what it boils down to isthis Champions do not have
(02:47):
balance.
Champions do not operate havinga balanced lifestyle or thinking
about life and maintainingbalance.
That is a narrative for peoplewho want to be just okay.
Having balance is for peoplewho just want to get by.
They're not looking to knock itout the park.
(03:08):
Maybe they're not looking to bemulti-millionaires or run
multiple businesses or bekilling it in a sport.
But for the people out therethat are, for the people out
there listening, that wantchange, maybe tapping into a
little bit of that championmindset for a short period of
(03:31):
time will help you catalyzechange and get unstuck and
unfuck yourself from theposition you're currently in so
that you can experience thegreatness of what lies on the
other side of the struggle.
That you are avoiding becauseall you're doing right now is
(03:52):
spending time in theanticipation phase.
You see, the challenge here isthat you're stepping into
unknown territory.
You're stepping into an arenathat maybe you've never been in.
You're putting yourself outthere showing your ass, being
vulnerable and potentiallyfailing at something.
And if you've had a smallamount of success, that's risky,
(04:17):
because now people are watching, because now you can't go
backwards, because now peopleare holding you accountable,
people are looking to you.
Each of us is leading in somesort of way.
We're either leading our kids,we're leading our spouse, we're
(04:40):
leading our friends, and thenthere are other times where
we're not in the lead.
We're following someone else'slead.
But it's important to recognizethat when it's your turn to and
it's your turn to go first andyou don't have a blueprint to
follow, or you don't have aroadmap or clues or any type of
(05:06):
experience in the thing you aresetting out to do, it's fucking
scary.
I was on a group call a few daysago.
I'm in a mentorship programwith an amazing coach and on
this team call, the way it'sformatted is we send in
questions the day prior and shereviews the questions and then
(05:30):
she answers each one live.
So the participants like myselfare really just watching and we
can turn on our cameras and seeother participants, but no one
else is really talking.
It's just the two my coach andthen the co-facilitator of the
program and they are answeringthe questions for us.
And what's really cool is, inthe call we just had a few days
(05:51):
ago, there was a question thatwas being addressed and it was
just talking about stimulus andmy coach said something that
really landed for me becauseit's my realm, it's my world.
But she said you know, I knownot everyone on this call works
out or lifts weights, but therecomes a point in time where you
(06:15):
can think about lifting theweight, you can visualize the
transformation, you can seeyourself in the physique or body
or shape that you're desiring, and you can use your mind to do
that.
However, at some point you needto actually go to the gym and
put the weights in your hand andexecute and you have to be
(06:38):
willing to feel that weight, tofeel that stimulus.
My listeners know I love thatword stimulus.
We've talked about it onseveral episodes.
So the champion and thatchampion mindset, they know
(06:58):
there's going to be unknownthings they're going to
encounter on their path.
There are going to be days thatthey don't want to get up at 5
am and go to the gym, that theydon't want to make another batch
of white fish with no oil andno seasoning and they don't want
to eat that stuff.
But those are the things thatchampions do when they've got
(07:23):
that laser beam focus, when theyhave their eye on show day,
when they know there is an endin sight.
And I'm not going to getdistracted on my way there.
Now, I know people are going tobe up in arms.
What do you mean?
I have kids, I haveresponsibilities, I have work.
I have to find balance.
(07:44):
Of course you do.
And also, if that's what youwant, then don't be upset about
the results you didn't get fromthe work that you didn't do.
And I know some people aregoing to be triggered by this
conversation, but you know what?
Sometimes you need to hear itbecause the facts are the facts.
(08:07):
And let me say this my mentor,my coach, she is the sweetest
being.
She makes me feel so safe.
She comforts me.
I love this woman so much.
I'm actually enrolled in twodifferent programs with her
simultaneously.
I signed up for one in themiddle of March and it was all
(08:32):
about healing your nervoussystem and feeling safe
manifestation system and feelingsafe manifestation and
expanding your wealth capacityso you can call in abundance.
And the other program, which Idecided to also join two days
(08:52):
later, is all strategy andcoaching me to build a digital
offer that is alsoheart-centered and aligns with
my belief system, is ethical andwill hit or land with the right
target audience so that I couldhelp hundreds, if not thousands
(09:14):
, of people all at the same time, as opposed to trying to do
one-on-one mentorship of peopleall at the same time as opposed
to trying to do one-on-onementorship.
And she just makes me feel sosafe.
She has these containers forthe two programs and everyone is
so lovely and gentle.
It's mostly female and wesupport each other, we cheer
each other on, we celebrate eachother's wins.
(09:37):
And she surprised me on thatcall the other day because she
said you know what, at somepoint you just got to get your
ass in the gym and feel theweights in your hand and execute
, and I firmly andwholeheartedly agree with that
(09:58):
statement.
Firmly and wholeheartedly agreewith that statement.
So how do you take action whenyou're stepping into unknown
territory?
You've heard me say it beforeFind someone who has done what
you are looking to do and eitherconsume all their content,
download their freebies, orretain their services and pay
(10:20):
them for their expertise.
We live in an age where we arenot in a lack of information.
You can search high and lowvideos or use AI to uncover the
answers to just about anything, but the difference is you have
(10:41):
to execute, and when you'relooking to complete a change or
transformation or do somethingreally hard or scary or totally
foreign to you, you just have torip the band off, bandaid off,
and do it and learn your lessonsas you go along.
(11:02):
Now, as a personal trainer, Iwork in an amazing facility.
I love my clientele and I lovewhat I do, and I will tell you,
one of the conversations that Ihave probably daily at this
point is not really convincing, but trying to work through the
(11:25):
conversation and navigate it ina way so that the person
standing in front of meunderstands, just like this
episode so far, that they justneed to get the weights in their
hands or feel the stimulus anddo it repeatedly and
consistently and be present andcommit to the process.
(11:49):
That does not give you a returnright away to catalyze the
change, to become stronger, tobuild muscle.
And it's a slippery slope for alot of people because in some
fitness establishments, groupclasses are marketed as strength
(12:09):
training because they have theword strength in the title or
because they do move at a slowerpace.
However, it's still not thesame thing as lifting out on the
fitness floor.
It's different when you do awhole workout using dumbbells or
(12:30):
some light kettlebells, asopposed to getting your ass out
on a platform and lifting someheavy shit with a barbell.
So what do you do?
How do you make that transitionto go from class queen to a
badass?
And don't get me wrong, something is better than nothing
(12:55):
.
So when you're looking at thevariables in your life, if you
only have a few windows of timeand you just want to work out
and then leave, maybe that suitsyou.
But if you're looking to stepinto that unknown realm, if
you're looking to make changesin your physique, if you're
(13:16):
looking to build bone densityyou know who you are listening.
Building that bone density isgoing to change your life.
If you're looking to do thosethings, you need to step into
that unknown territory and sureyou are a capable person.
(13:38):
I'm sure you could look thingsup, follow along and do it on
your own.
But how much time do you wantto commit to that process?
So you're either going toinvest in your time or you can
invest financially with anexpert, with a professional,
with someone who's going to getto know you, understand you and
(14:01):
give you just the right dosethat suits you, that fits into
your lifestyle and that helpsyou catalyze change.
Now, if you're looking tocompete in a sporting event or a
bodybuilding show of some sortor really make this crazy
transformation and it requires ahuge sacrifice then you
(14:26):
definitely need to hire somebodywho's walked the walk or is
currently walking the walk andcan help you through the process
so you can filter out the noiseand stay focused on what you
need to do.
So, just for reference, if we'retalking about a bodybuilding
show, let me break this down foryou, okay.
So not only do you have tocommit to the cardio and the
(14:51):
weight training, have to committo the cardio and the weight
training.
You're also eating every singlemeal at home, with the few
exceptions.
You're cooking all your food.
That takes time.
You're probably shopping forall your food, unless you have
food delivery service, whichsome people do and that's great.
(15:13):
Then there's the posing andthen there's the actual show
itself.
So there's an investment there.
So you're thinking, maybe sometravel.
You might need a hotel room.
You have to pay for a suit andtanning posing sessions.
The ladies also need to gettheir nails done, have their
(15:33):
hair and makeup doneprofessionally, jewelry shoes
when I was at my peak, competing15 years ago, it was easily a
$3,000 to $5,000 experience.
If it required airfare and ahotel stay because I was
traveling far, then the numberwas even higher.
(15:55):
But the biggest sacrifices ofall is the amount of time Three
to five hours per day leading upto show day on top of regular
life.
Champions don't have balance.
Champions do what they need todo to fucking win.
(16:18):
Now, if you could have just alittle bit of that, a little bit
of that attitude, that spice, and apply it to the thing that
you want to do, I guarantee youyou will accelerate the process,
you will shuttle yourselfforward, because you're either
(16:40):
going to move forward in themoment or you're going to learn
something and then, in learningsomething, that will help you
accelerate forward the next time.
So I've put together a free miniPDF guide that you can download
.
It's called Lift Like you Meanit, and this is a five minute
(17:00):
pre-workout ritual for you sothat you can set your intentions
, you can choose the exercisesyou plan to do, and walk into
the gym with clarity, intentionand purpose and take deliberate
action.
I am seeing way too many peoplecome into the gym and they
(17:21):
don't know what they're doing.
They're spending too much timeon things that don't matter and
not enough time on the thingsthat do.
So I've put together this cutelittle freebie for you.
The link is in the show notesfor you to download, and then
you'll be added to my emailnewsletter and get notifications
.
I do have a very special eventcoming up in the next coming
(17:45):
weeks, so you'll be the first toknow about that, and something
really special that I've beenworking on behind the scenes
will be launching at the end ofthis summer.
So if you're interested and youwant to hear more about it,
check the show notes.
Download Lift Like you Mean it.
This has been a little labor oflove and something that I've
(18:07):
been working on, and my coach, who I've been talking about on
this episode, is the one who'sreally helped me get clear and
put it together, so I'm gratefulto her for all of that.
But again, it's time for you totake control, it's time for you
to get out of the anticipationphase and it is time to take
(18:29):
some fucking action.
Champions do not do what normalpeople do, and I want you to
take a little nibble, or a bigbite, of that champion mindset
so that you can accelerate yourprogress and stop thinking and
imagining and hypothesizing ofwhat life could be like and
(18:52):
start actually doing it andstepping into the person that
you are meant to be.
Again, check the show notes ifyou want to download Live Like
you Mean it.
I appreciate you being here andI will see you on the next one.
