UW Oshkosh Acting Chief of Police, Chris Tarmann, and Dr. Joseph Peterson, a Geology Professor at UW Oshkosh discuss data, information sharing, and ideas behind how to proactively maintain a healthy community. These strategies give community members confidence in understanding what observations might be important, who to share observations with, and what happens to the information once it is shared.

This episode is part I of a two part series. In part II Dr. Peterson and Acting Chief Tarmann will discuss best practices on how to act if you ever found yourself in an Active Threat situation.

Disclaimer - this episode was developed based on the training and experiences of Acting Chief Chris Tarmann, and Dr. Joseph Peterson who is the survivor of a mass casualty incident at Northern Illinois University in 2008. Our presentation is geared toward a college campus even though many of the concepts can also work in a traditional community. We discuss data around active threat situations and details around situations that have occurred in the US. The conversation can be triggering to some community members.
