Send us a text message! Tell us what you think!

Step into our first-ever international podcast as we broadcast live from Japan! Duke takes us on a vivid journey through his first week exploring the Land of the Rising Sun, sharing authentic experiences that go far beyond typical tourist tales.

From navigating the organized chaos of Japanese customs (complete with an unfortunate child getting sick in the queue) to the sublime experience of genuine Kobe beef that cost a jaw-dropping $600 for four people, Duke's observations capture both the expected and unexpected sides of Japanese travel. His adventures through Hiroshima's sobering peace memorial, the ancient stone foundations of Himeji Castle with its impossibly narrow stairs, and the surprising spectrum of flavors in Japanese Mountain Dew paint a multidimensional portrait of this fascinating country.

Cultural insights abound as Duke describes being a head taller than most locals, the extreme politeness that makes confrontation nearly impossible ("You don't have beef with people in Japan because they're too nice"), and the delightful discovery of themed bars tucked away in urban corners. His practical tips on understanding the Shinkansen ticket system, selecting convenience store meals, and planning efficient sightseeing routes provide valuable information for future travelers.

As Duke prepares to meet up with Jack and Lew for Star Wars Celebration Japan in just a few days, the anticipation builds for even more adventures. Whether you're planning your own Japanese journey or simply enjoying vicarious travel, this episode delivers both entertainment and practical insights into one of the world's most fascinating destinations. Join us again soon as our Japan saga continues with Star Wars Celebration coverage and more cultural explorations!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wait, hang on, I can't.
I only have one hand, soKonnichiwa oh wait, Konnichiwa
Oha gozaimasu Si.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
So we are filming this internationally.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Yeah, I think this is our first remote broadcast,
right, mm-hmm.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, that would be smart.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
You'll notice Duke's background is different because
he is in tomorrow, it's Mondaywhere he's at Monday morning.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
I couldn't figure out how to get this little shade up
, or else I would show youwhat's behind me.
Jack dropped his ice cream.
No, no, just a spoon.
This guy man.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I'm getting prepared to watch Last of Us, season 2,
so I'm gonna get a knife to eatwith just a quick side note.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Japanese Mountain Dew , so we're gonna try that during
the pod.
Have you tried it yet?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
nope, this will be the first time.
I wonder if the caffeinequotient is the same.
I heard it pop.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
You know what the nice thing is?
I can't read any of it, so noneof it's bad for me.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
That's how I understand the rules.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
If you can't read it, it's not bad for you, so it's
good.
Pop a like I approve.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Is there a difference ?
Yeah, there's there adifference.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, pepsi difference.
There's definitely a difference.
There's hardly any aftertasteat all.
The flavors are.
It's actually really likeAmerican Mountain Dew is like
kind of like there's one tasteand that's all you get.
The whole time this feels likethere's it's different.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
It's different flavors, a spectrum of flavor.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yes, so I approve.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I'm on board Good job You're going to have to do your
your Papa go app and translateit and be like this just has
water and sugar in it.
Crazy yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Where's the?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
polycarbohydrate yellow number five.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, Yellow number five.
I think that's a lot of it.
Not all that stuff is out of it.
Nope, I approve.
We are in Kobe right now.
I am international today.
Are you getting beef?
That was two days ago.
It was very, very expensive butalso totally worth it.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Who'd beef, who'd you fight with?
Dude had beef two days ago.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
You're supposed to wait for us.
Here's the thing you don't havebeef with people in Japan.
You don't have beef with peoplein Japan because they're too
nice.
Go on.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
What happened to Lou was going to be the one getting
in a fight.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
You know what, lou?
I've been here almost a weekand I'll say it will take you a
lot to get into a fight withsomeone.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Probably, Because if they bump into somebody or throw
a plastic bottle they'llprobably be all apologetic and
just bowing down the whole timeIt'll be their fault that you
threw a water bottle at them.
Yep, it would be, and I'mreally like, alright, I can't
fight with that person.
They're so polite about it, ohmy god.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
No, I mean I've been here since last Wednesday.
So, we're creeping up on a week.
Right now.
It'll be a couple days before Isee you mugs in person.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So, yeah, three more, three more days.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah.
So Go ahead so, yeah, threemore, three more days, yeah, uh.
So it's okay to me, it's aright guy, go ahead the.
The trick that I found, atleast for me, was just staying
up for the most part.
Um.
I dozed on the first plane, stayed awake for the most part
on the second plane, um, I'mglad it was only two planes.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
If you're up for 11 hours you didn't watch anything.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
No, I watched Rogue One and I watched V-Hulk.
So on the second flight, when Igot on the plane, it was one in
the afternoon, hawaiian time, because I flew from Portland to
Honolulu and then had a two-hourlayover, and then from Honolulu
and then had a two-hour layover, and then from Honolulu to
Tokyo, to Haneda.
When I first got on the plane, the twins were playing, so I

(04:14):
watched baseball.
It was nice because I was ableto doze and not really feel like
I was missing out on a bunch ofstuff.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
And the twins at that , so it's like the twins were
there, baseball was playedalthough did you see what
happened to the Dodgers?
They got stomped dude says theguy who's a Dodgers fan and lost
16-0 at home it was for likethe first time in franchise
history or some shit well, itwas the record.

(04:44):
They've been shut out at homebefore.
That was the largest shutoutloss Anyhow.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
So yeah.
So then, after the game wasover, I was like, well, I still
have six hours to kill orwhatever.
So I ended up watching RogueOne.
And then after that I was like, well, I mean, we're here, Might
as well watch A New Hope.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Definitely support that.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
That got me until about 15 minutes before we
landed, so I figured it wasperfect timing.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
How was customs?
Did you have your QR code?

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Oh my God, Just breeze through.
I mean no.
Well, I think part of theproblem was that I showed up at

(05:34):
rush hour and, according to myfriend Travis, who lives here,
he said something like 15 or 20flights all landed at the same
time, that we're allinternational, and so it took me
probably an hour, hour and ahalf to get through customs, and
95% of that was just in thecattle call line.
Once I actually got to thefront of the line, it was maybe
20 minutes.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
The QR code helped out a lot.
Was somebody stealing my bagand shit?

Speaker 1 (05:51):
No, I mean it was crazy.
They have like a half a dozen.
Are you guys flying into Heneda?
No we fly out of Heneda, we flyinto Narita.
Yeah, okay, I'm guessing they'reprobably going to be kind of
similar.
So when you get to the front, you're going to go through like
this queue where this guy isgoing to point you into a

(06:11):
direction.
Once you get through, you'regoing to walk up, give the guy
your passport, do your indexfingers on the screen have it,
take a picture of you whichlooks amazing after you've been
on the plane for 19 hours.
Yeah, exactly, yeah, you wantmy index fingers.
Here you go, there you go.

(06:33):
So then after that, then youget your bag, then you go
through the process again, butthis time you're just to get a
kiosk and then they check yourQR code and password.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Oh, hold on, Hold on again.
You got back up, you get tothat first group, then you get
your bag.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Yeah, so you go through the first you go through
the first time and actuallyinteract with a live person and
they check you out and make sureyou know, stamp your card or
stamp your passport the wholenine yards.
Make sure you're not, and thenyou go and get your bag and then
, once you get your bag, thenyou go to a kiosk.
It's like a final checkout andI'm not too sure why it's like

(07:10):
that, why you don't just getyour bag and do it once, but
it's just a way that they haveit set up.
So then once you go through thekiosk, you basically go through
a set of plastic gates.
They'll put you in a line andthen you go through a set of
plastic double like plasticgates.
You know they'll put you in aline and then you go through and
then you're out.
So the queue sucked.

(07:31):
There was a kid right in frontof me fucking kids.
Dude, I don't know how you doit, jack were they coughing?
all over you.
Is that what you got to say?
No, no, he straight threw up,straight threw up.
We're halfway through.
We're halfway through the queue.
We're halfway through the queue, we're in the middle of the
fucking dead zone where there'sno staff, there's nothing.

(07:52):
And all of a sudden I see thekid's head jerk and I'm like
okay, either he's going to throwup or this is where fucking 28
days later begins.
And he just goes and I'm justlike God damn, I really hope
there's no reactionary.
And I'm just like God damn, Ireally hope there's no
reactionary.
All that popped into my headwas fucking Stan.
All that popped into my headwas Stan by me, and I was just
like God damn it, it's just aline.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
What.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah, and then he did it again like 20 minutes later
and the kid was so embarrassedand the parents, because
everybody in line knew who itwas Because then they were like
who threw up?
And they were like who threw up?
And they were like it was himand I'm like boy that he is, he
is gonna have to go to therapynow because that yep, that kid
got scarred just for being sick, like being in line, well, and
what's.
And what was weird was theywere pulling like families out

(08:37):
of line to go put them throughlike a family line, so that way.
Because so just be aware ofthat, jack, if there's like I
think there's I don't rememberwhat it was titled, but it was
like family something, so thatway, because so just be aware of
that jack, if there's like Ithink there's, I don't remember
what it was titled, but it waslike family something.
So the way things are phrasedhere is sometimes it's really
weird and doesn't make a lot ofsense.
But if, if you see somethingthat says like families or

(08:58):
something like that, there'll belike a medical emergency.
So if you're in a wheelchair oryou have some some reason that
you can't be in the queue, forsome reason they have a line for
that.
And then they have a line forfamilies.
So at least for Jack, take alook.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Oh, that's cool yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, yeah, fuck you, fuck you Lou.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
This is our man.
He has to come with us.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Our tickets are all bought together, so I'll follow
you there, there you go thereyou go.
Brother.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Right, I'm uncle, uncle Lou.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Hold on, y'all keep going.
I got to.
I got to check something realquick because I'll show, if it
works out, what, what I, whatI'm about to go to my door and
get.
I'll be showing to everybodyelse later on, cause I am
bringing it to the trip.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Let me go handle this real quick while you guys keep
talking about Ooh surprises, oh,he's muted his camera and
taking his headphones out andeverything.
You kind of muted yourself, bro, shit, so yeah.
So then Travis was waiting.
So Travis is, he works with Ben.
Ben and Jen are the couple thatI came with to Japan and Travis
works with Ben, who, uh, benand Jen are the couple that I
came with to uh, to Japan and,uh, travis works with Ben.

(10:06):
And so Travis was waiting forme at the uh, at the gate, so
met up with him, went in, uh, heshowed me his, uh, his little
neighborhood.
We went to his, his apartment.
Um, he said oh.
He said, oh, I got you a futon.
I was like, oh, okay, cool.
We walk into his room and I'mlike where's the futon?

(10:28):
He's like it's in the closet.
I'm like, how'd you fit a futonin the closet?
Turns out, in Japanese, futonmeans dog bed.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Did you go around in circles before you laid?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
down.
Yeah, I did, I did.
I patted all around, I sniffedhis to make sure that I didn't
need to mark my territory, but Imean it was surprisingly
comfortable, I mean.
But again, it might have beenbecause I was up for almost 24
hours.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Yeah, at that point a dog bed, don't matter.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yep, yeah, so, yeah.
So we went and got some food,so we went to a place near his
house that had Wagyu beef and abunch of stuff, and so we did a
thing called courses, which isyou basically pay like a set
amount and they bring out it'suh, it basically is like a

(11:23):
korean, the korean barbecue, sothey have like the grill in
front of you, uh, and theybrought out all the raw, the
different raw meats and stufflike that.
So uh turns out beef tongue'snot terrible.
I I had no idea.
So trying to leave myself opento uh trying things I haven't
tried before, Just askafterwards.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
What was it Cock?
Yeah, sir, I've had cock beforethat was different.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I'm in Colorado.
I've even had walls before.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
They actually bring out awful at the end, which is
pretty crazy.
It'll be liver and stomach andstuff like that that are not
part of the normal actuallythat's kind of funny.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
You say that because, um, I I was working on the, um
the ai episode for next week, right.
So one of the times when dukeis, where we asked duke about
the food, he said I've had sushi, ramen, some kind of mystery
street skewer that was probablyoctopus, and I have zero regrets
.
Tin, tin, what's you again?

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I'm not saying the street food's what fucked me up.
I think it was more the 17flights of stairs and almost
40,000 steps in two days Hellyeah, so you don't even need
your diabetes medicine.
Not even a little bit, not evena little bit.
So.
So then we went to oh sorry, goahead Luke.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
No, no, no, no.
I was going to make a joke.
I was like met foreman, go tohell Cause that's what I have,
and Cause that's what I'm notbringing it.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
I, you know, yesterday I'll get to it, but I
didn't need it.
I didn't take it yesterdaybecause I was basically in bed
all day and didn't eat anything.
So I'm like you know what I'm.
Just I don't want to deal withthe fallout of restarting it
again, cause my understanding is, every time you restart it it's
two or three days in.
All of a sudden you got bubblegut like big time and I'm like
you know I will deal with thatwhen I get home.

(13:24):
I don't want to be a hundredpercent.
I don't want to be atcelebration and all of a sudden
be like oh, oh, oh, sorry, guys,I'll see you.
Sorry, sorry, oscar, sorry, oscar Isaac, oh, sorry, you're
not the one person a panel atCelebration is not.
The one actor who had a panelat Celebration is not even going

(13:45):
to be there the Boba Fetts aredoing a panel.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
You can go to their panel.
One of them is an actor.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Tamora and Daniel.
One of them is still an actor.
I'm just trying to picture Dukeat that.
And that happens.
Some issue happens in a panel, and then they do the news.
So how was the panel?
It was very shitty panel.
And then they do the news sohow was the panel?
It was very shitty, so then uh,travis wait, backing up, you
just think it's more of it.

(14:12):
It wasn't like cold or flu, itwas exhaustion, like that type
of stuff I, I, I don't know dudeor the exhaustion we can this
immune system to get the cootiesI mean

Speaker 1 (14:22):
well well, so then.
So just to rewind a bit.
So then Travis took me to hislocal cowgirl bar.
So themed bars are a huge, huge, huge thing here.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Is it Kaya?

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Or just a bar.
So yeah, well, no, this was acowboy themed bar so where he
goes all the time.
He knows all of the girls whowork there and everything, so so
we went and hung out for a bitand I got to meet the the people
that he hangs out with and hastalked about in the past and
stuff like that, and of courseyou know somebody new.
So they're all doting and allof that kind of stuff, because

(14:59):
that's what they do, right yeah, somebody new comes in and also
with being with travis.
Being with Travis, you're inwith somebody who likes to come
in and spend money.
No, don't give him the credit.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
It's the beard, Dean.
Come on.
Ain't nobody in Japan rocking abeard like that?

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Nobody in Japan has that beard, unless you're like
some sensei at a kung fu orkarate.
That's a good point.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yeah, at the end of it, Monday after celebration,
I'll be able to do that.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Yeah, now you're talking.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
And then that was that.
So that was Wednesday.
Thursday we got up early, gotbreakfast, popped on the
Shinkansen and rode out toBullet train people, bullet
train, if you didn't know on theShinkansen and rode out to.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Bullet train people.
Bullet train if you didn't knowwhat a Shinkansen is.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Yeah, so which was actually it was interesting?
It was definitely fast, was ita?

Speaker 2 (15:57):
pretty easy process to get to the Shinkansen and
board and all that prettystraightforward.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah, I mean, the nice thing is that a lot of the
stations, especially in the bigcities, like everything goes
through them, so you can go toone station and get on the
Shinkansen, or you can get on alocal line, or you can get on a
bus, like there's.
It's not like you have to goover here to get in the
Greyhound bus, you have to goover here to get on this, you

(16:24):
have to go over here to get onthis uh, you know, subway and
you have to go over.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
You know like they're different.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
It's all in one central locations are the thing.
Yeah, so the stations areshibura station.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
All the different stations yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
So all the big, all the larger stations are um there
.
There are multiple uh ways totravel.
It's not like the shinkansenline is its own thing gotcha,
gotcha, it'll show up at aregular train station.
Yeah, there's giant signs allover the place that direct you
to where you need to go, so ifyou were by yourself, without
Travis, do you think you couldhave made it on your own?

Speaker 2 (16:56):
OK?
Eventually, I think All right, because you're smart and can
read.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yeah, yeah, Well, well.
So getting the IC card waspretty straightforward, but
getting the One thing I will sayis unless you have the JL card.
So the JL card, so theShinkansen has green seats which

(17:25):
are like the first class seats.
Well, so you can get like ajail wine card which will put
you on any, which will allow youto get on multiple different
trains, but you won't ever getreserve seating.
It'll be whatever is available,right.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
Right.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Or you can buy a reserve seat or there's like
it's almost like a businessclass, um, where you get like
kind of your own train andaccording to travis it's like
two stories, so a lot of themare just one one story, but you
get more room, there's less, there's less seats, that type of
thing.
So, like I said, it's more I.
I was, I think of it more oflike a business class OK.

(18:03):
So when we went through and gotour, got our tickets, we
accidentally skipped the partthat said like, when we were
clicking through, we clickedjust the reserve seat.
So then when we tried to gothrough the line, it aired out
because we needed to buy theticket for the Shinkansen as

(18:24):
well.
So you have to get like ageneral ticket and then, on top
of that, get your reserve seat.
So so just something to keep inmind when you're going through
the line.
The next time we went throughit and bought one, it was way
more obvious, but the first timethrough we were kind of it was
like, oh, and then we're tryingto go through and it keeps
airing out.
And then finally we went andtalked to somebody and they went

(18:46):
, oh, go back and get, you haveto get the pass to get through
the gate, basically.
So just something to keep inmind that you want to buy the
pass and the seat.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah, that's what it was when I did mine for after
World's Fair, after Expo, thatwas mine.
I went online and it was thepackage together from Osaka to
Tokyo, to Shinkansen, back, andit was like, okay, I get it.
Now I got to get this and I didthe reserve seat as well.
I didn't do the green card.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
I don't know that Shinkansen is on our green card.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
It was part of the reason, like the whole expo,
because obviously, right fouryears ago, when I thought about
going three years ago uh, thatwas on my list to do the world's
fair, and I was like, ah,timing it's, it's down south.
I'm like, well, screw it, takethe night bus down there, take
the bullet train back, and I cancover all that.
I get to try a night bus, I getto try world's fair and I get
to try try Bullet Train.
So not too late.

(19:43):
Actually, what you could do,though, jack, is because I might
do this and we can talk aboutthis all later.
But I may take a Bullet Trainagain up north, because the
cherry blossoms have basicallyalready hit bloom and they're
probably petals falling off orgoing back to green now, but up
north Japan, they're stillstarting and blooming out there,

(20:04):
so maybe on Tuesday, japan, they're still starting and
blooming out there, so maybe onTuesday, wednesday, something
like that, wednesday maybe, unless Duke wants to go take the
bullet train up north a littlebit just to see the cherry
blossoms.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
If we do go up north, that is where Cat Island is.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Just saying, just saying Something to think about.
And you get your bullet trainfixed.
That's true.
It doesn't have to be downosaka, we can just go up to
hokkaido area.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
So thoughts we'll say to think about yeah we'll
submit it to the committee weyeah, we'll talk.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
We'll talk about it while we're waiting in line at
celebration right, exactly no.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
While you're waiting in line at customs, oh, dude,
for real.
Oh, my god but I mean, but I'vealso heard the customs is real
quick to get through if you comein at an off time.
A lot of people.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
It's 50-50 based on the people on the celebration.
They're like yeah, no, I was inand out in 20 minutes, bro,
I've been here for two hours.
It fucking sucks.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Exactly, I was in two and a half hours, dude 20
minutes.
What are you talking about?
What time?
20 minutes?
What are you talking about?
So that timing?
What time did you land again?
Um, because ours is 5, 30, 2,40 in the afternoon.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
So you, should you, I .
I think you'll be a little bitbetter because you're a little.
I was like right in the heartof your heart.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Rush hour everybody coming.
That's the other thing, dude.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
That that's the other thing, dude.
So many fucking people, so manyfucking people, like all over
all the time, just crazy, crazyamounts of people just all
running around it's.
It's.
It's like a bunch, it's likewatching ants, it's.
And it is because I'm tallerthan everybody, so you know yeah
, I was gonna ask you about that.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
You know, I lived there back in, you know, 83 to
86, but I was 10 yeah, so I'mshort back then yeah, so I don't
remember a lot, I remember alot, I remember a lot of it.
I just remember like that typeof connection.
So is it really?
Are you really a giant amongstthe people?
Yeah, yeah, I mean no joke, allright, All right yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Head taller than most of them, like most people here.
So it's really easy to findTravis.
I mean Ben's short and it wasreal easy to find Ben in a lot
of places.
So you hear that Travis.
I just slammed Ben on thepodcast.
What?

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Did you guys?
All get there around the sametime I mean obviously Travis
lives there, but did they getthere?

Speaker 1 (22:19):
So Ben and Jen actually came the weekend before
because they went to the F1race.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
So there was an F1 race up north west, and so they
came on Friday and did the F1race and then went and did what
Travis and I are going to go donow.
So then we met.
So just to go back real quickto the trip, so then Travis and
I took the Shinkansen and metBen and Jen in Hiroshima,

(22:49):
hiroshima.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Hiroshima.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Hiroshima.
There we go, and that waspretty sobering.
They have a really nice well Idon't want to say nice, but well
set up museum.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
No, you're good, You're good.
Okay, I'm just throwingsomething on the Discord.
It's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
I was going to say they have a really nice park and
everything, so the whole areawas nice, nice, but that's kind
of like like I was making thecomment.
I made the comment during whilewe were there, I go, it's
really weird how this place haslike hundreds and hundreds of
years of history.
Right, I mean the the city hasbeen there since right, you know
, yeah, yeah, the city has beenthere since since the 1500s, if

(23:40):
not earlier, right, depending onwhere you're at, but yet
everybody remembers it for thisone particular event, right?

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Rightfully so.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, and everything that they have is all dedicated
to that one event.
So it's kind of weird where yougo to a town and you go and
like you expect to see thehistory, but all the history is
wrapped around this one momentin time.
So that was kind of like I said, it was sobering right, like
you go there and you justrealize how fucked up that whole
event was and how all theevents that got us to that point

(24:16):
and it actually really didn'teven need to happen know, we
could, uh, sure, myunderstanding is that basically,
japan was, at that point, wasalready ready to surrender or
was ready to to, you know, havepeace talks and america was kind
of like well, fuck you anywayslike good, ready to uh, now

(24:37):
ready, ready to surrenderunconditional surrender, and
japan wasn't ready tounconditionally surrender.

Speaker 5 (24:43):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
There you go, do it right.
And 100% Lou's on board withyou.
You should have surrendered.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
This is how it is.
No, okay, let's do this.
Matter of fact, we're going todo it a second time.

Speaker 3 (25:02):
In case you missed the first time.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
In case you didn't hear me Lose like one empty
water bottle didn't bug you,it's fine.
I got a second one.
How pissed off are you now?

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Exactly All you had to say okay, we concede, you
know mercy.
Nope, nope, you want to playthese games.
Fine, exactly.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
So, but I Exactly, it was all really interesting, but
it's all wrapped around thisone event and everything.
The fact that they didn'tunderstand what radiation and
stuff was to me is one of those.
It's hard to wrap your headaround today.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
It's always been around, since we were kids.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
It's something that, by the time we by the time we
were in school and everythingeverybody understood, right, but
back then they didn't.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
They were like, oh yeah we were all born 15 years,
20 years later so yeah yeah, Imean after the 60s that travis
was talking about.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
So so, uh, that being said, the day that we had in,
uh, the, the day we had there, the weather was super nice, it
was you, you know, it wasn'tsuper busy, so, like, we were
able to wander around and kindof get through everything and
not not feel like we were rushedor that we were missing
anything, and so we stayed.
We stayed there two nights.

(26:18):
Then the second night, we, we,we picked up stakes and we, uh,
moved on and saw our next stopwas imagine where they have the
one castle in the entire countrythat has not been fully rebuilt
.
Wow, every other castle, everyother castle in japan has been

(26:39):
fully rebuilt in the last.
Yeah, like has been completelyfully rebuilt.
But you go into himeji castleand like, there's parts that are
still like og, from the veryfirst part of the castle, right,
um, so, so, yeah, withhiroshima we did 20 000 steps
and I was like, I was like, uh,no, no, I don't like that.

(27:02):
And then we went to himejicastle, where they're like, oh,
just do this tour and it's anhour and a half, and it ended up
taking.
Hour and a half was just forthe one part of the tour.
The whole tour itself wassomething like four hours and
somebody in our group didn'tunderstand that and was like
it's fine, because we were onlyplanning on being there for a
couple hours and yeah.

(27:25):
So then went all the way upseven floors, seven flights of
tiny, tiny stairs, multiple.
Watch your head signs as you'regetting higher and higher.
The back of my calves goingdown the stairs, the back of my
calves were black and blue fromhitting every single step on the

(27:47):
way down, because the stairsare I mean, the stairs are
literally maybe eight incheswide.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
There's space for people who are like 12 feet tall
.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Yeah, yeah, so that was pretty interesting just
because that one there was a lotof people.
So that was pretty interestingJust because there was a lot of
people.
It was actually kind of bizarreBecause there were periods of
time where it was very busy andthen there were periods of time
when there wasn't anyone aroundus.
But I think they were doing alot of.

(28:17):
They didn't want people on thestairs.
So there were multipleAnnouncements throughout the day
of hey, right after we got in.
They were basically like hey,we're stopping people from
coming in because there's toomany people and if something
happens, security and safety isa really big thing here.
Well, they didn't have OSHA backthen, so yeah, yeah, but I will

(28:41):
say the castle itself was superinteresting.
Yeah, yeah, but I will say itwas.
The castle itself was superinteresting.
The fact that it was you know, some of these, some of the parts
of the castle were likehundreds and thousands of years
old, and the fact that theystill are, are there and you
know, basically functional, right, like, and just some of
the, you know.
It kind of goes back to havingthe conversation about the

(29:02):
pyramids, like you see some ofthe you know it kind of goes
back to having the conversationabout the pyramids, like you see
some of these, uh, you see someof these, uh, these again, I
think what they're called the uh, not the landmark the walls
where they're building thefoundation.
There we go, where they feellike a stone foundation below,
below a building or below thewall, and the fact that it's

(29:24):
completely flat, like you look,and it's a and it's a 45 degree
angle the whole way up andyou're like how did somebody do
that with random stones, right, like, because because if you
look at the wall, it's all likerandom stones with little stones
poked in between them right andum, so you're, you're trying
and then getting the exact anglethat they knew we had.

(29:46):
The footprint has to be thisbig in order for us to, when we
get to the top, be able to builda building on top of it.
That's this that has thefootprint of this big right.
Like the mathematics and stufflike that involved in all that,
I was like it's kind of mindblowing a little bit.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
They invented math.
It's fine.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah, but but no, it was that.
That was very cool, but alsovery, very exhausting.
That one was 17 flights ofstairs.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
I think, but that one was another team reported, so
we did probably double that.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Yeah, so 17 reported and, and then, and then, and
then 25,000 steps.
So then, after we got done withthat, we got back on the train
and made our way to Kobe.
And then we made it to Kobe andthen we immediately, kind of

(30:39):
refreshed, splashed water on ourface and headed out to go find
some Kobe beef, because we werelike I wasn't about to fuck
around with that.
So we went and found.
It was actually kind of it'sone of those, you see, the
customer service.
So we went into one place thatlooked interesting and the guy
was like oh, we don't have anyroom here, but we have like five

(31:02):
.
It wasn't a chain, but it waslike the same owners owned like
five different restaurants inthe same area and they said but
we have room on this one.
So he called over and made surethey had room and everything
and he's like OK, you're goingto go in the elevator and you're
going to go out and around.
And we're like, ok, cool.
So we get in the elevator, he,he starts to come on the

(31:22):
elevator with us and then hestops and we get to the bottom
of the escalator, the elevator, the door is open and there's a
chef from that restaurant, waiting for us at the door to
take us to the restaurant, andwe were like what's happening
right now?
This is.
I've never had this happen tome before.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Right now they're making exactly.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
I'm gonna give you extra money, but I can't because
it's rude and it's not donehere.
And then, when the bill came,we went.
Okay, I don't feel so bad nowSaw that bill Kobe, yeah, yeah,
so we, yeah, no shit.
So we there was, there was, yeah, there was the four of us.
We had one round of drinks andone round of food and it was 600

(32:05):
bucks, damn.
So not something that we woulddo.
Yeah, I think it's definitely aone and done.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
That would be a lot of shit too.
I'd be like can we bronze thismotherfucker?

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah , this is my Kobe shit right
here.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
That explains why he brought the chef over to make
sure he got that bill.
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
We don't want you to get lost and go in somewhere
else because we know you'reamerica, you're dumb americans,
you're just going to order stuffand not even know.
But it was a very coolexperience again.
It was like most, like it wasmultiple courses, like, I guess,
a lot of these.
It seems like that's kind ofthe way it is with a lot of
these restaurants where you knowyou get a salad, you get, uh,

(32:45):
you get a salad, you get yourmain course, you get tea
afterwards, like you know, there's yeah, I'm thinking about
that.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
I was like it's four of you, that's 150 bucks a
person.
150 bucks a person for probably, like going to a ruth, chris or
whatever.
Morton's that's probably notactually perfect.
I mean I saw a video today inGinza where I'm ready to drop 85

(33:13):
on a seafood buffet.
They got king crab legs at thisbuffet.
I'm just saying.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
We got king crab legs at home.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
Not for 85 bucks for everybody, the sushi that you
cook at your own spot, ginzahoppo.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
It was a very cool experience regardless, right,
yeah?

Speaker 2 (33:34):
yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
What's your goal?
And then we get to yesterdayand we get back to the room.
Call it a night.
Travis goes out into the dark,as he does every night after
we're done walking around.
Oh, so then, after the Kobebeef dinner we're like well,

(33:56):
let's go find a bar.
And that took probably way toolong, but it's fine.
It was one of those ones wherethe experience destination was
worth the journey.
Right, we ended up walkingaround way too long, but we
found this super cool.
It was like Underground Records.
Is that the name of theUnderground Gallery?
Yeah, underground Gallery wason the second floor, so it was

(34:21):
funny how it was an undergroundgallery, but it was a little
tiny place.
It had maybe 10 seats, but itwas a full bar.
They were playing super coolmusic.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
I used to be in a music collective in Detroit
called.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Underground, did you hear that?
So so, but he lives in Japannow and so it's just him and one
person, super, super, fuckingcool, like very, very old school
.
But like you walk in and hejust has a bunch of albums that
you can pick out and have themplay for you.
So I was like, ah, purple rain, let's do that.

(34:56):
And then he comes in, cause hehadn't shown up yet.
There were a couple otherpeople.
There were 10 seats in theentire place.
Oh, 15 minutes, 15 minute check, so, um, so there was, yeah,
but there was probably 10 seatsin the place and we went in
there, ordered a round of drinksand she's like I'll put on.

(35:16):
You know, if you want an album,we'll, I'll put it on for you.
And I was like and he had, thewhole sound system was was
fucking dialed in Like itsounded actually really, really
good for the space.
Considering what he said.
Um, so we listened to like thewhole Purple Rain soundtrack,
which was pretty awesome.
While we got, we sat there forprobably two hours drinking and

(35:38):
talking and whatnot.
And then he shows up, the ownershows up, and so Travis and Ben
spend some time talking to himand hanging out.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Super cool guy did they know him at all or no, I
mean he just happened to show up.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Ben and Travis are both very gregarious guys, only
in Japan.
We were there for I don't knowtwo, two and a half hours, then
we called it a night.
I got not really bad chillsthat night in bed, but it was
chills right, it was enough tokeep me awake.

(36:18):
And I woke up in the morningand I was like I feel like shit
and took my temperature and itwas, you know, as I showed you
guys.
So this was yesterday, as ofyesterday morning, you know,
with your phone.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Oh yeah, that's cool, I had that same.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Yeah, I had that same question actually yeah, yeah,
so my the, the, so the new Pixelphone actually has and I didn't
even think about it because Iwas like man, my head feels
super hot right now but I don'tknow.
But then I remembered oh yeah, they have like an infrared
camera.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Oh, I thought you had to put your phone in your butt
or something Like a baby, I mean, I did.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
It wasn't required, but I did it anyways, for
thoroughness.
And so that's when I sent youguys the screenshot of the 105,
and I was like, oh my god, whatthe hell?
And then, in hindsight, Iprobably picked a good day to be
sick.
Sick because I heard rainhitting the window of the hotel

(37:20):
room the entire day and Travis, ben and Jen went up on this walk
, went up on this mountain, andthey were on a ropeway and they
were like it would have beenfunny to see you on the ropeway,
but you would not have likedthe ropeway because it was.
It got pretty windy, but butyeah, so the weather today is,

(37:45):
as you can see, the weathertoday is.
It looks nice outside blue sky,so yeah, so I'm feeling much
better today.
Still have like a cough andlike still kind of a little weak
, but I also haven't eatenanything in like 36 hours at
this point.
So after we wrap up this, we'regoing to grab some food and
we're actually going to hop onthe train to head to Nara, where

(38:06):
the deer, the park deer, are.
They'll come and eat right outof your hands.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
And that was the place in the wardrobe.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
No, not Narnia, Nara, that's another bullshit.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
They're freaking gender swapping, never mind.

Speaker 3 (38:24):
That's not this podcast, lou, save it for later.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Yep, yep.
Later I could get mad aboutthem swapping that shit out
later.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
That gets us caught up to today.
We're staying in Kyoto for acouple of days.
Um, we're probably going tohead into Osaka for one of the
evenings to get some food andand take.
Supposedly, osaka has some ofthe best nightlife in, uh, in
Japan.
So we're going to go, uh, checkthat out, um, and then we're

(38:55):
doing that for two nights andthen we're heading to a place
called Hanoke with Hakone Damnit, you're so white, fucking
embarrassing.
Yeah, I know, so white, sowhite, so they're known.
That area is known for theironsens, so they so looking
forward to onsenning it up.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
You can go boil that.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Rona out of you.
Yeah, exactly, I'm just goingto go sit and I'm just going to
sweat it out.
Whatever's going on, just don'tput your head in the water.
And then, thursday, we headback to Tokyo, and then that's
when you motherfuckers are goingto be there.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Yeah, part day time.
Yeah, that's when youmotherfuckers are going to be
there, hey there heart date time.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
That's when the real party starts.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Alright, lou now it's time for your questions, q&a
section.
First, all the talk aboutFamily Mart Lawson 7-Eleven
snacks.
Have you had a chance to gointo it and is it legit?
All the good food they have?

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Yeah, I mean I haven't tried the food yet.
I'm going to probably try ittoday.
On the traveling, but yeah,it's legit.
Travis has gotten in troublemultiple times because of being
so close to a 7-Eleven and orLawson's while he's been here
it's the same.
It's kind of variations of thesame thing, but supposedly the
lawson's chicken is better, family family, the family mart

(40:19):
chicken sorry, family martchicken is better.
Yeah, but also depends on whatyou want.
So they all have very.
They all have variations onlike so what you're saying?
Is chicken nugget.
That's what I mean exactly.
I mean the only way to know, theonly way to know, the only way
to know is to do your owntesting.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
It's obviously an opinion.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
So what about the, uh , the whole?
Who does?

Speaker 5 (40:40):
what was that?

Speaker 2 (40:41):
one more time I said japanese salarymen live on
convenience store yeah, thereyou go so upper management lives
like I mean just watchingvideos it seems like there's not
like a whole lot of properbreakfast places.
Everybody just goes to aconvenience store and grabs food
.
There's a lot of bakeries.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
There's a lot of bakeries around, so that's
really the closest.
It's the hotels, and thebakeries, I think are the big
breakfast places.
There's not a ton of breakfastbreakfast places.
A lot of the restaurants willopen up at 11.30 for lunch and
then close again at 2.30 andthen open back up again at 5 and

(41:20):
be open till 10.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
So you're eating at the 7.11 because of that.

Speaker 5 (41:24):
This is your ramen you get at 5am or you're
drunkenly settling home to thefirst drink.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
Yeah there you go yeah, the onion looks pretty.
Looks pretty good too.
The whole no trash can thing.
Take your trash with you.
Is that pretty legit too?

Speaker 1 (41:41):
Yeah, no trash cans.
There's hardly any trash cansaround.
Most places will take yourtrash, though, so if you're in a
store and you have, you know,an empty bottle or an empty bag
or something like thatconvenience stores do like
7-eleven has trash cans.
Yeah, so the, the markets allhave trash cans, but as far as
like out on the street itself, there's no so they also they

(42:04):
also care about their uh, theareas in front of their shops
and stuff.
so you, in the morning, whenyou're walking around, you'll
often see people sweeping theleaves and sweeping the dirt up
and stuff like that, which ispretty cool Because, again, if
you have a clean front of yourshop, it means that the inside
of your shop is well maintainedtoo.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Curb appeal gets you in the door.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
Have you guys had a ramen, yet I have not had ramen.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
yet have we had ramen ?

Speaker 1 (42:32):
yet, yet I have not had ramen yet.
Right, have we had ramen?
Yet we have not done ramen.
No, we've not done ramen yetWe've been eating fancy.
We've been eating fancy, so Benand Jen have definitely been
making us pick the higher end.
Ramen is kind of the.
It's fast food.
Yeah, ramen is the fast foodhere, exactly, I still want to

(42:54):
try a.
Burger King burger.
Just to like say, I tried aBurger King burger.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Bro, I saw videos where there's a teriyaki Whopper
and like a teriyaki Big Mac.
I'm going to McDonald's andBurger King.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Yep, yep.
So but yeah, this morning willprobably be us just probably
grabbing some quick stuff out ofthe market and grabbing,
heading down to the train, andthen I think we have an hour
Hour or so to get to Nara.
Yeah, and then we'll go fromthere.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
Does your?
Go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
I said, the nice thing is the next couple of days
are super flexible as far aswhat we do and whatnot.
Like I said, I don't think I'mback to 100% yet, but I
definitely feel way better thanI did yesterday.

Speaker 5 (43:37):
I'm still going to try to make you ride a road bike
.

Speaker 1 (43:40):
He's still going to try to make me ride a road bike.
Well, that's kind of the plan.
So where we're staying is it'slike a 45-minute, excuse me.
So right outside of north ofKyoto there's a giant lake it's
the biggest lake in Japan calledLake Biwa, and they have a

(44:01):
really, really nice observationdeck up on the hill that you can
actually see like the wholelake from it.
So that was one of the thingsthat we may try to do.
We'll see.
So that was one of the thingsthat we may try to do.
We'll see.
We'll walk up and see how bigthe ropeway structure is, and

(44:23):
we'll have to check the weatherto see Pick up some grass, Mr
Jack you got anything before Iask my next question?

Speaker 3 (44:28):
No, I'm good.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
Red.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Light District.
How's that?
We're waiting for you.
Red Light District.
We're waiting for you.
Well district.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
We're waiting for you .
Well shit, that's good lookingnow, bro.
Yeah, I'm not.
I mean, I'm not gonna.
I want that experience tohappen with all of us.
I don't want to just experiencethis myself for the first time.
That sounds gay he sounds shot.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
Yeah, any, any tote stuff.
Like you know the whole.
They're trying to pull you intowhatever has.
Have you had that happen yet?

Speaker 1 (44:57):
not yet nobody's trying to bring you in.

Speaker 2 (45:00):
I mean a lot of them it's.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
It's actually where we've been has been very passive
with the um.
It's just a bunch of uh girlsstanding out holding up a sign
that indicates like wherethey're at uh, the most the so
far.
The funniest story is that wedid walk in front of a maid cafe
and the girl started waving atus and ben started waving at her

(45:22):
and then the girl startedwaving with both hands and then
ben started waving with bothhands and then he kept walking
and we're like dude, that's justfucking rude, that's so fucking
rude, dude.
But it was also the funniest.
That was also that he had thebiggest smile on his face while
he was doing it and we were justlike man, that's fucked up.
But he's like what do you mean?
It's like dude, she wanted youto come in and there's no way he
would have been able to go inthere because he would have been

(45:43):
disemboweled.
But the fact that he was likethe look on his face while he's
waving at her, while she just itwas like yeah, it was one of
those moments that you'll neverbe able to replicate.
But you were.
You're so glad you were therefor that, because then his wife
was just like yeah, I mean, Isuggest that we go in, yeah.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
Tell her to be more secure.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
Also also here's Travis everybody.
Our first guest on the pod.

Speaker 5 (46:12):
The thing with the touts I try to warn everybody
with is that generally like, ifthey're standing in front of the
stores holding a sign or maybewaving at you, then it's fine.
But in Osaka and like Kabukichoand Tokyo, there'll be people
who very aggressively like comeup to you.
And it's the people who come upto you and kind of really try

(46:34):
to push on you that you'll stillprobably get what they're
offering.
You're just going to probablypay three or four times what
they're telling you that you'regoing to get right.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
Alright, alright.
Last question I have for you, then, because you got like a
minute you seen any black peoplethere yet?

Speaker 1 (46:53):
Black people.
The owner of the bar.

Speaker 2 (46:57):
He's from Detroit, he's from Detroit, so come on
now.

Speaker 5 (47:02):
Sadly, a lot of the touts in Kabuki Cho are Nigerian
for some reason.
Oh, damn there's a Nigerian toJapan pipeline.

Speaker 2 (47:11):
I'm about to get a bad rep.

Speaker 5 (47:12):
You've got a lot of foreigners japan pipeline I'm
about to get a bad rap.
Foreigners, I feel like you see, uh, more black people kind of
like in yokohama, uh, or youknow kind of how you see them
around tokyo.
You see them outside of tokyo, closer to where the bases are,
um, but there's a very stronglike love of hip-hop and rap
culture here.

(47:32):
I think think that came inthrough the American military.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Jack, you're good to go Start brushing up when you're
not like us there you go,there's a big club in Shibuya
called Harlem.

Speaker 5 (47:46):
What was that?

Speaker 1 (47:47):
one more time.

Speaker 5 (47:47):
There's a big club in Shibuya called Harlem, a big
club in Shibuya called Harlem, that's probably where I've seen
the most black people in Japan.

Speaker 3 (47:55):
Lou just wants to know so he can avoid them.
Yeah, that's right, yeah, yeah,yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:00):
I want to leave with all my identification and credit
cards, All right.
Dean.
Hold on before you log out.
So here.
So I got a gift from old girlbut she's like, oh, oh, you're
going, you might want this.
So it finally arrived today.
It was supposed to arrive awhile ago.
You gotta have to tell me if itshows up on screen.

(48:22):
Nice so that's the gift, thatthat's awesome so yeah they're
into baseball, I figured youknow, and I'm a Dodgers fan.
It's like what the hell?
Just go all out and do it.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
Oh, when we were in Hiroshima, we were walking
through the market district andthere was a place that had a
giant sign that said Otani S andit said what was it?
It was female exams orsomething like that.
Oh yeah, and I was like and I'mlike, okay, that's somebody

(49:07):
who's riding Otani's dick rightnow.
It's like his brother, Steve,or something like that.
And they just put the S in.
So you show up and you're likeI need to get another mammogram
from Shohei.
And they're like, sorry,Shohei's out, All we have is
Steve.
Like now Shohei has 12 morebrothers and sisters than he did

(49:28):
before he was.

Speaker 2 (49:31):
Oh my.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
God.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Top of the hour.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
buddy, Don't get in trouble, don't get in trouble,
don't get in trouble thank youall right boys for all that I
will uh four more days.

Speaker 2 (49:41):
Can't wait to see you .
Uh travis, thank you forjumping in on this, appreciate
it is he gonna be with us forsome of this?

Speaker 1 (49:46):
for some of this when we're there he'll be with us
for some of it.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Yeah, he'll join us he's gonna join us at least for
sure on saturday, for but yeah,he'll be around, he'll meet us,
yeah, dinners and is a guy.
Yeah, hell yeah.

Speaker 1 (50:01):
Yeah, we're all in the same.
He's in that.
We're all in the same generalarea, so and it's only a 15 or
20 minute train ride to meet up,so sweet.
But yeah, we'll talk on.
We'll definitely talk onThursday when you guys get close
and figure it out.
I will effort to get my badgesand stuff like we talked about.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
But we'll talk about that more offline.
Yeah, just see what the shirtis Shit, if it's even worth it.
Yeah, see if it's worth it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, we'll know.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
I think Tuesday was when you can first start getting
them.
So we'll know.
Well, you'll know tomorrow, once we start seeing stuff
posted online, and if it's wortha damn great, we'll get it, if
not, it's like I'll pass.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
Yeah, alright, boys, I'm going to drop off if you
guys want to keep going, awesome, otherwise I'll see you guys.
Thursday Yep, later Peace.
How do I say goodbye inJapanese Sayonara For?
You it'd be matane.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
Matane there we go, done Peace Now I really want to
get going.
You're off.
I got to do work still, although, let's be real, I'm
going to work tomorrow because Igot a meeting Tuesday.
I'm going to be checked out.
I'm going to be checked out onTuesday.
I ain't doing shit on Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
What's important today?

Speaker 2 (51:12):
I'm out.
I'm going to get to workTuesday morning.
I'm going to get whateveremails.
I have to get done.
I'm going to put my out ofoffice on at like 9 am and I am
done for the rest of the day.
I know exactly how it's goingto be, especially today after
watching the Uenoeno district, that one that I sent you with

(51:33):
the food and ginza.
So I was doing ginza, I wasdoing uh, was it shibuya?
And then the other one, that'swhat, the shinkura, whatever
something with the k.
So shinjuku, that's what it was, shinjuku, shibura, ginza, and
then ueno, ueno, slash, uh,akihabara, because they're right

(51:54):
there.
But watching those back to backto back, I was like man, this
is getting me going.
But I ain't lying dude.
I saw that Ginza Hoppa that Italked about 20 minutes ago and
that seafood buffet lookedfantastic and steak and all the
stuff you could get with it too.
Cook at your own station and Iwas like man $85?

(52:16):
.
I'm going gonna eat ramen andright, I mean I'm eating ramen
and cheap shit the whole time, because all the videos I'm
watching try this street food, try this street food, try this
street food.
But when it comes to like arestaurant, because obviously
the buffet but I'm not gettingserved like that that was the so
far.
That has been the first one thatI finally saw that say I'm
going there yeah, the wife saysshe wants to make sure we hit a
Michelin star restaurant.

Speaker 3 (52:38):
Oh, snap, okay, because they have the most
Michelin star restaurants in theworld in Tokyo.

Speaker 2 (52:45):
Okay, all right, good to know.
Does she have any in mind?
Is she looking or just kind offigure?

Speaker 3 (52:50):
it out.
When we get there, she's justkind of along for the ride, I
think.
So Just kind of figure it out.
When we get there, she's justkind of along for the ride, I
think.

Speaker 2 (52:57):
So, whatever we want to do I think she's whatever
Maybe what we do is we ask ourconcierge at the hotel yeah.
Or whether that's where we arefirst hotel or second hotel
closer, I think the Disney hotelmight be a better idea and
maybe do that Wednesday night, have a nice ass dinner before
before Disney on Thursday.
So we check in on Wednesday.

(53:18):
Ask them, cause that's theother thing, if we, if we do go
to that buffet, uh, the videosaid that, the reservation and
with a Japanese number.
So the hotel is probably goingto make the reservations for us
anyway.
Unless I get the table log, uhapp, I can do it through them.
Yeah, but I'm going to ask theconcierge to see if they'll just
book it for us, because I'mlike, oh, I saw that it's like

(53:40):
12,000 yen, done Shit, don'teven care.
Oh, I meant to ask him aboutthe Suica card.
Like, has he been using it foreverywhere?
Yeah, right, because all thevideos say it.
I mean I can't believe.
Celebrations, even excitingthat card?
yeah, it's like oh okay, but Icould have swore from the videos
I saw.
It only maxes out at 20 000,like you can.

(54:01):
Only you can't put more than 10000 at a time.
Yeah, and it maxes that 20.
I'm like dude, I'm gonna usethat the first couple days,
right shoot, especially if it'staken everywhere, between the
trains, the buses, theconvenience stores.
Now Celebration, it's like Goddang, I'm going to have to
seriously max.
Luckily for us, though, becauseyou can top it up at the

(54:21):
station Exactly, we're going tobe at the station twice a day,
every day, so not that big of adeal.
And then cash.
I'll max out cash the firsttime.
I think 100,000 yen orsomething like that is the cash
you can max out at the ATM.
They're like well, I'm going tospend that eventually.
I may as well save myself thefees, the transaction fees each
time.
Can't stop the 3%, but I canstop that $250 every time I use

(54:43):
an ATM.
So just do it.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
We actually have one that has no international fees.

Speaker 2 (54:50):
Actually, I don't have a debit card that way, but
I have a credit card that's zerointernational.
I was like, well, I know it'scredit card I'm using.
As soon as it's funny, I wentthrough my credit cards, uh,
probably two weeks agospecifically to do that, yep, so
I'm looking at mine.
It was like I've got two ofthem at 0%, two of them at one
at 2% and three at 3%.

(55:12):
I'm all like you.
Three percenters can stay here.
Yep.

Speaker 3 (55:15):
I don't even want to be tempted.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
Nope, I'm looking, I'm like okay, so the two zeros
and the two ones, those are theonly ones I'm using the whole
time there.
So that was kind of cool.
I was like and I did all myinternational travel
notifications.

Speaker 3 (55:31):
My bank doesn't even have that anymore.
That's like whatever, Just go.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
You know what?
My debit card for my US bank.
They didn't say like, yeah, wedon't do that.
Yeah, two of my credit cards, though, I did have to put in the
international information anddates and it was like, oh, just
put in Vegas too, in case I buysomething while I'm in Vegas.
I don, I want to risk it, but Ihave the backup card, so if

(55:54):
something happens, I at leasthave the back and I'll have the
cash on me if something happens.
And apparently I'll have aSuica on me too, in case a Suica
if that happens, because whoknows Shit?
Oh my God.
And then, travel-wise, I pickedup.
Did you see the Facebook groupthat had those little coin

(56:15):
holders for the six differenttypes of coins and yen?
I picked up Hang on a second, you gotta see this, okay.
So I happened to buy these.
Like two days before I sawsomebody in the Facebook group
say, oh, these are great to helporganize your coins and
everything.
So it's, oh, that's cool.
No, oh, these are great.
They'll help organize your coinsand everything.
So it's the.

(56:36):
Oh, that's cool.
No, I see it.
Yeah, so this thing, and it wasa three-pack, so I'll have a
couple extra.
Yeah, bring those for sure.
Oh hell, yeah, so.
Yeah, so you can organize yourcoins.
I'm taking cargo pants, so if Ican just put all my coins in
that and then just drop that inmy cargo pocket or my backpack,
whatever, I thought it was verywell done.
I was like, oh well, shit, I'mdoing that.

(56:57):
And then two days later it wasso funny the day these arrived
somebody posted to Facebookgroup oh my God, this coin thing
is fantastic, Get one of these.
I'm like, got it covered.
And the best part is, if youneed more, we have a lot of
coins, they is.
If we need more, let's say wehave a lot of coins they sell
them at the dollar store?
well, the Daiso.
Yeah, they sell them at theDaisos in Japan, so we can

(57:18):
always pick up some while we'rethere.
We ain't gonna have coins.

Speaker 3 (57:22):
Oh, look at that Darth Vader fucking capture
machine.
Gotcha, yep, yep, I need to getthe whole set.

Speaker 2 (57:29):
I think there's a.

Speaker 3 (57:29):
Monk, a Vader and a Palpatine.
Then there's a Grogu series, soyou get a bunch of different
Grogus.
You get.
Ig-11.
And then you put Grogu inside.
Ig-11.
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
Now we ain't going to have no coins.
I saw that 400 apiece, and theyonly take 100 yen coins, so
that was interesting to know.
But they all have 1,000 yenbreakers, right, so 1,000 get.
They all have thousand yenbreakers, right, so a thousand
get 10.
So all the stores have that.
So that was super cool.
But um, uh, I'm trying to thinkof the little travel.
Obviously, my phone stand.
I've got two power banks now, cause my cat one showed up

(58:03):
yesterday.
Uh, I chart matter of fact, Icharged them both over the
weekend.
So the big one, the one we'vehad forever, uh, that fucker
took a day and a half to charge.

Speaker 3 (58:14):
Yeah, yeah.
That's why I got out of mine.
I'm cause it hardly workedanymore for me.
Oh really.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
Okay, Mine still works.
I just think the day and a halfcharge cause it's so big, but
it still worked great.
So I'm taking both um with mewhen I likely.
I don't how it goes, becauseI'll get an idea of how much I'm
using my phone after a coupledays.
It may just be the one.
Either way, I have to carry iton anyway.
I'm not allowed to check that, but I don't know if that one we

(58:42):
just got, how well is that goingto do?

Speaker 3 (58:45):
You know it works pretty well.
We've been using those for awhile, oh, okay, well, I may
just not bother.

Speaker 2 (58:51):
Then, if that's the big one, I just may not bother
with the big one, the cat one.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
It works really well.
I've been able to charge allthree of our phones at Disney,
okay, cool.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
Yeah, I may just do that and then charge it every
night.
Recharge it overnight.
Okay, because the other one isheavy.
Exactly, it's kind of a pain inthe butt.
It's heavy.
So I may just not even botherthen and just bring the little
one, because the weight isprobably it's probably a sixth
of the weight of that big assbrick, um.
And then I picked up some usb ato c, c to a converters,

(59:26):
because just because I don'tknow what I'm gonna have, I was
like you know what these thingsare?
Small, uh, no big deal.
There I have all my cables.
I'm using my my phone case, formy phone is the magnetic kind,
uh, so I'll bring that with me,so if I'm walking around I can
put in my backpack not to worryabout cables getting undone,
like, just put it in this littlepocket, magnet on it all of the
day yeah, we went to um target.

Speaker 3 (59:49):
We got doggy bags poop.
I was like that's a good-assidea though, so we got those.
I got a multi-adapter, amulti-plug thing with USB A and
C to go in it and then we weregoing to they needed deodorant

(01:00:10):
and shit and we walked by theVitamins and behind the Vitamins
is where all the vibrators andshit are.
Oh yeah, I'm trying to keep alittle one looking at the
vitamins, she turns around.
I need one of those for my feet.
I'm like nope, we out, we'redone.
Target's done, we're out.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Be ready to make some OF fetish videos.
It is on, I'm going to use thisand feet.
Oh my god.
She did so well.
She bought the house next toyou.
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
I checked her meds.
There's a little blurb it's apsychotropic as long as it's
under a certain amount.
You don't need permission, youdon't need a doctor's note,
nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Hers is way under Nothing, and hers is way under
so.
Alright, well, that helps,Because I was like man, that
would have been shitty.

Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
I think there'd be enough there, because Japan
looks very ADD to me.
She would have been.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
That's a good point.

Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
That shit looks very ADD to me.
She would be entertained byeverything going on.

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
You pick any one of those shopping touristy
districts and it's just likewhat the fuck.

Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Also, we do need to eat in Piss Alley, just to see
what we did.

Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
I think I agree with that.
Yeah, yeah, that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
I want Little One to go home and on school on Tuesday
to tell everybody that she ateat Piss Alley.

Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
She will have no problem sharing Nope that she
ate at piss alley.
She will have no problemsharing nope at all at all.

Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
oh my god um, but yeah, we'll have to seriously
look into it.
If you guys want so much thatwe want to do, I'm just gonna
have to figure out what works.
What's close?

Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
that island.
That island might be a thing.
Like I said, if you're like, oh, we don't have the bullet train
on the list, okay, we'll add itto the list and we'll do it
where it's useful, not just totake it.
Just to take it, it's like, well, fuck it, let's just take
it and get the cherry blossomsup north so we can actually see
the bloom and knock off CatIsland at the same time.
So we'll have to do someresearch on that.

(01:02:09):
Luckily we have time, thoughright, it's like between now and
time we leave, plus we have theThursday, friday, saturday,
sunday, Monday that we're thereExactly.

Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
Yeah, we can still plan there, because we already
have that locked out Exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
That's already locked up.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Yeah, so then we can start narrowing down.
Like okay, we're here.
Trains take so long to get here.

Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
You know, maybe we can do this area and this area
on one day, and especially ifthere's, like, I think, if the,
if I'm not mistaken, if thetrain I'm not the train goes
west or north, where, where?
This is that wisteria thing, the great wisteria, that big
purple hanging tree, uh, haveyou seen that?
Yeah, that thing looks, thatthing looks pretty badass.
So if that's on the way catisland and the in the sakuras
going north, well then, hell, that just even works out any
better.
Yeah, because as of right now, tuesday, wednesday are still

(01:02:56):
open days.
So all I know is what'shappening Thursday to Monday
night.
After that it's just whatevercomes up.
So if that's what comes up,then so be it.
So, again, we'll see how itplays out, what works best,
because we still have to do thehotel transfer from tuesday and
wednesday, so that's a thing.

(01:03:17):
Uh, I'm still on board with theluggage forwarding on tuesday,
on tuesday, and then that way wecan check in at our leisure on
wednesday.

Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Um, so, and then we should still be able to just
pack the little suitcase and bigsuitcase by then too.
I don't see us being out ofroom and suitcase till after
Disney.

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Exactly, especially for y'all, y'all especially
after.

Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
For me, most of my shopping will probably be
celebration Unless you get a HotToys, though I don't see you
filling up your suitcaseEverything you're like, oh, I'm
going to buy this.
I'm going to buy this.
They're all fucking pens it.
I'm going to buy this.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
They're all fucking pins it's this big yeah exactly,
There'll be a lot of them, butthat's still exactly.
You're not filling up asuitcase, it's going to fill up
a shoe box, is probably what.
I'm going to fill up when allsaid and done, all the pins,
everything, blind box, I don'tsave the boxes, so all the blind
boxes that's not true into onebox.

(01:04:11):
I was like man, I'm going tohave so many pins.
I'm like, wait a minute, theyall fit in smaller less than a
shoebox when all is said anddone.
Even though I went apeshit, I'mcurious how it's going to be.
Everybody's all nervous, theFacebook groups, they're all
nervous about the crowds and howmany people are going to be
there.
I'm like if I can get into thestore, I think I'll be okay Once

(01:04:35):
I get into the store, once Idon't care If we only end up in
the store once and then ourLightning Lane 2 later in the
weekend.
I'm probably okay with thatExactly, I think it'll be fine,
it'll be interesting.
We're just like, oh my god, there's supposed to be a hundred
and something thousand people.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
I'm like there's no way, there's no celebrations.
Have that many people?

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
no, it's supposed I think 70 was the biggest, or
something like that.
There's 140 000 people atopening of expo, so I can't
imagine there's going to be thatmany.
Yeah, we're not bigger than ananime expo in japan.

Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
No, no, because I think it's not expensive to be
there.
It's expensive to get there andthat turns people off, because
the first thing you look at isplane tickets.
You're like fucking, fifteenhundred dollars each.
Nope, we're out.
You don't even look later, belike, oh, but the hotels only
cost me 300 bucks for theweekend right, right, you're not
looking at that as well.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
That's a way to average it out and it's like oh
wait, the whole trip was, youknow, 200 a day or whatever,
including hotel and flight.
If you look at it that way,it's like, oh, I would have
totally right, so so.

Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
I don't know, I don't see it being that big.
It's not going to be as big aseither of the Anaheim shows.
No, definitely not the one umin 15 was force awakens coming
out.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Yeah, this is a non-movie celebration.

Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
It's hardly even celebrated in anything, even
though it should be.
Force Awakens and Revenge ofthe Sith.
But the biggest thing they haveis Andor coming out that
weekend.
I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
And you don't have a lot of the actors showing up
either.
Granted, I still compare shitto Episode 3 and Celebration 3,
where it was a ridiculous amountof people there actor-wise.
You look at the list and it'slike are there even 15 people
that are going to be there?

Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Yeah, exactly, the autograph hall is going to be so
small and everybody's going tobe in line for Hayden.

Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Uh, yep that sounds about right, which is fine.

Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
Cause, then they're not in line with the stores.

Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
You know I'm, I'm just I support that.
Yeah, I looked at the map.
Hot toys booth looks pretty big.
Uh, that's probably where I'mgoing.
I've got some stuff to get fromthere, the little small figures
and all that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
It's like do I do Fig Pin Hot Toys Roosevelt.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Dude, exactly I think Roosevelt I don't think will
sell out right away, becauseeven Comic-Con didn't sell out
until the next day.
So I'm not worried aboutRoosevelt, the way I used to be.

Speaker 3 (01:07:07):
Well, not at this show.
At Comic-Con, you still got toworry about it.
Yes, yes this show.

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Not so much, yeah, but even Comic-Con it didn't
sell out until the next day.
That's true, it didn't sell outuntil the next day.
So I don't know if they'regoing to.
I assume they're going to dothe ticket thing again.
Roosevelt's Get a ticket line.
So if I'm in there I'll get aticket line and all that.
But all Now, sunday isdifferent.
Sunday I can go to the exhibithall floor first because for me

(01:07:34):
I have a 1030 Lightning Lane forSunday at the store.
So I'm definitely going toexhibit hall floor first on
Sunday.
Friday.
Saturday.
It's going to be CelebrationStore on Friday, for sure
Saturday will be.
It depends on how theCelebration Store goes.

Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
Yeah, how well do we do on our?

Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
pens Exactly, especially if there's a limit on
the blinds, like they were.
Remember it was a two to six,it was six, it was a six pack,
because we were getting sixpacks yeah.
So if they do that again, okay, fine, but if I get what I need,
okay, then I'm good to go.

Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
But if I need to go back, if I'm going to start two
sets and a bunch of loaf catsCool.

Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
Done Exactly, and that's the other side of that
coin too, loaf cats.
Is it only going to be in thestore for staff trading or are
they going to be all over thefloor for staff trading?
So these things that I've gotto figure out.
That's going to affect what Ido on the floor, but I have a
feeling it's going to be Fridaycelebration store, saturday will
be probably celebration storeand then the floor, and then

(01:08:32):
Sunday is floor and thenCelebration Store, lightning
Lane.
So I think because of Sunday iswhy I'm okay doing the floor on
, I mean, the store both Fridayand Saturday.
First, yeah for sure, and thenbecause I can do the floor on
Sunday first and I'll be in lineearly.

(01:08:52):
Like I told you, it's going tobe 5.30 breakfast.
I'm assuming it'll be you andBig One.
Whether the other two show uplater that's fine, but I assume
it'll be the three of us.
5.30 breakfast, 6 o'clock train, and then we're in line at 6.
By that time it's about 7o'clock in line, so two hours
early, and we will learn if onFriday morning, if we need to be

(01:09:14):
there earlier on Saturdaymorning.

Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
So maybe we got to skip breakfast.
Hit up the convenience.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing.
Like it's going to be skipbreakfast and just hit the
Family Mart or Lawson's that'sin our hotel building.
I think there's a Lawson in ourhotel building.
Let's just hit that on our wayto the train.
So if Friday turns out like, ohokay, getting here at 7, 2
hours early wasn't good enough, well, we need to get in later.
But again, having theaccessibility, we'll see if that

(01:09:42):
helps and just makes it easier.
Because if the accessibilityhelps on Friday, then we know
we're like, okay, we still enjoyour breakfast, still Go from
there.
But yeah, definitely superexcited as we're getting closer
and closer, less stressed over, like, okay, my Amazon stuff came
in, so that's good to go.
I still haven't figured outwhat I'm going to pack.
Like I know I'm taking fourpairs of pants, three cargo

(01:10:05):
pants and a pair of jeans.
I know I'm taking that I gotall new socks, so I'm taking my
shoes off everywhere.

Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
I had Target too.
I was like oh, my socks andthen I had to make sure little
one had socks, because theydon't want you wearing
mismatched socks, and she's intothat right now.
Oh, I didn't see anything aboutthat, yeah, no, we were
watching a video about um eatingat the, um jacuzzis or whatever
the fuck they are izakaya, yeahand yeah.

(01:10:31):
And they said it's not like ohshit, you're like you know
Scarlet Letter, You'll get looks.
It's not normal, Okay.
It's bad enough for white, solet's not be that much weirder.

Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
Shit you.
I wish I watched these videos.
I'm like there ain't no blackpeople.
I was like Japanese peoplearen't really friendly with
black.
I'm like, oh, they're not likethe Italians are with black
people, but I'm like this isgoing to be interesting.
However, with my hair, theymight think I'm like Indian or
something.

Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
So they might not even look at me as a black
person.
Yeah, you're not rocking anafro and cornrows and shit.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
Exactly, I show up with cornrows or a pic in my
hair.
Then they're like they're goingto see me in a star Wars gear.
He's like, oh, he's nerd.
Exactly, say no, get to comeshow me your Decepticon.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
You're like nah, I love Japanese.

Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
It's like you're right.
It's like he can't be betterthan that.
But yeah, going through, Igotta figure out, like, like I
know I'm gonna buy a t-shirt,probably at the expo, at least I
know I'm gonna buy probablythree at celebration.
It's like, do I even want tobother?
Like I'm seriously not consider, like the the may 20, the may

(01:11:43):
4th shirts we just got, thatmight be the only t-shirt I
bring.
Like, seriously, yeah, becausewe got the good, think about it.
Friday, saturday, sunday, myshirt's already picked.
Monday I can wear the May the4th shirt or whatever I buy from
Celebration at that point, because at that point I'll have
shirts but I'll have obviouslymore Roosevelt shirts.

(01:12:10):
Then I'm going to have whatevert-shirts that the Celebration
store is going to have, becausethat Vader shirt is obviously
one of the ones I'm getting, andthen I'm going to have a shirt
when I get to osaka for the expo.
So at least one or two shirtsfrom there.
And then, like I said, laundryis on tuesday for me, so it's
like I don't, I don't reallythink I need to bring.
I could probably get away noteven bringing that may the
fourth shirt uh because whateverI buy a celebration or you know

(01:12:32):
what I do, I wear that on.
I wear that on tuesday on theplane.
So I'm going to do laundry thefollowing Tuesday.
Anyways, I could wear it againwhile I'm there.
So I think I wear it on theplane and then not even, not
even bring another T-shirt.
Why, why waste the space when Iknow I'm going to be coming
back with probably eight to tennew shirts?

(01:12:53):
Let's assume a day each forRoosevelt, that's three.
Osaka is going to be and you'llknow.

Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
Well, I guess we won't know before we leave if
the Roosevelt's so that's threeOsaka is going to be one and
you'll know.
Well, I guess we won't knowbefore we leave if the
Roosevelt's will be.

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
I don't know.
We might, we might, they mighthave it announced they might
have it announced by then.
Because, C2E2's over.
Uh-huh.

Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
Yeah, we might, we might.
There's a chance.
And then you'll know, am I?

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
buying all three or or even if I just buy one, I'm
still getting probably at leastthree shirts from the
celebration store.
Yeah, I know of one for certainthat I'm getting.
Yeah, so, so, worst casescenario, that that'll be my
monday shirt.
So I buy one.
If I don't take any extrashirts, well, that's my monday
shirt, and then when I go toosaka that's my tuesday shirt,
and then tuesday I'm doinglaundry, so I could get away

(01:13:37):
with that.
A matter of fact, I think Iwant to save space just for more
collectibles and souvenirs todisney, and most of the shit's
not going to be for me anyway.
We both know that.
Uh, let's be real.
Uh, the way you're shopping, the way you're shopping for
little one, I'll be shopping formine over here.
So, uh, I fucking swear man,it's, it's that list is like oh,

(01:13:58):
that's cute.
I'm like like I hear that'scute one more time because that
translates to buy that for methat's exactly what that means.
It's like okay, okay.
And there's some stuff likewe're watching videos today and
it was I'm looking, I'm like andall I look.
It's like oh my god, all right,so now I have to go to the ikea
.

Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
I have to go to the ikea store wife said she wants
to go to Ikea.

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
So oh, my God.

Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
OK, well, that's happening yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
There's an exclusive purple and gray bag that Shut
the fuck up Like the shoppingbags.

Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
Yeah, the blue one.

Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
No, it's purple and gray Right, like the ones we
have.

Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Yes, that get purple on there I'm going to tell my
wife about that, she'll be like, yep, we're going Just so we can
go to Ikea and be fuckingbougie.
I put it on my.

Speaker 5 (01:14:45):
Wicked mom, purple bag Exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
I can't remember if it's Shibuya or the other one,
but it's not Ginza, I know thatmuch.
I think it's Shibuya.
Either way, I think it'sShibuya, it's Ikea.
I think it's called IkeaShibuya, it's like that.
So that's on the list, cause Ihave to come back with that bag.

Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
I wonder how their Swedish meatballs are there.

Speaker 2 (01:15:09):
It's probably Takoyaki.
It's like it's round yeah,whatever, that's how they,
that's how they plan on doing it.
Oh my God, yeah.
So that's how it went.
And it's like ooh, that's cute,Ooh, it's like oh my God, yeah,
yeah, okay, do I need to addthat?
Yes, do I need to add that?
Yeah, I'm like man.
I swear each T-shirt I don'tbring is something I can bring

(01:15:34):
back for her Right?
It's like why do you need thatmany socks?
You can do laundry twice.

Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
Wash your socks in the sink and hang them to dry
while you're at the show Forreal what are you doing?

Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
You can just rotate these socks every day.

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
Not that you need two pairs Wear one and dry the
other ones.

Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Man, these aren't Air Force Ones.
Girl, Come on.
Only some of y'all are going toget that joke.

Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
That's okay, though I don't know it's gonna be a
little overwhelming, I think.
Just trying.
I like the way that we are, though.
We have this big, huge fuckinglist and if we don't get to it,
cool I mean it's obviously werank stuff right, like you have
to go to world's fair.
That's your jam exactly I.
We're going to have our things.

(01:16:19):
It has to happen.
Cat Island.
Okay, maybe it happens, maybeit doesn't.
The Cherry Blossoms.
Cool if we, you know.
Everything else is it's goingto depend on.
how does UNO Park do us?
Are we going to every fuckingmuseum up there?
That's possible.

Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
They're saying three hours per museum minimum.
The videos I'm watching, likeyou want to spend three hours
minimum at each museum and theway we are with museums, we
would be there, all three hours,we would be there the three
hours.

Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
Even my oldest is exactly like we are.
She has to read everything andsee everything.
So, I don't know, maybe thatends up taking the whole fucking
day and we don't do anythingelse.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
That tricks me out that those museums are like six
bucks to enter.
I was like are you, are youkidding me?
Six like four, four buck, sixhundred yen, four bucks yeah,
four bucks for this one.
And six bucks, like what right?
How is that so cheap?
Child under 11, free right?
Like oh, cool yep it's likedang.
But yeah exactly, we're gonnahave some stuff that we have to

(01:17:20):
do.
Then everything else will belike we want to do and then
we'll see how the day takes usIf we have a plan to go here and
we see this cool ass thing overhere detour.

Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
Yep, that's just how it is.
Maybe it doesn't take us, maybeour detour doesn't take as long
.
We still get to do everything.
Yeah, we still do do it yeah, but let's throw it out there
like, like I might have a fewlike now.
The ikea store is on the list.
Hey, I just told you it's on mylist so, which worked out
anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
So, and then, while we do that, I, I, I know, are
you doing the google maps thingwhere you find a spot and you,
just I'm doing the save.
Uh, japan tourists say I made afolder for japan it's a google
map I've got like I've got, yeah, so so what you do is when
you're, when you're on your mapand let's just say you put in
the IKEA or whatever when you go, you can slide over this, I

(01:18:05):
guess, finger from right to left.
So slide left and there's thatlittle bookmark looking tab.
Hit that for save and you canput in a folder.
I created a folder that'scalled Japanese or Japan
tourists, so all the points thatI want to see are in this
folder.
So if we happen to be someplaceand you look at your map.
I'm like, oh, this is nearby andwe can go check that out, so

(01:18:27):
that's why we're doing this.
So when you go through, you gottime tomorrow.
Whatever you're doing, just gothrough what videos you're
watching.
That's what I did today.
I'm sitting here watchingvideos with my phone app and the
google map app, like, oh, thatlooks cool, do, do, do, do, do,
save japan tourists, wait toknow.
Like, nah, I'm not interestedon it.
And like three, three to fourthings each video.

(01:18:48):
I was able to mark somethingokay.
So when we do go to shibuyacrossing and all that, I'm like,
oh, by the way, this is overhere, this is over here, the
mega don quixote store is overhere there's over here.

Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
We watched a video the other day.

Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Wife was like yeah, we're going there, that's
happening mega, that, yep, we doshibuya, and the thing is,
because I'm marking these things, it'll be efficient.
So it's like, okay, the nextone's here, the next one, as we
work our way walking towardsmega don quixote, so okay so
yeah, if you get a, you get achance start start marking that.
It's super easy to do.
I was like I saw somebody elsedoing that on a video I watched.

(01:19:21):
I was like, oh, that's cool.
I didn't realize you could dothat.
So I was just, you know, justlike okay, mental note I gotta
go to this park like uena, everything around uena park, so
it's like yeah, it's likeeverything the park itself, all
the fat, all the street foodaround in the park.
That's easy one.
Then I saw a video yesterday.
There's like some island with,uh, there's the way, there's a

(01:19:44):
cat island, there's like a bunnyisland or something like that
also, and then there's like aspot where just check out the
I'll tell you what's interestinguh, one of the things that I'm
really not interested in.

Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
I'm not saying I'm gonna do it, but I'm not really
interested on that all theshrines if we go buy one cool,
yep, I will check it out, but isit on my list?
That won't that?
The the touristy one with thatbig ass paper lantern maybe?
Oh yeah, if I was to say we hadto do one, it would be that one
, just because, like thetouristy, it's when you see on

(01:20:17):
TV all the time Like, oh, I'vebeen there, oh yeah, but no, I
mean.

Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
I don't know, but that's how it's, I think, and I
was explaining this earlier.

Speaker 4 (01:20:33):
Well, where you went, I mean, there's a bunch of
shrines.

Speaker 3 (01:20:34):
We're like oh cool, oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
I mean it's there, yeah.
Yeah, I'm trying to explain toOgre earlier was there are so
many shrines, it kind of takesaway the glory of it.
You know, if there was likethis one shrine or five total,
and all you know, it's like, ohmy God, I need to go to this.
But there's like, oh, there's ashrine here, there's a shrine
here you go to the back alley.

Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
there's a shrine there and it's like oh, there's
I.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
If it's, if it's the 7-11 of touristy spots, and why
am I gonna buy, you know, what Imean.

Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
It's like there's so many there's one.

Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
You turn around, oh there's a shrine.
Go down that alley, there's ashrine.

Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
Okay, yeah, yeah like I said, the big, huge one cool,
but no, it's.
Those are not super on my list.
I want to see the museumsthere's that, uh, see the
museums there's that uh it'slike some technical uh park

(01:21:26):
museum, a team lab one.
Yeah yeah, that was trippy asfuck dude with the lights.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
I was.
I was, it was on my list.
I'm not saying it's, I'm notsaying it's off my list, but it
was higher up because evie toldme about it.
I was like, oh, that lookspretty badass.
There's little silver globethings they had going.
I'm like that looks super sweet.
And then me and old girl waslooking at it and she's like you
know part of that, you'restanding in water right.

Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
I'm like, oh, I'm out when I was watching the video I
was like I don't think louwould do that.
You gotta take your shoes offand roll your pants up a little
bit and you gotta walk throughwater oh, I was.

Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
Yep, you called it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
I was like well, so much for that I might not be on
this list anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
Unless I can skip that route.
You know what I mean, If I canget away.

Speaker 3 (01:22:05):
I'll see you guys on the other side.

Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
Right, it's like hey, is there like a bridge or
something that I can just goaround?
Can I get some sloshers?
Right, you've got a ferryman.
I got a 100 yen coin, 500 coins, you got a fair, something
exactly.
But yeah, once I was like, oh,because this is this, is this,
was us watching the video?

(01:22:27):
Literally, it was just, oh man, that place looks badass.
Oh, my god, blah, blah, blah.
You know you have to get in thewater, right, you're stepping
it like wait what?
And it popped up and like, oh,it's probably clean water.

Speaker 3 (01:22:38):
It's not, you know, it's not like the beach.

Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
I tell a bunch of people have all their damn toes
up in it.
You don't know what fungus.
They got it's like again.
I'm not saying I won't do it,it's just less higher on my list
now.

Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
No, I'm gonna make you do it, just so I can
videotape your face.

Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
I'll say like, yeah, you're like, I'm going to look
like Ice Cube the whole time.
I'm just going to walk throughthis water looking like this.

Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
You'd be like, look, something just went by my leg.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Tuck it in the water.
But if we are going to, we'vegot to pick a time, because that
one I think you do needreservations for.

Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
It did seem like yeah , the video I watched on it.
He was like, I picked the latereservation, when nobody would
be there.
I was wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
He said the same thing.
I'm the fan of going later withless people and all that, but
if we're going to do it, that'sone thing we're going to have to
do Again.

Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
It's on the list, it's must do.
Right, I think tuesday, wednesday, is going to be.
Can we do it so free flowing on?
Yeah, I just okay.
Which part of which do we takethe train north?
Are we going more east, morewest?

Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
to.
I think I think you're right,though, and I I think I think
tuesday would be a better dayfor that right, because here's
why this is kind of a kind aself, not say self-serving, but
it's the Disney thing If we doall that Tuesday, we can do some
local stuff like Wednesdayaround whatever, I was thinking

(01:24:11):
that too.

Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
And then if we want to go to Disney in the evening,
I was thinking that, too, weshould do the further travel
figure out where we're going.
The furthest one needs to be onTuesday.
I was thinking that too, I'mlike we should do the further
travel of you know like, figureout where we're going.
The furthest one needs to be onTuesday, and then, Wednesday I
want to stay near ish, becauseworse comes worse.
We want to go to bed early ishon Wednesday so we get up early

(01:24:36):
for Disney rope drop, yep.
So I'm like if we're goingsomewhere far that's tuesday,
wednesday we can stay tokyoproper ish right that that could
be the shibuya stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
Yeah, exactly um, because like you want to like
way north, or like north oftokyo well, it's, it's, it's
north, for actually it'sactually almost straight up
where we're staying at the hotel, versus going in west or uh
shibuya, which is an other, likebasically the other side.
So, like they're not, we're notdoing those two the same day
yeah exactly.
It's unlikely we're doing that.

(01:25:09):
So, yeah, wednesday makes moresense to do, honestly, tuesday
going and that's assuming weeven bother.
Like if we, if we don't do, uh,the bullet train going north,
the, the cherry blossoms goingnorth, the Cat Island going
north, if we don't do that, thenwe're likely going to be doing
the Shibuya and all that thestuff that's west Tokyo, and

(01:25:32):
then Wednesday we do the stuffthat's northeast in Tokyo, like
the Ueno.
So I think, whether or not wewant to do the bullet train and
cherry blossoms and cat Island, that will determine what will
happen on the rest of Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
Like I said, submit it to the committee.
We'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:25:48):
Yeah, exactly, we'll read it later.
But we, we, we just want to getan idea of like okay exactly
this.
If we do the bullet train, like, for example, if let's say Cat
Island and all that stuff, ifthat's something we can get done
in.
I don't want to say a half day,because I consider a half day
like till four or five o'clock.

Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
Exactly, yeah, like noon.

Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
Yeah, but if we get to early evening and be back, we
can still hit the other placeswhen we come back in town.
But we just have to take thevery first bullet train out to
maximize our time.
So, so, bullet train out tomaximize your time.
I'm probably looking at thatlater this evening as well, or
tomorrow I'll be at workhalf-assed paying attention.
My stuff for my meeting isalready good to go, so I don't
have to worry about that.
There's nothing else on mycalendar.

(01:26:29):
It'll be me checking outJapanese shit tonight and
tomorrow at work.
Basically no problem admittingthat, because that's what's
going to happen.
Then it's like, oh, here'swhat's going to happen.
And then it's like I was like,oh, here's what I found out.
If we do the bullet train fromhere to here, we can get the cat
, we get the cat island.
While we're out there, we cansee the knock off two birds, one
stone.
we get the cherry blossoms whilewe're out there because we're

(01:26:49):
going to be seeing those becausethe timing and okay, blah, blah
, blah, and then okay, and thenwe can be out there for a few
hours and then we take thebullet train back.
We're back in downtown Tokyo by4 o'clock.
I'm like, oh well, in that caselet's go to Tsubuya after that
and then boom, and we knock themboth out.
So we'll see how that plays out.
Yeah, we'll see.
And then again, that's Tuesday.
So I don't know, duke may notwant to go with us because he

(01:27:13):
has his flight that day.
But if we're back on, comingback at 4, my flight's not until
8 or whatever the time is, thenhe may join us.
So we'll see how that goes.

Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
Like I said, committee, we'll see what
happens.

Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
Oh yeah, Don't worry about tripping.

Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
So, yeah, we'll wrap it up.
As I mentioned earlier, we'llbe AI next week.
It's only like six minutes.
I didn't want to mess with ittoo much, but it's.
It's pretty funny, uh, whatit's been out so, and then after

(01:27:49):
that, we will probably have agood month of reminiscing on
this for content, honestly.

Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
So give you all the heads up now.
Yeah, I mean, but between japan, just j, and then celebration
also.
So at least the celebrationwill get you pop culture ones
going.

Speaker 3 (01:28:05):
